Rented from them a couple times. It is about 10 minutes from White Rock Lake. And that is driving slow with 3 kayaks on top. Location not the best, but the price was good. The guy that helped me was very nice and showed me how to tie up the kayaks correctly so I would not lose them on my way back. I will return again to rent from them if I plan on putting in at White Rock Lake.

Went to the class taught on Lake lavon and had a great time. The times offered were not the best but it was a good deal so I made it work. The location was kind of out there but it was well worth the drive, very pretty for dfw. Went by there store and will be purchasing there due to the selection and expertise of the staff. Think this might be the only real kayak shop in this area.

Horrible. First of all, they will tell you that its near the lake if you call in. a 15 minute drive w/ no traffic isnt nearby. Its actually closer to a 30 minute drive if you want to go the boat launch. The equipment is REALLY old and the kayaks/canoes are on the ground and take a beating in the Texas heat. When we went to return our lemon of a canoe at 2 PM, the one employee was out to lunch according to a note by the door...so we got to wait another 15 minutes for him to return. Did I mention that they close at 4:30 (dont plan on staying out past 3:45 and hustling back to beat the clock). Did I also mention that they arent open on Sundays? Great business to be in when you dont want to work weekends. Also, you might want to bring a gun when you go to this part of town. SHADY doesnt begin to explain this area. Also, make sure you know where the boat launch is. They do looked at me like I had 5 eyes when I asked for a map; and then gave me HORRIBLE directions in chicken scratch on a piece of paper.I called the owner and quickly realized where the attitude of this shop came from. He said it was too bad that I didnt get anything out of this rental. Dont rent from this place for any reason

Purchased a group-on voucher for Sunday kayak tour for 2. Made a phone reservation for 4/28. I was told on the telephone to meet at Ticky Creek Park on Lake Lavon at 8:45 -- the same location listed on their web site.Drove an hour from Dallas, arrived at Ticky Creek Park at 8:40. No kayaks, no High Trails Kayak company. Called the provided number and left a voice mail. We waited 20 minutes and then turned around and drove another hour back to Dallas. This is my first time being stood up for an excursion. I was very unhappy and disappointed to spend 2 hours in the car and no time actually in a kayak.FOLLOW-UP:I did receive a call and email from High Trails this morning apologizing for the oversight. Apparently, they cancelled the class and thought they had notified everyone. They offered to schedule an additional kayak tour at no cost. I had already requested and received a refund from Groupon and, frankly, am not interested in another 2-hour drive.
