John was incredible! If you are looking for a phone repair place, this is the place! I called late Saturday afternoon about a cracked iPhone screen and he even offered to do it that evening, but unfortunately I wasn’t around to bring it in so I opted to bring it in first thing Tuesday morning. Took about an hour for him to replace my screen and everything turned out great. He really knows his stuff and felt comfortable with him working on my phone. Won’t hesitate to bring my phone back for any repairs and will recommend to others

I really appreciated the honesty of their work. The man working there could have easily told me my phone was permanently water damaged and had me replace my screen but instead told me the honest truth and said that if he was the owner of the phone he wouldnt do anything and just hold off the few months to buy a new phone, because the phone will work fine. And it does. Im eternally grateful for their honesty, and I have a few other electronic things I want to bring in to get fixed if possible. This place is not readily visible and kinda hard to find but dont get discouraged because the integrity of this place is 5 stars!

Fantastic phone repair! Greatly appreciate what he did. Might not of completely fixed it but he did what he could and did it extremely cheap and fast and for that I am thankful. I had an excellent experience getting a dead screen replaced on an iPhone. The technician (owner?) told me to come back in an hour and it was fixed when I returned. He ran some tests with me there, explained what he was doing. About a week later the problem reoccurred. I brought it back and he fixed it straight away without a bunch of questions or additional charge. While I hope never to have to have a phone repaired again, I will certainly come back here for prompt service, confidence that they know what they are doing and a track record of standing behind their work.

Called and talked with John. Explained to him that my IPhone charger had to be plugged in just right or it would not charge. His initial reply was that I may not need to change the jack on the phone and that he would look at it for free. I did what he explained that he would do and it is working great! Had a bad battery in my iPhone 8 and I called to make sure he was open and without hesitation explained pricing and made sure he had my battery. I brought it to him and he tested it and replaced battery and explained it all while doing it. Paid 49.50 for a battery replacement which is very reasonable. John turned the bad experience of breaking my phone screen into a fantastic one. He is incredible knowledgeable and explained everything he did while he worked on my phone. While repairing my screen, he also noticed the home button pressure was worn out and went ahead and fixed that too at no extra charge! The whole process took less than an hour, and he stayed past his closing time to finish the job.This was one of the best customer service experiences Ive ever had.

Highly recommended. I came to John with a cracked iPhone 7 screen. He needed a few days to order the parts, but once he got them in he performed same-day service on my phone. Once the repair was done, he thoroughly tested the phones basic functions in front of me. There was an issue with the proximity sensor after assembly, so he promptly removed the screen and fixed it on the spot. John clearly takes a lot of pride in his work. Hes extremely knowledgeable and knows these phones inside and out. Hes something of a mad scientist when working on them! Prices are extremely reasonable (less than what Apple charges at the moment) and you’d be hard-pressed to find better workmanship and attention to detail. I think most third-party repair shops would likely skimp on the finer details and give you back a phone that doesn’t quite work the same as when you first brought it in. John stands by his work and will resolve any minor issues that come up after your repair (likely at no additional charge). I would absolutely trust my phone with CDC again and will refer others.

This place is awesome, which is something I cant believe Im saying about a cell phone repair shop. I had a problem with my cell phone rebooting every ten seconds or so, to the point where I didnt have time to go into my settings and reset all settings. John did the work right there while I was in the shop, and plugged my phone into his computer and rolled back the software to a previous version. It took him about 20min time and then he didnt even end up charging me! Will certainly return and can highly recommend.

I’d give 6/5 stars if I could! Not only did the guy at this place get my phone working again, he was very personable and we had a nice little audiophile chat about headphones—he even said he’d see if he could fix my old headphones that broke three years ago. I haven’t even gotten my phone back yet (he said it’s restored to perfect working order and I’m going to pick it up this morning) but I’m already recommending the place to all my friends and coworkers and random strangers in the Frederick area. Definitely check it out if your phone needs a fix and you got turned away by the salespeople at the store. The guy at the phone store I went to said there wasn’t anything that ANYBODY—not just Verizon, but anyone at all—could do for my phone. This place sure proved that wrong, thankfully, and now I get to keep my sweet, sweet data :)

I took my phone to have its screen replaced over a year ago--John did a great job and is very ethical and honest and a good businessman. He recognizes the challenges of being a one man operation and does not make promises that he cannot keep. Not only did he replace my phone screen, he also replaced my camera. My phone is old--ancient, by cellular standards--but it has a kick butt camera and a non broken front screen, thanks to John. I have referred MANY people to him and all have been pleased with his services, too.

I have been to CDC three times for 3 separate phone repairs. Two were cracked screens and the phones were repaired quickly and looked like new. The third was a battery replacement. John was able to fix my relatively small charging port problem within ten minutes. Saves me the cost of going to an Apple “Genius” bar for support when I can go local. The shop tucked away across from Play Raven, is a little bit of a cluster on the inside but good work all around.

Excellent service! I dropped my iphone 7 plus and the screen got major cracks in it. I called Apple Service and they were going to charge me $169 just for the repair. Plus, I was going to have to make an appointment and drive all the way to Bethesda. I stopped here, and John took my phone, ran some diagnostics on it to make sure it was only the screen that was damaged and told me to come back in 1 & 1/2 hours. Plus, he recommended another phone case that had the glass screen protector in it, all for the cost that Apple would have been charged for the screen repair only. As painful as it was to have the unexpected expense of the repair, that fact that it was done so quickly and efficiently eased the pain.I highly recommend this business, and will definitely come here first if I have another screen break.

Great customer service. Honest business. Skilled/experienced repair.Forget about going the extra mile, they went the extra millimeter. Let me explain. My screen on my sons Galaxy S5 recently cracked all on its own. Go figure. Everything worked fine but the screen was a mess. I knew that it was only a matter of time before the cracked screen led to an unresponsive screen. It needed to be fixed.I went back and forth about purchasing the parts and repairing it myself since the screens tend to be pricey and I generally get by as a do-it-yourselfer. After checking my options, I found that CDC could replace the screen while I waited for not a whole lot more than the parts would cost themselves so I decided to give myself a break and leave the repair to the expert.I dropped the phone off and proceeded to run some errands. When I came back, John, the technician, informed me that the only replacement black screen he had appeared to be defective but that he had several white screens. I didnt really want to make another trip to Frederick so I agreed to having the white screen installed. A very short time later, we learned that the screen was not the problem since the next two screen he tried were also defective. John knew that the phone had worked when I dropped it off so he had to solve the riddle of why the phone no longer worked. He put the circuit board under a microscope where he discovered that there was a very very small manufacturing defect in the phone that caused any new screen to not work correctly.He tried one repair that worked for a few seconds and then failed. He refused to be deterred and decided that the only way to make it work would be to perform a very tiny bypass surgery on the phone. With my blessing, he soldered an extremely thin, short wire into the circuit to act as a jumper over the defective portion of the board. The only way to see the repair is with a microscope. Amazing.During the whole time I was there (a little over an hour), I observed John helping other clients with their phones. He was courteous and honest. He told one customer that, yes, he could fix her phone but it would probably be cheaper for her to replace it even though it was apparent that doing so would cost him business. I cannot recommend CDC highly enough. If you need your phone fixed, this is THE place to go.

Absolutely wonderful. I went to have the screen on my wifes iPhone 5 fixed. Not only did John replace the screen, he discovered that a capacitor smaller than a grain of sand had come loose when the phone was dropped and performed microsurgery to fix it -- at no additional cost. He also threw in a replacement battery, which the phone desperately needed. He is hugely knowledgeable and clearly loves what he is doing and takes great pride in it. He can fix stuff that most would simply throw away. I am really glad to have made his acquaintance and he will be my first port of call whenever I have have a problem with a smartphone or tablet.
