For a fun vacation kinda thing to do, for gem lovers, explorer and the curious this was the perfect way to enjoy some fresh air and discover. The young gentlemen that were working today were just delightful,very attentive and very educated on everything you discover.

This shop is very clean, well organized, and the prices felt pretty fair overall. The staff was also very nice and they were quite welcoming and engaged with customers, which was cool! I got some very good rocks and minerals here that I felt were priced well for their quality and size. The optical calcite was so neat. Check it out if you haven’t seen it before! Also saw some cute carved marble frogs and turtles nearby. Snagged a frog on a Lilly pad because I couldn’t resist the charm. I also found a Big Foot puzzle in the back corner… almost as if it were trying to remain hidden from the public eye… but I finally found him… 5/5 stars totally earned.

Jorie was very generous with her time showing our boys all the amazing gems and fossils in the Super mining bucket. For $65, the 3 boys all got their shirts wet panning for the stones and the elusive shark tooth. Thanks again Jorie!!

Jorie greeted us at the door and expertly explained the sizes and contents of the various choices of our gem mining experience. She accommodated our every request with her beautiful smile and her professionalism. We were so excited over our finds and again Jorie was right there to explain what the gems were that we found. It was excellent service by a very knowledgeable staff member and we couldn’t have enjoyed it anymore than we did. Our enjoyment and satisfaction are over the top.

Wonderful time today mining . We purchase three buckets and was able to find a wide variety of different types of rocks . Jorie & Faith made our experience even more enjoyable. They shared facts about some of the rocks like one was used in toothpaste. Their details and excitement they shared with my daughters were perfect and made my girls excited to look for more rocks. We will definitely come back.

We had such a great time here! Our kids made memories with their grandparents and Jorie was SO helpful and involved with us the whole visit. Even when things got busy in the store front, she came right back to us to tell us about the gems we found and encourage the kids. She was great and the we found amazing gems, sharks teeth and an arrowhead! Totally recommend!

We have been gem mining about 4 times before and we just had the best gem mining experience ever! The staff here is awesome. Rylee helped us to know what all the gems and fossils were. We even dropped 2 accidentally in the water and she was able to get them! We went with the Super bucket and highly recommend if you want a bunch of neat treasures to bring home and have a few little ones to do the mining.

Jill was fantastic! She was so friendly and knowledgeable and is great with kids. We wandered in to browse during a quick weekend trip and ended up spending a couple hours in the store. Gem mining was a hit and the kids scored some amazing finds. We will definitely be back in to see Jill on our next trip to the area!

I went here with my family for my birthday and we just had so much fun! We couldn’t stop talking about it and went back a 2nd time! Jesse was awesome! She “rocks”! We had a great experience! My daughter had a coupon for a free little nugget bucket. We found a nice variety of gems.Cass and Cadence were very informative and super friendly. Cadence was very helpful and showed my daughter and I how gem mining worked. Cass made 3 beautiful necklaces for $5 each with the gems my daughter found. She was very patient, knowledgeable, and talented.

This was a super nice stop for our kids as well as us. The store is amazing plus gem mining? Winning. Get the large bucket. Trust me. Our kids left with sooooo many cool rocks including an ID chart so they can learn about each one they got. So many different types of rocks too! This is a nice thing to do for the kids that need a break from all the stores and shopping. A great way to pass the time. I feel this is even a must honestly to do if you are around.

My husband and I had such a GREAT time! We found a ton of beautiful pieces in our Rockhound buckets. My favorites finds were a piece of obsidian, ruby and a shark tooth! Jamie was super attentive, as well as very knowledgeable about all of the gems! Would absolutely recommend!

Genuinely the best Gem Mining experience Ive had thus far. Jorie was incredibly kind and knowledgable about what I was uncovering in my bucket. The variety in the buckets was incredible, and even though I got the cheapest option, I still walked away with some cool stuff! Would definitely go back.

Lots of nice gift items including Cherished Girl shirts and the gem mining was thoroughly fun. My elderly mother and I found lots of nice gems, fossils. We had an amazingly knowledgeable young lady, named Jamie who helped us identify our findings. Mom was so happy that we asked for permission to add her picture to our review. So, go see Jamie at the main street location. No matter what you wont be disappointed.

Me and my siblings had such a great time we came back a second time the same day! The works, Reagan specifically, were incredibly accommodating, helpful, charismatic, and sweet. Reagan routinely checked up on us and continued to provide helpful information about our rocks and gemstones. 10/10 would come back a third time!

This was a really fun shop. The sales assistant was a really nice and very helpful. What drew me in was the collection of novelty socks. My daughter is big into socks and so everywhere I go I always keep my eye out for socks. This shop had a really excellent selection with lots of sock art that I had not seen before so I was able to by multiple pairs (shhhh. . Dont tell my daughter). Very fun. I will check their selection the next time I am in town.

Amazing service! Firstly I walked in and immediately spotted a beautiful girl named Grace at the counter. She was super friendly and I felt compelled to buy a little nugget bucket. I found some interesting stuff and she told me each and every rock(kinda nerdy). Great place would recommend.

We enjoy visiting this Gem Mine when visiting the Hendersonville area. The staff is always welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable about the rocks my son mines. While mining the girls take it upon themselves to come over and check on us, and talk about some of my son’s findings with him. This is a great little place and a fun activity for kids in this quaint town. My son is 4 and always wants to go, and he comes home with a good bunch of gems, so it makes it worth it.

This place is amazing. Such a great staff and we got so much for the value. We did the Super bucket experience with 5 of us and had so much fun. Oh my god I love this place! I live in Florida, and every time I go up north I always come here! The first time I went I got a Groupon deal buy one get one free bucket, and the second time I got the super bucket. The super bucket was amazing!!!! I got so many huge specimens one was an amethyst slab that was the length of my arm! It was amazing! The third time I went I got the same bucket, I got a bunch of amazing specimens again, but the most remarkable thing was the service! Jill was there that day and she was amazing! She started introductions asking pronouns and if I would be more comfortable with her wearing a mask even though she was fully vaccinated. I found this amazing, especially for the area. She helped me identify all my gems and wire wrapped some of them for only $5 each, cord included! I love this place, for the service and the quality!

Stopped by and sifted a large bucket with the help of Grace. They were three of us so we sifted it pretty quickly, but we found a lot of great minerals and fossils, plus a good sized geode which was really pretty once we cracked it open. There is a lot more to the gift shop than just the sifting, but it was definitely the most fun part of our visit. We purchased some goodies as well, a ring, some decorative items and my brother even found some dice made of minerals which was pretty cool. Its definitely worth a visit if youre in town.

Hailey and Cadence were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The gem variety and quality were both surprisingly high. The prices were also competitive. All-in-all a great experience I look forward to repeating next year.

July 23,2021 We took our 10 year old grandson to the Pisgah Forest Gem Mine & Gifts in downtown Hendersonville. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Cadence assisted us with obtaining our bucket and very helpful in identifying the gems we found. If I could give a seven Star to Cadence, I would as she made our gem mining adventure fun and we learned a lot about the gems. The other difference that sets this store above the several gem mines we have visited is that the sluicing is done inside the store, out of the hot sun, and in the air conditioned store. One tip, buy one of the larger pails of ore, they contain a larger variety of gems and will make a positive memory for your children and grandchildren who will take home their priceless treasures to show their friends. Again, Thank You Cadence for assisting us and leaving positive lasting memories for my family and grandchild!

Hailey and grace were the sweetest ever!! They were very helpful and tried their best with the necklaces even though they could barely put the wire on it. They were so polite and helped us out with the gems stuff and they made me feel so involved and good. :))

Fun experience! My wife bought a super bucket and ended up with some amazing amethyst pieces and a geode. Our friend bought a bonanza bucket and found some sharks teeth and other great pieces. I bought the new fossil bucket hoping for megalodon teeth or something neat but needed up with a bunch of what I was told was whale bone and sea worms.

We had a phenomenal experience!My six year old daughter loves rocks and gems so we took her here while on vacation. The staff was super friendly and helpful checking on us while we looked for gems. We spent $60 (the mid range) on a very large bucket of sand. We expected to find a few small gems, what we got was 2 very large ones a few dozen other sizes.My daughter loved it and my wife and I had a blast too. And if the gem search isnt your thing they have a very nice gift shop that is priced very reasonably.I would recommend checking this place out if you are in town!

The two young ladies that helped my 8 year olds were so great! They explained everything clearly and were very interactive with them, checking back often. They sweetly shared their excitement when they found some really cool gems 💎

Absolutely loved our visit! My family love to vacation to the Smokies on the NC side and did so this past June (finally saw the catawba bloom). Jamie & Jesse took great care of us during our visit. I wear my tiger eye necklace every day. I also put the gems from my panning haul with the shells I found on the shores of Atlantic Beach into the pictured lamp. Good times. I havent had a vacay in forever, so this was one heck of a way to break that streak. 👍👍👍

I’ve taken my 5 year old daughter here a number of times and we always have a blast hunting for cool rocks and fossils. This last time was particularly great as Jill was working and was SUPER great and attentive to us. She has an amazing knowledge of the rocks and gems and was so good with my daughter that my daughter would want to go look for Jill to show her every time she found something new. Will keep coming back for years!

My son and I visited on Mothers Day while out and about in Hendersonville, and we had a blast! We bought a small bucket to sift through together at the store which kept us entertained for about a half hour- a great amount of time for an 8 year old on the move. We were helped by a wonderful employee named Jill who was very knowledgeable about the types of rocks and gems we found. My son and I were equally amused when Jill told us that we had found a fossilized worm! Overall, visiting Pisgah Forest Gem Mine was the highlight of our day, and I was so grateful to have some educational quality time with my son.

A very fun experience! Bought this for my 2 grandsons(4yrs and 5yr old) to enjoy together and they definitely did. Both boys each got a bucket, scoop, panning tray, stone identification/card and instructions from Lauren, then they literally dug-in. Lauren made herself available to answer what is this? questions and give the boys a few tips, I believe my son enjoyed it as much as his boy. WONDERFUL STORE! I was just strolling around in downtown hendersonville when I came across the gem mine. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a wonderful young lady who goes by the name of Jill. She was energetic and easy too talk to, an amazing employee I must say. Whilst browsing the store and coming across many outstanding and exciting items I could overhear Jills warming and informational conversation with her customers who had purchased a bucket to mine. Going over all the rocks and gems that they where finding she was confident, kind, and pleased to be their with the kids and adults. Ultimately I did not come to find anything to purchase but I would definitely recommend anyone in the area to go on down and give it a shot. If you end up in the store and Jill is working it, know you are in good hands. 10/10

As we were window-shopping downtown Hendersonville, we decided to splurge and purchase a dirt bucket of gems for our nine year old to sift through. And wow, what a deal that was. She came up with gem after gem as an associate of the store, Jill, would pass by us every so often and would exclaim about what a great haul our child had received. She informed of what each gem/rock was and would give us some tidbits of fun info here and there. A very charming young lady she was. This was our first real trip in the past year and we happened upon the Pisgah Forest Gem Mine in Hendersonville, NC while enjoying walking around downtown. My 10 year old absolutely loves panning for gems wherever we have travelled in the past and this day was no different! Jesse was working that afternoon and was a great resource as my child was discovering, and trying to identify different gems and fossils! She was very friendly during our time in the shop. This business treats its customers very well and this was a great value for the price!

Jamie was so kind to my 3 children when helping them mine a bucket of gems. She is knowledgeable about the gems and gave us cool tips about how the gems are used. We even did some shopping after and my kids were fascinated by the meglodon teeth! I would definitely go back anytime we are visiting Hendersonville again.

Leah was amazing! My son is rock obsessed and being so sick of the rain we came in to mine for the first time. He was in heaven and thought finding gems was the coolest experience.He did not trust the identification chart and his mom so practically every rock he had to go ask Leah what kind it was...amidst other customers as well and she had so much patience for him. She answered EVERY question and even came over when she could to be right with him when he found something.Then when we were done, she took us around the store and showed him all the other things and answered even more questions! What a great experience!
