Wine tasting was terrible. They poured white and red in the same plastic cup and didn’t rinse out in between. Glasses would be nice. Ate dinner at the restaurant which was very understaffed which is fine in these post COVID times- however the food was incredibly bland and not worth the prices. They did provide a nice dessert as we were celebrating a special occasion, which was very appreciated.

Went there for my sister in laws wedding. What a beautiful place! Lake air is so refreshing! We stayed the night. Room was amazing! They even offered a complimentary beer flight and 10% off growler. I couldnt squeeze in the flight, but got a growler of their IPA. Delicious! Saving that for a Bills game!

Not impressed. I had high expectations for this winery. We got there when they opened at 10 am to start to day off on our wine trail. And our experience was poor. The facility is breath taking, dont get me wrong, but thats the only positive thing I could say about it.We were greeted by am eye rolling, brash server. We were the only ones in the facility at the time and she didnt explain a thing. Just slapped the paper and pen down and said pick 5. Okay cool. You not going be at least helpful? Solid work. I honestly have had better experience with going to a wine tasting in a mall. Wines werent my cup of tea either but that happens. I just could not with the way the do their wine tastings.

We came to here for a wine tasting, not to stay in the hotel. The wine steward was knowledgeable and he was very personable. There were no seats at the wine bar to sit and relax. One could only stand. The tasting was in the gift shop. We were expecting a much different experience. This was our least favorite of all the wineries. Decent wines. Will not be back and will not recommend to others.

We stayed in tower suite. Flys and gnats in room. Wine tasting was stand at counter as the pour a sip into a plastic cup. Staff at tavern seemed disgruntled, told us lies to our face. Cobwebs in rafters. No bell service had to carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs. The fancy building wasted by poor staff. Clearly some poison personalities demoralizing folk.

Wine tasting happens in the same room of the gift shop. There’s a separate area (a table) for reserved group and by mistake we went to that (table was crowded so couldn’t see the reserved sign). The staff was not welcoming at all and told us it’s for reserved groups in a rude way.The staff at our tasting were nice but not that welcoming as I’ve seen in other wineries in the finger lakes area. Also tasting was in the same plastic cup! Which was strange. Tried the ciders and they were really good! They had a pretty good sweet dessert wine too.Outdoor space was really nice with a huge lawn area.

A group of 6 of us went for a tasting. We called to make a reservation and we were told they didnt take reservations for groups less than 7 people. When we got there, the workers rudely told us we should have made a reservation, as they were currently too busy for a group of our size. We waited for the tasting, and a few members went to the bathroom, during which the rest of the group was seated for the tasting. They told the group they would not wait the 2 minutes for the girls in the bathroom and that theyd have to go to the end of the line. Also, the person cleaning the bathroom was extremely rude and rolled her eyes at us when we got in line at the bathroom. Overall, every single encounter with a worker was extremely negative. If they had professionally told us they were too busy to seat us, I wouldnt be upset, but they treated a group of sober, 25 year old women like children and a burden. Dont waste your time, there are tons of better wineries in the area.

Great one year, failure another. I used to love this place, the service and wine, but it has gone down in quality. The people who work here are not as nice or cheerful, they close the tastings 1.5 hours early and try to rush you out the door even if you come earlier. The wines have gone down in quality, and the prices have gone up. They blamed it on covid but somehow all the other vineyards in the area didn’t go up in price. They also don’t tell you the prices till you pay at check out. I had two bottles of petite Verdot, one from when I went last year and one from this year. This years sucks. Definitely a winery to now avoid.

The food at Stonecutters was delicious but pricey which we expected. Service was bad… servers need training!! Waited 10 minutes for water and another 5 for our wine. The reason for the 2 stars is this: they charge close to double for a bottle of wine on the patio then they do at the wine store. DOUBLE? We expected to pay more but not double. I went to ask why and no answer. Go, do a tasting, buy a bottle in the shop, go sit by the lake and enjoy.

We came for the wine tasting. I have been touring wineries all over the world and I have never had an experience that bad. The wine steward shoved 2 plastic cups in front of us without any kind of introduction- I literally have no idea what kind of grape went into the wines we were drinking as they had funky names like Neptun and such. There was no water offered to cleanse the palate between the pours and the same dirty plastic up was used for everything. And the wine steward mostly had her back to us as she was busy discussing her weekend plans with her colleague all the time we were tasting. She occasionally would glance in our direction to see if we were done and pour the next one without a word in the same cup. White, red, whatever. Same one cup for all.Seneca lake has many lovely wineries with the professional and courteous staff and great wines. Go there and skip this one. Seriously, this was a just horrible experience.

Underwhelming. Came for a wine tasting, which was held in a weird little gift shop and was served out of plastic glasses. Wine was good, as were the cheeses (did the wine and cheese flight). Then purchased a bottle of red and a block of cheese and went outside to finish - the woman who opened the bottle for us broke the cork and had to get us a new bottle, we only had plastic cups to drink out of, we had to go to the restaurant to ask for a knife and plate for the cheese, the door to get to the patio was blocked by a table... honestly just a weird experience. The wine was good, and the location is beautiful, but I dont get the hype.

Stayed in the castle, where tiny window air conditioners couldnt keep up with summer heat (and staff ignored request for a fan.) Belhurst Castle has beautiful views of Seneca lake, with both indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated indoors at Edgars, one of two places to eat at the Castle... that I know of.The food was fantastic! I had the Delmonico steak, and my wife had the prime rib. The Delmonico was absolutely wonderful, but my wife said the prime rib was good, but nothing too special. My son had been there before and tasted several of the entrees and said they were all excellent! The architecture was very warm, with several stone fireplaces and wonderful decor. The whole effect was entrancing with an elegant vibe. The prices were very high, however. You are certainly paying for this experience. I would absolutely recommend trying this place at least once. After that, you can make up your own mind regarding its value!

Was there for a wedding & was very disappointed in the food. The fish that was served was haddock with a crab cake on top over a bed of rice. The haddock was so dry that I picked it up and it didn’t have any give. Not flakey or any moisture. The crab cake was too fishy in my opinion and the veggies were drenched in pepper. It’s insulting that a venue that has such high reviews and word of mouth would serve extremely overcooked fish and charge the bride over $40 a plate.

Had high expectations and thought we were in good hands after successful work events coordinated at this venue. Everything was wonderful up until the day of…and even then the only person at the end of the night we were still happy with was large events planner Carmen. Air conditioning was non functional in the bridal suite (Tower Suite). night before and morning of. Lodging manager jerked us around a bit, moved us in and out because he couldn’t guarantee repair and still wanted to book it out for that night after I refused to stay with no AC on my wedding night. In the end it was fixed by our wedding night and we stayed. Manager gave a substantial discount for the 2 nights which was fair. No communication with the small events coordinator….event booked for Edgars Lounge AND another wedding 30 min after our end time. Per our contract we had reserved the lounge for 2 hours for the groomsmen to get ready/photos/and hangout. That did not happen. Also per our contract weddings must be 2 hours apart to ensure proper cocktail hours and photo opportunities. Since there was not a 2 hour gap after our wedding we were pushed off the back lawn for our photos AND had to turn off our cocktail hour music. There needed to be communication with us that they double booked. Feel like with the l pandemic craziness it is pure chaos with the planners and no one is clear on plans. No wedding is without hitches but this was too much for comfort with the budget item that costs the most! Mainly picked the Belhurst for value (no event fee) and support of Carmen. Honestly looking back would have rather a different venue…even with a fee. Carmen was still great for the planning and execution of design; given the circumstances. Feel like a lot of the issue was the other Belhurst staff

I was there this passed Sunday with son and his girlfriend and a friend. We were seated in the observatory, no other tables which was fine but felt like we were punished for something....food this time (been there 4 other times) was ok. My prime rib was far from fair. It was cold and not done to my liking and was as bland as dry toast. No au jus, when I asked for it the server thought I was finished and wanted a box. When I said I was still waiting for au jus she blamed the cook had taken a break and forgot. The appetizer looked like it was half eaten. We ordered calamari and there were maybe 5 rings and 2 tiny calamaris. My friend ordered the duck which half of that was wasted fat.. Anyway, not sure if I will be back when I come in October. Then the tasting room bartender brought us sheets to mark our wine choices from: she then poured the wine into hard plastic cups. Immensely dissatisfied! I have stayed in a lot of places through the eastern coast. I thought I would try a place close to where I grew up. The Belhurst Castle was always described is this awesome place. I have also ate at many different places on the east coast. I ate dinner last night at Edgars. The server Lexi was amazing, I loved her. Some of the food was good but very disappointing filet mignon. I have ate filet mignon at many different restaurants and this by far had to be one of the worst ones I have ate. The first one that came out wasnt even near rare. The second one came out was a lot closer but no flavor and not what I expected at all. I went to go into the pub style restaurant tonight and there was a wait which is understandable but I did decide to leave to go somewhere else. Before I left though I thought I might stop into the gift shop to get something for some of my family. There is a sign that says wait for a wine hostess. I waited because it said to. I must have had 2 workers I made eye contact with. One was checking customers out with their purchases maybe less than 10 feet away. I have had customer service jobs, it would take 2 seconds to acknowledge me and ask me kindly to wait a minute. No one said a word to me. Really maybe half the staff Ive came in contact with should be in the service business and the other should probably look for different jobs. The room is okay but by far have had way better rooms staying places. The bed is a rock. This trip was such a disappointment. I would not recommend anyone to go here for really anything due to the customer service. Unfortunately this stay would have been way better if the staff had some better training in customer service. There was three people here that had great attitudes; the waitress Lexi, the gentleman that did my reservation for the restaurant, and the gentleman that restocked my coffee at the White Springs Manor. That was about the only positive on the trip were that I came in contact with 3 people that actually wanted to be nice and friendly. They also must value their jobs which is a must in customer service. Hopefully this establishment can maybe get their staff on the same page and make this place an amazing place again.

Only came to the table three times: once to take our order, once to drop off drinks and once to drop off the bill. Each time was brief and gave us no additional information; we had to ask her what the soup of the day was and if there were any entree specials. That said, there were two other servers in our sections who were extremely sweet and attentive, so maybe just bad luck on our end. The dripping was constant and so loud we couldn’t sleep at all even with the fan/heat running on high. We called the front desk; and were told the only solution was to “put some towels down”. There were no other rooms available, and we had to leave in the middle of the night due to the dripping water - as they refused to check the room above us to see where the water was coming from. We were told by the manager, Scott, that we would only be credited one night’s stay due to the water issue - and they refused to pay for the hotel that we had to go to at 3am, because it was “our choice” to leave. The front desk manager, Scott, was rude and disrespectful, obviously not caring that they put guests out on the street at 3am due to a mechanical issue with their hotel. Judging by the stains and water marks on the ceiling it clearly wasn’t the first time they had water leaks. We cut our stay at the Belhurst short because of the way we were treated, and stayed at the Ramada down the street for 1/4 of the price - where we received exceptional service. The Belhurst is marketed as a “luxury” hotel, but in reality it is dated, run down, and overpriced, with awful service.

All in all it was a nice getaway. We had dinner in the castle, it was very good the calamari was fantastic. Spent the night in a hot tub suite. Old school classic feel. Metal keys, not modern but not not trying to be. A couple small investments would go a long way. TV way to small, maybe 24 inches. No usb ports on lamps for charging next to bed. Fireplace puts out alot of heat had to open window (in february) to balance room temperature, would be unusable in summer months in my opinion. Being able to charge items to room in gift shop would have also been helpful. Staff was friendly in all areas and beautiful views of the lake. We did not utilize the spa.

Belhurst was the first stop in my winery day and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to sit down for a tasting without reservations (believe they don’t take any). We were seated right away and was able to have wine in our hands in a matter of minutes. The tasting guide wasn’t too helpful and pretty much rushed through the tasting. The wines were good but definitely wish I had more time to grab a bottle and sip outside because the scenery of this place is so quaint and beautiful. I honestly would have preferred to buy a bottle and do my own thing rather than participating in the tasting. It was a nice tasting but I appreciated the aesthetics of this winery more than the tasting.

Lets talk about what it takes to have a REAL manager run a restaurant. My mother and I showed up at 9:30pm (they close at 10) after a hot air balloon ran long. We were hungry, everything in the area pretty much closes up at 9pm, and we really didnt want to be THOSE people that get to a place as the restaurant is closing, but man oh man were we hungry! We asked the lady at the please wait for your host stand if we made it and she said sorry the kitchen closes at 9:30. We were instantly bummed, but TOTALLY understandable. We were asking if anywhere in the area was open when the manager Brandon came over and said no problem, took us to a table and helped us right away. Literally within 10 minutes had our order down and was pleasant as a peach. I could honestly care less what the food tastes like. I am so pleasantly surprised to encounter such an AWESOME person, when he could have easily turned a blind eye to us and we would have never known the difference. What an awesome man, will be back as customers just for the kind, above and beyond treatment! Thanks again!

We had a lovely stay in the Ice House. It was cute and nicely isolated during covid times. We felt very safe. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful, it would be wonderful to come back in summer and take advantage of the dock.

This review is only for the winery:I enjoyed most of their dry wines, however, their Chardonnay was hands down my favorite. In fact, it may be my favorite NY Chardonnay! I want to give five stars, but unfortunately, I do find their tasting room to be a little cold and gift shop-y... Not nearly as charming as other Finger Lake wineries Ive been to. Although, the view redeems some of that. Seriously, the view is breathtaking and the venue itself is fantastic (I can totally see why they host so many weddings), so I guess I was just a little underwhelmed by the ambiance of the tasting room.

Ugh, such a disappointment. The wine was okay, the raspberry cider is delicious but the staff is far from extraordinary. We called to ask about a reservation, wouldnt answer our questions and specifically told us they had to get off the phone 20 seconds into the phone call. We decided to blow off the phone call and go anyways. We arrive and two ladies were unpacking wines and we asked if we could do a tasting. After the sigh and eye rolling, they called over to another lady and said of course they want a tasting as if we were totally imposing of their current job duties. We sit down on super uncomfortable stools (FYI) and were welcomed with theres four of you doing the tasting right? We said, only 3 since we have a sober driver. Then she returns with an eye roll, toned attitude and slamming bottles down before pouring. She gave us a phrase introduction to each bottle and little to no attention what so ever. She walks over to the group opposite to us and remarkably her voice raises an octive and has a bubbly demeanor with them, then eye rolls back to us. Either way, we werent cheap in any way. We bought 3 bottles of cider and moved on. Unfortunately the review must stick because the four of us didnt feel welcomed or appreciated whatsoever, especially during a pandemic. Super disappointing to be quite frank.

My Husband and I were guests and checked out today we were in room 305 10/22. Our jacuzzi tub not only was broken but had black mold in the on /off button which once pressed in pops out into the tub with all if its pieces( most of the black mold spat out at my Husband and I while in it the one time we tried it and we have video). Not only did we ask several times for assistance with the Jacuzzi we asked for assistance in lighting our pilot light in our fire place and neither issue was addressed. We also did find ourselves dealing with the wafting of Marijuana coming into our room through three air vents in the ceiling at 11 p.m last night due to some smoking weed in their one can only guess hotel bathroom. The staff were great for dining and Jillian at the Tavern is a sweetheart. Not worth how much money we spent considering we were unable to use ANY features listed which were the whole reason we stayed here not only disappointed we feel severely cheated.

We came for happy hour in their tavern. When we walked in and asked directions to the tavern, a worker in the hallway said good luck. We sat outside and the view was stunning (hence the two stars). Our waitress went over the drink specials & let us know we needed to order food (with current Covid guidelines). The three of us each ordered one drink and we ordered calamari. The waitress tried to say that we needed to order more food, but we asked her to check on it & she never brought it up again. Drinks were a great size! Calamari wasnt really recognizable. It was drenched in a mayo cream sauce, cheese, peppers, & olives. It was SO tough and chewy. When our bill came, it was wrong. They overcharged us & we had to have it all redone. There were no apologies from the waitress. She seemed annoyed that we caught the error.

Came here with my husband for our honeymoon. We were originally going to stay at White Springs Manor, but upon check-in asked the front desk if they had any room at Belhurst which they did. We got a room in the Inn, and couldn’t be more pleased. Everything from the cleanliness, to the jacuzzi and fireplace in the room was amazing. The staff at the front desk were great, they greet you each and every time you walk by and made some amazing recommendations on things to do in the area. We also ate at Stonecutters and the food was great. We will most definitely return for another stay!!

An extremely disappointing experience! Looked forward to celebrating a wedding anniversary with my family at this supposedly prestigious establishment only to be told they would not honor a gift card provided by a now belated, dear family friend because there was a change in ownership since it was purchased, despite the fact that they said it would be honored when I called to specifically confirm this ahead of time. Seeing as how the Belhurst name was carried over from the prior owners so that the rich history can be captured as they market and advertise to new clients, it is surprising that management lacks the integrity to honor prior commitments coming from this historical establishment. We would have spent far more than the value of the gift card, and the penny-wise and pound-foolish management decisions reflects very poorly on the ethics and culture of the Castle. The supervising manager showed a complete lack of compassion for the situation and was clearly driven by the dollar bottom line. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a customer service-oriented culture!

Lindsey from start to finish provides a six star experience. After a small mishap in our original room, Lindsey without hesitation or even a request set us up with an upgraded room. Her knowledge of local restaurants lead us to an amazing dinner. LINDSEY!!! Plus this place is beautiful, clean and peaceful. Come stay, it’s well worth it.

We’ve been here a handful of times and continue to come back. We love the outdoor lakeside view and many benches to sit and enjoy it. The tasting room is open late compared to most of the other wineries in the area so that’s fab. Great deal on a wine + cheese flight ($10) with local cheeses. Was super shocked to pay $30 for a 4 pack of hard cider (prices NOT listed openly) but it’s extremely tasty so we will be cherishing it. We’ve never stayed overnight so I cannot speak to that aspect, but it’s a great place to stop while in Geneva.

I am a wedding photographer in upstate New York and have had the pleasure of working with Carmen at Belhurst Castle often and everything is always perfect. All the Belhurst staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I see how they go out of their way to make couples delighted with everything. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they provide first-class service all the way. What is especially impressive is how they take care of all the little things behind the scene too. Not to mention the delicious food choices as always see lots of ‘happy’ plates which isnt always the case at other venues. In other words, everything is amazing and done right from getting ready through the end of the reception. Impressed would be an under-statement. On a personal note to Carmen, thank you for being such a wonderful professional to work with and for making my job so much easier. You are brilliant.

My wife and I chose this hotel to celebrate our anniversary. It had good reviews and it is supposed to be one of the best hotels in the Geneva area. The building itself is very nice and the grounds are very well taken care of. The views of the lake are amazing and we really enjoyed sitting on the benches and taking in the scenery. Having said that, the inside of the hotel and the rooms are very dated. I understand that this is a historic hotel, but this is no excuse to have ceiling stains, toilets with marks, raggy towels, and dirty rugs. Too bad because this hotel has a lot of potential, it just needs more maintenance.
