My husband and I have been working with Staw & Co since we bought our home in 2019. They did a bathroom vanity for us, a custom dining table, a media console, and the icing on the cake was a full kitchen and bar-area design with custom cabinets (2021). Most people think that because Straw & Co are custom cabinet craftsman they would be too expensive but actually they turned out to be very reasonably priced for the high-end cabinets they make and install. Most importantly, they are a professional crew - they take pride in their work and it shows! Love, love, love this company and their work. Highly recommend.
Jason and his team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They created and installed custom cabinets in our kitchen, master bathroom and guest bathroom. He also updated outdated wood windowsills with modern, clean white sills. Created and installed is an understatement. We underwent a renovation in our home and Jason and his installation team (Patrick and Jay) helped the whole way - from fine tuning the design, to completing drawings for our contractors and subs, to fork lifting a refrigerator into my home. I dont know of another business that would do this. Responsive, timely, professional, etc. Prices more than fair, and great service across the board. Patrick and Jay left my house clean throughout installation. I cannot say enough positive things.
Straw and Company stand by their proclamation of fine custom woodwork. We were fortunate to hire Straw & Co. to design, build and install our custom kitchen and bathroom cabinets in our recent renovation project. Not only did they provide crucial design elements during the conceptual phase, but they went above and beyond during installation: Straw & Co. made the 770-mile trek to our home in Northern Virginia for the installation! The crew worked effortlessly, under the guidance of Jason Straw and were able to address any installation concerns on the fly. Hands down and without hesitation we recommend Straw & Co. for all aspects of kitchen and bathroom cabinetry: design, build and installation.
My wife and I just finished a 6 month home renovation with the bulk of the project being a complete remodel of the kitchen. While there were many moving parts, the one area that went flawlessly was the cabinet design and install by Jason Straw and his crew. Jason was super responsive and there are just not enough superlatives to say how pleased I am with the end result. Gainesville is fortunate to have this level of craftsmanship in a local company.
Jason and his team are the ultimate craftsmen. We worked with Straw and Co. on a major kitchen renovation, custom mantel and entertainment center and a master bathroom renovation. Jason has an artists eye and provided suggestions that aligned with my vision for the design. My custom cabinets were made with amazing wood veneers in unique varieties as well as glass. Jason works well with various materials. When it was time for installation, Jason and his team were efficient, on time and kept the work space clean. I wouldnt hesitate to work with Jason again (and I plan on it)!
We had several people tell us that what we wanted to do required a speciality cabinet maker and they recommended Straw and Company. We met with Jason and worked out all that we wanted and he worked on getting it done. The quality is fantastic, everything fits together perfectly, seems and joints are all aligned. One of a kind kitchen that fits our house perfectly. I spend most of my day in this area of the house and it was worth every dollar.
Straw & Company assisted us in the design and installation of a teal bathroom custom vanity. Jason helped us to design and walked us through the process. Being wood grains, precision is necessary and our teak vanity is perfect. They removed the old vanity and granite, removed and cleaned the area and installed the new vanity in one day. I would recommend Jason Straw and Straw & Company for any wood working. Straight forward, quality and professionalism.
Jason and his team were exceptional to work with and exhibited the highest degree of professionalism. We were immediately impressed by Jason’s knowledge and experience, his co-workers (and his workshop!). We first ordered a bathroom vanity and all went exceptionally well from design and build, to installation, communication and follow-through. We then ordered a full set of kitchen cabinets that was completed with a similar very high level of quality and professionalism (including installation by Patrick and Jay). We are very pleased with the results and look forward to working with Straw and Co again in the future.
Jason built our custom black walnut Selig Z style sofa, and we truly could not be happier! He was such a pleasure to work with, from start to finish. Jason is an expert craftsman, and a perfectionist. Every detail was addressed, and we were kept informed of the progress of our sofas creation during the process. So worth the wait. A beautiful, functional piece of art that we get to use and enjoy every day.
From start to finish, the process of working with Jason and his team was easy and fun, and the finished product is absolutely stunning. We started with an overly complicated design of our own, but Jason expertly guided us to a simpler and, frankly, more beautiful design. A visit to the studio to pick wood was fun, and we were glad he let us borrow samples to make the final choice because the hands-down winner was not the one we expected! The guys who came to install the cabinetry were professional, did excellent work, and were lovely to have around for the two days it took to complete the job. And the final product looks better than I could have imagined! We absolutely love it and are already thinking about what other projects we might be able to do with Jason and his team.
Jason and his team designed and made absolutely beautiful cabinets for our master bath. We were able to choose a sustainable wood that brings the unique, modern, mid-century look we wanted. He was on-time, the prices were more than fair, and they were meticulous with installation. I hope to have another opportunity to add some of his artistry to our home!

Their ethics, customer service and attention to detail are impeccable. If you want a real modern custom design, with Straw team there is no fixed line set-up and limitations. Here is my kitchen in black Richlite & recovered Florida cypress.
The guys at Straw and Co. are unparalleled to standard cabinet contractors. The whole experience : schematic concepts, stylistic details, incredibly orchestrated installations, was incredible. These guys go the extra mile to do things right, be it equipment, expertise and their professional recommendations. Some many times, you have contractors tell you what you cannot do, or cannot have on a project. These guys bring your most intricate design dreams to reality. Exquisite, incredibly crafted millwork, cool team, and amazing final product.
I thought working with a custom cabinet shop would be out of reach. Working with Jason and his team, we were able to design a custom kitchen for our budget that’s beautiful, unique, functional - something that we can call our own! I love supporting local businesses and Straw and Co is a best in class shop! The project can in on time and on budget. Our kitchen is a joy thanks to Jason and his team. They are craftsman! Don’t go to a big box when you CAN have the kitchen of your dreams and at the same time support local talent!
Straw & Company was one of the best companies we worked with while building our new home. Jason has been extremely professional from our first meeting to the installation. The planning, design, building and installation were amazing. I would recommend them to anyone who wants beautiful woodwork for their home. Nothing is out of their range.
Beautiful craftsmanship, we totally love the live edge cypress dining table they did for us. They are a great company to work with and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Great service, wonderful people.
Straw and Co. did outstanding work. They had not done many projects in my area before. Everyone who ha seen the finished product has been impressed. Excellent quality and craftsmanship. Every day when they were done the site was spotless.
Jason and his team are the best in the business. We built a new home and went through two different cabinet makers before we found Jason. We are very detailed oriented people - - Jason matched our passion for workmanship, scheduling, and communication. He truly cares about what he does and wanted us to be happy. He was extremely patient as we spent a couple hours with him at his studio picking out the right cabinets and veneers as well as patterns to those veneers. He is thorough and professional. I highly recommend him and his company to anyone looking for a quality cabinet maker!
We had Jason and his team do some beautiful sliding barn doors in our house that we have been extremely happy with. We get all sorts of comments on them from people who think they are AWESOME. Jason and his team were very prompt and professional. The install was seamless and I dont think they left an ounce of dust behind!! We like it so much that we are going to have them do some more cabinets in our office and possibly a matching desk. These are true craftsman and if that is what you are looking for then you will not be disappointed!!!
Jason and his team do Outstanding one of kind work! He did 5 projects in our house and from start to finish the process was professional, clean and done on time. We couldn’t be more thrilled at how everything turned out. He’s capable of making any idea Come to life. Looking forward to working with him again in the near future.
Support your local local craftsmen and women, go to Straw and Co. You will not be disappointed!
Price, professionalism, and style were unparalleled. Jasons crew was a pleasure to work with. They were punctual and created the most minimal mess while doing a superior job. Jason had great ideas and suggestions at every point whenever there was a difficulty he was available to consult. He kept us well informed if there was a change in the time and the time and cost estimates were spot on.
Jason Straw Woodworker creates beautiful furniture that is best described as art. He recently made a dining table for me out of old heart pine that had been recovered from the St Johns river around 20 years ago. The pile of planks suggested a rough work table at best, not the amazing hand-planed gorgeous table that emerged. Jason works true to the wood, honoring its quirks, whirls and history. The structure of the table is very strong and Jasons design captured my general ideas of form far better than I ever could have imagined. He produced the table on schedule and on budget. As a parting gesture of kindness, Jason also transported my old table and chairs to their new location. He is just the BEST, as a person, an artist, an honest businessman and a maker of fine furniture. I recommend him without any reservation at all.
We used Straw and Company when we built our house. The work they did was fantastic. Jason had so many great ideas and was so knowledgeable about all the wood. The cabinets are all custom to our needs and they are beautiful. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Jason and his crew were the BEST!! Jason is an artist when it comes to his woodwork. We love our recovered river cypress cabinets and amazed at how well Jason was able to match up the grain! He is VERY detail oriented and makes sure you are pleased with his work. The price of his cabinets was comparable to the Box stores but FAR ABOVE the quality and ability to design what you want. I have recommended his company to many people who love the new look of our kitchen!!
Jason Straw created a beautiful kitchen for us. We provided plans and he made them come to life. He understood what would improve the plans more than we did. There were so many times when his attention to detail took the plans from standard cabinetry to true art. One example of this: There are many posts in the cabinets, and he made sure than all of the maple on the posts came from the same piece of wood, so the posts form a seamless whole across the kitchen. He resolved a problem with the ovens and corrected an issue the manufacturer didnt even catch. The quality of the work is flawless. All of the components work perfectly. He has the eye of an artist and the workmanship of a true craftsman. We cant recommend him highly enough!
Major renovation of a historic home requires expertise. This project involving storied University of Florida Campus architects personal residence presented the ultimate challange. Enter Jason Straw: woodworker, expert in old fashioned quality and service.Straw Woodworking team brought strong visioning skills and helped incorporate modern interpretation for our stunning gourmet kitchen. Fine woodwork on time and on budget for a discerning customer. Bravo!
Straw & Co. built two vanities for us. They did an excellent job, installed them on time and were refreshingly professional.
Jason Straw designed and built a beautiful kitchen, dining. work table for us. Constructed from river recovered heart pine the table is breathtaking and beautiful. Extremely strong, the table is a practical addition to our farmhouse kitchen. We left a number of the design details to Jasons discretion and were rewarded with incredible beauty. We smile every time we walk into our house and see this beautiful object.
I met Jason through my son who had visited his studio during Art Walk. When I visited his studio, I was struck by the quality and beauty of his work (I should say art work). I asked Jason to design custom cabinets for our bedroom and one for our living area. The one in the bedroom is built of recovered cypress. It is truly a work of art. The patterns on the wood match and continue from one door to the next. He does not use any stains, so there is no way you can hide mistakes or flaws. The shelf and cabinet in the living area is walnut and the door handles are custom made of rosewood. I wish I could take a picture and post it here.Jason is truly an artisan, who enjoys what he is doing and his joy is transmitted through his work to his customers. He is very easy to work with and I recommend that you give him freedom to design and recommend the type of wood best suited for your job. He works within your budget and I promise you that you would not be disappointed. Gainesville is lucky to have a man of his ability and creativity living here.
Cant say enough good things about working with Jason. The work was beautiful. For about what it would have cost me for high-end cabinets from a big box store, Jason built this very long Zebrawood vanity to my specs. He was extremely helpful in suggesting a configuration that would work. This vanity is probably the nicest piece of furniture I own now :-) He also built a very large full length cabinet with mirrored door for the same space. Easy to work with. Very fair pricing. A final product that is really beautiful. Ill be back!
Excellent in all aspects. Jason responded immediately. We agreed to what was to be done at a fair price. The table was picked and returned within a few days. The finish he applied is perfect for the type of wood, making the grain stand out, not the finish. I recommend him for any type of woodworking project you may want to have done.
I recently asked Jason to make me both a record cabinet and a desk. He replied to my request quickly and was able to accommodate my timeline for an upcoming move. Both the record cabinet and desk are absolutely beautiful and I couldnt be happier. Also, Jason took the time to explain all of the unique features of both pieces. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to have beautiful yet functional hand crafted furniture in their home.
Let me begin by saying that I was somewhat skeptical when my wife indicated she was considering a custom woodworker for our master bath remodeling project. I assumed it would be cost-prohibitive and too time consuming. Now that our project is complete, I am happy to say I could not have been more wrong. From the moment we met Jason at his shop (a grown man’s candy store in my opinion), I was struck by his passion for his work and his attention to details.Throughout the process, I remained focused on quality and craftsmanship while my wife focused on design, functionality, and aesthetics. Jason’s finished products exceeded both of our expectations. He and his staff installed the cabinets and custom wall mirror with the same preciseness and attention to details that they displayed in there woodworking. His employees were courteous, professional and punctual.Perhaps most surprising to me was how competitively he prices his products and services. We visited most every custom cabinet maker in the area, as well as the big box stores. I refused to pay thousands of dollars for cabinet construction that included stapled drawers, inferior drawer slides, and below average materials. I was very surprised to find that Jason’s prices were only slightly higher than the big box, not-so-custom, stores and in most cases less expensive than other custom cabinet makers. His quality and craftsmanship is second to none.If you are skeptical, as I was, I encourage you to visit Jason’s shop and spend some time with him discussing your needs. I believe you will not only be impressed with his skills and competitive pricing, but also recognize his passion for the art of woodworking. In my opinion, he is fine furniture maker, an artist, who happens to also make cabinets. He was an all-around pleasure with which to collaborate on our project.
We are in the process of totally remodeling our master bath. Jason custom built the teak vanity and designed the cabinet for more drawer space. I LOVE it!! The drawers are deeper and wider then I could have purchased anywhere else. I love his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Jason and his crew built and installed my beautiful contemporary walnut kitchen cabinets. Very well built with precision and installed perfectly. They finished my oak floors and they also look amazing. Very well done. Thank you!
Jason and his team did a tremendous job creating my home office. He spent time with me asking for my input, but, importantly, gave me the benefit of his experience and expertise in guiding me along the way. We could not be happier with the professionalism and the finished product - beautiful burl, oil finished walnut desk with a leather top and beautiful cabinetry with the same finish. Jason is a dying breed - a true craftsman who has a genuine affection for his work. It shows at every step of the way. Thanks, Jason.
I had Jason re-surface the oak floors in my house. He did a great job. He seemed very knowledgable of all the steps of re-finishing and was done when he said he would be. He communicated throughout the process both via email and phone. I had a lot of questions and required some documents to be presented before I hired him and he was very cooperative throughout all of the process. I am very pleased with his work and would definitely hire him again.
I simply love the four pieces these guys created for me! Each commissioned piece surprised me - in a wonderful way. Jason has a calm intensity about how he approaches his design that leads to easy communication of ideas. He captured what I was looking for before I was able to fully articulate it. The recovered cypress dining room table is the perfect fusion of form, feel, and function. The walnut bench doesn’t match- matching sets aren’t for me- but rather beautifully complements the table. The forms are slick; the design is ergonomic; the wood is stunning. Jason’s Brain Matter ebony carving mounted on the wall provides a mesmerizing focus point when the mind is allowed to drift. The three pieces merge as a perfect grouping – simple complexity, craftsmanship, and artistry; a welcoming place to eat, drink, read, write, or simply sit and talk. For the latest piece, Jason found an unusual wood, marbled Padauk. The flowing grain and the juxtaposition of honey-colored sapwood with reddish-brown hardwood are just as striking as the surreal design of the floating entertainment console.Jason, Neil, and Patrick’s execution and delivery are both professional and personable. The team has tremendous creative energy and camaraderie. Their pieces are unique, their quality is outstanding, their fees are very reasonable, and they are a pleasure to work with. I have only praises for them. Thank you again guys!
Over the summer, we were at a friend’s house admiring their coffee table and they gave us Jason’s contact information. We talked with him and were convinced that he was at least as interested in the quality of our table as we were. We were especially interested in the concept of river-recovered cypress as a material. Other than that, we basically trusted his instincts. We sent him dimensions and gave him free rein. We LOVE the table that he made for us! Its beautiful and strong and really just perfect. We will definitely work with Jason again!
Jason is a talented and creative artisan who can turn a piece of wood into a work of art. His work is reminiscent of George Nakashima. Jason is very professional and easy to work with. He communicates with you during the process and finishes within the time he says it will take. He really is a hidden gem. I hope to have him make many more beautiful things for me very soon.
New year, new table, very happy! That summarizes how I feel about being a client of Jason’s. Before I started working with him to build my spacious office desk (36” x 73”) I went to the “quality” furniture stores in town and felt underwhelmed by their selection. I wanted quality and I just wasn’t finding it there. Then I found Jason’s portfolio of work online and I called him about my table. I wanted something that was unique and built from quality material. He worked with me on ideas within my budget. He responded to my emails quickly and delivered the furniture on schedule. It was a personal experience that I’m grateful to have been a part of. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a showroom piece of furniture for their home.
I commissioned Jason Straw to build a dining room table for our new home. I had seen other pieces of his custom furniture on display during Art Walk and knew I liked his unique style. I asked Jason to use his discretion to design a table that would be appropriate for the size of the room and compliment the wood floors and custom kitchen cabinets in the house that he also built and installed. Jason delivered a gorgeous custom river recovered heart pine dining room table just in time for Christmas dinner. The whole family was impressed by the beautiful wood, impeccable craftsmanship, and lovely line of the legs.
Jason installed floors and stairs in our home. WOW! What a great craftsman! I could not be more pleased with the work, the floors look perfect and the stairs he did the landing fan pattern custom cutting and beveling each piece. It is a real statement section. I would use him again for any woodworking project. Thanks,
I found Jasons website while searching for handmade record cabinets. Once I talked to him it was clear that he is passionate about his trade. We selected a four drawer cabinet of black limba and black walnut. He built the piece in the time he estimated and safely shipped it to our home. We are amazed with this beautiful piece of furniture. It truly is art. We hope to add some more of Jason Straws work to our home one day soon.
After going to several furniture stores to find a unique coffee table I had no luck. Jason was recommended by a friend and built exactly what I wanted, it is absolutely beautiful and more functional than I had anticipated. I would highly recommend him and will definitely be using him in the future. Great craftsmanship.
Jason designed and crafted a beautiful dining room table for me. He listened closely to what I was looking for, asked for feedback during the design process, and created a custom piece within my budget. He even worked with me on a payment plan. Im already looking forward to commissioning a bench to go along with the table. I would absolutely recommend Jason Straw Woodworking.
Jason and his team are brilliant craftspeople and consummate professionals. They produced perfect cabinets, shelves and countertops and did so on time and within the budget. (My request -- for rotary cut plywood and formica countertops with metal edging -- was unusual, and they handled it easily.) In addition, the installation was extremely precise -- they trimmed the thick, living-room bookshelves to within 1/10 in order for them to exactly conform to irregularities in the drywall. In addition to that, they all showed up on site well dressed and well equipped. They worked full days (with obvious breaks for lunch etc) and cleaned up after themselves after they were done. They make it all look easy. (If only the other subcontractors at our house were a fraction as skilled, efficient and respectful as these guys!)
I purchased Jasons Poul Jensen Z-Inspired solid walnut chair. I discovered the chair through eBay and really liked it, but the price was a little out of range of what I normally spend on furniture. However, I was drawn to its solid construction, craftsmanship, quality materials and design aesthetic. I kept going back and forth whether to shell out the dough. I emailed Jason a few questions and he told me to give him a call any time if I had any additional questions. I called Jason and asked him about 20 questions about everything from joinery techniques to shipping. Jason happily and thoroughly answered all of my questions honestly and directly; he told me the truth, not what he thought I wanted to hear. I decided to take the plunge and purchase the chair. The chair was delivered with the white glove treatment today, wrapped in a blanket. When the blanket was removed I was 100% sure that I had made the right decision to purchase the chair. One thing I will say is photos of Jasons work do not do the actual piece justice. The chair looked even more substantial and solid than in the photos. I am completely OCD when it comes to stuff, and even a little scratch would make me lose sleep. The chair was in immaculate condition. I am glad I invested in a truly heirloom quality hand-made piece. More people should support the few independent craftsman like Jason. He is putting objects into the world embodying a rare commitment to craftsmanship and way of living just as much as serving a utilitarian function.
Jason built a farmhouse table for my husband and I, and it is simply gorgeous. From the initial conversations until after final delivery, the service provided by Jason and his team has been prompt and professional. It is clear that Jason puts his heart and soul into his work - our table is perfect, and we can tell that it was lovingly made. I would not hesitate to work with Jason again, and we highly recommend him for custom wood work.
Jason made some beautiful custom entry doors for us out of swamp recovered cypress. It was a pleasure working with him. We are very pleased with the doors and hope to have more custom work done in the future.
We recently commissioned an LP/record cabinet from Jason and from the moment the piece entered our home, it just blew us away. The crispness of the lines of the cabinet itself and the sculpting of the legs are as artful and meticulous as the work is beautiful as a whole - and the veneer! Well, the veneer just defies description. Honestly, Jason is much more than a master craftsman, he is an artist of the highest order.Additionally, if you are a vinyl enthusiast, your record collection is simply incomplete without an exceedingly meaningful piece of furniture like this in which to house your beloved LPs.Finally, Jason is everything that is good and right and worthy about local indie businesses and should be supported as such (and yes, we are already saving for our next Jason Straw!)
Jason and his team did an amazing job creating the kitchen and bathroom cabinets, as well as refinishing the wood floors, for my midcentury modern house. The team was timely, professional, cost-effective and extremely skilled. I would highly recommend them for any woodworking or cabinetry projects.
Cannot say enough good things about Jason and his crew (Patrick and Will). After another flooring contractor botched the tongue oil finish on our locally milled pine flooring, Jason and crew came to the rescue. They removed the wrongly applied tongue oil finish and finished the flooring properly according to the to the tongue oil suppliers specs. My wife now loves her new eco finished flooring and the results. There is a reason this company only has 5 star reviews. Its called knowledge and professionalism .
Jason and his team did an amazing job on our kitchen cabinets. They were on time, on budget and I now have the kitchen of my dreams -- truly magazine-worthy!
I recently bought two more handmade pieces from Jason, a chair and coffee table. I expected high quality craftsmanship and was not disappointed. The coffee table particularly shows Jasons artistry--clean lines, dramatic woodgrain patterns, elegantly shaped legs. Theres a sense of satisfaction knowing Im collecting work by one of the finest furniture makers around.
Jason made me beautiful custom cabinets. I am so happy with my purchase. I would use him again. He is a true professional and a talented woodworker.
It was a breeze working with Jason and his team on my kitchen reno. The finished product exceeded my expectations. Jason was super easy and professional for myself and contractor to work with, every step of the way, design to install. Also a good value considering the quality of workmanship.
Jason and his crew were excellent!
Jason built and installed our bar top for Whiskey House in Gainesville, FL. Words cant capture the quality of work that he and his crew provided. From the first second we met Jason he captured our vision and recommended black walnut. He fashioned a 48 foot bar top with a live edge that fit perfectly with our color scheme and ambiance. Additionally, he took extreme care to make sure that it was perfectly level, giving us zero problems when we poured the glass-top epoxy finish. We get at least 3 or 4 compliments on the bar every day. On top of the incredible craftsmanship, Jason provided honest, reliable estimates and lived up to them in terms of both price and time. He truly exceeded every expectation and we cant thank him enough.
Jason combines his mastery of the craft with an eye for wood and wood grains that keep you excited to see the furniture he builds tightly into place in your home. Its more than perfectly functional. Straw has it aw.
I found Jason from a Google search and boy am I glad I did. Ive been searching for beautiful furniture for a house remodel, specifically a dining table, but I wanted to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Many pre-made pieces I found elsewhere were gorgeous but I couldnt tell from where the wood was sourced and I was worried about supporting a business that fueled deforestation in less developed countries. Jason was very accommodating and showed me a locally sourced, river-reclaimed heart pine (for the table top) and some heart pine reclaimed from a demolished warehouse (for the legs). The tabletop pieces had beautiful whorls, not in just one place but over most of the surface. Jason crafted this into a table that is truly art. It is solid, sturdy, and the wood is hard so it will resist wear and tear. The finish makes the whorls seem like they are pulsating and waving, and the finish also provides a depth making the surface seem three dimensional. I love this table, and I look forward to working with Jason for future projects.
I have to share my fabulous experience working with Jason... As a longtime woodworker and to put it simply, wood enthusiast, my jaw dropped when my ziricote CD cabinet arrived recently. (I think its still partially dropped!)Ziricote has for MANY years been my favorite wood, so I eagerly anticipated Jasons piece. He was in touch with me several times during the design phase, and was extremely committed to ensuring that I would be completely satisfied with his creation. The pictures on his website speak volumes of the cabinets beauty and functionality, but to see it in person is breathtaking! Im still trying to convince myself that its OK to place something on its top surface, lest I obscure any of its unique grain pattern. The quality and precise craftsmanship are the best I have ever seen, and my wife and I feel so very fortunate to own this work of art.
I bought two Z loveseats recently -- very well built, very comfortable. Lots of compliments from friends! And the people are very nice to deal with!
I wish there was some way to put 6 stars on this review, because Jason Straw and his team deserve them and more. They created a beautiful outdoor kitchen for me and my husband, with self-closing drawers, ingenious use of space for storage and a custom color that goes perfectly with our existing tile and upholstery. And then something terrible happened -- the paint on the drawers (special ordered from out of state) reacted badly with the mist (not direct spray) that reached the outdoor kitchen during our next pressure cleaning. The countertop, which wasnt painted, was fine, but the rest of the outdoor kitchen was left with a weirdly crackled surface. I released one of the panels and brought it in for Jason and his team to look at, they examined it and -- I was floored -- re-did all the painted faces of the outdoor kitchen at no expense to us. I tried to pay at least part of the cost and Jason wouldnt let me. Not only are he and his team incredibly good at what they do, they stand behind their work with integrity and honor. Needless to say, when we build our forever home, well be turning to Jason Straw Fine Furniture! We cannot thank them enough.
The guys at Straw and Co. are thoughtful, hardworking, and great at what they do.
Jason built a custom door, dining table, and mirror for us. He is a true artist and craftsman. We could not be more pleased with what he made for us. We wholeheartedly give him our highest recommendation.Dennis/Liz Tracy
Jason did a fantastic job on our coffee table. Very easy to work with, flexible, and easy to communicate with throughout the whole process.
After his colleagues at Sandhill Building Company removed two walls from my tiny kitchen, opening it into a great room, I called Jason Straw to discuss the matter of flooring. I wanted a seamless transition from new wood to old - where old is circa 1948, and seamless would include reconciling decades of sanding and wear. This sounded pretty challenging to me, but within 24 hours, Jason had a plan and an estimate that were simple, reasonable, and well thought out. Less than a week later, the work was executed with perfect craftsmanship and courtesy. The capable team of carpenters who work for Jason at Gainesville Wood Floors have also helped me to customize my kitchen cabinetry, and to size and cut my countertops. I look forward to trusting them in the future, with any projects that are beyond my ability. There doesnt seem to be anything - at least, carpentry related - beyond theirs.
Jason Straw gets 5 stars from us.A Google search brought us to his web page. He earned at least one star by his prompt response (then, as well as every other time we communicated with him by phone or email). He was very easy to reach. We wanted a solution to fill an empty alcove in our Delray Beach condo. We got a quote for cabinetry from Home Depot, which proved expensive and too “kitchenish.” We looked at various retail table and desk options, but nothing worked. So we decided to try something custom.A few searches soon produced Jason. We already had a few unreturned email and phone messages out to other furniture fabricators. We put the same message out to Jason. His quick reply was refreshing, and almost immediately made us forget other candidates.Jason immediately set out to understand what we wanted, and the space we were working with. He asked for photos and measurements, and we talked about our general decorating scheme. Already he was getting to know us as people. We are notorious among those who know us for having specific tastes and preferences. Jason extensively discussed our present furnishings, as well as different woods, joints, and styles. We frequently relied on the pieces shown on his web page as a common design vocabulary.Throughout the process, we found Jason to be a patient listener, adept at hearing us and translating our vision into the practicalities of woodworking. After several communications, we arrived at an ideal design. It matched everything we wanted. Jason gave us a price, and we told him we would think about it overnight before committing. That night, we found ourselves discussing Jason as much as the table itself. We realized we had come to know the man and his design ethic. We felt we had a good sense of his integrity, and were prepared to invest in the man rather than the thing. We decided without further question to commission him, but to give him space we felt he merited. So instead of specifying a particular item, we simply stated a budget, trusting him to create something for us within that constraint. He thanked us for the trust and accepted the job.A few weeks later, we received the “Nakashima inspired writing table.” It exceeded any of our expectations, and was far more imaginative an original than anything we ourselves might have conceived. It is a table-desk, with many of the individual design elements that we initially discussed, integrated in a comprehensive design of simple elegance. It blends contemporary with traditional, refined with rustic, organic with precision -- all born of a profound and sensitive understanding of the material. Our table is one of those artistic things that, the more you look at it, the more is revealed -- subtle curves and interesting angles still emerge to us. We are very pleased each time we use it or pass by it, and we know generations of our family beyond us will feel the same way about this heirloom.Thank you to Jason and his shop for such a great design experience!Dan Sanchez and Candace Carver
I needed work done on my home. Sent two emails through the two email addresses on his website and didnt even receive the courtesy of a response. I didnt call because I live overseas at the moment. Anyway, someone else got the job and my business.
