The only reason this is given a two star rating is what is in this review.Ted and I discussed the different covers for our deck and went with the permanent covering. Glad we did as now we do not have to worry about items getting wet and the ability to sit outside as it rains. I have the usual deck rectangular in shape and on each side there is a downspout from the gutters. Teds idea was to tie into the downspout from the gutter on the cover. As the cover was installed over the deck, a worker said I would have to use smaller bulbs in my spotlight as the cover would be close. My thought is that as the cover goes it extends beyond the deck about a foot or so. My thought is that the deck would be blocking some of the areas the spotlight would cover. I later looked at the light and the cover was extended toward the drain opposite the one we discussed and this completely covered my spotlight. Now the light is useless. I called Ted and informed him of this and he told me to hire an electrician to make to repair. I told him it should be his responsibility as he is the one that made the light useless. Ted replied with thisWe are pleased to know that you and Renee are enjoying the canopy and feel it was a good decision. The reason the canopy was allowed the few extra inches was to fully cover the deck area and rail from the possibility of splash. Obviously we had limited pitch because of the height of the windows which you were aware of.Robert informed me of the situation with bulbs being a safety issue being so close to the soffit and said that they would put smaller bulbs in if you could get them. I will still have our people put in some different bulbs, at no cost to you, if you purchase and provide the bulbs. However, electrical work is outside our line of work.Moving the light fixtures was and is not in our scope of work, thereby it is a project for an electrician to perform. Our focus was on installing a good quality canopy for you which you agree we accomplished. I agree that noticing the effect on the light prior to the installation would have made it easier for an electrician to accomplish, but that being said, that would be your project responsibility, Let me explain about the safety issue. The spotlight has been in place on that soffit for the last twelve years. Where are spotlights supposed to be placed? There is no safety issue with the light on the soffit, the safety issue is that the cover is directly under the spotlight and no regular bulb can be placed in the socket. I dont know how fire resistant the cover is but having a spotlight touching it could become a safety issue. The extension of the cover should have been in direct line with the wall and I understand about not having splash, but what occurred is that the deck was extended to the south beyond the wall and hence covering my spotlight. Had the drain been placed on the other side as I understood what would happen, there would not have been any reason to extend beyond the wall and the normal splash distance my spotlight would still be operational.Ted has made it clear that he will not move the light to a position of use so I have no option but write this review, post the same with the Better Business Bureau and proceed with action in the small claims court.I am having my roof replaced and if they cover my chimney in the process, as Ted thinks it would be my responsibility to have someone from the chimney profession to remove the shingles. Please. As I told Ted, love the cover, and thanks for the good work. But I fear this problem will have me in doubt as to his good reasoning.Anyone wishing to discuss this or wish to have pictures of the fixture, please call Lanier Aluminum Products and ask for my phone number, I give them authority to release it to anyone interested.
