Kilns coffee displays depth of care for flavor of roast. Esthetic of environment is bright, clean simplicity. Some reviewers are scared of the uncushioned chairs; my friends, family and I are not. Kiln rolls with a statement expressed in most friendly manner - simplify to the essence and decorate that essence only enough to still experience the core event, the human absorption of the bean. Oat milk makes us happy. Baked snacks with vanilla mix nice in belly with java. Some customers chew on the elements of atmosphere and art and decide it is hipster, modernist, trendy, chic or sophisticated. Actually they are in a mission of extruding the essence and are very focus on quality coffee. Perhaps they have skewed their own ethic to a degree by giving so much fodder for misinterpretation. This skew does give the joint a buzz of hyper artistic intellectual nonsense that flows in waves. Some pander to trends of the times keeps registers ringing and rent paid. A little too much accommodation of ridiculous views adds to the cup a joe a hint of flavor of collusion. When drinking hip vibe replaces taste for character of austerity, society drifts. Drifting 100 paces northwest of the buffalo on the corner of 4th and Main St carries you into Kiln Coffee Bar
Accidentally stumbled into this gem because I needed a caffeine fix and a toilet break. But wow! You walk in and immediately feel like you entered the local Apple store of coffee. Somehow theyve pulled off a look that is at once modern, bright, clean and still coffee-shop-cozy at the same time. The chaps working the counter were incredibly quick, pleasant and chatty as they discovered my tourist status. Gave me a couple of great recommends for lunch while fixing a very smooth but reasonably priced mocha. Can I move to GJ just to have my coffee here on Sunday mornings?
Kiln is easily one of the best places in the valley to get a well crafted coffee/espresso beverage. Never in this area have I experienced the consistent care the coffee artists put into each cup than I have at kiln. They take pride in what they do, where their beans come from, how much love they put into each serving. It really shows. Their seasonal espresso lattes are my favorite but the “Bowl-of-Soul” tea latte is exactly what a person needs to relax and soak in the warmth of a soothing beverage. The atmosphere is bright and makes for a comfortable workspace or social meet up, and the team is never anything but super warm and friendly. Try their pour-over if you don’t like milk based beverages!
Good coffee. Way too busy homecoming weekend. Dont know how busy they usually are.
It was so good - I sat and drank my first cup and then ordered a second for the road. Don’t pass this place up!A friend and I were recently traveling through the area on our way to Moab. Much of our coffee experiences prior to and after Kiln would be classified as “church coffee” ...watery, but convenient, so you choke it down.Kiln Coffee Bar was a wonderful surprise. Our drinks were well crafted and balanced in flavor. The staff was kind, engaging, and friendly. As an added bonus, Lulu Crepe was open (operates in Kiln several days per week) and provided a savory and beautiful crepe to compliment the coffee. Will definitely go back the next time I’m in the area!
Came into this shop for a quick coffee and ended up leaving with my whole day made! Not only do they make an AMAZING brown sugar latte, but they carry the coolest gear for my morning caffeine!I bought a mug and espresso cup [? Tiny] made by a local artist and I swear my coffee at home has never tasted better.Grab a kiln branded hydroflask and ask them to make you something great, there won’t be disappointment!
You could go anywhere in the universe and you would not be able to find another mocha as chocolatey and amazing as Kiln’s. They have the best coffee drinks with a variety of flavors and options, and all of their baked goods are wonderful as well. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this coffee shop is a must stop for anyone in Grand Junction.
I wrote a prior review that I realized needed to be adjusted. Kiln coffee is a very modern looking coffee shop. Very simple, very beautiful. I had a not so great experience the first time my husband and I went. Today we went back and couldn’t have been more happy with our experience and our coffee. If you haven’t yet, try their iced churro latte. You can smell the nodes and taste the drink just from the aromas! As a former barista and a coffee connoisseur I take my daily cup of coffee very seriously. As a missionary I have traveled around the world and tasted all different blends. Coffee is so important to me. Thank you Kiln for a great experience and an even greater cup of coffee. My family will be back and continue to come back.To sum it up, if you are looking for an appealing atmosphere, friendly staff and some of the best coffee you will taste... come here.
Friendly staff and great coffee. They were so sweet to my grandkids, even added marshmallows to the hot chocolates!
Recommended visit. The Chai Latte was delicious and actually had the little bit of chai spice thats missing so often.
Cool, smart, friendly, great tasting coffee, owners that constantly give back to the community…if I lived closer, I’d go everyday!
Favorite coffee shop in town, hands down. The atmosphere, beverages and snacks are so good!
Delicious latte and mocha. The folks at Kiln are experts at the craft. GJ is fortunate to have them!! Be sure to stop by and see (taste) fir yourself! 😋😋😋
Best 3rd wave coffee in grand junction. The pour overs are to die for! Awesome friendly staff!
Great coffee! Staff is really friendly.
The employees were so friendly and helpful in answering any questions I had! The coffee tasted fresh and it was nice and hot! They definitely use higher quality product! Social distancing was in place and it was nice and clean! Felt safe and happy and enjoyed every moment there :)
Great coffee and really friendly staff!
Best coffee in town. Staff is Awesome!
Visiting from Denver. Found this awesome coffee shop! Employees super nice. Its a chill spot:) Definitely recommend!
The best coffee shop in GJ and excellent pastries from Sweet Kiwi bakery... 😋
Impressed! I was a little nervous because it has a pretty trendy vibe, which some places put more effort into the atmosphere and not the actual product, but this didn’t disappoint. I just got a drip coffee and wasn’t expecting much, but this was a VERY good cup of coffee. The wife also got an extremely tasty iced oat milk vanilla latte, which was the right amount of sweet. Great coffee stop.
An excellent selection, and a very helpful and caring staff.
A great place to grab delicious coffee, tea, or kombucha. I love meeting people or doing business there.
Clean throughout, friendly service, vibey atmosphere, excellently smooth and rich coffee. Waaayyyyy better than a chain coffee shop. Ask the staff for recommendations. They always have great suggestions. Plus, they have house-brewed kombucha, heart-warming teas, and delectably tasty treats. Ive never left disappointed.
Been in a few times. Friendly, quick service. Have had a pour over, cold brew, and lattes. Always excellent. Fair prices. Modern, spacious, clean. (Except the restrooms but they appear to be shared by the building businesses so not sure who to call out.)
Everyone was so friendly and helpful! They did a great job with making my espresso and you can tell that e quality of the coffee is really good! The price was also better than I expected. I look forward to stopping here anytime that I am in grand junction!
This is a great place to go to get coffee on Main Street. Great quality and great service!
I highly recommend the churro iceed coffee, most of the staff is nice and chill and super inviting, there are a few that dont really seem super inviting but its always good coffee
Finally a high quality coffee shop that knows what the heck a cortado is! Yay!
Kiln tries really hard to be a craft coffee shop, and it does the best it can. The staff is friendly and the place looks nice. But it doesnt roast its own beans, and the coffees it imports are hit or miss. It seemes to be the closest you can get to craft coffee in Grandjunction though, so I usually go there when I have to stay awake for the drive back to Denver.
These baristas are some of the nicest people in town. They have gluten free pastry options, the price is right for the coffee, and great art for sale. 10/10 would recommend!
One of the best lattes Ive ever had. Lovely staff as well.
Great customer service!
Based only on one visit. Super friendly staff on a slow Thursday evening. Great tasting decaf espresso macchiato.
Omg the beat coffee ever
Walked into Kilns. Employees throughly cleaning an wiping tables. Immaculately clean!!
Love this little local coffee joint. They have all your caffeinated needs. Its got a cool feel to it as well, they are very involved with local artists and being a part of the community. I also commend them for doing their part to bring the conversation of mental health more to the forefront. Awesome work.
Great little shop. I believe locally owned. Very simple design inside but very comfortable and not like the big shops. I really like the people. Ill be back. Oh yeah coffee is great as well... :)
Great ServiceCoffee ☕ WonderfulNice Place to just BE 💞💟
Great mocha! Better than a chain store mocha.
Nice coffee shop. Good coffee. Limited breakfast items. Friendly service.
I always visit this coffee shop when Im in town, and for good reason! The staff are friendly, and take real care in preparing their coffee. By the third day, they already had my regular memorized- which just shows how much they pay attention to each of their customers! Try a mocha with oat milk; its delicious!!
Pretty sure this was the best oat milk mocha latte Ive ever had. Plus my wife LOVED the pottery coffee mugs.
You can go anywhere for an amazing cup of coffee, but its all about the people serving that amazing cup of coffee. David, Jonathon, and Jacob have worked so hard to build a community centered around a good cup of coffee. You can order your classic vanilla latte or try a new roast on pour over. Pretty awesome!
Best spro on GJ
Not your typical coffee shop. This is where they make you feel at home. The staff here are seriously some of the most giving and amazing humans Ive had the pleasure of meeting. And of course their coffees are just as amazing! Try a pour over, you cant go wrong there. These guys and gals truly know coffee!
Feels like family.
Great service. Reasonable price. The barista didnt have caramel flavor so he made it. Impressed completely. Worth going to
Super nice staff!! Allison (joshua?) and Levis art was lovely!! Ill be back
In addition to a great cup of coffee, the staff is very friendly and cares enough to remember customers name. Kiln is extremely community minded and provides a great atmosphere for meeting whether it be business or social.
Delicious coffee in a great location! My husband and I stopped in while we were walking around downtown, and it was the perfect place to hang out for a few minutes and get some delicious coffee. The employees were very friendly and made us feel right at home. Also, they have oat milk, which was an awesome surprise since it is hard to come by at coffee shops. Overall, a great place, would definitely go back!
Working across the street, it was the closest place to grab a coffee. Turns out, if you mention kiln at all, everyone wants one! Daily, if not twice a day, not only because the location but the coffee is consistently better than anyone around. The girls and I at posh LOVE the coffee, pastries, and staff here!
The cappuccino was excellent!
This is a unique coffee bar experience! Delicious coffee and homemade syrups way better then any chain coffee shop! Could have a little more comfortable seating and atmosphere but ultimately one of the best spots to get coffee in grand junction! Totally mom friendly as well and the staff is so accommodating and knowledgeable.
This is the best coffee shop on the western slope! The have amazing drinks and some of the best locally roasted beans Ive ever had. The owners are amazing guys who take time to get to know you. The customer service is incredible. The setting is modern and for whatever reason I bust out work when Im there. The people who get their coffee here are innovators and creatives and people who simply like good coffee. I cant speak more highly about this place.
I havent been to any coffee shop like this. The coffee is smooth and creamy. The employees are friendly.
Kiln is my absolute favorite coffee house in Grand Junction. From the delicious roast, to the warm and inviting atmosphere, this place is the perfect location to relax and read or focus and work on a project. Also they make one of my favorite vanilla lattes of all time.
I had a great conversation with the roaster and enjoyed the pour-over very much! The shop is very modern and clean. Their coffee reminds me of the fresh roasted coffee from back home! I will definitely be returning for their beans and great customer service!
Good coffee. Nice people! Has a clean sophisticated vibe. A nice change from the usual dark and cozy coffee shop.
There coffee was delicious and the staff was friendly. Love the atmosphere of this place
Their espresso blend was on point. Great place.
Such nice people and excellent coffee! Very knowledgeable about local things to do! Highly recommend!
Great coffee, stellar kombucha on tap, super friendly. Thanks!
We were looking for somewhere to kill a few hours in Grand Junction and Kiln Coffee fit the bill! The staff are knowledgeable and kind and the environment is welcoming. I would definitely come back any time I’m in Grand Junction!
Very good coffee and very clean. Friendly service.
The coffee was very good, the service was fast, and the atmosphere was relaxing. Thanks!
Went in for a LuLu Crépes and some chia, all yummy! And a good deal❣️
Friendly service and noticeable efforts to make this a nice place. Overall somewhat lacking in atmosphere largely due to the glaring overhead fluorescent lighting and general empty feel of the space. Some comfy chairs or couches and some softer lightning would go a long way to improve the comfort level. WiFi was very slow and it was hard to get any work done. This place has promise and they have pleasing design elements, just needs a few more steps to compete the whole concept and make it an enjoyable place to spend some time and drink some coffee or tea.
The staff is always kind and receptive. The way they make their coffee is amazing. So smooth and flavorful.
When kiln opened I thought it was great. It was a quieter place to get a coffee but the last few times have been terrible. It seems like the focus is more on being trending and hipster then actually just making a decent drink. I would probably choose any other place to go in hopes of a better drink
Great place to study or even meet with a friend or two. Super clean and open atmosphere. Their pour overs are top notch and they always have a nice selection of local roasters.
Good coffee. Must try any latte with their oat milk (its some sort of milk substitute, may not be oat). Service is fast and the vibe is of course hipster but not in a intimidating way. I do wish they had a little more variety but nothing less than a tasty cup of joe.
Great cappuccino and the cinnamon pecan roll was awesome. Good atmosphere and great barrista. Thank you for the experience.
No frills, minimalist coffee shop. Seems very new. Stopped in for coffee on a Sunday morning, almost empty, but got a double espresso over ice and my boyfriend got a pour over. The espresso was a bit more bitter than I like but the pour over was quite good.
Fantastic coffee! Take advantage of the Oatly non dairy option for your next latte...delicious, as are the Strawberry/Thyme scones! Beautiful and clean, a great space to meet friends or just get some quiet time for yourself. Very friendly staff! Worth the drive if you dont work downtown.
Clean and super friendly baristas!
Wow! Smells incredible in here! Friendly peeps and the shop is really great. Totally worth a quick detour from the highway.
This is a tough review to write since I normally love coffeehouses and try to support them whenever possible. Independent coffeehouses are an important part of any community and we should spend our money there when possible (versus the corporate chains). But Kiln is a 2 star at best....its like walking into a hospital exam room. The light is glaring, the walls are bare, the furniture is sparse... the whole place assaults you with a very intentional minimalist sterile vibe. Aside from the antiseptic environment, the coffee is good, the service is friendly, and the prices are par with the other coffee joints out there. I just wish the owners would choose a different non-white paint color, dim the lights, put some big art on the big empty walls, and get some comfortable chairs or something. Until then, swing and a miss, sadly.
Regular coffee, Mayan Mocha & Americano coffee were delicious. Nice place to study. Very spacious place. Friendly staff. Boy! We were impressed with the artistic ability of the barista creating figures of animals on our coffees.
This new and welcome addition to Grand Junctions historic downtown has a distinctly modern feel. If youre into clean lines and bright light, this is a great place to be. Service was quick and friendly, and the cookies are quite tasty. I also had a hot chocolate, which frankly wasnt very chocolaty. But Im picky like that. While we were there, a gentleman from a local homeless youth program stopped in to pick up donated foodstuffs, so its pretty awesome that they support local charity.I havent sampled their entire menu, but if the cookie and cocoa were any indication, this is a very solid establishment, and I wish them success for years to come.
Kiln coffee is so clean and pleasant. The atmosphere is calming and inviting and the servers were very friendly and professional. Its a great place to relax and have an amazing cup of coffee.
Staff are always friendly and make delicious coffee. Local artists display their work on the walls. Great place to grab a latte and do some work!
They have very tasty coffee. Two flavor shots to pick from. I wish there was more.. The reason for the three stars; The chairs are cold, and hard. Not a place you would want to relax at.
Staff are super nice and definitely into making great coffee. They really seem interested in creating an inviting atmosphere. The pour over coffee was awesome and reasonably priced.
Amazing coffee and great staff. Look forward to coming here every time we are in town. Get the COLD BREW!!
