Best donuts on the east coast. My husband and I stopped in last weekend & we were blown away. He tried one of your breakfast sandwiches & we also got about 6 different flavors of donuts. Each one was AMAZING!!! (The blueberry crumble donut was my favorite!!)
A true jewel. Donuts are extraordinary, and you have to love the socially conscious nature of the shop. Theyre making the world a better place through donuts as well as everything they stand for. Will be coming by every time Im in Front Royal!
I heard how great this place was, I figured I would give it a shot. Im so glad that I did! These are probably the best donuts I ever had! If youre wondering if this place is worth a visit, I hope this review convinces you to try it.
I went to NGDS yesterday to see what was available and how the store was and I was really impressed. Ive never been to a donut shop before but this place was great. The first thing that everyone will notices is the style. Definitely harkens back to an earlier time and done well. Theres plenty of space around to sit and eat and the location was good too.I ordered a dozen donuts (which Im still enjoying) and a sandwich. The donuts are amazing! One donut, the Waken Bacon, was topped with bits of bacon and sweet caramel glaze. I really thought that I was biting into a morning breakfast of pancakes and bacon with that. Another one I really loved was the blueberry donut. Ive always loved these kinds of donuts so it was great to see them capture everything about it well and also incorporate an excellent blueberry glaze also. The sandwiches look good too and the one I had was incredible so Ill be back for more later.Overall the place is amazing so do yourself a good favor and head down there and see it for yourself.
We tried a few different donuts and they were all good. The problems were that the store was dirty. The floors and windows were not clean at all. The plate we were given for the donuts had a greasy film on it like it hadnt been washed with soap. There was only one person in the store this Sunday morning around lunch time. I definitely want to give this place another chance on my next visit to town.
This place is a true original gem surrounded by more cookie cutter businesses. Its also far more than meets the eye. Lunch paninis served all day, more panini selections during breakfast hours, coffees, pies, breads, and of course the donuts. Man! The donuts! They are true art. TASTY art! Then there is the atmosphere. These ladies offer a warm inviting space where everyone is welcome. The joy they exude in what they have created here cannot be overlooked. It is infectious and inspiring. That great spirit extends beyond the shop doors, as they have multiple community programs that give back in a big fashion. SIX STARS!
I visited the store this past week expecting to experience all of the good people have been saying about it, and to my surprise, was quite disappointed. We arrived in the middle of the day so we werent expecting it to be too busy, but youd expect the employees would still be on their game for any customer that walks in the door. The young lady greeted us politely, but she was wearing sweat pants and a hoodie (not professional attire,) was not wearing gloves while handling the donuts, and her hair was not tied back properly (which is actually a big no-no in the food industry. Nobody wants hair in their food.) The shop has the kitchen right behind the check out counter, which is fine. It was not in a clean or sanitary state, especially on show for customers.I purchased a 4.41 dollar donut. The price was steep, but the donut was alright. However, buying a likewise priced box of donuts at walmart wouldve been just as good. After my donut, I went into the bathroom to wash my hands, and there was no soap or paper towels.I would not recommend this place to anyone as a top pick for pastries in Front Royal.
Ending up stopping here with a friend on a road trip. This place was excellent! Great food and they used an aged cheddar in the sandwich which made it all the better.
Absolutely love this place! My whole family loves their donuts and pies. Very kid friendly bakery.
Very cute! Very interesting selection of doughnuts. I got a sandwich also and it was good too.Hope you guys expand!!
Mediocre at best. Lack selection. Have had better from Strites and The Fractured Prune when it was around where I worked.Terrible attitude from the owner. Always bashing the community of customers who supported her during the opening of this shop. Posts nasty remarks on Facebook about her customer base then deletes replies and bans people.Employees were pleasant. Product was not. Product has potential, the business foundation does not. If you hate your customers, I cannot imagine what you do to your product.
Got a birthday cake today for my birthday. It had black lettering on it. Who does that, UGH! They should think about how depressing that is the next time they write on someones birthday cake.
The sandwiches were not very good. Came in on a sunday and the lady seemed bothered that we were there, she made 2 sandwiches from the menu that were made with pre-sliced deli meat then put them in the microwave making them soggy. The description sounded great, however when youre advertising country ham and selling deli ham on a sandwich, its a real turn off. And the donuts were not great.
Very nice place and unique donuts that were a big hit, they also have a few options for the Gluten Free people.
These are without a doubt the most delicious, fresh, large, and reasonably priced doughnuts I have ever eaten. The plain, glazed, and jelly are awesome. I get them, pre-ordered by phone, and pick up at Annandale Farmers Market on Thursdays. They are gone in 24 hours. You must try them!
A cool place to stop for a sandwich and coffee. I enjoyed mine!
Update: the doughnuts are really good; that has stayed the same. However, the lack of professionalism and business savvy of the staff and owner is beyond disappointing. I tried contacting them four times (through phone, email, Facebook, and going into the store) about my wedding order and never heard back from them. Not a call back, email back, nor could I place an order in the store (I was told to wait closer to my wedding date). The staff in the store seem unenthused, bored, and genuinely disinterested in customer service- other than boxing up doughnuts (in too small of a container) with a blank stare. The drive and creativity of the owner is still admirable and I really wish her nothing but the best and success with her endeavors. However, advice from one customer service career woman to another, study business along with culinary arts and really heed your customers comments not as a personal attack but as a source of advisement to always strive to be better. 👍🏼Cant wait to see this business grow and learn and continue to make awesome doughnuts.Old review: I met these girls at the Metro DC Food Show and Im so glad I did!!! These donuts are beyond delicious and there is so much creativity and talent in the owners. I cant wait for them to do the desserts for my wedding!!
6 out of 5 stars this place will go nationwide in 10 years
I came here on a Friday around 7:45am and waited till 8:15 and no one showed up to open the store. Even though the store hours say 7am.
Totally worth the hour wait (and the 90 minute ride home with a sugared-up-overtired toddler). Fantastic!!
They were awesome, they tasted like gold in my mouth.
Greatest quality donuts around with the best service!
Donuts are good, people complaining about the name need to grow up and get over it.
Visiting from Norfolk, VA. Well worth the long ride
I love this place.
Awesome doughnuts!
