I feel like I struck gold by finding Throttle Works! My 67 Ford F100 needed brake and steering column work and they were great to deal with. Shay was very helpful and checked in frequently with updates. They did great work at a fair price and I would definitely bring my truck back there again. They are familiar with older vehicles and I highly recommend them if you have a classic that needs some work.
We had a great experience dealing with Throttle Works. Very friendly and really helpful and honest. They helped us out a lot with our 1953 Chevy Pickup. Cant thank them enough for all their support. And all the extra help to keep us on the road on our huge road trip across the country. Cant thank them enough the boys do a great job. Cheers keep up the good work.
These guys know cars inside and out and love to work with you. I had miss tuned my car at home and was in deep need of my car being able to run. Gave these guys a call got a tow truck and sent it out to them. They did exactly what I asked and got it done in the same day... what more can you ask for thanks Rory!
These guys over at Throttle works are second to none,All good projects take time, Every time I have a question or need help with tuning! with everyone’s combined expertise they always help me find an answer and they perform excellent quality work if you want Rush rush poor quality work then these guys aren’t for you but if you’re looking for excellent work with proven performance then you need to look no further I know they’re always booked out but I was always taught to not eat at an empty restaurant)😉5 stars i my book gentlemen!!!!
I have used ThrottleWorks over the past few years. They are highly professional and do excellent work. I trust their advice fully. Their solutions to problems are cost effective and realistic. These guys are a joy to work with and I highly recommend them.
I have been a customer of Throttle Works for many years. Rory, Mike, Shane and everyone else working with them are always professional and deliver what they promise. I have had everything from tuners, suspension and roll bars installed. I highly recommend Throttle Works. They are currently helping me build a 59 GMC truck and install a roll bar in my track car.
Used throttle work’s dyno to tune my car and nothing but great service from Rory and team. Thanks again for the dyno time!
Last fall, I brought my Skyline GTR in because I thought I had a catastrophic engine failure. I took it to Throttleworks based on previous conversations about the technicians being savvy experts on the platform. They instilled confidence that they would not only take care of me, but the car as well through their passion of rare Japanese sports cars. Through this process, I acquired a complete long block including wiring harness and turbos installed as I didnt get any answer or lead from them on an engine moving forward. Through a few months of this process, they had installed the replacement engine after a brief inspection, but had a problem with the way it was running. Come to find out, both turbos had exploded compressor wheels. Now, this is where Throttleworks and others might say, We are not responsible for customer supplied parts. But if we go back to the 1st part where they establish that they are experts on this platform, then that would imply that they are fully aware that these turbos come stock with ceramic compressor wheels. When the engine was on a crate, 4 bolts a piece would allow them to remove the turbos and inspect them. This did not happen nor did I think that I needed to tell them what exactly to inspect as again, they are supposed to be the experts. After installing the engine with these blown turbos, they later identified the issue and charged me for all of the excess labor due to their oversight roughly adding up to $1,800. Either they overlooked this common fact about these turbos that even I and others knew, or their process for installing a foreign engine is laid with cut corners and negligence. This operation done at a similar shop nearby confirmed that, regardless of the customers request, the oil pan and turbos would be removed and inspected. This is alone displayed their lack of professionalism, but then later I picked up the vehicle with a throttle body alignment issue. After disassembling the intake manifold myself to attempt to replace the throttle bodies, I found an entire bag in runners 5 and 6 and chewed into 1 of the throttle bodies. Again, with a proper inspection, this would have been avoided, but it feels that the minimum effort to restore this Skyline was made instead of what I expected from a foreign sports car shop. Earlier, they used a bore scope to inspect the cylinders, so I know they had the tools to identify this issue quickly. Twice their diagnostics were completely off which cost me a lot more money than I should have paid. Again, various professionals nearby agreed that this process was mishandled and I was mistreated. To get it to run properly, I had to pay another shop $900 to finish buttoning it up. Along the way, I found the turbo coolant line wasnt clamped and they found the transmission drain plug free spinning by hand. Throttleworks has completely failed as a facility to trust with technicians who can be trusted to be thorough and in the end, it cost me. I welcome any dispute of this matter, but the fact is, I am 100% certain somewhere else in town would have not only wanted to treat me right, but done a Skyline GTR right as well. There is a demand for proper handling with a vehicle like this and Throttleworks did not deliver. I did not get the feeling that a Skyline expert worked on my car.
I have used Throttle Works for track prep, obscure diagnostics, welding repairs/fabrication, part installations, and more. They have met or exceeded expectations every time and have my recommendation for anything from simple maintenance to complicated projects. The first thing I noticed about the Throttle Works team is how genuinely enthused the mechanics are about the workplace. In their personal lives, many of them have a passion for and experience with motorsports, and they bring this passion and knowledge to the workplace and take pride in their quality of work. However, keep in mind they are often busy and, as such, dont often have time to be super sociable.
The team at Throttle Works was a pleasure to work with. They are extremely knowledgeable and quick to overcome any issue. I had custom work including tuning and the outcome was impressive to say the least. Would definitely recommend and use the Throttle Works again.
I have taken my Mini and my Xterra in to Throttle Works for many different service. I have always received great customer service. I have never felt miss lead or worked over, unlike I have at other shops. The professionalism is a nice welcome. I highly recommend them to anyone that need help with their vehicle
These guys are professionals with decades of tuning and fabrication experience and they did a great job on my project vehicle. Would highly recommend to anybody doing a build from mild to wild - they can handle it all!
Ive had a number of cars pass through the care of the Throttle Works crew. From dyno tuning a track focused BMW M3 to basic maintenance on a 996 Turbo I trust them with all my vehicles. Theyre all enthusiasts and the quality they put into their work shows.
I have used throttle works a few times, customer service is always top notch, the owner and his guys are always willing to help and give advice. I work near by so they are my go to for my performance stuff. Hopefully will be coming back soon for a dyno tune on my nitrous trans am.
Great crew, clear and upfront with cost/time. Work was top quality - would highly recommend and will use again.
I had a horrible experience at throttle works. I needed my clutch replaced on my BMW 335I. I provided a new stage 3 clutch and they charged me $1000 in labor for the job. After getting my car back a week later, I heard squeaking coming from the clutch. I asked them what the sound was, and they told me that the sound was coming from the throwout bearing. I asked if it the throwout bearing needed to be replaced, and they told me Yes the throwout bearing needs to be replaced whenever the clutch is replaced. Come to find out, the throwout bearing for my car is only $50 dollars! They told me Id have to pay another $800 to install it. When Throttleworks couldve told me before the job I. I was unaware at that time that the throwout bearing needed to be replaced. Another thing to mention is that, whenever a clutch is replaced, the lines need to be bled, to release the air from the lines. They did not do that either. I realized this after 2 transmission shops diagnosed the problem. I very rarely leave bad reviews, but this one I felt was needed. Whenever I receive excellent service in any business, I always refer friends and family, but I will never recommend anybody to throttle works.
I highly recommend throttle works they have done work on my vehicles for years I send friends and family their way their good at what they do and I dont just trust anyone with my vehicles but they are trusting and friendly I will continue to use them and send people their way so give them a try you wont regret it
Love these guys! Great customer service and fair prices.
Ive used Throttle Works for everything. They built, modified and maintained both my classic car and my Ram 2500.The team hires and keeps great people who are really skilled and extremely knowledgeable. I Trust Experts who care and these guys definitely care and are so interested in their craft and being the best at it!If you want expert advice, service and people you can trust with your prized vehicle, go to Throttle Works! They listen to you, consult with you and then they get it done for you.Throttle Works is not a Walmart experience! If you expect cheap sh**y service and want to tell them exactly how it should be done because youve watched a youtube video once then go somewhere else and take your homebrew beer budget with you, these guys are not for you.I trust Throttle Works for Honest, Quality Work at Fair prices.
Excellent job in setting up a racecar suspension and in dyno tuning for performance - clear expectations / estimate, work completed on time.
Took a month before they could even tell me my car had frame damage. Tried to call multiple times and never answered. The only way to talk is if you physically go down to the shop and even then theyll most likely be on break. Expensive and lack of respect really made me dislike them. Just like what everyone else is saying, if you dont own an exotic then you wont be treated correctly.
Rory at TW tuned our hilllclimb car with a stand alone ECU. It was a very custom setup and he worked with us through the initial quirks to get it running great (and winning). I’ve recommended TW to friends for years and always gotten great feedback from Rory, Mike, and the crew down there.
I have used Throttle Works performance shop many times over the years. Whether it was a custom install of 3 point harnesses for the jump seats of my vintage Subaru Brat for added safety for my kids, or a built from the ground up suspension systems for my rotary powered Triumph Spitfire. They put an 8 point cage in my Spit and added carbon fiber doors and bonnet which netted a 110 lbs. weight reduction while adding driver safety for hill climb time attacks. Throttle Works also was able shoehorn an SR20DET and a narrowed Currie 9 inch Ford (with performance disc brakes) into my MGB without any change to its classic appearance (a potent sleeper to say the least). When they finished, it looked as though it came off the assembly line with said powerplant. In short, I have had a great experience on every level and at every turn over the years using their expertise to make my rides safe AND fast.
Great group of guys with endless skill. I had a fuel delivery issue and every shop in town gave up on diagnosing my car- these guys figured it out and got it back on the road.
Always impressed with the skill and knowledge provided by the staff at Throttleworks. I won’t take my projects anywhere else. From motorcycles to rally cars, our camper van to our autox cars. Tuning, custom one off parts, fabricating or just letting you know if your projects are realistic and what steps are needed to take for your dream project to come together at the level you’ve been envisioning. We thrash and abuse our toys and TW has been my one stop shop for all of our projects whether it’s for repairs or upgrades. Thanks as always to the guys at TW for all your help with our fleet of toys!
When I purchased my 2017 124 Fiat Spider, I could not find any Garage that had experience with Fiat Automobiles. Then I found Throttle Works (TW), here in Garden City Idaho... TW has now worked on my Fiat for almost 2 Years. I asked for Performance enhancements be done to my Fiat. TW upgraded my Turbo, Plugs, Coils, added cold air intake, paint work and Breaks... I now have over 115+ Horse Power added to the original engine performance. TW also added Front and Rear Turning Struts. I enjoy driving my Fiat knowing TW has done a complete maintenance and has my car running perfectly. Due to their Automotive Knowledge and very Friendly service, I would recommend TW for any automobile performance upgrades or car maintenance. TW can perform full restoration to a simple Tire rotation... Throttle Works is a One-Stop Automotive Garage...
Technically competent, honest, and reasonable. My go to for performance auto work.
I highly recommend the crew at Throttle Works. I have been working with them for several years now. I have used them for everything from an LS swap in my C10 to race prep on my Subaru and lots of stuff in between.
Excellent diagnostic and tuning services. These guys are a premier tuner in the area. Highly recommend them!
Highly recommended! The Throttle Works crew is knowledgeable, honest, and will go out of their way to help. You can tell they love what they do. Its not just a job to them, it almost seems like its their hobby as well. They recently helped me fix an issue I was having with a supercharger install that another shop performed. They quickly identified the issue, and had me back on the road in no time. They even went above and beyond to help me ship another car from Mississippi all the way up to Boise. If you want to know what great work and unmatched customer service look like, you need to go to Throttle Works. I will be using them for all my automotive needs going forward.
They quoted me 1200 for spring install what arip off. When I asked how many hrs it would have taken I was quoted 12 and the person on the phone seemed confused. Called more reputable shops and avarge time for install is 6hrs. Would not recommend these people.
Started coming here a couple years ago as they were the only shop in the valley willing to work on a modified Fiat. Now they take care of all our modified cars and even took on a ground-up complete racecar build for me. The guys are awesome, straightforward, fun to be around and importantly since Im a girl and all, they dont treat me any different from any other client. Having crashed a car with a custom half cage they built, I can also vouch for the quality of their builds. Whether its vintage or modern, basic maintenance or major modifications, super common car or something very unusual, they can handle it. Quality, detail, craftsmanship, all that good stuff.
Rory has put together a cutting edge team. They took my dreams for my car and made it reality. Communication was top notch as well taking great care of my car during the course of work. If your thinking of pushing your car to the limits you would be wasting your money going anywhere else. Looking forward to the next phase on mine. A special thanks to Rory, Mike, Dillon & Erik. You guys are the best
I work with Throttle Works everyday and trust them with all our cars from rare muscle cars to some of the rarest euro cars, classic and modern. They are professional, detail oriented, and some of the best people we have worked with. If you are looking for the best mechanics in the treasure valley area Throttle Works are your guys!
Mike, Rory and Dave have been awesome resources for all of my vehicles. Their custom work is second to none, a real talented group of fabricators over there- very impressed!I highly recommend Throttleworks for not only custom work, but for pretty much anything from general maintenance to troubleshooting. Thanks fellas.
Took my turbocharged 5.3 Malibu to another shop that couldnt figure out how to tune it. Throttle Works and Rory built up a consistent, reliable, and safe tune utilizing their in house dyno. They were able to custom tune large aftermarket fuel injectors without any injector data from the manufacturer, no easy feat. I absolutely recommend this shop.
I love this company!!! Did an exhaust on my 2011 Cadillac CTS coupe and amazing! Im in love!! The owner Rory answered all my questions and anytime I wanted to look at it while they where working on it they allowed and answered every question I had!! Amazing would recommend to anyone who needs car work done! I cant say enough positives about this company!!!
Great shop. I only take my car to TW for service. They are knowledgeable, honest and fair. Mike and Rory, who run the shop, are great guys and Im happy to give them my business.
Throttle Works did a fantastic job on my car, very impressed by their knowledge and attention to detail. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing work done on their high performance or specialty vehicle!!!
Best service in Boise. Ability to fix every issue Ive had and keep me and my car running at top notch performance. Customer service is Excellent.
I first started looking into throttle works when I decided I wanted to start doing track days. I ordered all the parts I wanted (they charge I think 20$ extra an hour if you bring you own parts) and on super late notice asked if i could bring my car to them. I was initially impressed because when I mentioned I was going to do a track day that they will do whatever possible to get you there. When they where installing the parts I also had them adjust suspension, new alignment, change tires, new brake fluid etc. I expected them to ask me questions like what kind of alignment I wanted and what kind of height and stiffness when I got there. When I dropped it off they didnt ask any questions they looked busy and I just gave them my keys. I picked it up a few hours before I was supposed to leave for the track day. We hadnt had any communication and I assumed based off a phone call that this would remain a street/canyon car as the nearest track is 5 hours away. When I picked up the car it had an excessive amount of camber in the front. Unfortunately at the last minute my track day plans fell apart. Probably 3-4 weeks pass and I contacted them to schedule another visit. When i was talking on the phone with Rory it seemed like he wanted to fix the alignment issue and I was going to pay to have them fix the throw out bearing and the AC compressor. I wanted them to just get rid of all the noises coming from the engine bay. On the phone they recommended that I leave the ac compressor and fix the throw out and the oil leak and an o2 sensor that went out. I picked it up and the next day and when I started the car, it made all the same noises as it had when I dropped it off. It also had a minor scratch. Needless to say I was upset. I sent multiple videos of the sound and pictures of the scratch to Rory. It took quite a bit of trying to get a reply from him but I was eventually able to schedule another appointment. I planned on the only other thing I would have them do besides fix what they broke is headers. When I arrive, there was immediate confusion due to the headers install. They had only planned on fixing the paint and the throwout so I had to show Rory the texts we exchanged to show I had mentioned the headers and the AC compressor. During this time he got accusatory and rude. I texted in advanced to make sure my car was finished and I could come to pick up my car. When I arrived, nobody was around and I had been waiting for nearly 45 min. I tried talking to a shop that shared the property to see if they had any contact info for anyone else. When they got back and I had explained that I had been waiting Rory simply said that I shouldnt have come at lunch. When I got inside they printed off my receipt and I was shocked that they had charged me $790 on the headers install that they quoted me 400$. We then went outside to look at the car and once outside Rory claimed that the car had never had a scratch on it. Luckily I had clear pictures showing the scratch and when I dropped it off they wrote down where it was so they had record. I was able to show him their own records of the scratch as well as texts and the pictures I had sent them. Once we had made it back inside, things started to get heated. After awhile I had to ask if he was going to do anything for me, he wouldnt answer and instead asked what I wanted him to do. I told him I would be fine if he would honor the original quote and he agreed. On my way out he said please dont come back. This was the best advice Rory has given me. Upon further investigation they had gone more than $200 over quote on the original appointment and charged me for the alignment correction. Not to mention that this was just a helluva way to treat a customer that spent $3,200, much of that amount due to mistakes they made.***Update***Within a couple of days my engine light turned back on and the throw out started making noise again. I am astounded about they’re complete and total mechanical incompetence!!!
Rory and crew did a great job getting my older V8 running the way that it should. Car is now a pleasure to drive.
Well I guess u have to post that to stay in biz but not true. Guess $12k isnt enough to at least get treated nice. Rude is an understatement but Cest la vie right. Good luck staying in biz treating people the way u do 😬
Awesome all around shop from performance parts and modifications to your simple oil change and service. Rory and his guys are the best in the valley.
Was recommended over here a few months ago to get my coilovers adjusted and have a new O2 sensor installed due to a CEL. The coilovers were adjusted without issue and the O2 sensor was fixed without a problem.
Still having work done on my truck, but so far great service and communication
If you don’t have a Porsche or Ferrari you will not be treated with respect. Not an LS expert as they claim. Sent in for a custom engine however all I got was 7 month wait, literally twice the bill, and does not run or shift well. They take zero responsibility for anything, will loose parts, and don’t even know what coolant must be run in a Chevy engine. Rory’s goons will cuss you out if you challenge the bill or what was done.
Trustworthy. Reliable. Easy to work with. Thank you!
Good mechanic, but refused to fix parts they broke inside my car, tune was poor got a better tune from a friend of a friend
Great customer service and well versed in all makes and models.
These guys know their stuff when it comes to performance and diag.
Charged me $300 and didnt fix what I took it there for.
Did some exhaust work.
Worst shop i have ever took my car too.
