This place was very good. My whole group decided to stop here on our way traveling through, as we was traveling overnight and this was open 24 hours. They had so many great options to choose from on the menu and they had a full menu even at 1 in the morning. Will for sure be back. Great service and great food. 24 hours a huge plus!

Kendra was very friendly and quick getting our order of steak tips over noodles. The homemade soup was tasty with lots of vegetables and meat along with wide noodles. There food is fresh made and large portions at a very reasonable price. In The restaurant has a large parting lot as was the large roomy dining area which was handicapped friendly. This is our second time there.

The restaurant was clean, however, the friendliness of the staff left a bit to be desired. The home fries were pretty good. The pancakes were doughy. The scrapple was an off brand and was not very appetizing. I would have given the diner 3 stars if the waitress was friendly despite the low quality of the food. This establishment is a below average greasy spoon.

I had heard some mixed reviews and decide to try it out with my parents/family when they came to visit. Very glad we did! Staff was friendly, seemed to know lots of the customers personally,, the place is large and clean, lots of cakes on display. Variety of food, i got the fried veal with seafood bisque (choice of soup or salad and 2 sides) and pickled beets and pepper cabbage (sorta like coleslaw but with sweet/vinegary pickled peppers in in, its amazing and my first time having it). Other food my family has was great as well, my mom had the roast beef, dad had broiled scallops (large portion, not over or under cooked) with cream cheese and apple butter (even gave extra apple butter) and allowed him to do a baked potato instead of mashed potatoes, and my sister loved her gyro.They have some arcade games out front and even a bitcoin machine which Ive never seen before.

Just what a diner should be... Great comfort food, cozy, home-y service, and happy friendly staff to wrap up the experience! The scrapple was cooked perfectly, not to over/under done, omelet was just right, over easy eggs the perfect spill-over... I dont eat hash browns, but even they looked good. Oh, and they have all the jam choices, not just grape! The orange marmalade on my rye toast so made my day... :)

Im giving three stars because although its been a while Ive been here before and the breakfast was always good. Went there early this morning and order the Delmonico steak. My server was lovely and the service was great despite being the only person there. That being said, the food was absolutely disgusting. Im a big guy with a high caloric intake and its really hard to prepare a steak in a way that I wont eat. Low quality beef, and it was served to me gray and greasy and fatty like it had been done on a McDonalds griddle. I couldnt even finish it it was so bad and had to go to Sheetz after.

Sunday lunch after golf today....hearty, down home food Had the fried seafood platter which was pretty good...not a huge fan of their crab cake but all else was good Hubby had a cheeseburger club (never heard of that before) try their side, pepper slaw....green peppers and slaw in white vinegar and sugar...was tasty!

We like this place because the food is good and there is hardly ever a wait to be seated. The staff is nice. As with all restaurants, there are always going to be food items that arent very good. The pork & sauerkraut is poured over mashed potatoes but it is mostly mashed potatoes and needs more sauerkraut. The chicken & rice soup had a lot of potatoes in it and not a lot of rice or chicken. There are a lot of other things that are so good, thats why we we keep coming back.

Very nice and accommodating staff..went twice for breakfast and dinner they take ur order fast and I didnt have to wait long at all for anything not to mention the food was delicious for just a diner 👌🏽

Loved this diner. There is plenty of room for everyone The prices were very reasonable, food was delicious and the service was wonderful. We will definitely visit again when in Hagerstown. It will no doubt be our go to.

After I ordered breakfast, I noticed an ant on my table, then two on my arm and several on the seat. I got right up and told the hostess who didnts seem concerned but moved me to a different table. The waitress then came over and said you cant leave. I put your order in. I told her about the ants, and she said kids make a mess. What can we do? I didnt say this to her, but maybe they could clean more thoroughly.It went downhill from there. When the order arrived, 25 minutes later, the waitress banged the dishes down on the table and started to walk away. When I asked her for another napkin, when she got a chance, she said cant you see I have a tray in my hands?The food was ok, but I will never come here again. No one apologized for my experience with the ants, in fact, they responded with rudeness.

Our waitress was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. I dont eat eggs so she brought me the lunch menu even though they were only serving breakfast. The hamburger I had was very tender. The everything omelette my husband had was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaraunt.

This place is doubtless one of the best restaurants in the area. Every time I visit this place I am very happy. They preserve their very high level service and the highest level of food they serve. You surely will enjoy this this restaurant. Very recommended.

True heart filling fair...Although for even the sweet tooth, their breakfast has too much sweet layers, better to have the toppings in side dishes for personal preference.

My family of five dined at Hagerstown Family Diner on 716/2021. Huubby ordered med/rare steak, it came out well done & huge layer of fat on the outer edge. The clam chowder was mostly potatoes, i ordered the seafood platter & the shrimp were like rubber. My granddaughters had a good time pointing out all the flaws in our dining area. Filthy carpeting, water marks on the ceiling, ripped seating & dust on the ceiling fans. I noticed the rodent trap however didn’t want to point that out to the kids. The menus were sticky & so was my dinnerware that did not match. Chipped & cracked plates & bowls. The place needs a real serious makeover before i step foot in that place again.

This place is very very clean and nice. So clean you can smell the cleanliness. Beautiful place. Waitress was super nice. The food was not so good. I ordered the hot turkey and French fries gravy on everything. The gravy sweet sauce stuff they used as turkey gravy was absolutely gross. Tastes like a sweet milky cheese sauce. I have worked in food service for 13 years and that sauce was the worst I have ever eaten. I didnt complain and I did pay my meal. I also tipped well. I guess it was just not the day to eat there. I probably will never return. I do however live almost 2 hours away.

I ordered the Broiled Seafood platter. Shrimp was over cooked. Couldnt even chew it, scallops were tasteless, crab cake was ok on one side, the other side all shell, side dishes dry instant mashed potatoes Service was horrible. I tried to speak to a manager, unavailable, cashier gave me 20 percent off my bill...what a joke...terrible

Food was good, reasonably priced, staff was friendly. The desserts are good, we had the lemon meringue pie and coconut cake.

They have new cooks, that dont know what they are cooking, and dont know how to find out.They dont even how to cook eggs my fluffy omelet was hard fried, till all the moisture was gone.the home fries were over boiled before frying, and not seasoned.The salad was all the bitter hearts of the lettuce.Everything at least was edible.Place looks like an old folks home

I eat breakfast every Saturday morning at the Farmers Market on W. Church St., on this Saturday Jeff and Debbies Grill was closed so I went over to the Hagerstown Family Restaurant. I had a great breakfast and the nicest little waitress that I actually gave her a bigger tip than what my breakfast cost. She was a great worker, very friendly, very helpful . Positively a 5 star establishment.

Let’s start with what this place is… it’s a diner with a big generic diner menu that is mostly ok.Two things that I strongly suggest you start clear from…1) Anything that comes with stuffing. It’s an inedible pile of goop! It doesn’t resemble stuffing in any meaningful way. I told our server that it wasn’t edible and he merely took my plate away from me “to get it out of my way”… full disclosure, the turkey was ok… it wasn’t dry and it tasted fine. I’m sure our server meant well (and he was very nice), but it never entered his mind to ask if I wanted something different or if there was anything they could do to make it better. I talked to the manager about it while I was paying, but he didn’t seem to care about it either.2) Do NOT order a steak here! They don’t get very good cuts of meat and the cooks don’t know how to prepare them either. …just don’t, unless you like chewy steaks.In general, it’s ok if you need something later at night, but you’re better off going to Denny’s or Waffle House.

Food was good. Service was about average. Asked for a kids menu and was told its only for children 10 and under. Im sorry but I have a special needs child who is 12 and doesnt understand that he cant have a kids menu. Had to order something for him to eat in which he didnt touch. Server asked how the food was, in which we replied is good. She commented to my son you dont like it? He said no, then I asked what is on the kids menu (thinking we could possibly get him something) she huffed and went to look for a kids menu. When she returned she stated that they didnt have any printed (ours were plastic regular menus) and had to think about what was on it and rambled a couple things off. My son wasnt happy and didnt want anything that she had said. When she asked if we were going to have desert we said no thank you. Again this didnt seem to please her. Sadly my son wouldve been happier with McDonalds.

This restaurant is mine and my husbands normal go to spot when we go out. We especially like the breakfast, but the other options are good as well. The serving sizes are huge and the staff are very friendly.

This is a good diner, I just dont get why the ribs is served by itself, no sides. I ordered the liver, it was very good. The beef and vegetable soup was good also.

It Was great will def go back had the greek gyro and fries and also got the cottage cheese and a order of loaded potato skins it.... Oh and the waiter had an awesome personality and made the whole experience even better....

My daughter-in-law and granddaughter flew in to Hagerstown early Friday morning from FL and they were starving. We had seen the diner when we shopped in the area before and decided to give it a try. After all, who doesnt love a diner! We were happy with our choice. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. We will come back again for sure.

Went for a breakfast with retirees and employees from USW local at the cement plant. The folks at Family Diner were very accommodating. Enjoyed the fellowship and the restaurant!

Good food, reasonably priced. I had some breakfast food. The portions are very generous! The server was polite, and answered all of our questions. We had a longer than usual wait, but it wasnt ridiculous. The atmosphere has a night club vibe, which is strange for a diner. All in all, we were highly satisfied with the meal, the price, and the service. We plan on coming back.

My daughter and friend ( sister) had lunch there today and our waitress was great, polite, respectful and prompt. I had liver and onions ( havent had in a long time) meat was done and soft. I would recommend this place to everyone!! Hope to eat there again soon!!

Was very good as always. Friendly Staff waiter was very nice, and was asking several times if we needed anything, and was every thing okay.My brother and I stop almost every month on my way to my Drs APPOINTMENT, and sometimes my brother goes there when hes off by his self. I think the breakfast we get is a very good affordable price for plp like I on a fixed income, not by choice, but sometimes in our life illness happen we have no control of it, just to be glad, god gave us another day. I also think always today was a waiter, very fast with getting our food to us less than ten mins, and every time we have a waitress she is very nice and fast always and friendley as the waiter was to day, so who ever is doing the cooking is very fast, and its very good. I would recommend. the hagerstown Diner to all who has never been there. Good food, good service, and great people.

Stopped going here 3 years ago because of the nasty hostess. Based on recent reviews, it seems she is still there. She lied to the manager when we complained, and lied to our server to turn her against us. We believe the server never received our tip. Rip!

Im hoping they were kust having a bad morning. But the food was horrible the service was preoccupied. And the restaurant just looked dingy and unkempt.
