Its not the cheapest place to have work done, but it is the best in the area in my own experience. They know me by name, and know my cars well. The mechanics are top-notch, the customer service is consistently stellar, and the pricing is fair, although not inexpensive. I take all 3 of our vehicles there for things I cant (or dont want to) do myself.

My husband and I have been going to General Auto for over 10 years. They fix your vehicle and guarantee their work. They do not over sell things you dont need and make sure you are good to go and have a safe ride. I cant speak highly enough of this shop. They are always kind and helpful and down to earth. Bryon and Jeff go the extra mile to help diagnose your problem.

Folks!! These guys Jeff and Brian run this buisness like it should be run, they are professional and honest and dependable . Prices are high for labor like most shops in and around hendersonville nc. are which makes things really tough for people on social security or other low incomes which is not really their fault but they could at least be more affordable for older citizens who cant afford paying a $100 an hour or higher for the labor.

Took my truck there for new tires back in 2018 and everything went well. Other than adjustment with the wheel alignment which they/Bryon took care of. But when I took my truck back after 35k on a 70k mile warranty I have no assistance. I had to take my truck there twice to see if the tread was low enough for warranty. The tires were wearing badly. They took the info down and did not return back me with update. I called back after 1 month and Jeff said he would call me back the next day. Still nothing. I guess you buy $1,000 worth of tires and hope for the best.

I did not go there,they said I needed an appointment to get an estimate.

We broke down in our F250 powerstroke diesel on the 26 Freeway and were towed to General Auto Repair. They were able to work us in to their schedule and diagnosed the problem wed been struggling with for weeks with this truck! They found the root of our problem that our local mechanic had missed and even called to check in and make sure we had gotten home safely (2 1/2 hours away) after the repair was made. Thanks guys!!

I would have given five stars, but the last time I was there they told me I needed a state inspection, which I did not. So Im out that money. Other than that I have very happy with their service.

Try to charge 1125.00 to change two spark plugs tighten a hose clamp and clean injections on my sons truck I stopped them pay diagnostic fee I fixed his truck for 120.35 still runs fine 6 mouths later I dont recommend this shop

Brought Nissan in for tune up. No new wires. Just spark plugs price? $425, a tune up? Wow .Brought it home, didn’t start!! Brought it back and said it was a bad sensor? Really? Really? Felt like I was getting ripped off again from them. Total price for tune up and sensor. $ 575. Are you kidding me? Now I have a car that is dead in the driveway. Had to have it towed from there. DO NOT GO THERE. THEY WILL FIND MULTIPLE THINGS WRONG THAT WERE NOT WRONG BEFORE THEY TOUCHED IT. WASTE. JUST A WASTE!!

I just took my Xterra to General Auto Repair today for the first time. They were so helpful and by far the most honest mechanics I have encountered since having my 12 year old faithful companion. Firestone drained me of my savings account over a year ago just so I could pass inspection with a lot of unnecessary costs. Jeff was great and fixed the problem rather than making me replace anything. I will never go anywhere else while living in this area. So very thankful.

The shop told me that I had some issues with my brakes that wasn’t even true and tried to charge me $900 for a full brake job that didn’t even need to be done. I also had dropped my truck off at 9:00 in the morning and they had told me it would be out the same day and I had went back at 1 in the afternoon and they had just pulled it in the shop. So I went into to get my estimate and he turned around and told me he would have to hold it over night after telling me it would be out the same day.

I took my vehicle to General Auto to fix a couple of problems that a auto repair shop in Saluda did not install properly. As with most people, I have a deep distrust of Auto repair shops and after my recent experience with a local repair shop, it reinforced that misgiving.But... As soon as the entered the General Auto Repair shop, I found the staff friendly and knowledgeable. I explained what I needed done (EGR Gaskets and a pair of exhaust cutouts installed) and within a couple of minutes my vehicle was in one of the shop bays.The mechanic that worked on the car, came out to ask me a few questions to ensure the details of what I wanted done and how I wanted the wires run for the exhaust cutouts. This was a welcome experience.I was well impressed with the professional attitudes and work craftsmanship that I will be taking my ride back to them for years to come.

Took my car there to have a diagnostic run on it. I called beforehand to get an estimate and was told that it would be $40-$60. I left my car there for them to run the diagnostic and received a phone call informing me that they were not able to run the diagnostic because of damage that was done in the undercarriage. When I went to go pick up my vehicle I was charge $90 for something they couldnt even do.. They never explained to me what the charges were actually for. When I tried to drive my vehicle out for the parking lot it wouldnt even drive.. I looked at the engine and noticed that one of the spark plugs had been changed(wasnt even the correct size!) They then told me that the engine had cracked. I would never recommend doing business with them EVER.

Waited 5 mins for them to take my truck in to change all 4 tires. Most shops have it done in about an hour. This shop took 2 hours and 45 mins to just change tires. Wouldnt recommend.

My first and last experience with them. Charged $260 to diagnose and change a blown fuse then another $300 to change the transmission fluid.

Really great to find a shop to that has the abiility to diagnoss a problem and solve it.rather than replace things they think are wrong until the problems go away.I am very pleased with the result.
