We contracted with Grand Rapids Glass Block to replace three (3) of our basement windows with glass block windows. Paid the initial deposit and were told we were scheduled for install on the afternoon of November 27. No one showed or called on the 27th. Had to contact the owner, Wes, multiple times to lock down a date. Wes finally showed up to do the work on December 16. I showed Wes around and the first thing he mentioned was he forgot to bring a tarp to put down. I offered him an old blanket we had...more on that later. Attached are photos of the before and after. Youll notice before, no cracks, no gaps, etc. Wes caused multiple cracks and left the cracks and gaps unfilled. I can actually feel cold air coming in due to the lack of mortar. I contacted Wes immediately upon inspection and among other things he mentioned it was just an oversight and didnt realize he had left a mess. When I recently found that Wes took it upon himself to use one of our Norwex towels to clean up the mortar I couldnt believe it, now that is ruined as well. The pictures show the lack of quality in work and speak for themselves. If after this review Wes ever comes out to correct the work as he promised Ill gladly post an update, until then I recommend you look elsewhere.Still no response from no problem Wes. I hoped wasnt the case but its important to let others know what my experience was. To clarify my immediate response to the mess Wess left. Wess stated in relevant part the following, Its an oversight, the mortar may have slumped....I didnt realize I left a mess...I may have bumped a window that can cause that too... There is nothing messed up I cannot easily address. The parge coat that broke away during demolition, can be done anytime, I generally include i as a last step - I didnt mean miss on that step that window but I guess I already said it was an oversight... I will be sure to help work this out for you and get it nicely done. I can only say Ive had a lot on my mind too and had to separate my wife recently so maybe my game was a little off...I agree that I happily told Wes to use a blanket to catch the mess. However I never told him he could use anything else but he added fuel to the fire when he apparently freely decided to use a Norwex towel ($30) which I never told him he could use to clean off the mortar. Wes has never reached out to me to correct his admitted problems after I posted this. Why should a full paying customer have to take another day off of work to wonder if hell show up or not? All together its clear evidence Wes is not committed to doing quality work or fixing his admitted errors. Again, avoid at all costs.

I had a rock kicked through a basement window, one that I should have had replaced long ago as it was very drafty. I called Grand Rapids Glass Block to replace the window with glass block... It was not a hassle any step of the way and I am glad with my choice to use them. I will be using them again in the future. Great work, Great attention to installation. I highly recommend them.

There are few companies out there that truly enjoy what they do and share that passion and purpose with their clients. I not only received service above and beyond the norm, but I had great conversation with the guys and even learned a thing or two about the installation process. Get your glassblock here. Period.

Wes was great to work with. Hes responsive by phone, explained our options and his process very thoroughly, and even suggested we bump our install day out a bit so that we would have an ideal mortar setting temperature/climate. Wes did not work too quickly, and ensures that he does his work with quality in mind. Were very happy both with the work performed, but also in how easy it was to deal with him. Weve recommended Wes to multiple neighbors already, and will continue to do so going forward. We did read one negative review when we were doing our quoting/research, but that did not seem to fit the overall narrative of his business, and we can confidently say that was not our experience at all. Strong recommend to use Grand Glass Block and Window!

No complaints whatsoever. Did the work exactly as described, in one day, for what seemed like a very low price. I wish all home improvement work was this easy to get done.

Wes and his crew were great to work with. They explained our options well, customized our quote based on our needs, were very flexible and responsive. They also did not pressure us to commit immediately without exploring other options like some companies do. Their work was thorough and detailed and we are very happy with the egress window and basement slider window they installed.

I had my basement windows replaced earlier this year at the end of January in between all the cold spells we had this winter. When I called in to get a quote and schedule a visit (I didnt have to be present but happen to be there on my lunch break when he arrived) he was very polite. Gave me an approximate cost over the phone of what It would be. Very reasonable price. Im a do it yourself kind of person, but some things need to be left to the professionals. So glad I chose them! My windows are great. They couldnt have done a better job. Thanks again guys!

I used Grand for an egress window. I highly recommend them. They did everything perfect, on time and for less $ than the big company competition. 2 guys, simple and accessible. They completed the job in 2 days just like they stated and on the exact days they originally quoted. Ill be using them again in the future for 2 other projects.

I emailed GGBW in regards to replacing a couple basement windows for me at the beginning of June, sent the measurements and pictures as requested for a quote on 6/17, was told they would get back to me, that was 12 days ago. No word. I did follow up, still no answer.
