I don’t know if it’s just me as an older guy for I’m in my 60’s but the staff seems very inattentive and rude. Always looking down and they’re not welcoming or friendly.
Very good selection of lids, and customer service was excellent I showed him military Id and he setup an acct for me on the spot which gave me 20% of my purchase.
Great hats store. Got my very first hat. Sales person Leo help match my sneaker. Need help finding a hat to match anything stop by Lids.
The manager Leo should not be running the store very rude and doesn’t care for the people
Friendly and helpful staff. Cool spot!
This is an official complaint directed at Lids located in Roosevelt Field Mall, Garden City NY. More specifically this complaint is directed at the store manager, Leo.My family suffered a sudden death of our 24 year old family member. Being that we are all die hard New York Yankees fans we wanted to commemorate my young cousins life buy purchasing 33 Yankees hats and having his initials stitched on the side of the hat. Before showing up at the store I called and spoke to the assistant manager, John. I explained the situation to John and he was very understanding over the phone and explained to me the sale that was going on in the store, he also added if we had a Lids card we would receive an additional discount, he concluded by telling me the store manager may even be able to throw in a couple hats for free. I was very satisfied with Johns response to our situation.Upon arriving at the store, I was immediately met with inconsideration and outright disrespect from the manager Leo. I explained to Leo the situation and the conversation I had with John over the phone. Instead of using empathy, Leo decided to be crass and tell us there are no such discounts and he could do nothing to help us. I asked him about the discounts John mentioned to me on the phone and Leo proceeded to laugh in my face, telling me there is no such thing.I can understand if John misspoke and there was truly no discount that could be offered, but to laugh in my face and take an argumentative attitude toward me and my family in a time of deep pain is uncalled for.We immediately walked out of the store and used Hat Club, Champs, Dicks Sporting Goods and Stitch-It to complete our order that totaled over $1000. The associate who helped us at hat club was not able to give us any discount either but he used empathy and understanding to explain the corporate policy, which we understood. Leo on the other hand, never once said “sorry for your loss” or tried to console us in any way.My family and I will never step foot in another Lids for the rest of my life. This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had, and I hope these words make it up the ladder and the appropriate discipline is given to Leo. At the very least explain to the guy what empathy is, because he cleared had no clue.
The sales rep that helped us was awesome and very knowledgeable. My partner got two custom named tagged caps which were done very professionally right there in store in a little less than an hour 😊 which was dope because it gave us time to walk around still. Would highly recommend their services for ball caps and customer service👍✌
If you are looking for customer service, go somewhere else. Anywhere else. Hat Club, Champs, Dick’s, truly anywhere—just not this Lids, because the manager Leo does not know customer service. Here’s the TL;DR: the manager, Leo, in the store was astonishingly rude and dismissive when my boyfriend asked about a discount he had been told about on the phone with a nice assistant manager, John. The whole reason he had called inquiring about a discount was that there had just been a tragedy in the family and the family was looking to buy hats and stitch initials into the hats in remembrance. Here’s what happened: My boyfriend and his family just experienced a devastating and sudden loss of a family member. They were looking to purchase a large number of hats and get initials stitched on the hats in honor of the young loved one they lost. My boyfriend called ahead and the person he spoke to on the phone was helpful, suggesting ways that they could maybe get a discount, even saying that if the manager was in at the time they came to the store, maybe he could throw in one or two free hats. Obviously they weren’t going to be given thirty free hats—that’s not what my boyfriend was asking for. He just wanted to see if there were any options given the sheer number of hats that were to be purchased and the tragic circumstances. Just looking for a practical discount for the bulk purchase and, you know, some compassion. So we headed to the store, a group of eleven of us, expecting to purchase more than thirty hats from a business with some integrity. Needless to say, we left empty-handed and Lids lost literally more than $900 of business. My boyfriend relayed the conversation he had had with John the assistant manager on the phone and explained the circumstances to Leo the manager. Leo laughed. He LAUGHED. The funeral was yesterday, and this man just laughed. He shook his head and scoffed and said, “He [the assistant manager] didn’t say that.” So my boyfriend asked about other options and the manager gave none. And my boyfriend reiterated the fact that he had spoken to someone on the phone, and again this unhelpful and unfriendly manager Leo shook his head and dismissed him: “He did not say that.”We purchased zero hats from Lids. Instead we went to Hat Club, and received above-and-beyond customer service and empathy. And we went to a kiosk for the stitching. The most unbelievable part of this story is how EASY it would have been for this manager to throw in a free hat or give a little discount. Just something to say, “We appreciate that you chose us for this meaningful purchase and we’d be happy to do what we can to make your experience shopping with us just a little better.” Just a business doing good for the customers it’s there to serve. How much would the business lose throwing in a free hat? Maybe thirty dollars? But can you imagine how much they’d be able to make off an order of more than 30 hats to be stitched there in store? But instead the manager chose to laugh in the face of a group of people grieving. Hope that thirty dollars was worth the lost business. It’s a big family, and none of us will be shopping at Lids ever again.
Went in to get a matching hat for my shoes and the sales associate James help me pick a matching hat which just so happened to be my favorite hockey, the Mighty Ducks. I loved those movies as a kid. He saved me a couple bucks by getting a lids card and I ended up getting my hat embroidered with conway 96 on it. This guy knew his movie references and made my day. Awesome job dude.
Lovely place for hats
Not that many optionsEmployees were completely uselessEmployees didn’t bother asking for help and just stared at me for 10 minutes straight smh
Great customer service, clean store alot of selections. Customize my own hats with ease.
The employees in this store make it impossible to shop there. They flat out REFUSED to sell me a lids membership by itself. They told me I had to purchase additional items, that I couldnt just buy a lids membership. So I looked around and there wasnt anything I wanted.I called lids customer service and they informed me that the employees were lying but offered no additional information on why their employees would refuse a customer service. They need to restaff, or I will never shop there, or any lids ever again.
There is a guy with a beard who works here who will tell you the mets and the islanders suck, forgetting hes working on long island, and then tell you his life story before asking you extremely personal questions. Actually i think i should have called the police. I recommend you to stay away
The hv every hat they engrave names into your now anything you want really. For a great price the guy who helped me was super helpful
Associates do not know how to correctly refund a customer. If the deal was buy one get one half off and I purchased two hats one $24.99 and the other for $22.00 which came out to $11.00. Why is it that for the $24.99 hat I am receiving a lower amount of money back if thats the price I paid. Why is $10 being taken away from a customer? Not my problem that they cannot handle math correctly. Terrible customer service from this store do not recommend! They wont handle returns correctly and wont give you the correct money back. The customer should not be penalized for returning a hat that they paid for.
Nice selection, they need more sizes in all selections.
Yea, Its just a hat store but if you want professional, courtious, customer service at its best get your regular and custom made stuff at this place. had a hat custom made there and it didnt come out right. Daryl, the store manager was more than willing to re-do it for me with no problem. the staff is friendly and helpful. A perfect example of how customer service should be.
Someone used a fraudulent card and emptied my debit account. Leo says it happens all the time and he had no interest in helping me get information about the purchase made 2 days previously. I live 600 miles away, so I obviously wasn’t the one in his store.
Clean store with helpful staff.
From now on sticking to online ordering when it comes to hats. Outrageous prices and little to no help as I was shopping.
Many hats and capsPeople are kind too.
