Great shop. Had a very bad experience with a machine shop out near Williston, paid over $700 for work that was done or was done wrong. Josh and Emma made everything right. Highly recommend

Outstanding customer service and quality machine work. J&K built a customized engine for me, to my specs, that is everything I had hoped it would be. This is because Josh took my specs and added things like shortening the valve guides and changing valve springs to ensure it would work correctly - things I had not mentioned.Highly recommended - and I am admittedly very hard to please.

Poor experience, had to remove and return head at my expense following blundered valve job. Shop was dirty and disorganized.

I brought Josh and Kieth a short block and head from a 2006 Mini Cooper S to have new rod and crank bearings done, new rings and seals as well as a valve job with porting and polishing the head. Both Kieth and Josh were friendly and took the time to show me what and how they were going to do it. They advised me that they did not have a current source for the parts that I needed so they let me obtain the parts myself which saved me time and money. As soon as they got the parts they needed the went right to work and I had the motor back inside of a week. Their prices were very reasonable. They came highly recommended by several friends of mine. They did not dissapoint. The Mini is up and running perfectly.This was the first Mini motor they have done so they cared about the job they did and they asked to see the Mini when it was finished.

There are not many businesses that I actually enjoy doing business with, but J&K is one of them. Very knowledgeable, helpful and eager to do the required task I ask of them. Along with late model motors, they have helped me build a 37 Hudson splasher engine, several Studebaker V-8 and 6 cylinder engines and just finished up a 1951 Hudson Hornet 308 block and all needed machine work, that I picked up today then left a 53 Hornet block and head for them to do the machine work on. After years of dealing with different machine shops, J&K is the only shop I go to for any machine work I need.Great to deal with, no BS and trust worthy.

Ive been going to J&K for almost a decade now for various machine work, welding, or other mechanical projects with nothing less than stellar results. Theyve taken on all kinds of jobs for me from small welding jobs, to full blown custom one off race engines for professional level racing without complaint. Even so far as to drive 2hrs+ to hand deliver an engine and assemble the top end on site to ensure quality, and these are just my experiences, not including the vast majority of satisfied repeat customers. Dont let the few negative reviews fool you, if they make a mistake, they fix it asap, and/or make it right with the customer, if those people refuse to give them a chance, then thats on them. If J&K qualified for a negative review, they would not be in business nearly as long as they have, and they wouldnt be a staple community and family based business of Gainesville like they have been for many many years. 5 stars, and highly recommended for any project, big or small.

Ive had many engines built here and never had a problem with any machine work from there. from sensible 4cylinders to wicked V8s.Josh and Kieth really know what they are doing and provide top notch service to everyone, they have even made house calls to me when I was having trouble with a project of mine. They are true local business heros!

After they rebuilt my motor for the second time they installed plastic timing chain guides instead of the metal ones but told me they put the metal ones on. Top bell housing bolts fell out after 2 days. Had a head gasket leak due to head bolts being loose. Pulled the head and wow, they had the timing off 1 tooth. Paid $1100 to have top and bottom end freshened up. Put everything together and it smoked badly from start up. They said to drive it for 500 miles and bring it back if still smoking. Used 13 quarts of oil. They said the valves were too tight and damaged the guides and seals which is impossible on a 22r. Got charged another $1000 for them to pull the motor fix it and reinstall. Good luck with these crooks.

Just finished a head gasket replacement on my 2001 Jeep Cherokee and from the minute I got on the phone with this locally owned business, I knew I was in the right place. Josh knew about my cylinder head and engine, a 4.0 inline six, and let me know they are great engines but the cylinder heads were not the best built. He was honest with me out of the gate. Luckily mine was not cracked as revealed during the pressure test. Josh was straight with me about the cost for testing even if it was cracked, and the total cost of resurfacing the head. I left minus $200 with a well cleaned and resurfaced head. And both of the guys I dealt with were friendly. Sometimes in a machine shop you get treated like an idiot if you dont know exactly what youre doing, but I didnt get that at all. Thank you J & K for helping me save my Jeep.

First time customer with J&K. Had my Subaru WRX cylinder heads pressure tested, valve job, and resurfaced. They rebored my cylinders, resurfaced the deck, and balanced my rotating assembly. PTW clearance was spot on. I’ve put 5,000 miles on the engine and have no issues with the work performed. Josh is knowledgeable and very helpful. I will bring any of my future business to them and highly recommend.

Polite, knowledgeable, honest, helpful. These guys helped me out of a jam when I broke a bolt off into a machine at work. The fella even helped identify why things went wrong and how to avoid it. Plus there are kittens roaming the yard, which is always cute.

Gave these guys a 3RZ I4 head from a 95 Tacoma to rebuild when I had to replace a blown head gasket in March 15 . They pressure tested it first then resurfaced the head and did a valve job. Did a great job for a fair price, the engine is better than before, and still running strong more than a year later.

I take all of my business to these guys. They do excellent work at reasonable prices. No one in town can beat that.

Very good job on my cylinder heads. Had a few bent valves they got it taken care of. Cleaned the heads real nice as well look like they came from factory. I would recommend anyone to take their parts that they need work on. Good time in and out service and price didn’t break my wallet. Very helpful and treat you like a person not like you don’t know anything. I can’t thank them enough.
