My wife and I had one of the best shopping experiences at West End Hardware as we were going through the process of selecting a new Leaf Blower. Terry and the rest of the team from West End Hardware took great care of us during our selection of an Echo PB-770T. We pleasantly surprised that West End Hardwares equipment sales process including complimentary assembly, fueling and training of how to use new equipment. That type of attention to customer service far exceeds what the big-box stores offer. When we got home, all we had to do was crank up our new blower to take care of putting the finishing touches on our yard.

Exceptional customer service. After searching for weeks for a zero turn, we ended up at Westend Hardware where the selection was way more than any we had seen due to Covid. Darrell was very courteous and detailed when discussing the mowers. We did have a small issue with a belt but took it back the next business morning and was in and out with a perfect mower in under 30 minutes. The mower we purchased was barely over the price on the manufacturers site from what I was able to find. If you find they are a little pricier on items that you can get from big box stores, its because they dont have multiple stores and this is their livelihood. Due to my family having a small business, we like to support small and family owned businesses! I would definetly recommend stopping by if youre in the neighborhood. Thanks Darrell for such great care! Also the hubs is gonna be mad cause I cut the grass when I got home lol.

Last time drove quite a bit to get a part which they had in stock. went again today and a simple air filter they did not have. had to order at Amazon. best you call and ask before spending gas to visit the store and be told they are out of stock. otherwise they seem very knowledgeable and helpful jn trying to attend to customers need. recommended

Always kind helpful while providing great customer service. Ill stop by later today to drop off something to be serviced. Once i had a problem with something I serviced but guess what when i looked into it i realized that it wasnt the service it was a problem with what i serviced so guess what i know they are so good i threw what i serviced out and started over with knew item and had it serviced the next year about 6 months later and perfection as usual. So yes i trust still 100% this hardware store for what i need. I remember also once just going by to pick up a random item that they were out of and guess what they appologized and told me exactly what else to substitute and where to seek the same item elsewhere. This is the most kind unselfish customer service oriented hardware i know. I havent been by since summer but i hope to see the old dog still greeting me as i come into the store.

Ive waited 6 years to leave a honest feedback/review on West End. I have gotten a couple of ztr mowers and a saw and a couple more things from them and wanted to share my experience about them. Whenever you walk into the door you have friendly staff ask if you needed any help. Of course yes you have to wait a bit if they are 10 people in line waiting in the dead center of summer time but they will eventually get to you if you have patience. Daryl and his staff have been nothing but helpful in any and every way I needed. Its a older hardware store and they have 99% of anything that you needing unlike the big box stores. Yes some stuff is high prices by they have to make some money at there job just like we all do. Now its understandable that they get behind on fixing mower and small engine because well... Find another shop that has no wait line and gets you fixed in a few minutes. As far as I go I havent had to use their repair service yet but my buddies have said nothing but great things about West End. They are a little bit of a drive from me but I think with all the knowledge and the people there Ill keep going there for years to come. I recently visited West End Hardware during their Spring Fling. I showed up at the last minute before closing to look at some mowers. Darrel Krentz (owner) was so helpful. He showed me several selections and helped me to pick out the best option for my needs, his team serviced the mower before I left with it. I also bought a weed eater from them and they also serviced it as well. They made sure that I understood how everything worked on both items. In my rush to get the items I purchased and to get out of their way so they could close, I inadvertently left the keys to my mower on the counter. I called them as soon as I realized it and they mailed them and the manual to me priority mail the next day. Thank you Darrel and team for all your great work.

Olde fashion hardware store with a strong power equipment focus. They sell Stihl, Echo, and eXmark lawn mowers. Exmark is the #1 selling brand of lawnmower for commercial users in America.

Friendly, kind, knowledgeable staff. Expected to leave my weed trimmer for repair but walked out the door with it running. Very appreciative of their expertise and taking time to share helpful information with me. Will definitely return for any future needs.

I went to this hardware store for 2-cycle engine oil and was kinda confused, at the counter you probably got every brand of 2-cycle engine oil you can find. Great brands and also has a repair shop within the store, its a two week wait on all lawnmower repairs though.good luck with that

Great place! An good old fashioned place that is filled with all kinds of interesting things. The only place locally where you can purchase an old school red rubber four inch sink plunger. The new style plunger doesnt do what I need it to do. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. There is a little dog that lives in the store named Mabel. She is a nice dog,and I encourage folks to go and see her and bring her a dog biscuit. Everyone should visit World Famous West End Hardware.

Hole in the wall but it seems to have everything. Staff know where everything is and the customer service dog is charming. Not the best lite or the cleanest but the very definition of a mom and pop hardware store.

Been coming here for years getting parts. Never had any work done. So decided to try them out. 3 weeks later and $40 I get my saw. Still not fixed. First guy told me carb would be $69 and it didnt run. And that it wasnt worth fixing. Which was a lie because I took it there running. So I picked up my saw today. Next guy said carb could not be found and wasnt available. I came straight home and ordered the exact carburetor for $30. Will they work on my items again? No! But Im not mad and will still buy my parts there.

The new owner (Darrel) took over about a year ago and has made this a fantastic place in every regard. Although the place is still the small-town hardware store you remember, it is now loaded to the gills with everything you need -- including products youd never find in a big box store -- at reasonable prices and with advice you can trust.Need a small engine repaired or a mower blade sharpened? These guys will do it fast -- with a smile on their face... and theyll stand behind their work in a way that is refreshingly honest. Darrel comes out of the race car business, so you know that HE KNOWS what hes talking about.Even if you have to pass 3 big chain stores to get here, it will be worth the drive. Stop in and see what I mean.

Im guessing that they just lost their warranty contract with Husqvarna. Ive been trying to have my mower repaired going on three weeks now. We were told that the guy was sick (two weeks ago), then told several other times since then that they were on the way to pick up our mower. Its still in our shed messed up. The lady that we spoke to on the phone said she canceled the work order with them (West End Hardware) and contacted someone else. I wanted to give yall a good review, but I just cant because Im honest! I had so much patience with yall and was given the run around for way too long...sorry!

The absolute worst customer service experience ever. Mouthy young mechanic who does not understand customer service and from his attitude and style, probably costs this business more than the trouble to keep him around.

Yankee owner with Yankee attitude. Re: Owner replied with completely false implications referring to my former period of employment there during which time there were never any employee misconduct write ups or verbal warnings. I quit on the spot when owners wife asserted that I was being insubordinate by raising my voice in repeating an answer to a question she asked as I assumed she couldnt hear the previous reply. I expect she lied to her husband about what happened. As I said .... Yankee attitude. Surely owners false implications are defamation since there is no proof of any issues they raise in their reply given that time records prove their claim untrue, there are no customers who complained and there were no disiplinary actions during the 8 months or so that I worked there. Im easy to find on Facebook if anyone has any questions for me and please note that I continue employment with the job Ive had for years before working part time at west end hardware. These owners do not live in Gastonia or Gaston county and are not active in the local community. They are Yankee transplants with Yankee attitudes which surely includes lying about my employment time there in this public forum

Employee was rude to me on the phone and tried to give me the brush off when I called to ask why my mower was not delivered as promised. Owner refused to talk to me. Dont do that. The last thing I want is to be dismissed, ignored and given the brush off. Darrell should have taken the time to at least talk to me. I went there myself to pick the mower up. The young tattooed employee they have is a jerk, and has no idea of how to talk to a dissatisfied customer, only how to be confrontational and arrogant. I wanted to write a positive review, but when the business owner does not have 5 minutes to apologize for breaking a promise, and allows his employees to be hostile and abrasive to customers, you lose my vote.
