I recently purchased the Canon R6 and wanted to acquire the RF lenses. The demand was high and lenses were hard to come by, especially the RF 100-500. Camera Bar maintained a waitlist of names for this elusive lens! Well, 2 days before a trip to AZ to photography hummingbirds, I got the call that they had gotten 1 lens in, I jumped on it. Somehow, they have some pull because the lens is unobtainable at any other camera store, big box or online! Aaron and team really know their business and clearly must have great relationships with their manufacturer reps - because this was a huge score! Whenever I have a question about gear or my equipment, they are always available. Super service, top quality equipment and nice people!

I wanted to take a minute to tell you how impressed I am with this local camera shop. I had a small adjustment that needed to be made in my D5 and I was trying not to send it into Nikon because I had jobs lined up for the spring. Aaron was incredibly helpful and and patient in getting the camera adjusted same day and because of him, I could get to my 1 pm shoot stress free. He couldn’t have been any more pleasant and I will be back to pick up the Nikon 105mm to go with the D5 that was purchased there two years back. They have top quality gear for pros and hobbiest alike. It’s small stores like this that realize photography is also your business and they are excellent at helping you get get the job done. Visit them and support local.

Camera Bar helped my co-workers and I pick out the best camera and lens for our use. Taking great videos for clients was our biggest concern and Aaron helped us out every step of the way. You wont find a store like this near you. Making the trip out to Hartford is definitely worth it. I recommend the Camera Bar to anyone and make sure to ask for Aaron!

I generally dont write reviews but I felt like I had to given the experience that I had at Camera Bar yesterday. Putting it simply, 5 stars arent enough. What a great shop! Every question I had about the camera system I was thinking about was answered informatively - no sales pitch, just the answer to the question. And, when possible, I even got to see real world work that had come out of that camera in challenging conditions. They took their time with me and, in the end, I was more than confident in my purchase when I walked out the door.But theres another reason Im posting this review and thats because we need to keep going to these stores and giving them our business so they can keep serving customers, answering questions, and delivering live in-person *real* customer service. Could I have gotten a package deal for this camera online with maybe a few extras thrown in for the same price? Maybe. Honestly I didnt look because once I googled camera stores near me and found out that one actually existed (and had a fantastic review rating), there was no way I wasnt going to buy from them and not some nameless, faceless online entity with no interest in me or my community or the community of photographers in general.Camera Bar is the epitome of the importance of doing business face-to-face. Its knowledgeable people with a great selection who can help you make the best decision for your needs. Its a camera store run by photographers for the love of photography. Its what we need *more* of in this world - not less. Its why those extras in those online packages exist - to lure you away from what really matters and get you to trade your local economy and community for a few trinkets or a cheap lens filter.Buy local. Support your local camera shop. But, if youre here in *this* area, definitely swing by Camera Bar if youve got some photography needs. Youll be so happy you did.Thanks for all the help guys - I cant wait to come back in.

I called to bring a lens in and was told I can bring it in because I was planning on trading it in. I come in and was told to wait for the owner. An older white gentleman comes over and basically interrogates me about my lens as if he cant believe that its mine. After questioning me about it he says he cant take it without a receipt. Ive had the lens for a year or so and dont have the receipt. I was looking to trade it in and spend money there. I can tell when I am being profiled and he gave me a very uncomfortable feeling. Im glad he didnt take my lens and Im glad I took my business elsewhere.

The guy didn’t even let me see the lens I was asking about, he had it in his hands, and didn’t want to open it.

Never had a problem with film development and theyre always super quick. Within 48hours every time Ive dropped film off. The price is reasonable too

An old school feel with many older items on display when you walk in. The assistant was very knowledgeable about an old lens issue and had good advice about matching up a large lens with a recent camera. We felt well informed and were happy we visited. Note this store is not for the beginner/ casual photographer - but they mentioned they can do 1 on 1 tutoring by the hour.

Asked if they had an XQD reader available - they responded within 5 minutes. Good price on a vital item that no other store in the region had. And they develop film in-house! Skip the big box stores. Go here.

Very knowledgeable staff. Its nice to be able to go to a real camera store, and ask questions in person to somebody who knows and understands the product. I was able to bring in several of my lenses and try them on a camera body before I made the purchase. They have a lot of gear available, for all abilities from the beginner to the seasoned Pro.

I stopped in to replace a lost lens cap while visiting from out of town. I was totally impressed with how friendly and helpful these guys were. So impressed that this was the place I decided to purchase some additional lens filters I had been meaning to buy. While searching for a place to have dinner on Sunday night during my visit to Hartford; I found Camera Bar, and decided to go back the next day.To my surprise, I found they carry latest camera models as well as accessories at market prices. I decided to purchase a wide angle lens, filter and mono pod I was ready to order from a large mail order store in NY. Kudos to this small store for their friendly and knowledgeable staff and I hope they stay in business for a long time!

They have a good collection of old cameras and new ones. I was actually doing some street shooting with my X100f and ran into this place while walking around.I really wanted to like the place but I got the impression that security was a higher priority to them then selling me a camera. The camera I was allowed to hold was monitored like a hawk. Was not allowed to put my SD card in the camera for testing. Im really not sure what impression I gave them but it mustve not been a real good one. I step into camera shops all the time but this one was the most restrictive one Ive been in. Sorry Camera Bar, I hope it was just a bad day for you guys and you lighten up a bit for your local clientele.I really believe in the local camera shop.
