Ames trailer was an extremely disappointing experience. When I called to make an appointment for my horse trailer to be inspected before I move from FL to VA, I was told the inspection was free and they would call me before any work was done. The day after dropping off my trailer, I called and was told it had not been inspected yet. Later that afternoon, I received a call from Ames telling me my trailer was ready and that my bill was over $1200.00. They never called me with a estimate or a list of suggested repairs. When I spoke to Gary, the owner, I was told the trailer needed it and that he misunderstood what I wanted. In what world does anyone do $1200 of work without approving it?! Gary was very apologetic to my husband and I and offered to reverse the work we didn’t want. When I arrived the next day to pick up my trailer I was treated horrible by the staff. One woman told me that I wouldn’t find the parts cheaper, she looked. Then Jimmy... oh Jimmy. What a rude and condescending man. He spoke to me like a little girl who doesn’t know anything about trailers or pulling. I kindly explained, that I have had 4 trailers and an RV and am well versed. That apparently wasn’t good enough for him. After asking the cashier what my balance was for the work that had been approved after the fact, I was told $70 for parts and $345 for labor for a job that couldn’t have taken more then 1 hour. I explained to them that this was bad business and to please check me out. All the while Jimmy was heckling in the background. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommended this business. Perhaps they made a mistake, perhaps there was a misunderstanding, or perhaps they tried to take advantage of someone moving from the area and thought they would get away with it.

I was extremely impressed by the guys there, i purchased a trailer from somewhere else and found that one of the brake lights was out, they said i could swing by and have them take a look at it. They dropped everything to help me, they fixed the light issues, got me a matching spare and even helped me get the trailer levelled and checked the tongue weight for me. They were super helpful and friendly and gave me a ton of advice to help me my new boat and trailer back to north carolina safely.

Staff was polite and very nice... but I feel ripped off after purchase found same exact part that I payed around $110 for $46, I was told it was a special hub and the bearing to rebuild where more then the hub. Again I found the bearings elsewhere for $13. Not sure if it was lack of knowledge or they are just over charging. Asked about price on axle that my friend just bought and they quoted me $100 more then what my friend paid them. Very confused because I have heard good things but I did not have a great experience and if the hubs where not already installed on my trailer I would have returned them.

The two girls at the front were very nice and helpful. We couldn’t go inside due to the corona, so they had a little setup at the door to serve people. When a line started to form, they came out and helped people which was fantastic. I don’t know much about trailers, but they helped me identify the parts I needed for my hub. Excellent customer service all around and I will be returning to this mom and pop store for sure.

Had a hub and spindle burn out and needed and emergency repair. I drove to Ames Trailer and the wonderful ladies behind the counter had my parts ready in a snap. Very professional employees and fast service! I would recommend Ames to anyone that needs trailer parts/service.

Their retail sales area seems small, but they always have exactly what I need for a fair price.They always give me good and accurate advice.Years ago, before I bought my first trailer, I stopped in and asked for advice from the owner. Even though he was starting to close up, he spent at least 15 minutes telling me what to watch out for when buying a used trailer, the advantages/disadvantages of single axle vs. Tandem axle, the differences between the two types of Springs, Etc.The kind of friendly, helpful small business owner you usually find in a small town in the Midwest, not in dog-eat-dog South Florida.

Company is very terrible got my trip sent my trailer there to get fixed on the minute they heard insurance they became money hungry then to give me all this extra stuff that I didnt want the crazy thing about it is I have defender racks that they were supposed to put up they didnt put that up came back and got my trailer I do not recommend this company money hungry it was supposed to put my racks up before they did anything never put the racks up my truck got hit and I was supposed to go back and complain with them but I realize the way the company is set up just leave it alone and find quality over quantity

They were more than helpful! They got us in immediately and fixed our travel trailer. They estimated 4 days for the repair and completed the job in 3. They also quoted us one price and the final bill was a little lower than what they Originally quoted us so we were happy. That being said that showed me their level of work ethic and honesty.Very customer friendly and helpful! They did what they said they were going to do!

I have to agree with others here... this place is not very customer oriented. Here is my story... went over on a Monday so they could measure the axle on my trailer. Jim took all measurements (2x3, 2200 suspension leaves for a 4400 lbs trailer) went in the office and got a $486 estimate with 1 hr of labor included if I pay cash (no taxes). All seemed good... next day got a call from Jim saying that the trailer is overdone for that boat(with engine and gas about 2800 lbs). He suggested to go with a 2x2 and 1850 suspension for a 3700 lbs trailer. Said that it was going to be fine and I would save a couple of bucks too... no problem, go ahead... got called on Thursday... hey Jay, your trailer is done and it’s $560. “WHAT???” Jim told me is going to be cheaper...let me talk to him... Jim starts saying “I don’t know who you talked to but it wasn’t me”...” they gave you the wrong information”. I went over to pick it up and obviously he acted like he didn’t talk to me at all. Then he tells me that the invoice was done and that I had to pay taxes cause he never said that. I told him “why would I make that up?” And At that time he went in his office and never came out until I was gone. Very rude and unprofessional. Too bad for the lady at the counter cause she had nothing to do with it...get everything on writing even if they tell you that you don’t need it. Trust me...you will...

Ames always has exactly what I’m looking for for my boat trailer... great store with knowledgeable employees. I’ve never had them do work on my trailer, but I’ve never heard anything negative about their work..

Great service. Very honest people did an awesome job on my new trailer axle. And the prices are just right.

They provide good service. This place has special marine type grease for the bearings and tires for boat trailers. They also fix trailer brakes and springs. Owner is always there. Appointments are recommended. They take boat trailers, utility trailers, travel trailers, fifth wheelers, you name it. There is also a little store where you can buy spare parts and accessories.

If you need hard to find parts or quick service, this is the place to go. I dont do reviews but I have to give credit where credit is due.

Today I was there to have a few answers about my floating trailer and a few others on how to installs rollers. I have been always happy with the owner and the lady in the front desk. Very courteous, prompt to answer questions, very good customer services.

I have to disagree with some reviews, I had a great experience on my visit to Ames. I was quoted a price at another shop, which seemed to be a lot of money and they did not seem to be very knowledgeable with what I needed done. The girls at front counter were Very knowledgeable and helpful. As they directed me to the owner for further info, he explained all repairs that would need to be done and also a quote that would save me money, did not need all the repairs the other company said I needed. I made appointment. They had the trailer back same day. Everything was great. Will return for future work. Very pleased.

Had some welding done and am glad I went to them versus a strictly welding only shop. They charged for the time spent on the job and not the minimum charge of 1 hour as other businesses do. Their finished work was clean strong welds. They took the extra time to spray paint the project as professionals do.Definitely not a mickey mouse shop that gives or takes BS. They charge an honest wage for honest quality work done.

They are crooks, they overcharged me after giving me a price. Dont trust them and everyone that works there are very rude.

My company has been a loyal customer in supporting this Pops shop for years, that changed today that I met the owner. He’s discriminating and impolite, all over a part that involved him walking 2 feet from his comfort area on a Saturday morning. This owner is washed out, takes his impulses on his clients, reflecting on the business’ service. My company and its affiliates will discontinue the use and recommendations of their service.

When I went to use the bathroom there was a truck parked too close to the wall to get to the bathroom and you had to wiggle around it and there was an air conditioner that I smashed my head on. Afterwards the man moved his truck forward and out of the way well saying how did you hit your head on that its clearly marked that was just not cool other than that they had the part that I needed and actually went the extra mile to put the part on because I couldnt bend down with a bleeding

I had an awesome service yesterday. Called on the phone to purchase a tire, gentleman who answered the phone was very helpful asking me several questions to make sure that the tire I wanted was in stock. When I went there, they already had the tire ready for me. After paying for the tire and while walking to the car, the lady left the store alone (she had a few people inside) and came out to the parking lot to give me a new tire valve which I was not expecting. She also directed me to two places where I could get my tire mounted. They advised me on the phone before going there that they could not mount it for me on a Saturday. The only thing that I want to make you aware is that they charge an extra 3% if you pay with a credit card. I would come back. Helpful people and they have everything you need in stock.

They preformed a quick evaluation, had the parts I needed, was willing to do the work if I choose. I chose to do the work myself but they let me leave the trailer there for the day anyhow so I could get to my job.

Not sure of the name of the rude prick that took my call. But they just lost the opportunity to earn my, and my fathers business. Seems like it was close to closing and the deuche that took my call couldnt get off the phone fast enough. Unbelievable

Work preformed was good but I was sitting there the whole time and it took the two guys 45 minutes to pack two hubs, polish the spindles and put the tires on. They then billed me for two hours of labor.

Jason,In response to your comments concerning the axles that you inquired about. First you said that you have a 25 Mako boat with twin motors. You claimed that it weighed 2500 pounds and you wanted 7000 pounds of axles. After inquiring with a reputable boat trailer dealer, I was told that it would take 10000 lbs (2-5000 lb) axles for your boat including the weight of the trailer. You cursed me and refused to listen to what I had to say, then have the ordasity to accuse me of cursing customers!What business is it of yours for the manner in which I was speaking to my brother literally and it was in jest. But you blatenly put it out for review that I cuss my customers. Not true.May I suggest to you to please stay in your lighting business rather than in my trailer business. Which has been in operation for over 30 years.Respectfully,Jim

Shame these are the only people around Broward for boat trailer spare parts. The woman that answers the phone is not at all helpful and rude as well. I work in the marine business and would recommend to all my customers to stay away from them. Go to your trailer manufacturer if you can.
