I usually don’t share my bad experiences-everyone has a bad day from time to time. However, I cannot let this go!!! I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up some medications for a family member- and drop off a prescription to be filled, now the prescription was for “pain meds” - let me preface by saying this family member NEVER gets pain meds- so... I go to drop off to leave the prescription while I shop for this person (older person is severe pain) - it is raining sheets of rain might I add- so I proceed to shop for about 30 minutes.. I check out with the groceries and then get in line to pick up the dropped off prescription along with refills (aspirin and plavix) - when I finally get to the clerk (10 minutes-not bad) she says the pharmacist needs to speak with you regarding the pain meds- I told her no problem- she sends me to consultation window- there I meet this pharmacist (whom clearly thought he was a doctor) - he says ma’am I can’t fill this medication- I said why is that he said “because the patient has never had pain meds and this is too strong” - I ask him but the dr prescribed them- he then handed me the prescription back— I ask him “can I pick up the additional medication?” He said “sure but you will have to wait in line again” so I go back to the line totally ticked off by this time- I get back in line for 30 minutes this time... I finally get to the clerk and give the dob and name for the medications and she said “did you not want to get the pain meds” I told her the pharmacist said he couldn’t fill them and I needed to take somewhere else” she rolled her eyes- took my payment and said “the pharmacist wants to speak with you about a prescription “ I then go BACK to the consultation window and the pharmacist says “well this is just a refill (plavix) I am sure you don’t have any questions “ I said no sir I don’t - by now I am in tears with a family member TRULY in PAIN!!! So I proceed to a LOCAL pharmacy and give them said prescription and BAM it’s filled!!! Now... I chose to change pharmacies for this family member who is on a VERY tight budget every month- the family member says to me “Walmart is cheaper” I said maybe they are and if so I will pay for your meds for one month until I can switch you back... so today I go to pick up the first prescription since the change - it’s Prilosec- and for a 3 month supply at Walmart is $12.00+ and at the local pharmacy it was $9.50 for the SAME 3 month supply... so all along this person had been paying more and getting treated like a number!!! The local pharmacist also is getting all the meds moved to the same refill day for all meds!!! So they don’t have to make multiple times a month to pick up their meds. Thank you sir!!!To THE WALMART PHARMACIST- IF YOU WANT TO BE A DOCTOR GO BACK TO SCHOOL UNTIL THEN FILL THE PRESCRIPTIONS THAT ARE PRESCRIBED!!!Let me be clear ... we had no idea pain meds were so hard to get this day and time!!! This person was hurting and hurting BAD!!! I am sure that people get them that may or may not need them... but that’s not for the pharmacist to decide it’s for the doctor to decide and if there is a prescription and someone has used you for 20+ years- and only your pharmacy FILL IT!!! I was totally crazy by the end of this mess!! I had spent the entire day in the hospital for testing (the family doctor wrote the prescription and had the testing done) trying to get answers to this persons pain and we had none at that time but we did have a prescription to help this person get thru the next few days and you Walmart Pharmacist DENIED that!!!PEOPLE PLEASE BEWARE OF PRICE GOUGING AND PEOPLE THINKING THEY ARE DOCTORS IF YOU HAVE A PRESCRIPTION WRITTEN BY A DOCTOR THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO DENY YOU!!!I am not finished with the local Walmart (Glasgow KY) - this was wrong both moral and legally!!! You will be hearing from me and my family member!!
