I have an old Ariens S-16 tractor. Whenever I need parts or information, George and his crew are always there to help. Georges Dad started the Business years ago and George Jr. lives mowers since he was young. Sometimes he is brutally honest in his advice but that is what I expect.On the phone with them now ordering parts for the gear drive on my mower deck

I stopped by a week ago to buy a mulching blade kit for my Honda mower. Knew they had been around a very long time, a good sign I thought, and it was on my way home. I was pleased to see upon driving in that they were a Honda dealer.Spoke with Steve, their lead mechanic & very knowledgeable, and he said he needed some numbers off my mower to order the matching kit, that there were several variations. Same day I called in those requested numbers to Glen?? (another service guy) as Steve was tied up, gave my phone number and said to call me with a price and order the kit. That was a week ago.So I called today simply expecting that Steve had ordered the parts, but had not called. I asked to speak with Steve, but the owner (George??) intercepted the call and said they had not ordered the parts. No phone call to say why, just did not order them. His next line was sad/pathetic; That is a very old mower, and rather than ordering extremely expensive parts for it, you should just consider buying a new one.My response was a question, was he refusing to order parts for an older but still great mower because he wanted to sell me a new one??? Then he simply blubbered something like of course not. When I asked if he trusted the knowledge of his lead mechanic Steve, he said, of course, are you going to make a big issue over a mower blade??I shared my reluctance for having ordered parts through them, and hung up.Either the founder has absolutely lost his mind, or I did, for having ventured in there. I had the parts I wanted in hand 4 days later via an internet order from Utah, and the mower works fabulous. Perhaps this is more the reason why mom & pop stores disappear.
