So happy to finally try this place! It’s a cute find in the union trust building for brunch with great service. Make a reservation via Yelp to make sure you get a table. It sounded like the wait was about an hour without a reservation. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation. The lounge area was cute to wait in and there was eclectic charm everywhere - even the bathroom. The food was delicious and a good price. The plates were also a decent size to share. We did a toast option as an appetizer and each shared a plate. We will certainly be back to try out more of the menu!As a side it was Halloween and they offered candy after the meal and the staff was dressed up and super friendly.

We came here on a whim and I’m so glad we did! The atmosphere is cool and clean. The waitstaff is very friendly, and they were even nice enough to recommend other restaurants in the area if people didn’t want to wait for a table. They kept the restaurant, tables, and bathrooms spotless. I was dining in with three others, we all shared a great experience. All of our plates were empty and we were satisfied. I wish we had this back home in Cleveland. I would love to be a regular at a place like this! Maybe we’ll have to come back next week.

I’ve been coming here regularly since they open and I’ve been happy to see how they’ve grown! I’ve ordered a few different things and everything has been great. I think my favorite is the breakfast sandwich, though! I come somewhat regularly for a matcha latte because their team does such a great job with them - not gritty like some places, really well done. Great staff, great place! Can’t recommend them enough.

Stopped here when visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend and this brunch spot did not disappoint! Loved the coffee, food, and drinks. The service was amazing and the wait time was really short for not having a reservation. I also love how they let you substitute any meat on the menu with avocado! If you’re looking for a brunch spot in Pittsburgh I highly recommend trying this place!

My husband & I made brunch reservations for our sixteenth wedding anniversary this weekend (10-08 to 10-10) we arrived about 8 minutes late & they told us they too were running behind & we couldnt be seated for an additional twenty minutes. They suggested we get a cup of c☕ffee from theirc☕ffee bar, my husband went to get he & i some. He came back 10 minutes later to inform me that after being ignored for about 9 minutes by the barista, she spoke to him very rudely as she tersely explained to him that drip c☕ffee is only refillable while dining, & that it wouldnt be transferable after being seated for brunch. At which time we decided it was promptly time to make an exit stage left... While the pandemic has hit everyone hard, us too, the complete lack of customer service let alone civility is entirely unacceptable...

Sunday brunch in the lobby of the elegant Union Trust Building in downtown Pittsburgh is a memorable experience. Before your first pre-brunch Bloody Mary arrives look up at the architecture that climbs for stories above you. Drink it in. Then hit that bloody because its one of the best in town. While I enjoyed my bloody, my brunch partner sipped an Alexander Rampilton: Dont Throw Away Your Shot - get this one quick before ramp season is gone and so are the pickled ramps. On to the food. Beautiful twin poached eggs perched on serrano ham on top of excellent housemade gluten free toast (normally on toasted English muffins) with an outstanding hollandaise sauce was my choice. Perfection. My companion dug into a satisfying bowl of Hens Hash. The hash consisted of a melange of potatoes, mushrooms, tomato, snow peas, jalapeno and red onion which was at once hearty and fresh, bright, and zippy. Crowned with two eggs with bacon and marble rye on the side, it was a substantial breakfast! If youre visiting Pittsburgh, or if you live here, dont miss this gem of a breakfast and lunch spot! (And the views all around are the icing on this lovely cake.)

Great staff, great food, really pretty place, too. I had the incredible eggs Benedict-- one of the best Ive had. Perfect hollandaise (not crazy thick like mayo, and not breaking, either), perfect poached eggs (whites fully cooked, yolks runny), plus serrano ham which is more flavorful than the classic Canadian bacon. We shared a baby pancake order of the poppyseed pancakes which was super cute and delicious. And my guest had the French toast with the truly wonderful strawberry cardamom jam. I will be back.

I made a reservation on Yelp, but it didnt go through. Fortunately the host was able to fit us at an open table. Our waitress was so sweet! I hate that I forgot her name, but she was the female with the purple hair. She answered questions about the menu and gave her honest opinion.I ordered the kombucha mimosa. It was surprisingly good--so good that I ordered 2! I got the Henny hash with avocado as well as a short stack of lemon poppy seed pancake. Im ashamed to say I ate ALL my food🤤. I havent had a brunch that great in year! Im not usually a big eater but I couldnt decide, if I could go back, I would do it all the same again. The restaurant is in the hallway of the Union Trust Building. The space is colorful and the staff are extremely friendly. I like that a lot of the food was local farm to table. I would HIGHLY recommend this spot for breakfast or brunch!!!

I had a pretty unpleasant experience at this place that was mostly centered around the unbelievably uncomfortable seats they used. I genuinely cannot comprehend the poor decision making skills that went into choosing these hard metal stools with no backs. The worst part is that we made a reservation and they still chose to put us at the worst seats in the house (most tables did not have such awful seating). The food itself was totally acceptable diner food. The eggs came out hot, the toast was warm and crispy and the bacon had an interesting herby flavor that I enjoyed. I was disappointed that the only potato option they offered included onions, which I do not eat. My meal definitely could have used some potatoes to mix up the flavor palette.Overall I think someone could definitely have a good meal here, but it was not for me and I dont think Ill be back.

Solid 3 stars (or dollars). Been here a few times and the service is great, food is good but there is a disconnect with price. Long story-short, expect to pay 40-50% more relative to what you get. For instance, you want a fried chicken biscuit, that’s $13. But the biscuit is super dry and the chicken over cooked with little flavor, at best worth $9. You want a local cider? That’ll be $8 and you’ll get 6 oz in a nice wine glass. Great place to go if you’re staying in a nearby hotel, but no need to make the trek downtown if you live locally.

Visited this place in the last month and was surprised about my experience based on all the good reviews. This place has wonderful decor but theres no place to easily book reservations through either a quick link or the website. Walked in and was rudely greeted by Samson (?), when I asked How are you? he replied umm..reservations ? I get it, Im sure you deal with a lot of stuff- but youre in customer service. The conversation then went something like okay great, I can seat you 2 hours from now and condescendingly looked upon my friend and I. There also were plenty of tables open. Went to another breakfast place around the corner and had a way better experience. This seems like a cool place but this was extremely off-putting.

The staff shows no regard, are beyond rude I hope this place gets Shut down! Went to this restaurant today and wow for the reviews and hype I was shocked how bad this place was! First off the host whom walks around aimlessly with his iPad barks reservation at you before you can even say hello. Once it’s established a reservation was made it seems like reservation to this place and what the term actually means are two very different things. I was not late I was 4 min early and proceeded to wait 32 min after my reservation.my fiancé and I were hungry so we waited after asking the host again barked at reservation, when my fiancé said yes we have been waiting we were told oh just waiting on a table? Hm okay, so after being seated and ordering a drink and waiting an additional 13 min we could wait no more. This place could offer water from the holy grail and I wouldn’t return! The owner should be present and really tighten up the employees that are employees esp the host before he or she ends up with no business.Times have been tough and with the mandates lifting and more and more people going out and spending their hard earned money I think it’s fair to expect good customer service above all else. The speckled egg has the worst service and most rude in helpful customer service that Mc Donald’s seems like fine dinning compared to them. I hope this saves another couple from wasting their time. And if the owner reads this some advice get a better host and remember without customers and great customer service you have nothing regardless of the food.

The Speckled Egg was a great little surprise. It was located inside one of my fave downtown architecture buildings, the Union Trust building. So thats always a great treat. The menu was disposable or digital, so that gives you peace of mind if youre nervous about germ spread. And the menu was so good! There are classic breakfast items, or more upscale brunch type items. The Eggs Benedict was delish, and a decent size. I was also tempted to try the Lox n Loaded bagel dish, but opted for the servers recommendation instead. I stand behind my choice! The atmosphere was pretty cool. With a name like Speckled Egg i expected a more rustic vibe, but its more modern chic, which was a nice surprise! Anyways, Id definitely go back! Great service, great food. Really nice variety without it being overwhelming.
