Hallak Cleaners repaired a damaged cashmere jacket for me. They approximated and strengthened the area where the tear occurred with the end result looking very good. They saved my jacket. I was very impressed with the professionality by which they operate. They have free pick up and delivery. I also found that their price was about half of what I anticipated. A very good experience.

HORRIBLE customer service experience.I have used Hallak periodically for the few items of high-end clothing that I own (they are way too expensive for normal day-to-day dry-cleaning) and they have historically lived up to their reputation of being the best of the best for top shelf labels. It seems however, that they have taken a MASSIVE fall from the top in terms of their customer service.I live in Jersey City, and it takes me about 30-45 minutes to get to their Hackensack location and about an hour to get to their Manhattan store, so the only day I can go is Saturday as they have significantly shortened their hours, and I work for a living during the week.Earlier today, I went to pick up my Canada Goose jacket and a Burberry shirt that I had dropped off last weekend (to the tune of $200 !!!!). Traffic was terrible, and I pulled in sometime between 2:59 and 3:00PM ( they literally close as early as 3 now) . As I am rushing toward the door, an employee gets out of her car with the engine running and yells (like literally aggressively yells) that they are closed. I told her that I had driven from Jersey City and pretty much begged her to give me my clothes. She absolutely, unapologetically, flippantly refused -even though she OBVIOUSLY had clocked out early and was already in her car ready to drive away at 2:59pm. Absolutely unbelievable! The worst and most insulting part, was that her attitude told me that she basically viewed me as a second-class nuisance that DARED to ask for her help and thereby threatened to spoil her early escape from the miserable inconvenience of having to do her job.I called the Manhattan store and asked to speak to a manager, and was told by Tracy (who at least had the BASIC customer service competency to sincerely apologize and agree that what had happened was completely unacceptable) that management had left for the day. Guess that explains why things like this happen since nobody is holding the employees accountable. For $200 to clean 2 items of clothing, I dont think its out of line for me to expect that Hallaks employees would have the basic empathy and courtesy to help me during business hours (even if its right before closing) after Ive driven 45 minutes out of my way, past dozens and dozens of other dry cleaners, to patronize their business. I guess they must have plenty of other customers though (for now at least) given that they feel so comfortable being unbelievably rude and turning away customers because they punched out early, so I wont be bothering them with my business any longer...

I hardly write reviews but whenever I have a very bad experience Ill make a post. Ok so I searched NJ for a top leather specialist. Decided to go to Hallaks based on reviews to get a leather jacket cleaned and conditioned. Took them two weeks to get it cleaned, conditioned and pressed. The outside leather looked great after picking it up but I noticed all this sticky white stains all over the inside liner of the jacket. Prob got there when they were cleaning the inside edges of the jacket but seriously?? Cmon man!!!I paid good money for the jacket and cleaning but I couldnt believe this happened. Dont they check the jacket after they finish their work? I know mistakes happen but that was an unprofessional move.I picked up the jacket Friday and noticed it that night. I call them up the next morning but they said they didnt have anyone on production to take a look at the jacket and told me to come back on Monday. I couldnt wait that long so I took it elsewhere. Im sure they would of done the right thing and removed the stains but they lost my trust with my garments. For the prices they charge, I thought I was getting professional work done. They lost a good client as I will be taking my garments elsewhere.

Place is a joke. Wanted to charge me almost $100 for one pair of pants to taper and hem. I gave one star because of the one young lady who was very pleasant and courteous. Other than that, save your money. Support a Mom and Pop shop who do just as good or better work. Should also maybe train the rest of your staff a thing or 2 about customer service.

I’m not one who usually posts reviews but I feel the need to with this place. The prices are outrageous. $7.10 for 1 regular dry cleaned dress shirt. $12 for a dress shirt with a pocket in front because if it has a pocket they need to hand wash it. $21 for regular dry cleaned dress pants. Regular dry cleaning for 3 shirts and 1 dress pant was $48. Outrageous

Hallek Cleaners restored my mother’s wedding gown. I was anxious about the process. Jaiacinth and Joe Hallek were so knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. The dress is beautiful. My mother was married in 1957 and now my daughter will wear it this summer, 2020. Thank you so much. Recommend highly.Adding after wedding, delayed by Covid to August 2021Hallak Cleaners restored my mother’s 1957 gown beautifully and carefully, and then pressed it for the wedding. They were so careful with the delicate silk and lace fabrics. My daughter was just married in it, it looked perfect. Incredible, really. And - the original wearer, her 93 year old grandmother and namesake, was there to share the joy. Thank you so much Mr. Hallak and the fabulous bridal staff for using your skill to help make such a special thing possible.

Hallak can get any stain out. They can make a garment look brand new. Yes, they are expensive, but that is because the quality of their work and the level of service is outstanding. They once took a skirt of mine, with more than a hundred mashed knife pleats, and fixed the pleats. Every other cleaner I brought the skirt to said it was an impossible job. Except for Hallak.

Four days before my sons wedding, I still didnt have my gown altered properly after going to two different seamstresses, so I called Hallak cleaners to see if they could help me. After telling them my tale of woe, they told me to come right down and they would make things right. They saved the day! Angel the seamstress couldnt have been nicer (she calmed me down and said everything would be fine) and she was right! She immediately saw the problems, and two days later, I picked up my perfectly altered and pressed mother of the bride gown!I highly recommend Hallak Cleaners for any alteration needs!

Alright. The first time I brought my snowboarding jacket here, they simply turned it into a piece of art at a reasonable $50.00ish. I even received a call regarding some issues with my velcro falling apart which they offered to fix but I refused. Perfect! The second time. The jacket was cleaned well. Cannot deny that. For a whopping $75.00!!! The hell is this? Not to mention, upon pick up I was charged another $25.00 for a pocket tear repair! Not only nothing was fixed but I did not receive any prior notice. I picked up the jacket early morning and was in extreme hurry to leave to Vermont so I didnt bother arguing with any of the staff.Do yourself a solid, avoid this establishment. If a business cannot be somewhat consistent then it cannot trusted.EDIT #1: I have received a letter from the cleaners with a refund in form of a check. This not only stunned me, but I was gladly pleased to see that although mistakes were made, the Hallak Cleaners listened and stood up to the challenge.Really appreciate it guys! Way to stand behind your customers.

I took a basic chiffon bridesmaid dress here to have cups sewn in, the dress hemmed, and the top taken in. It came out to a whopping $135, when I picked the dress up it had all pulls in the chiffon, and you can clearly see a heavy seam in the cup of the dress. I had to immediately bring it to another dry cleaner to get it fixed and taken in even more since it still didnt fit, but the first seamstress insisted it was fine. The other cleaner charged only $20 and could have it done in 2 days. This place is outrageously overpriced - the first set of alterations wasnt even a rush - they had my dress for 3 weeks. The itemized breakdown was $25 to sew in cups (that I provided), $35 to take in the bust (which was done poorly), and $75 (ridiculous) for a straight hem, which was the only part that actually came out okay.I might as well have thrown $135 in the garbage.UPDATE: I would like to update this review to reflect that Hallak Cleaners reached out to me to offer me a refund for my alterations and a free cleaning of the dress after the wedding. They also offered for me to come back to have it fixed but it was already at another cleaners and I had to leave for the wedding right after picking it up. Still not happy with the hassle of what happened, but at least they did the right thing.
