So I get a flat at a job site on my truck, I drove to a place called P (well keep it nameless), but they couldnt help me on my emergency, I went to P (another P, keeping it nameless), but they cant help either. I drove around again with the flat and Davey from this shop and Shelby, welcome me in;they understood it was an emergency in need of immediately fix. I greatly appreciate it the emergency response, the other shops were nice but you may want to call them for an appointment, emergency doesnt typically apply. Thank you Davey, good luck with your recovery from the motorcycle accident. Youve been great, appreciate the help!!
I bought what turned out to be a lemon from a private person. When I took it to HMB Auto Repair, Davey masterfully figured what the problem was, and then hunted down a replacement part (computer/control board) that is a common as Plutonium, from a company in a far, far away land. He got the part, but not with the software, which no one has because the car is a dinosaur; now a perfect paper-weight for the Jolly Green Giant. What you need to know about Davey is that he put hours and hours of time into drilling down into the diagnostics to figure it out. He could have charged me for this, but he didnt, because this man has integrity. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM - HARD TO FIND PEOPLE LIKE THEM WHOM YOU CAN TRULY TRUST. I would not hesitate to use them again. Thanks Davey! Yvonne
Customer satisfaction is number one for them for sure!
Did great work fixing another repair shops bad work.
This place is great and 1/3 the cost of a dealership.
Great service! Not only did they do repairs that I brought my car in for, but used the extra paint to fix another spot on my car that had some paint damage, without charging extra! My car was clean, smelled, and looked like new! I never leave reviews, but I highly recommend Half Moon Bay Auto Repair!
This place as proven time and time again to be a money suck as well as a time suck. Every time I bring my car here for one thing that should be a quick fix it turns in to a multi day dance of oh while fixing that we found... The customer service is B+ and makes it hard for one snap on them for upselling you every chance they get.I have found it might be better to just re tow your car to anywhere else in town. For convenience of getting your car back within the week and not paying a ton for the labor charges they decided your vehicle needed. When your problem is a simple fix of just having the car start.*car is a 82 el Camino for reference on how basic each fix should be**edit hours later to one star because i was given my car back with a broken ignition switch and now can only be turned off and on with needle nose plier. Lol and some how free of charge for making my car worse....nice.* I still have no idea how you fix the small problem and in turn destroy the way a car normally turns on and off*another edit: while taking apart my car for no reason and destroying the key ignition they somehow managed to disconnect my headlights. Amazing, how?? . Im so offended at this shop and their business practicesJust got kicked out of this shop for my yelp review on 3/6/17 and the owner refused to fix what his employees broke. I even called ahead saying I will drop off and expect the things to work like before. Because why would I need headlights and the ability to start my car with the keys and not pliers also heres a photo of me being refused service
These mechanics keep my Jeep running top-notch and stand behind their work. Quality work. Quality customer service. Thumbs up!
Dave is friendly and honest. Needed work done. He fixed with the time frame. Made sure all the levels were good. Great honest work. . Had cookies to eat.
Great service, friendly staff. At one of the beach parking on highway 1, our car hit a pot hole. We turned around and found Half Moon Bay Auto Repair. When we called, Christine gave us great direction and actually came out to lead us in.While they have a busy day, they fixed our car immediately. And we are on our way in no time. If there is a way to rate the more than 5 stars, I will.Highly recommended.
Great guys and gals. very home style feel
I hate to give less than a great review but I also want be upfront. Im not very handy, especially when comes to anything automotive. I called the location and asked if I could come in for a break light. After was replaced I asked how much, I had a $20 in my hand and the woman behind the counter said $20 will cover it. I paid and left. I had asked about a front brake job and she said around $600. I called a couple other brake places with estimates closer to $400. I wont go back.
I love Half Moon Bay Auto Repair (HMBAR)!!!It would be hard to overstate the quality of HMBAR’s employees, Jessica, specifically. On a Saturday, my car broke down. I am not from SF and was borrowing a friends car. Naturally, I felt high levels of stress, which continued to build as I realized all the mechanics were closed. Nonetheless, I decided to walk to HMBAR and found Jessica there cleaning. Despite them being closed, Jessica agreed to come and give my car a look. She was able to diagnose the problem and cal personal contacts to help me get a tow. I cannot thank her enough. To the owner to HMBAR, thank you for hiring such high quality people. Jessica is an employee that reflects very well on your company.Best,Tanner
I had brought my truck to this shop for an oil change and some body work. I had the oil change done and they did a great job. Last Friday I called back to see about getting the truck back in for the body work. Jessica told me that Dave stepped out of the shop for something and would be back shortly. I was told that they would call me back, here it is now Monday still have not heard anything. I guess that they either dont want the work or they dont need it. A simple call back and honesty would have been appreciated. Needless to say I am going to take my truck elsewhere. Its really to bad, it looked like they did good body work. But it seems like many places I go the customer service has gone down the toilet.
Dave helped me out New Years morning on his day off. Good guy. Great service.
Totally awesome 👌 5 stars!
Excellent service on a few of our vehicles. Prices were competitive and fair. This might be my new auto shop.
Friendly Service, reliable and did a fantastic job on our car.
Courteous family owned business. Very fair pricing especially as they knew I was a bit in a pickle. They went above and beyond and I appreciate them for it.
Excellent service on a few of our vehicles. Prices were competitive and fair. This might be my new auto shop.
Great service! Always helpful.
Great service, friendly folks, trustworthy services. 5 stars!
Nicest staff, knowledgeable mechanics, and honest prices make this our go to location for auto repair. We take all of our cars to this team.
Well replacing my back windshield they disconnected the motor that opens the trunk and refused to reconnect it hence my trunk is currently unusable. There is plenty of broken glass in the arm that raises the trunk that they although charge me to clean the glass out of the car refused to remove. I’ve heard from a few other friends that this is not a good place to go since last week unfortunately
Expensive, not worth it. Had them replace an alternator, it only lasted a year. I feel I was overcharged. I later did the same job myself took me
My family of 6 was here visiting from Las Vegas with our RV in tow. On this particular day, we were on our way out of town and delaying travel plans further was almost impossible. We had originally planned on going to another repair shop and the tow guy suggested this place so we came here instead and Im so glad we did. I cant express my gratitude enough to the Dave and staff here. They did everything they could to get us out of there as quickly as possible. Everyone is so friendly here. Prices were reasonable. Really wish this place was in Vegas because I would definitely come back for future services. Highly recommended! Thank you so much for all your help!!!*One more thing: They let our 4 kids watch cartoons, had toys for them to play with, and gave them snacks (hot chocolate and cookies). However, kids can get restless. There is a McDonalds with a playplace within walking distance (as well as a Starbucks, CVS, and Safeway).
Came to half moon bay for the weekend. There are no auto shops open here on weekends. We had a screw in our tire and it was going down fast. I happen drive around back, long story short he hooked me up for $20 and saved our lil vaca. Thanks to the owner and Jose. Nice people
On the road traveling through HMB - had an issue with our new Highlander - found this shop on a locals recommendation. The owners son (didnt catch his name) dropped everything and fixed our car and I was back on the road in 30 mins. Great service. Plus he didnt gouge me for being in a desperate situation which is rare these days. Thank you!
I have been needing to get my trucks check engine light fixed for a while. Like everybody else in the world I work for a living, I know its going to take some time to diagnose & repair, so I waited till I could drop it off & I knew I wasnt going to need it that day. I am an Electrician & work out of my truck so that just adds to the difficulty of getting this work done. Suffice it to say, I finally get a clear day. I take it in, & tell them, I had a code for them that I got from a reader that you can borrow from auto parts store. Then they boasted, oh no, we would rather do our own diagnostic, we have this $10k machine that zeroes in on exact problem, so we can get it fixed right the 1st time. Please remember that last sentence as I continue. So they give me an estimate to replace 2 ignition coils, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs & spark plug wires. I told them I allready had spark plugs & wires done. (As professional mechanics, how do they not know this?). I tell them to go ahead & replace coils. Then they come back to me & say oh, we are saving you some money because ignition coils cover two cilinders, you only need one. Shouldnt they have known that from the very begining? I pick up car at end of day. As I am driving home, check engine light comes back on.....Do you remember sentence I told you to remember above?? Anyways, as I said before, I am really busy, blah blah, but I get off early one day & race it down to get it rechecked. They basically put up their hands & shrugged & said they couldnt figure it out. This is after I spent $560 the day I took the whole day off to get this fixed. Do you also remember the bold statement, we have a $10k machine that zeroes in on exact problem so we get it fixed right the 1st time.? So they basically told me to just bring it in when I can & leave it all day, AGAIN very nonchalantly. Really?? Thats why I dropped it off that 1st day all day!!! So it comes down to this. If you want to get your time & money wasted, then by all means, go to Half Moon Bay Auto Repair, otherwise, go somewhere else.As a side note. Being a licenced fully trained Electrician, I cannot fathom going to a customers home or business, troubleshooting a problem. Tell the customer the problem is X & its going to cost this much. Then have the customer call me & say the problem still exists. I personally would feel embarrased professionally that I didnt fix it the 1st time, but never mind that, if that were to ever happen, I would go out of my way to make it right. I wouldnt shrug my shoulders & put my hands up in the air & tell the customer for instance, im really busy, ill get to you when I can. But thats just me I guess. I put customers 1st.
Awesome folks, great attention to detail, latest tech, super certified master mechanics. A+.
