Each time I’ve attempted to shop in here the service is terrible. Not once have they greeted me or even ask to see if I needed help with anything.

This is the first time Ive been here since theyve become super mainstream (about 11 years) for a bathing suit because I had a bathing suit from them years ago that was the best one Ive ever had, and its now very vanilla basic. I wont be going here again. Its too bad, Im disappointed with how boring their bathing suits and clothing are now. But its good for those that like Hollister and Abercrombie!

Im a huge fan of Stance Socks and Electric sunglasses and apparel. Moving here from SoCal, the birthplace of board shops, I asked around and was told Tillys was THE place to BE and PacSun was so-so. As usual, they had it backwards.A month ago, I came to the Galleria to check out both stores. Leaving shortly after arriving, my impression of Tillys was cold, impersonal, and corporate—things surf, skate, and snowboarders alike dislike. Inside, I felt like a fish out of water, even rockin an Electric t-shirt and some seriously hip Stance socks. They alternated between following me like I was a sock-lifter and ignoring me .They were more than less-than-helpful. Their Electric collection leaves MUCH to be desired. And no one I asked seemed to know that Electric even made apparel..My stop at PacSun, on the other hand, was the highlight of my evening. Listening to my music while browsing slowly from the front to the back of the store, Rey saw me with my headphones and instead of interrupting my flow, quietly let me know he was there to help if needed. He saw my Stance socks and mentioned they had them, which ended my browsing immediately. PacSuns Stance selection was far superior to that of the other place and they carried similarly flavored socks from a number of other makers. We chatted off and on as he helped other patrons. He not only knew about my favorite brands, but also suggested others he found similar not only in style, but attitude as well. Rey was what those working at Tillys should aspire to be as a sales associate—knowledgeable of the product—not just a body filling a sales slot eight hours a day. There was no hard sell as we spoke. He came across as genuine, upbeat, friendly, and polite—even with a pest like me.Im back again today as it had been less than good. Even just looking at Stance socks lifts my spirits. I passed by Tillys on my way and once again was in and out within minutes. One distracted salesperson came to ask if I needed help as I stood in front of the sunglass case, then she turned away before I could say anything. Looking again at Tillys anemic collection of Electric shades, I hopped on the board in my mind and aimed it toward PacSun.I hoped Rey would be working and I saw him before I hit the door. He remembered me on sight and our conversation began where it left off a month ago. Hearing how my day had been, he took me away from where I had posted up seeking solace in front of the Stance rack and showed me a bin full of rockin socks with a buy one get two free sign on it. I know theres some Stance in there, he said as he dug in and pulled out a pair like he owned, telling me he had lost one but could make it work with singles from other pairs. Whether I left with any socks or not, the fact that he remembered me and our previous conversation, coupled with his next action guaranteed I was leaving in a better state of mind. After hearing about my day, he didnt just let me wallow in my safe place nor did he try to sell me something quick and get me on my way, but instead led me to the best deal in the place where I stayed untii minutes AFTER closing time. He didnt hover or pressure me but let me be to search through the bin at my pace. He would swing by occasionally and he answered every question I had. He made it clear once again how customer-oriented a sales associate should be.And it was the same with other associates as well. Sydney and Matt may not have the same proclivity for socks (or maybe they do and I dont know as they too let me be), but they were equally upbeat, friendly, and polite. Their style is a big reason I will be back tomorrow—that and the fact that my eyes are always bigger than my sock budget and Im terrible at putting down those I cant afford at present. For all these reasons I highly recommend PacSun Galleria and would like to thank Rey for his hospitality. If the powers-that-be see this, give that man a raise and a promotion.
