Buyer beware! Purchased a pair of pre assembled heads only to have them fail on first start up. One of the valves stuck and contacted a piston bending a pushrod. After contacting the seller they refused to help me in any way. There claim was all of the specifications should be visible by the naked eye. These heads were rated well above my needs and on a low mileage motor certainly should have lasted more than 15 minutes. Extremely disappointed and out of pocket not only for the purchase but also the thousands in repairs
I tried to contact the seller through eBay but too much time had passed. We ordered an engine from eBay through this company. When the sale had completed, I finally found out where it was coming from and looked the company up. I was so concerned about the engine I was receiving that I tried to send it back but eBay said I had to take possession of it for them to help me. When the engine arrived, much to my surprise it appeared to be clean and well put together (visual inspection only.) We went ahead and finished putting it together. I never was able to get the engine past the break in point, it never ran right and we later found out why. It ended up exploding a piston within 300 miles, once we started tearing the engine down we found out the head bolts hadnt been torqued properly for starters. We were able to break most of them loose easily with a half inch ratchet. The bearings were in bad shape, and Chinese. (Who knew that was a thing)I took a different block to a machine shop to try to salvage what was left, and they found a hairline crack in the crank. Basically long story short, $3,500 is completely out the window. There is nothing I was able to salvage out of the engine. Mind you we put together everything very carefully and never ran it hard, because frankly it had no power due to water intrusion into the cylinders because of lose head bolts. I think maybe if a guy were to buy one of these engines and tear it down, and check everything carefully you might be good to go but Im not sure because we didnt check the machine work. ( Block ended up being trashed.) I wanted to give this company the benefit of the doubt because its only the right thing to do, but the more I tore into it, the more I found out I have been had. I feel like these engines are just thrown together haphazardly and quickly to get them out the door with no regarding to what happens afterwards.
BEWARE ! Purchased a 496 CU engine thru EBay. Upon initial starting, noticed a loss of oil pressure. Found the cam shaft and lifted were destroyed with metal shavings through the engine. Root cause came from the crankshaft. While Shaw City was balancing the crank, they drilled metal from the front lobe, however, in the process they drilled right through to the oil gallery, starving the engine of oil, causing the failure. EBay wont do anything and Shaw City refuses to talk or acknowledge anything.
Customer service is horrible. Once you purchase something from them they are pretty much done with you. I purchased a engine from them already assembled when I got it it hand to be torn down and recleaned to get metal chunks out . I was fine with that but come to find out some of the parts were not what they said they were.
The guy trys to get you to purchase items outside of Ebay to avoid ebay fees and paypal fees. He will then harass you and keep trying to force a payment. He changes his Ebay name to make his rating better to avoid the negative feedback. Alan and his company is a joke. Do not buy from him or his business
Even just one call and they were incredibly unprofessional I just got off the phone. The first the guy says is hello like its his personal phone I had to ask if it was the right place. But the good news is he told me what I needed to know. No foreign engines here
Total CROOK! Beware! Unless you like throwing money away, best to buy from a legitimate company. All engine components are Chinese garbage! As soon as he has your money youre had! Read all the reviews on here... truth comes from actual customers!
I won an e-bay auction for an engine from this company.I was originally quoted a $400 price for crating and shipping. They then inflated the crating and shipping charges to over $1000,found out later by ups that it cost them a little over $200 to ship.I won the auction at a good price so the extra shipping cost added it was still a good deal so I paid the $1000 shipping. When I got the engine I begin checking it out, the valve size was much smaller than stated in the description, the engine cubic inch was smaller than in the description.I voiced my concerns to him and to ebay.I was told by him and E-bay to ship the engine back at my expense and loose the $1000 shipping charged by them.So he makes $800 on the shipping and gets his engine back to re-sell to another victom.Alan has no problem taking your money and not giving you what you paid for,and I bet he goes to bed with a smile on his face.He does know how to work the e bay system well and to his advantage and hides behind them. His new e-bay name now is (seperformance5)He is simply a con man and should be behind bars for all the people he has burned.Beware of this person and company never buy anything from them.BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE
Same as others, got suckerd on a too good to be true engine deal on ebay, ford 460 stroker engine, then got hit with a 1000 dollar crating and shipping charge, emailed through ebay to this seller that i would like to pick the engine up in person. He responded with a one liner cash only with pickup so i replied, no problem where do i pick the engine up at? And no reply after that, then he waited me out to get an unpaid item strike, i called Ebay customer service and they were able too review all my messages to this seller (always do it through Ebay folks) and they removed the unpaid item claim. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DO ANY BUSINESS AT ALL WITH THIS PERSON, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Terrible, Terrible, Terrible...the only way I can describe my experience with this place. Ordered a motor that ran for ......20 minutes....it didnt even make break in. Leaking Freeze plug, Broken Valve guides, Broken spring retaining clip. All in a break in period. When contacting the company, I was told that I would be sent parts. Parts ? I dont work on cars, the garage that I have to pay does. I was also hung up on by, what I think is the owner??? So, in short, I have to go another route to try and get my money back. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!I have photo documentation for anyone that would like to see how terrible this guys work is.
Purchased a Gen V Chevy 496 big block on ebay, seemed like a good price but the heads were built substandard, and 4 months after receiving engine I found the crankshaft was defective with bolt pattern problem for flywheel. Only 2 of 6 bolts would go in, and one of the holes was .080 off! Alan at Shaw City denied this possibility, and told me to grind out flywheel holes to make fit which I refused to do. After a bunch of communication (they do get back to you) he said if I (at my expense) sent the crank back to him, he would replace it. I asked to just cut flywheel hub off and send it to save shipping and Alan said they would put that crank in another engine (which I couldnt let happen). Bearing clearances were good in engine, engine was clean, block and everything looked machined well. Different parts used than described in auction, and ultimately since I didnt fully inspect the engine I had no recourse through ebay or paypal (paypal basically said it was described as an engine and you got an engine. Bad experience and ultimately Alan expressed that I was wrong, crankshaft was fine, and that his shop could not make mistakes or have defects. After $1500 more invested with the new crank, gaskets, and balancing (and lots of my labor) I have a useable engine. Also the shipping is ridiculous cost. I think Shaw City Engines can do good work, but they do not back their work/products.
I odered a set of pistons, this guy sent out the wrong ones. I tried to exchange them for the right set, but this guy will not accept a return or an exchange, even though it was his mistake.
Not sure where to start but here we go about this SCAMMER!On July 17, 2018, I won an E-Bay auction for a set of the Pro-Comp cylinder heads for a Big Block Ford (460) engine from this SCAMMER/CROOK/THIEF.The winning auction price was $381.67 for a pair of complete heads plus $129.30 in shipping. (GREAT DEAL right) Now Alan Paolercio originally was calling himself on E-Bay Clewwho40 and has now changed it to Seperformance 5 and now I know why!Upon winning the auction I received an invoice just a couple hours after the auction closed. I was ready to pay but Alan had the shipping amount wrong. it was originally $129.30 and the invoice was now showing $429.30. Giving him the benefit of the doubt and human error I contacted Alan via e-mail thru ebay and asked him to correct this error so I could pay right away. I received a response from Alan stating he was on vacation and would fix it on Monday 07-23-18. While I was waiting on him to return from vacation and correct his error I was getting hounded by ebay to finish my deal or they would charge me with an unpaid item charge. So i waited until that Monday morning and sent Alan a follow-up email reminding him to correct this shipping error--no response.I did try going into paypal and issuing the correct amount but was blocked from doing so because Alan had already issued an invoice.I waited until 1700 hrs (5:00pm) that night and when I didnt hear from Alan I called ebay customer assistance. The gentleman named Mark was able to see the whole transaction and the invoice error as well as our communication. Mark reminded me that under the sellers agreement we agree when selling not to sell items while were on vacation. This made no difference! Mark tried calling Alan and sent him an email, no response. The next day Alan closed the unpaid item claim and cancelled our transaction! I called ebay and they said they are working on it.So needing a set of heads I decided to bid on another set he had up for auction only to find now that Alan blocked me from purchasing from him!Upon reviewing this with ebay they did determine that I communicated with Alan in a business manner and did nothing wrong! The problem IS WITH ALAN!He is a SCAM Artist and knows how to work the ebay system to his advantage! All hope is not lost because what goes around comes back around to haunt ya!I know as a fact Alan has been in trouble with his business with Consumers at his Machine Shop with inferior parts sales as well as inferior machine work. Out of 100 engines he builds maybe 10 work fine as advertised! He manages to blow people off who dont either know how to file a complaint or just write it off as a bad deal!Alan changed his online ebay name to try and start over and advertise a high satisfaction rate with being a power seller! Oh yea he really power reams his customers and doesnt care about Honesty and Intergrity! Just how he can make or steal a buck today and not care about tomorrow! Hmmm sounds like an addict!Ive been a seller and buyer on ebay as long as this individual and pround to have 100% satisfaction rate and I do that by taking care of my customers!Beware of this SCAMMER/CROOK/THIEFSigned:HF
Stay away! eBay scammer (seperformance5) . He tried to get $1600 for shipping a engine 250 miles. He wouldn’t cooperate with me picking up the engine I reported him for avoiding eBay fees. Others should do the same.
I purchased a 496 from Allen three years ago, still cant get it fixed .The motor keeps breaking pushrod guides and the last time almost dropped a valve because the rocker was pushed sideways by the broken pushrod guide .It looks like the heads may have the rocker studs drilled to close to the valves because the pushrods are touching the head close to the guides so this might be junk .I spent 4 k on this motor and shipping and its a piece of junk .Never buy or deal with this guy if you value your money and actually want a motor that will work .He also tried to overcharge me on shipping, swore at me and then tried to get my negative feedback canceled on eBay by tricking me into asking for money back in return for positive review, it didnt work, but he has my money and I have a junk motor so he won.Dont trust this guy or his business
Bought a set of Pro Header LS3 heads, the parts in these heads are china junk parts and the spring seats are not machined correctly, There are no spring locators, the valve springs are walking all over the place, end result is the spec sheet said these heads could accept .680 lift cam, Hum, thats a lie, the valve guides hammered the valve seals to mush and contaminated my brand new engine i just built, this guys owes me 8000.00 plus labor. someone needs to put this guy out of business!!!!!Had a race shop re-due these heads for me so i could use them. Im now rebuilding this engine again because of all the trash that has contaminated the bottom end. What an ass.
Very bad business lied about the shipping cost told me 600 and initially then tried to charge me $1,310. never responded to any of my emails. when I contacted him on the phone he got an attitude with me and ended up hanging up on me before anything couls be resolved. cant say anything about his product seeing as how I never received it,but based on his lack of customer service and the people skills I would never deal with this seller again. I would not recommend anybody ever deal with Alan and Shaw City Engines (clewwho40) on ebay ever. BUYERS BEWARE! A word to the wise this business Shaw City engines is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau BBB due to multiple customer complaints that have not been resolved.WORST BUSINESS EVER!!!
Sold me a rare 1969 Olds 442 W30 distributor 1111933 via epay. Asked repeatedly and point blank if it was real, they gave runaround BS answers. Upon receipt it was readily apparent that the part was turned down and restamped. It was clean but otherwise semi-rectally rebuilt and functionally important parts like the mechanical advance were incorrect. Then they wanted to undo the negative feedback that resulted. HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY.
DONT BUY FROM SHAW CITY ENGINES they are CROOKS! I bought a set of Ford 460 Pro-Comp Heads from Shaw city engines fully assembled with everything they came to $1,466 dollars, I paid cash, drove straight to my mechanic to get the heads installed and my mechanic said that he dident want to install Pro-Comp Heads because that hes had nothing but problems with Pro-Comp heads and besides these ones are knock-offs from China not real pro-comps.I took them back to Shaw city engines where I just purched them less than an hour b-4 and Allen the owner was very violent about giving me my money back, I had the Pro-Comp heads in my posession less than 1 hour and when I asked for my money back Allen almost wanted to fight me, after yelling to take them hes not giving my money back, he finally came up with an idea he would give back $1,200 and told me the other $266 dollars was a restocking fee and he showed me a re-stocking fee sign hidden where people cant even see it, keep in mind I had these heads less than 1 hour, they were still in package not even opened and Allen the owner almost wanted to fight me instead of just giving me my money back. Allen finally gave me $1200 of the $1466 so I left and told him I was going to make a bad review, DONT BUY FROM SHAW CITY ENGINES, ALLEN is a rip-off, do not buy anything from them.
I purchased a 496 from Alan on E Bay last year and literally threw it away! After receiving it and checking it over, there was one problem after another. Four of the cylinder walls still contained rust and pitting up to 0.050 deep. What kind of machine shop would accept that? The ring gaps were 50 thou. on all rings. The heli coils in the heads had not even been set. There were 0.030 spacers under all valve springs with no consideration for height, or tension. I tried speaking to Alan but like everyone else, hes arrogante, obnoxious and just plain a pig! I eventually threw away the entire engine assembly and kept the Pro Comp Heads, thinking he couldnt screw them up? I installed them on my Dart Big M and have run them for approx. a 1000 miles, only to find Im going through oil like crazy. Took them off last week and found the valve guides are totally worn out! So now Im throwing away the rest of his E Bay Special.!!! Dont, Dont Dont, under any circumstances, ever buy from this crook!!!!
We bought a crankshaft pulley from alan online through ebay. The service was great it arrived very quickly and at a reasonable price. We couldnt find this pulley from any auto dealer in gainesville. The pulley was a serpentine 6 groove crankshaft pulley for a 86 gmc sierra classic. Thanks alan your amazing really appreciate it.
Buyer Be Aware.Drive on by unless you like throw money away. Bad product, Poor Service, Bad Policies,
I had purchased engine parts for my flathead from shaw city engines on ebay. They claimed the parts were an upgrade from the original parts in the engine . The parts were installed and did damage to my engine I notified them via email spoke to alan and received no satisfaction. I did some research on shaw city engines and found similar cases such as mine.. Do not fall victim to this place .
Dont buy from him period.
Hes a lying thief. I bought something of his off eBay, he sent out the wrong part. I called him, he wouldnt exchange, refund, replace the part in any way. What a pos.
Bought the heads ran the for about 7 miles one of the sleeves on the valve backed out and allowed the valve to hit the piston and they don’t want to refund me my money don’t buy anything from them they don’t stand behind there product I will be blasting them on every site I can come across junk heads
This guy is a crook! BUYER BEWARE!!!
