Every time I called to make a reservation the experience is very wonderful. Employees are polite and informative. I am usually making a reservation for someone else and I am not familiar with the equipment, but I am always met with patience and understanding.
Most of our rentals are on short notice and United Rentals always comes through for us.
Delivery was on time and professional. I was especially pleased that the operator that delivered was able to position the lift where we needed it to get started on our project.
Timely delivery on all orders. great field representation.
Very helpful.
Everything went smoothly
The Greensboro Team rocks.
I called and reserved a dump trailer Wednesday morning, explaining that my church group was going to do volunteer hurricane cleanup near Wilmington this weekend. They reserved the trailer for me to pick up on Friday afternoon and return Monday morning. I then asked about the size of the hitch needed to pull the trailer, and was told it had a pintel hitch.I went looking for the truck-end of a pintel, since none of my three hitches I own were specifically pintel-type hitches. I called later in the afternoon to find out the size ball required, and was first told that there was no size on the ball. Of course theres a size, I said. Its either a 2 inch or 2 5/16 inch. I got put on hold for about ten minutes, then somebody else got on the phone. I explained what I needed to know so I would have the right hitch when I showed up, and that I was also concerned about the suspension height on the trailer. I have a big Ford F250 with 20 inch rims, and I typically have a three inch drop on my hitch ball so the trailer isnt traveling at a weird angle down the highway.I asked the second person if they could measure the distance from the ground to the hitch on the tongue of the level trailer, because I wanted to make sure I had the right adapter. More confusing questions, and then he said he needed to go measure it. On hold for another ten minutes, so now Ive been on the phone for almost 25 minutes. Finally a third person gets on and asks me what Im trying to do. I said pull the dump trailer with an F250 with 20 inch rims. No, he said, what are you doing with the trailer? Like I told the lady this morning, Im going to Wallace, this side of Wilmington, to do volunteer hurricane cleanup. Well, sorry, but I cant let you rent it. What? Why not? Thats our policy; I was told by the higher-ups that we cant let it go to the coast. I asked if it was the distance or the intended use that was the problem. He restated that it couldnt go to the coast. I said, so if I was using it for storm cleanup in Greensboro, I could rent it? Yes, because thats local. I asked what the geography had to do with it if I was paying the rental fee and bringing it back on time. He said, its just our policy.I asked several times for clarification, and why I wasnt told about this policy until later in the day and after I had been on the phone for half an hour (just to make sure I had the appropriate hitch). More non-answers, just made up policies. He then suggested I try their branch in Wilmington, and I explained that there is nothing available to rent anywhere near the coast, and hasnt been for a month. He looked it up and confirmed exactly what I told him. After another request for an explanation on their heretofore unmentioned policy, he said was just doing what he was told. I said that was unfortunate, and that I would certainly never rent anything from them again, and that I would let everybody else know about their policy that prevents people from helping other people, even if theyre paying full price on a rental. So now you know; tell your friends.
