WONDERFUL! skip the obby-obby the staff here is so helpful and pickup order was a breeze! Will be back and will recommend. Huge selection of yarn they had exactly everything I needed! Did I mention staff was fantastic?! Dont miss this store for yarn crochet framing knitting fabric silk flowers candles beads and everything kids crafts art beanie babies beanie-boos and all things craft related. Seems like the kind of place that would help you over the phone too! Thanks so much I can get back to my crochet project now!!

I love this store, I go here for all my crafting needs. The staff is helpful and friendly. I especially love the people at the cutting table since theyre always so friendly and helpful and always ask me what Im making with the cloth!

The staff at this Joanns is really nice and so helpful. Ill come here all day because of their staff. They helped me with coupons, opinions on some big ticket items I purchased, and always are happy to help me. I even do pick up orders sometimes and they make sure to take care of me so fast. The only down side Ive experienced here is they dont seem to restock as quickly or their selection of certain things can be sparse. The sales are amazing tho and the staff is excellent. Their order online and pick up in store works great too.

Ran inside to get some quick supplies for Halloween party and then up coming across our awesome Halloween theme idea book that I can play lots of games and do different ideas and decorating techniques like do-it-yourself ideas for the party so I decided to snatch it up along with a little fabric to make a pumpkin into a ghost

This is the perfect place to learn or continue arts and crafts projects. The prices are very reasonable, lines arent long, and staff is very friendly. The store is fairly large with options to do just about any hobby youre looking in to. Its convenient location is easy access to route 15, and there is more than enough parking. Go give it a try. You wont be disappointed.

I never come here with my wife. I know better than that, because I would be one of those husbands to spell help messages after a few hours. Go in, buy the gift card, run out. I hear she likes what they have tho, so its cool.That said, I gave this four stars because they are generous enough to sponsor Girl Scout Cookie booths and even sported some bags for the troop to use when my wife sent me in to ask for them. So they get bonus points for community support and generosity.

The staff is friendly and they sell all kinds of cool stuff. The prices are affordable, It quick service and you will be in and out in a minute. The store is very clean and their is a lot of the parking.

Good selection and some of the staff are really helpful, others not so much. If your sewing machine is anything other than a newer singer dont bother to look for parts here. Also the prices are ridiculous and force you to use their app for coupons. On a purchase of $140 the app took $50 off. This seems great until you realize its just because the prices are inflated to account for this.

Always find something here either for the home or some fun kind of craft. Good sales and great holiday decorations! Inspires one to do a craft when you go there it doesnt have to be difficult.

Very nice customer service and plenty of sewing notions in stock! My only criticism is that a couple sections of the fabric were in disarray but overall a really nice layout for the store and a pleasant experience.

I went there to buy some pencils and pens for drawing and they were really hard to find, but a employee was really helpful and wouldnt stop looking until she finally found them. That was really nice of her.

The selection of fabric and sewing/crafting supplies here is great! I love that theres a dedicated table for browsing pattern catalogues, as I use that quite frequently. The staff are really nice too! Some of the fabric and supplies (especially the ones specially geared toward cosplayers) can be really expensive, but the JoAnn app often has coupons that can help mitigate the price.

Great selection of fabric or yarn for any fiber arts project, but a very small selection of acrylic/oil/watercolor paints. Decent prices, along with coupons offered in their app can get you some pretty good deals.

Great sales good customer service

This happens at every location but this was definitely my last visit anywhere. There are no staff anywhere when you need to find something. So after five minutes of trying to find someone, they vaguely point in the general direction of what you need, all the while acting annoyed you bothered them. Female employees were all congregated at the fabric cutting station gossipping and talking about customers. I felt scared to interrupt them with a question. And this is the exact thing I experience in every single store. I know they are understaffed and overworked because I have a friend who works there. People are paid the very bare minimum and it truly shows. Ill be going to Michaels from now on.

The workers there a very friendly and very knowledgeable of their store if you ask for something they try to help you find it theyre very friendly

Items not properly organized or priced. Sale signs not posted. I purchased an item I found out was $23.00 when I got to the register bc the bin was not marked. After waiting in line for almost 10 minutes I purchased it. I needed another for my project, and went to the Enfield location the same day. Store is perfectly organized with prices and sale notices. Found out the item I purchased was buy one, get one free! It would have been nice if the cashier was aware of what was on sale and told me I could grab a second one for free. When I told the clerk in Enfield, she said I would have to return to the store in Hamden with my issue. Sad.

It has great selections and the store is nice although the staff who was cutting the fabric was rude.

Went here to find snap buttons. The selection is much bigger than the clinton store which is closer to me. The cashiers are nice but the man at the cutting table came off as overwhelmed, grumpy and rude. It was Labor Day and I saw only him there and no one else helping. Even the other cutter who popped in was rude. Maybe the Waterford location will be more pleasant.

Never been to a Joann fabric store before and my first experience was absolutely horrible. SUSAN the lady at the fabric cutting station, needs to be fired. Extremely rude to customers including myself. She’s absolutely miserable and will never step foot again at any Joann Fabrics. Michaels is so much better. Don’t have to deal with attitudes.

Coupons are everything even on top of sales

You can find just about anything you need at this place. However, they could improve on the customer relations.

I have shopped at Jo-Ann Fabrics in Hamden, CT a lot. I usually dont require help from the staff, but today I did, and I was overwhelmed by how unhelpful and rude the staff was to me.I was buying some foam cushioning and fabric to make a window seat cover as a birthday present for my best friends daughter. I assumed I could have the foam cut to the dimensions I needed. I was told by an annoyed employee at the cutting counter that she could only cut the length, but not the width. I asked if I could cut the foam at home with scissors. She said no.I (very nicely) asked to speak to a manager, as I wanted to buy the foam, but just wasn’t sure what to do if I couldn’t get it to the size I needed there and couldn’t cut it, myself, at home. I thought there must be a solution. The manager was, at least, able to tell me that they use an electric carving knife. I have one of these at home – great! However, she met me with a scowl, although I met her with a smile and she treated me like the enemy the whole time, rather than as a nice customer who was spending $40 on a small bit of foam, plus more on fabric, and just didn’t know how to go about making the project work, as she’d never done it before. The reason the manager gave me for not being able to cut the foam’s width was that it would take too much time. There was no one behind me in line.Meanwhile, the first cutter had gone on to help another customer, and another employee came along to cut my foam and fabric. When I told him how much fabric I wanted, he said, Oh, that wont be anywhere near enough! I had already measured, planned how Id cut the fabric, calculated the total, including seam allowances. I explained that I still had to cut the foam smaller and told him how I planned to cut the fabric. He still insisted I needed more. Exasperated, I said I would take however much he recommended. It turned out there wasnt even enough on the bolt for what Id originally asked for. All of a sudden, he was telling me it was enough. Knowing Id over-estimated what I actually needed, I took it. I seriously would have just given up on the project if I hadn’t already committed to doing it for my friend and discussed the fabric choice at length.To culminate the whole experience, when I walked up to the registers to pay, the two cashiers were talking and no one was behind any registers, so I wasn’t sure which register to go to. I stood there waiting to be noticed. One of them finally turned around and told me to go to register 5, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world and I was an idiot for just standing there.I think all of the employees at this store, including the managers, need some serious professional development on customer service! It may seem trivial, but being treated rudely can permanently change a persons impression of the store. As for me, I will be looking for a fabric store with better customer service for future projects.

Joann Fabrics and Crafts is a store that I like to dabble into from time-to-time; always intrigued to see what goodies Ill find...I love the Seasonal Holiday decór selection, the home decór items are sometimes surprising, love the apothecary jar selection, I miss the Paris Buttercreme Collection, good faux flower/plant selection, sewing dept. is good...Not a big selection of fabrics though. Overall the store is lovely especially for those who love art, crafts, diys, sewing, home decór, etc. honestly the only thing I dislike is the lack of customer service, its very poor and the pricing for mostly EVERYTHING is outrageously overpriced!

They have a good knitting, tailor and craft staffs but pretty limited art crafts. Some staffs are acting like primadonna, too. It is better to Go to down town New Haven art craft shop on Chapel street. Yes very pricy $$$$
