Ordered lunch today for the team at our shop to cook on the grill and the spread they gave us was nothing short of spectacular! Such a friendly and helpful staff too! Would recommend it to anyone who loves a great local food place with an amazing atmosphere and staff that goes above and beyond for their customers. Absolutely love this place!!!!
Our favorite spot in Guilford! This place has it all. You can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner. For prepared food, they have breakfast sandwiches, egg plates, burgers, fries, giant salads, chicken nuggets, kids meals, and more. There’s also a pastry cooler with crossaints, muffins, donuts, cookies, cupcakes, etc. Finally, there are really good soups that change daily. At the drink bar you will find coffee creations, smoothies made with real fruit not those weird mixes some places have, hot chocolate drinks, teas, and milkshakes. For easy dinner, there are prepared meals to go in the cooler. The butcher has delicious cuts of meat and seafood. There are frozen crab cakes and other delights. Plus a cheese and meat cooler and a small selection of non-perishable items like pasta and crackers. The staff is always helpful and friendly. There are plenty of tables indoors and outside. This place is worth a visit!
A great place to grab a quick bite to eat. The atmosphere is a bit busy and crowded, but thats normal for a deli.
We were looking for a unique but special place to host our wedding rehearsal dinner, and after seeing The Marketplace featured as a reception venue on a wedding blog, we decided to look into it.The Marketplace catering staff was honest and reliable throughout the process. I never felt like they were trying to take advantage of us as happened so often with other seasoned wedding vendors. The price they quoted was the actual price (no surprise up-charges after the fact), and the planning process was simple. On the night of the dinner, the Marketplace staff was friendly and relaxed, and we were pleasantly surprised that all of their house wine tasted great (in fact, much better than the wine our wedding caterer included for the open bar). We had dropped off centerpieces earlier in the day, and the staff was kind enough to arrange them and the tables as we requested in advance, so it looked really nice when we arrived.Even though our wedding reception was lovely, I actually had a better time at the rehearsal dinner. If youre looking for a venue filled with character and want to avoid the Wedding Industrial Complex, The Marketplace is the perfect spot.
Best Italian Grinder Ive had all year! Over- stuffed full of delicious cold cuts. Friendly and caring associates. Have always loved this place.
Food was OK, wait was long, but what really got them one star was how rude the staff at the sandwich station was. We took some friends from out of town to this place, waited over half an hour for 4 sandwiches, so I went up to the ordering desk to check, and the girl literally rolled her eyes at me while saying “you ordered a lot of stuff so it’s going to take a while.” How I offended some business by ordering “too much stuff” was beyond me. Not worth it.
Absolutely awful/ rude service. You will wait forever for your order.I try to support local, but this is painful
The place is always nice and fun. I really love stopping in here when I have the chance. The inside smells great since they are always making coffee-based drinks. The staff behind the counter are always very friendly. I have only bought drinks and snacks here so I cant talk about the food. Its a bit expensive but definitely one of the highlights of the Guilford Green and worth checking out for sure.
Cute, quant little place across from the Guilford Green. They have awesome made to order salads with tons of ingredient options. A pretty decent sandwich and grill menu as well. We live 45 mins away and always stop on when we head that way!
I just went here and placed an order for 2 sandwiches and a salad. It took 35 minutes to get our food. This is not acceptable! Then had to wait another 5 minutes in line to pay, if we hadnt already wasted so much time we would have walked out. I am not sure who manages this place but they need to improve the experience, I will never go back and would definitely not recommend it to anyone. After all that wait not even an offer to discount the food order. All patrons were upset!
Great Meat Market poor sandwich station. Wish I could give 5 stars for the Meat Market part of the store as they have been terrific for so many years. Great meats and knowledgeable staff.Unfortunately I dont really want to go back for the other parts of the Marketplace. Too many poor experiences with staff that either dont care or unaware of how to give good customer service. I have had to wait in line while the staff is having a personal conversation instead of paying attention to the long line. Other experiences where the person making the food does not include everything that is supposed to be included. Some of this is pretty simple. We were all super excited when they opened and there is still incredible potential for this place. Hope they can get it together.
I’ve always really enjoyed it here. The food is good, and there’s a great selection for salads or sandwiches. I especially like that it’s in the middle of Guilford, nearby there is a lot of different stuff to do with friends or visiting family.
Adorable place, to-die-for baked goods, but frequent frustrating waits, due to disorganization, & young, clueless employees.
The Marketplace is very quaint with excellent food and service. Our food from the deli was made fresh to order, and it was absolutely delicious.
This place is awesome! The portions are huge and well priced - I got a salad and it was big enough for two of us to share and still be stuffed. Love that they have a bar and the seating was comfortable. Definitely check them out if youre in the area.
The mother clucker is DELICIOUS!! Great food very nice staff
Went for lunch and loved the ambiance, full of people, but not crowded and good music.Great and tasty sandwiches, ordered the BBQ pork and something else mi wife ordered and we liked both. The coffee after was fresh and big and liked the carrot cake. Will be back.
The Marketplace catered our Rehearsal Dinner at Smith Farm Gardens on August 23, 2019 and they were fabulous. We live out of state and Dee Jacobs coordinated everything via phone calls and email. Dee thought of everything! I recommend The Marketplace without any reservations!
Whenever we are in town visiting from NY we always make a point to eat here at least twice! Delicious food and drinks (coffee, tea, smoothies), very friendly staff, and dog friendly outdoor seating! Always a great experience and a staple for when we visit Guilford!
Good food, service staff is young, sometimes unaccustomed to know how to be with it. EG, I ordered a steak salad at the, Order Here sign. The young man replied, You need to order that over there pointing to my left. When I moved over, the young lady told her CO-WORKER, not me, were out of Steak Salad. I got her attention. She eventually said she can make a chicken salad. I said, fine. Can you make the Steak Salad but with chicken? She replied, No. Were out of the Steak Salad.
Great food. They make good pastries, such as macaroons. Great place for lunch. I love their sandwiches/ sushi. They have a huge variety of hot chocolate which you can also get with almond milk. I definitely recommend it.
The marketplace falls short to the food center. The meat prices went up, the quality decreased, and the meat is hardly fresh. The butchers always used to make sure they only served you the fresh red meat, not the old brown stuff. Maybe they arent selling meat fast enough anymore. My family always bought all their meat here, but we have taken our business elsewhere. We want to support our small businesses, but we cant pay higher prices for poorer quality.
Ive had mixed experiences eating here in person, but we just catered an event from here and everything was terrific--the food, the service, the pricing, and the on-time delivery. I would eagerly use them again. Way to go!
I came in from out of town numerous times, all I can say is there are far better places in this town for food and drinks. The lines are ridiculous, there is no clear order of where to go and the staff is understaffed. Ordering from an actual restaurant is much quicker and at least you would get a good meal.
Food is great. Worth a little bit of a wait when its busy. Manager Tom is always friendly and happy to help. And its great to see all the high school students gaining valuable experience outside of the classroom. They dont get that at GHS!
Place is not what it used to be. No attention to the customer experience. Staff too busy talking amongst themselves. When I checked out there was no greeting. The fellow just kept speaking to someone else behind the counter. No thank you and just handed me a rumpled receipt. Happened last time too.
What a great place for lunch. Several people can go and we can all get whatever we want!! I had a salad with a large piece of salmon for about $10. I ate half and had the rest the next day. Both large meals!! I like that I could get olive oil and vinegar and not a premixed sugary dressing.
The meat market here is 10 stars, They are very helpful and will answer your questions. A special order is no problem, the meat market is a must try and that why the place gets 5 stars. As for the rest of the place it is understaffed. The cashier has no knowledge of any of there products There is a long wait at the deli and the deli case could use a good cleaning. They should look at it from the customer side the stainless ends are dirty and the whole case need a cleaning. The macaroni salad and potato salad have that look that theyve been out with air too long. Maybe they should cover them with plastic wrap even though they are in the case. I go in there a lot just for the meat market which is reasonably priced gives you a great service the rest of the place needs help
The most understaffed establishment in town. For how busy it is, they should hire more people or at least have a consistent staff and not a revolving door of high school employees. I understand the owner want to make money, but not having the staff actually hurts your customer service. I’ve observed the owner only help when it involves a high profile Guilford resident. She should be ashamed of herself... however I will say one thing the Rossa’s are amazing and the consistent staff they have is great. The food and drinks are nice. Ownership sucks.
Fantastic head chef Andrea Dante cooks the most delicious foods for the Marketplace. From Catering to daily meals, you should stop here. Yay Andrea and your team. So thrilled to have found you! If you want a quick stop do try the soups. For a longer stay try the sandwiches and stay for a fabulous coffee.
3.5 stars would be better, staff at deli was great. Sandwich (Santa fe) was good, tropical mango smoothie with yogurt, good, mac and cheese...i wish they just gave me craft, it was hands down the worst mac and cheese I have ever had and in addition was room temp which didnt help its case. Overall I would go again just not the mac and cheese they definitely need a recipe change.
I remember the space as a local supermarket. It still retains a little of that flavor. Casual, family friendly. Various stations for salads, soups, sandwiches & desserts. Everything seems fresh, & yummy.
What a wonderful quaint restaurant and market. Grab a few friends for lunch and dine in or buy from something from their excellent selection of fresh meats and deserts. Haven’t been disappointed yet!
Fun, modern hometown market. Good ice coffee and sandwiches. Could work on the flow of getting your food and paying. Friendly staff!
Pricey, but in line with the neighborhood. Really good breakfast sandwiches. Many types of in-house prepared foods available. Accepts credit cards.
Been shopping there for over ten years. Get lunch there once a week. Sandwiches are great deals and bread is the best. Steak sandwiches are from REAL steak taken from meat dept and grilled in front of you. They had it rough over winter with a roof collapse but overcame that and open for full deli again. They also carry black angus beef which is why they are a little pricey but they run a meat special daily so go and look.
If you enjoy investing into a business that has rude staff members that play with their hair and earrings and face, don’t smile or greet you, this is your place. Cool building that no one bothers to clean (look behind the counters, it’s filthy) while they are standing there doing nothing, unorganized, NOT fresh, served frozen foods. Bummed, had higher hopes for this place. They clearly know better but choose to be lazy, which is the worst kind of business.
Ordered a chicken cutlet sub, got home and of course it was it had two cutlets that were cold and soggy. I didn’t think I needed to specify whether a chicken cutlet sub needed to be hot but I guess at the marketplace the obvious isn’t so obvious. Seems like the staff is dazed and confused. Too many great deli’s in the area to waste time trying this again.
The food here is generally good, not to mention they have a large selection of snacks already on the selves. When me and my friends want a place to chill and have something to eat we generally find that this is the best place to do it
During our 20 minute wait for our sandwiches I had time to watch the deli kid use his personal phone to text numerous times (real sanitary) and stand around a bunch. When I asked if our sandwiches were ready, he explained pressed sandwiches take a minute. I assume they should have been toasted then, they were soggy. Waste of time and money.
I consider myself a regular at the Marketplace and in order for me to consider myself a regular, the food has to be amazing-- and it is. Protip: if you have Celiac Disease or a gluten allergy, the Marketplace makes their own gluten free bread-- shout out to chef Andrea! Try the Californian sandwich, its life changing.
Good food and service but hours are horrible and inconvenient.
Wonderful staff,outstanding food,friendly atmosphere.
Good food and easy place to stop for a quick bite.
Love this quaint little grocery store/ deli/ sandwich & coffee shop. I guess the problem is not knowing how to define the place lol. I do miss the shelving that used to be in there when it was still Guilford Food Center- it had much more of a small town grocery feel back then and now it feels more coffee shopish. Not necessarily a bad thing but I did love the guilford food center in all its charm.
Great salads!! Friendly staff and wonderful baked goods!
Confused why the women working the smoothie station was allergic to strawberries. Probably not a good station for her?
Delightful! Staff, hot chocolate & setting made for an even sweeter time with my friend
Great place for lunch salads sandwiches cakes and gluten free lunch options lots of tables inside and two outside
Great place awesome food with a great atmosphere.
The house blend coffee is excellent, brewed just right too.
How many yuppies does it take to get an order correct? I dont know. There were like 10 working behind the counter and none of them could do it.
Something is wrong with their coffee. It’s kind of bitter and so I suggest they change to Starbucks coffee beans.
Great choice for family breakfast
The food was delicious especially the veganase sandwich (Im not vegan) 5 stars for food but the layout is a little odd and off putting if its your first time there
Delicious sandwiches and deli items.
Had the deluxe BLT WOW!!! Great meal and atmosphere!!
