This diner is a gem! Clean wholesome tasty food of yesterday mom and son operated and owned from 40 plus years. Im tired of new gen cafés its for the birds. They give you alot of great food. I live in Queens and I was passing by and I wish it was closer cause the food in NYC sucks!!!! I would give 10000 stars.

A SERIOUS surprise. Did not expect this diner to be anywhere near as good as it was, but everything from food to people was tremendous. Do not let the look fool you - its a bit old, its a bit run down, and its not as bright and shiny as other diners. Bendix is as authentically a diner as a diner can be. Its a little old world, a little truck stop, and a little Norman Rockwell all in one. Bendix Diner is a slice of apple pie Americana, and a definitive representation of America. God bless this place and those people who make it so.

I had the most delightful experience here! John, the owner, is a freaking sweetheart. I suffer from really bad anxiety which makes it difficult to be comfortable in most places and I felt right at home here. The food is great, the service is friendly and the diner has that old time feel thats getting harder and harder to find these days. 10 out of 10 stars. Im definitely going to be a repeat customer.

This is a true vintage diner. Even the stuff that should be replaced hasnt been - so when you come here, dont expect something thats been modernized throughout the years. It can be polarizing - some might look at the old napkin holders, ripped seats, and (apparent) lack of A/C as a bad thing, but I think it just adds to the places authenticity.Over 60 years ago, my grandfather ate here. He passed before I was born but he was a long-haul trucker. Sitting here, I could almost see him sitting at a booth having a meal. The food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly. But, come here knowing what Ive written above, and I think youll find yourself taking a pleasant trip into the past just as I did.

The place has that cozy old diner feel to it but could definitely benefit from some cleaning. The staff was very friendly and sweet. Although there was a young boy and a small child serving the tables and bringing out food. I ordered the fried shrimp which was delicious and for $15, which I thought was a little pricey at first, I actually got several large fried shrimp. My coffee was a little weak though. My dad got a milkshake and they give you a little extra in the tin which is always nice. Food came out pretty quick. The owner was very nice and was asking us about the giants vs jet game we had just came back from. I would definitely come back to try breakfast since we stopped in for a late night meal after the football game.

I dont mind that its old looking, I mind that its not clean. The windows need to be cleaned, the stuff on the tables need to be bought new, the floor has to be washed, the plants need to be thrown out cause they are half dead. I lived the food and the people, and the coffee is amazing!! But, if you cleaned up the place, painted a little, spruced it up a bit, you would have 10 times the business there. Close up one day and clean up the whole place. Go to the dollar store and puck out nice things. I promise you, your business would thrive. It looks a dive now, but with a little soap and imagination, you would double your clientele. Think about it. We like to eat good food, but we like nice surroundings also. Try it.

This restaurant on the outside looks like the authentic American diner that is metal and has the big red sign with the diners name on it plus little lines of blue and red lights. The restaurant is run by a man who is most likely blind and the food is cooked by his son. The food is actually pretty large and decent tasting, and is good for a little bite to eat. One thing that was annoying was the only people in the diner at the moment were a couple of friends of the owner and they were talking politics, which was not something I wanted to hear during my dinner. They were quite loud and it started to be a nuisance. Overall, you could say that this restaurant is pretty decent, but nothing more.
