Asked for my emergency brakes to be adjusted. They said they did but when I tested my truck there was no noticeable difference. The truck would still roll with the e brake fully engaged in forward and reverse without touching the gas pedal. When I called the shop they of course said they did but when I told them what I was experiencing they said well your brake cable is stretched. First problem the truck has new emergency brake cables and second if they really were stretched why didn’t they recommend replacing them or tell me that my brakes couldn’t be adjusted because my cable were stretched. I was able to adjust them in my driveway no problem.No follow up communication with why my truck failed inspection. Didn’t get a good feel when dealing with the manager. Basically went against his rule of transparency and open communication with accurate info from the mechanic to the customer because when he checked me out he spoke nothing about the condition of my truck. When asked why he had no follow during check out he said the tech who worked on my truck already left for the day.I will give credit where it’s deserved. They did align my truck and did a very good job. Again though lack of communication made it confusing that alignment was right. When I was called for pick up of my vehicle it was mentioned they got it aligned as best as they could. When I received the alignment print out it said I was good within factory specs. Still confusing and not very transparent with what’s actually going on. My opinion and my experience.

Potomac Creek Automotive of Stafford, VA is my new business of choice for servicing my vehicles! They proved expedient with my previous visits to simply satisfy Virginia State Inspections, but this latest visit more fully demonstrated their professional caliber. My well-maintained 2005 Toyota yet again passed; however, following a thorough, pictorial inspection, they visually showed me additional areas of potential concern should I choose to address them now or later. I’ve serviced a lot of vehicles during my life, sometimes myself, but until now I’ve never experienced a mechanic shop volunteering to show me real evidence of automotive concerns—and without any pressure to fix them then and now!! Might I also mention the complimentary coffee, hot cocoa, and soda in their comfortable waiting room?! If youre a military veteran, ask them about their discount.

In the past Ive never had an issue with this automotive business. Have taken multiple vehicles here. They were always polite and efficient with the service provided. I am surprised to even have to write this review to be honest. So my daughters car failed inspection for a list of items. They quoted me a price to fix these items and the labor alone was very expensive so I took the car to a more affordable mechanic as the wife lost her job due to the pandemic. Well the cheaper mechanic must of not did a great job at fixing the faulty items and the car failed inspection again. The owner of Potomac creek then got mad as this was the second time it failed inspection and they couldnt do the wheel alignment that I asked them to do. So apparently since they couldnt make money from this deal he told me that he was losing money because I couldnt afford their labor. Even though that may be true, you dont tell a customer this in the manner that they did. There are ways to communicate an issue which doesnt make a single household income customer feel as though were scum. Nonetheless I kept my composure and politely declined any additional services. Just know if you cant afford their labor this could possibly happen to you. The receptionist however was always pleasant and welcoming. She alone almost made me not write this review, but I believe this may help someone else.

Potomac creek automotive was nothing short of amazing ! We drove from New York to Florida to get to Disney, and our transmission went on our ‘15 Nissan Rogue as we arrived in Virginia. Thankfully we found Vanessa and the guys to help us! These men worked til late at night and Saturday morning when they should’ve been home with their families, to get us going Saturday morning and back on the road. Vanessa helped us out tremendously and we can’t thank her enough for getting everything sorted out, giving us a place to stay, keeping us in the loop, and driving us with one of the guys’, cars to get around. The guys worked SO QUICKLY, like a nascar team to get us back on our journey! If they hadn’t done so, we would’ve lost days of our trip! They were so kind, helpful, supportive, and helped us keep calm with our 3 little ones. The shop is beautiful and clean, and everyone is super friendly and makes you feel at home ! I went to Potomac Creek Automotive for the first time, and was very impressed. They have as system that lets you see whats physically wrong with your car, with pictures and everything. Most automotive shops leave you wondering whether or not you really need a specific something done and often wonder if its for their benefit or yours.. I would highly recommend this shop.

Harry and his staff run a professional, friendly, and effective operation. After visiting the dealership twice and another shop to get an alignment that eliminates the pulling to one side I had, Potomac Creek fixed the problem at a lower price. Turns out PCA actually diagnoses things and understands how to go about fixing problems, not just doing the job for the sake of it. While I had my 96 6.5L Suburban in for that alignment, they provided a picture-based report that showed me all the other issues that they found. I knew of 90% of them as I usually do all my own maintenance and I had specifically not said anything to them beforehand. None of the other shops Ive been to in the Stafford/FXBG area bothered to look closely and identify these maintenance issues (especially the Chevy dealer). PCAs attention to detail and transparency was what won me over. I had them take care of the other maintenance issues I knew I wouldnt have time to do myself at home. I also spoke with the mechanic, Daniel, who did the work and he was, knowledgeable, helpful and professional as everyone else there.

If you’re in this area and need anything with your vehicle I HIGHLY recommend bringing your vehicle here. My husbands truck has had all the issues it’s been taken in 3 times in the last 2 weeks and they have been nothing short of phenomenal. We are getting ready to get all new tires put on and we will be using them again for that without a doubt. Everyone is so friendly and very accommodating! Can’t say enough good things!

I called Potomac and spoke to Brian after getting quoted $1980.00 for a brake and wheel bearing job at another shop. I told Brian what I needed over the phone and he quoted $750 without seeing the car. When I took the car in he called back telling me that they would in fact need to replace the rotors, breaks, and pads along with the wheel bearing and the cost would be $675. I was thrilled. Furthermore, when I picked up the car they said that they replaced the entire wheel assembly rather than just the wheel bearing and explained why this was important. They did all of this being far less than half the price than the their competitor. I will definitely use Potomac Creek again for any of my vehicles.

From start to finish had a pleasant experience. Harry at the front desk came out with a clip board and wrote down every little issue we had. The next day Brian called with the diagnosis and we ended up replacing the engine. Harry & Brian kept me informed on when the new engine arrived and the work they were doing. I felt the price was reasonable (plus came with a 3 year warranty), the time the repair took was quick given the amount of work needed, and to top it off after I picked up the truck Brian called me a week later just to check up and make sure everything was still good to go. . This shop worked on my eco boost. The job was short notice with extensive work. Long story short, due to the short amount of time to complete a dynamic job, they made a minor mistake that was NOT catastrophic to my vehicle. When I confronted them about the problem, they not only corrected it, they went above and beyond to ensure my vehicle was returned in better condition than when it went in for the initial service AND gave me a free oil change that was not due or required. Took both the family vehicles there. They found some things wrong with each one but were not pushy trying to get us to fix them. One vehicle had some steering issues and they fixed that without even charging me for it. Will definitely be back to get the other work done.

Great mechanics that dont try to cheat you.

My son took his vehicle to the shop for a state inspection. The inspector failed the car for a broken engine mount and then tried to upsell the fix for $200. The part ranges from $30 to $40 new. When I looked at the part, it was not broken. I returned to the shop the following day and asked what about the part was broken. The staff was dismissive, and their answer was that since Im not a state inspector Im not able to determine if the part is broken or not. The inspector stated the part performed out of spec. I asked the inspector to provide the specs that was used as a reference (for example, the standard for brakes: Bonded or molded linings or disc pads are worn to less than 2/32 of an inch in thickness.). They refused to provide any information that backed up the determination that the part was broken. I mentioned the part was fully intact, showed no signs of anything broken, and that the mounts and performance were within the established standards of section 120 of the Official Annual Motor Vehicle Inspection Manual available online on the VSP state website. They offered a refund, which I refused. I have filed an official complaint with the Culpeper Region Safety Office and will be following through with this. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS SHOP.

Went in for an inspection and an emissions test (Stafford Co required) and I was in and out in just about exactly the time they said I would be. Great shop, great people, no BS.
