Visited to sell some guitars I had no more need for. I would say that the prices were fair and reasonable, I cant complain about them. They werent very conversational but I may have caught them on a bad day, regardless it doesnt really matter. Staff was nice and even though I know next to nothing about guitars they didnt talk down to me so that was appreciated. Overall, a good experience.

Mike’s music is a gem in Fond du Lac for lots of music enthusiastic students! All the staff are kind, thorough, and extremely helpful when it comes to buying, renting, or learning instruments! We’ve been doing business around 10 years with them now and all these years, we were never disappointed but satisfied with their service! We really appreciate their service for the community! My son wanted to get a starter electric bass. We stopped in this store and were pleasantly surprised! This has the feel of a store from back in my day! The gentleman that helped him was extremely experienced in bass guitar but also played it to let my son hear some if its capabilities and the sound produced. He was also familiar with my sons speakers and his home production set up. So hooking the guitar up will be much easier now.They also have almost every type of instrument there along with supplies for them. Definately a good resource for local school band and professional musicians alike!Clean well organized store and wonderful staff!

I was sent to pick up strings for my fiancee for a birthday gift. I am not at all familiar with acoustic guitars and what i came to get was sold out. I was impressed with the help I received in finding a replacement for what i came for. Walking in I felt welcome and was greeted with friendly help. They are knowledgeable and didnt treat me like i was dumb....impressed with this store and the help. I definitely will return for all of our musical needs as studio time approaches for my fiancee so will the need for more strings lol..Thank you for making my job easier.Jenn

I’ve taken the time to read all of the negative reviews...it was a good laugh. Mike was great, Dan was better, and Andrew is the best! Talk to these guys about any concerns you have and you will get answers. As a customer, don’t assume things without voicing your concerns and then get mad when your assumptions are wrong. A lot of knowledge in the shop and common courtesy from you will go a long way. Don’t post an ignorant review before at least trying to work it out with these guys. It is a business after all. They have sold a guitar on consignment for me in the past and I’ve purchased a few from them. I get strings, pedals, cables and most accessories from Mike’s. Great experiences all my life at Mike’s. Rude staff. Shamed me for my medical disability that wont allow me to wear my mask normally. I told them I cant cover my full face for medical reasons and he said No, I think you can. He told me to cover my nose or get out.I dont have a problem with having to do a curbside pickup. I respect their rules and guidelines concerning COVID-19. However, the guy was so rude about it and shamed me in front of the rest of the staff (who were very friendly compared to the other guy). Thats why I have the issue.

Expensive, but always have what Im looking for. Great selection of guitars, but if you arent in a rush, shop at Guitar Center or online for better prices. The atmosphere is a community business.

I take guitar lessons there from a guy named Levi. He was my brothers best friend and hes really good at playing instruments. The over all place is really nice. Its cozy, but not too small. The instruments they sell are sold at a fair price and are in good shape.

Place is amazing! All the staff is so knowledgeable and friendly! We do lessons for our kids there. This is a must visit if you have the smallest interest in music, instruments, and/or learning to play!!!

Bought a guitar from them, paid a lot for it, decided I didnt like it much so I took it back and asked them to buy it back. Only had it for 2 months, after they checked some measurements out which took forever then they decided to offer me a lousy $35. Wow I barely played it, it sat in a hard case that I even bought for it separately. I paid $600 for it, so they lost my business and Im never wearing the tee shirt for them ever, no more free advertising from me ever again! And I even paid for that too, and took friends there, helped his sales. But not anymore. I felt like I got a slap in the face.

The staff is knowledgeable, and go out of their way to ensure success. The environment encourages exploring and expanding music experience. Havent any need to go anywhere else.

In addition to the above mentioned, Mikes also offers lessons for a variety of instruments, guitars seeming to be the most popular when I visited.

Took my daughters beginner instrument in for repairs and was told it was not worth fixing so I told Dan I would buy a used Instrument. He found one and said it would take a bit to get it ready. I therefore went by the shop to get the old instrument so she had something to use in the meantime, saw the new instrument and agreed to a price range and time frame for pick up. I called at the end of the time frame and the instrument was not ready for pickup. A few days later Dan called me to say the instrument was ready and he was putting it out on the floor for sale. When I told him I had said I would take it he said I had not put any money down on it (he had not asked) and he didnt want to miss out on a potential sale thus forcing me to drop everything and go in to pick it up and pay for it immediately. The instrument, of course, was at the very high end of the price range we discussed. As my daughter is only in 6th grade I will spend my money on instruments elsewhere and be sure to let the world know about you Dan.

We just bought my daughter a new flute there. Dan is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I highly recommend this store.

Best music shop in all the land

Mikes is an excellent music store. Over the years I have visited every music store/guitar shop in Wisconsin and for a smaller complete music store, I think they are one of the best in the state. I still regurarily check out Cream City Music and both Guitar Centers, but I make most purchases at Mikes. Their staff is absolutely the best!

Friendly and knowledgeable workers, good variety of merchandise-instruments, music, accessories, equipment; if they dont have it, they send for it, prices reasonable.

Be very careful to get a written estimate on any instrument repair you have done, especially from Dan. Dan will throw you a verbal estimate, then when you pick up the instrument, his price will have gone up considerably. Also, if you buy anything from him that requires delivery or assembly, get it in writing from him that the delivery and assembly are part of the deal--otherwise youll find yourself picking it up and assembling it yourself. Hes the only music store in Fond du Lac, and Id like to patronize the place, but this kind of shiftiness forces me to do my music shopping out of town.EDIT: Dan is now deceased.
