I wanted to give a local business a chance rather than going to Home Depot. I wanted to build a bookcase. The guy at Hayward told me this was the wrong place for that kind of lumber. They just have Douglas Fir. And not in sizes suitable for bookcases. He said I would have to look downtown for hardwood.Seems a bit odd for a place with Lumber in their name to only sell one kind of wood?And it turned out that Channel City Hardware a few blocks away in Goleta does indeed sell a variety of lumber suitable for bookcases.Maybe this place treats you OK if you are a major construction company. But they clearly are not interested in locals who are trying to do their own projects.

Good selection of lumber and building materials. They do not carry all of your hardware needs. But their is an Ace 1 block south. So the 2 add up for most of your handyman needs.

I have always had good service and help for Hayward Lumber, both here and at Santa Barbara.It would be nice for the person who gave the 1 star, to give a reason.

Good outdoor lumber yard you can drive up to stack of lumber and pick through it so long as you dont leave a mess
