Had a problem last week and was stressed Out with a bad leak in my basement . I don’t know anything about plumbing. So I called Hirsch and a man I believe named Basil came by and was so nice and professional, he changed a few things and refused a tip. He even bailed my make shift water buckets. I get low balls now and then from Petro and such but I’m so glad I always stick with Hirsch. They’re the best! It’s not always about the money . I rarely need service but when I do I need it fast. Came to my house twice within a couple of days for the same problem and charged twice for the same thing.... Each visit they were there for 5 mins max... Told us the problem was the thermostat got that replaced and no changes. I went outside and figured out the fan wasnt coming on and call them up and this time they said I needed a new fan... Then charge me once more poor business ethics.

Hirsch Fuels solved my in-laws issue with their boiler after a competitor told them it needed to be replaced and was unrepairable. Their techs are seasoned and the best in the business when it comes to diagnosing and repairing issues with heating systems. They kept my in-laws from freezing in the dead of winter and having to replace their boiler prematurely which would have cost them thousands of dollars. It’s nice to deal with an honest, fair and dependable company for a change- they care and are trustworthy. There is good reason they have been around for so many years. So thankful for their service.

I was in a 2 year auto fill contract. Noticed by chance Saturday morning oil tank float was at 0. Called dispatcher, he said he couldn’t do anything today but promised to have a delivery done Sunday or Monday the latest. Explained I was going away overnight and was worried about losing heat and hot water, he assured me not to worry and we would get filled. Returned from trip Monday afternoon, still no delivery. Called and spoke to oil delivery manager, extremely rude and condescending man. Told me might be able to get to me Tuesday sometime. Refused to send service man with a 10 gal fill to hold me over and was unwilling to resolve issue. Glad my contract is over, you’re going to be unhappy with their rude and unreliable service. STAY AWAY!

I recently had a routine service completed on my furnace. Hirsch fuels installed the furnace way back in 1988. I asked the service technician performing the maintenance whether or not there were signs that my 30+ year old unit might need to be replaced soon. The service man said there are no indications that I will need to replace the furnace in the near future. Wow and thanks Hirsch Fuels, my family has enjoyed a long, safe reliable run in the warmth of our home. Its been just great.

I have been a customer for the last 2 years. I recently had my oil tank leaking because it was over 30 years old. Called at 10:00pm and they came to my house within an hour. They ended up putting a patch on the oil tank and within a week later, they came and replaced the tank. Very professional- they maintained a professional demeanor and worked was performed efficiently. Great price too!

I saw the truck came in for automatic refill today.. winter was already over, so i only used 1/4 of my tank, as i watched the pumping guy filling my tank of 225 gal for less than 1 minute and end up with a charge for 130 gallons? I dont think the math adds up correctly here.. going to look for a new provider.if you go with them, make sure to not do automatic delivery and always watch how much they put in your tank.UPDATE:They charged me 396 dollar for 130 Gallons, which is 3 dollar!! that is $1.1 dollar more than my new provider...

Terrible company. Very underhanded and deceptive. Get everything in writing, or better yet shop elsewhere. Very overpriced.

Hirsch had a amazing service and they were professional. They came to my house on time and resolved there so quickly! Props to them for doing an amazing job and I want to definitely share my positive experience!

5 week wait for non emergency service because of “what’s going on”. But they had no problem throwing in my face the $600 balance regardless of “whats going on” without asking me if I was able to pay because of “what’s going on”. Have never carried a balance for more than a month while with them.The first day I paid them in person at the office I knew I made a mistake. You get what you pay for and that’s subpar service.Back to petro/perillo I go.

Used this company for 3 years. I was told we were in a fixed price contract and I figured out (when I called them for oil) that we were not. Not only were we getting overcharged per gallon but they were charging us for 200 gallons even if our tank did not need that much. How does a company not let you know your tank did not call for 200 gallons??? A company who just wants to rip off their customers. After I switched to a COD company and ordered 200 gallons, the nice man came back to my door and let me know our tank only took 186 and we saved some money. I highly recommend staying away from Hirsch fuels.

These guys are great. They have serviced both mine and my Mothers homes for years. Their prices are competitive for a full service company but their service cant be beat. They have responded to emergency calls promptly and have always fixed the problem. Last year I hired Hirsch to replace my central air conditioning system after getting two other bids. They did a great job. This year they replaced my electric hot water heater with a new indirect water heater. Their estimate was better than our plumbers and they did a great job once again. Cant say enough good things about this company.

Hirsh responded immediately to my need and supplied oil to get the burner up and running until a full delivery could be made. Very much appreciated the fast and immediate help as we were out of oil on a cold night. Thank you!

Do not use hirsch fuels, am currently in court with them regarding the variable price change and overcharging me almost double the National average after verbally speaking about extending my contract with mr. Hirsch senior, they pretend it never happened but they offered me a discount today. Lisa stated they could enter into contract verbally but mr hirsch didn’t Remeber. Also their service is terrible dumped gallons of fuel on my floor and screwed up the first time.

These people are ready and willing to screw over the general public. They are chasing paper, horrible company, would not recommend them to my worst enemy. I called and they gave an outlandish price and said I had to replace a whole new unit, I called another company for the same problem and it was LESS THAN A TENTH OF THE PRICE. I believe this price gouging was due to my gender and age. Im enraged.

First time writing a negative review about any company ever. They were the only oil company I have ever used since 2000. When I shared the amount we paid to friends through conversation I was always warned. They charge at least $1 more a gallon than COD. The reason I stayed was because I felt loyal and that since I was with them so long that I could expect great service if I ever needed it. That being said, paying thousands more and the yearly service charge I never took advantage of, During the biggest storm of 2015 I ran out of fuel. I called in a panic and was told that A) I needed to be home for some one in their office to put 20 gallons in and 2) they could not fill me up for two days. I was at work and could not make it home in their time frame to fix their problem. I called a COD company that came within two hours and gave me 50 gallons. Since I got an outside company to give me the oil to keep me and my family warm during a blizzard they cancelled my contract, never gave me the oil and did not reimburse me the service fee I paid for the year. All I can say is that I would never recommend any one to use this company. I realize how foolish I have been and hope this helps someone else make better choices..

What matters to me is honesty, integrity and credibility. I enter into a contact, whether it be for service or fuel oil delivery, with the expectation that both parties intend to live up to their obligations. This means that I will not engage in securing an off contract delivery from a competitor to take advantage of a short-term spot price offering, nor will I compromise my principles of fair play and honesty to save a few dollars - perhaps that is a symptom of my former military experience such that honor and integrity is a virtue to be lauded.and recognized. I truly value the Hirschs service and integrity more than seeking an immediate advantage in pricing anomalies that will always occur at some juncture. My point...Hirsch fuels has always immediately dispatched repair teams when necessary/appropriate, this includes holidays where the response to emergencies might easily be muted. Additionally, Hirsch has steadfastly maintained their credibility with respect to contract oil pricing, doggedly adhering to agreed contract pricing for the season. So, as a prior customer of two other oil service companies, Hirsch has always dealt honorably and responsibly with me and my family. I highly value that which matters - the safety and health of my family over all else. Hirsch Oil has responded admirably and I fully intend to remain a LOYAL customer.

Great Company, their prices are high but they treat you with respect. A small company that has been around for 70+ years. Its a family run business and they treat you with respect.

We used them since 2001, we didnt have much experience in oil heat since we moved to Long Island from Queens. Over the years we tried different programs they offered like capped, lock in etc. If oil was cheaper on the market, do you think they ever lowered our price? Never! We were being ripped off for over a decade. We go COD now and now save three times what we paid with Hirsch. The owner Chris is a piece of work! Dont make the same mistake I did. Want to burn your money away? Stay away from hirsch, oil outfits are a dime a dozen, this one is like a used car dealer. They dont care about you! They only want your money!

Just paid $3.59 per gallon with a cap when the street price for cash everywhere else is $2.09. only 2 more months left of my contract to go and im dumping them. this is the thanks i get after 20 years of being a loyal customer. stay away from contracts and order it online yourself and save a bundle. I calculated that my savings would have been over $1500 for the year without a contract. that could have been a vacation for my wife and i.

Ive used Hirsch for 20+ years and yes their oil prices are high but service has always been free as long as you are on budget payments. Theyve always been fast and friendly whenever Ive had a problem. In fact I just ran out of oil and they had someone here within an hour. So for me the trade off is higher price but fast service and free service for the heating system.

I was their customer for more than 5 years. This was my first oil company for my first home. Knew nothing about their deceptive ways I opted for the option that gave me a range of oil price and I was told that if the oil price goes down Ill get the best rate. Guess what, even when the oil hit rock bottom I was paying the maximum amount possible which was 40-50 cents/gallon higher than the average rate. When I used to call them about this they always come up with the same execuse that on that particular day the price went up. Please stay away 40 to 50 cents a gallon difference is a lot. Never opt for their rate range plan and do much research before committing to their fixed plan.

As sleek as sleaze as the oil they sell. Customer service is atrocious. Oil is overpriced. Dont find out for yourself.

My fixed rate contract with Hirsch ends at the end of this month after being a loyal customer for 9+ years. A year ago I agreed to a fixed rate thinking it was a capped rate based on a conversation with the sales associate the day before. My mistake. So after calling to inform them that I would not be continuing service I received several phone calls from them trying to figure out what they had done wrong. With every conversation, came the fact that they had done nothing wrong, but offered nothing to make me, the customer, happy either. While in conversation, the representative did not like the negative review I left here, claimed he has disputed and had 98% of them removed and called it slander. Then asked how I would like it if he went out and wrote about how I bounced a check for payment. This type of customer service (insults were really all they were) solidified for me that Hirsch is not for me.

POOR !!! This is by far the WORST company I have ever dealt with. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor all the time. They are rude and hang up on you. I have never left a review before but I feel that other plp should know what a bad service this company gives. To deliver oil, you will probably have to call them 4-5 times, you cannont pay online and they never call you back about any inquiry. Last delivery she said that when the truck comes around my neighborhood they will deliver.

So I am reading all of these reviews just because I have to call them for something and sounds like sour grapes, some entered locks and price changed, hey that could have gone either way.....get things in writing and read the contract first.....I did the math over a 13 year period, sometimes they came out ahead in any given year, others I did, it avgs out. They do respond quickly if needed. Their prices are almost always at the NYSERDA avg for long island, not best not worst. The one year I went with street price and no contract I called and they adjusted, hey we all want the best price everytime...how dare they not auto matically call us everytime, so negotiate for your own prices, call them up and make your case, if unhappy just switch. Oil is a commodity, they as all of them do bank and gamble as we do, sometimes they win sometimes we win, switch to gas if you do not want to partake in the annual dance to set an oil price. Locked in this year when barrels at 50 gallon watched it got to 31 could have found lower perhaps, but still a pretty good sub $2 price and bottom line monthly cost is well within budget so you cnnot always get the best price all the time. If oil goes to 75 a barrel btr for me, I once had 1.32. lock rate when oil sky rocketed to near 3 bucks, win some lose some get over it, stop whining and go get a better price, but their service has been above avg and on the phone an admission, yes, others may have btr pricing at times, they dont advertise as lowest price, check the stats, they are usually on the monthly long island posted nyserda avg price

My recommendation is to stay far, far way from Hirsch. I used their service for years, mainly out of inertia. However, when the price of oil recently dropped by half and they were still charging me over $4 per gallon for a delivery I called them. I was then informed that their prices had just dropped and they would adjust my bill to $3.79 per gallon (of course I had to call to make this happen). This incident finally forced me to look at other options and I found a competitor who had received nothing but good reviews online and was charging $2.29 per gallon! After calling Hirsch to cancel my service I was informed I would have to speak to another woman and that my service would not be cancelled until she called me back, and in the interim another $3.79 per gallon delivery showed up that same day. Since she did not call me I called her back later that same day and she miraculously offered to drop my price to $2.59, still not close to that which their competitor was offering. She then informed me that if I moved away from them I would be missing their great service, another joke and another long story, but I will end by reiterating my recommendation to stay as far away from these people as possible.

I get flyers every week, and when I decided to see the prices on the website. Cannot trust a vendor which dont show price for products.
