I have had mixed experiences here. Their singles and pack selection is really good so it is worth going to check out. The dark haired lady who works here is rude. They have limits to card sleeves/cases and you cannot use a debit card for orders less than 5$ which can put you in a peculiar spot if youre only purchasing card sleeves. I only had my debit and they wouldnt sell me 3 packs of sleeves so it was suggested that I pay over sticker price for the 2 packs of sleeves they would sell me to make the order total 5$ so that I could use my debit card. Hilarious

Aparrently they charge you more for mtg lands than most commons/uncommons. Never been at a more scummy business. Avoid this store at all costs.

Visit for FCBD from out of town. Shop more focused on TCG and Tabletop. What comics are there are not in the best of display / condition...no bags / boards for back issues, everything haphazardly put in display long boxes. Id suggest other resources for comics specifically as while you might find an issue or two you might be looking for, chances are high the condition of the issue will be janked unless its one of the handful of alternate covers that they DO have bagged / board.

This place is a joke! Guy behind the register was super rude to my son and I. Seen us grab several hard cases and as we laid them on the counter he tosses two to the side and says we have a limit. Nothing else was said….not even a thank you! Should’ve just walked out. Can definitely see why the store was empty. Will be going elsewhere.

My son was waving and saying hey for over 5 minutes when the lady Anna wouldnt even agnologize my little boy. Then shes using very foul language as shes looking up the price for something. Just very rude I wouldnt recommend there sky high prices, filthy attitude or anything else this place has to offer.

So first off the new location is amazing it has great floor space very well kept up. great organized card and table top area, so thankful that the staff from the old store followed I plan on coming up more. Also easy to find

Tried to buy a gift from a wonderful small business. Woman was incredibly rude. I see many similar comments. I will never return. I’ll try to find the owner, they need to know that due to her behavior, they are losing business. Maybe she needs hug, but I’d be scared to get too close.

I have gone here a long time now. I get comics that they have a nice selection and if there ever is a miss they go beyond to find it. Also have a really good selection of board games. In addition they build a friendly environment for people to jump into communities from board games, comics, DnD, etc.Also theyve never (that I have seen) shoved things in peoples face trying to sell things and overwhelm the customer.

*Buyer Beware*This review is based solely on my experience as a Sports Card Collector.1. I called the store to find out what kind of Football cards they had in stock (boxes/packs) as the store was 40 minutes away and I didn’t want to drive to Hickory and there not be any inventory.- The response I received over the phone was that they had everything on hand in terms of boxes and packs but they don’t sell individual cards. I ask again (to confirm) that they do indeed have everything on hand and I specified a specific Panini release to ensure I wasn’t wasting my time. The employee responded with “we have everything on hand and that he could not be more specific due to the owners policies”. I was pretty confused as to why a card shop owner would have issues confirming the exact series of cards he had for sale but later it made sense....2. I drive up to Hickory based on the employees guidance that they have everything on hand which of course turned out to be patently false. Their football card inventory was so limited I actually had to ask where it was located in the display counter. I then asked about a box of the type I had specifically called about on the phone and was told they didn’t have it in stock.... So much for “we have everything”.3. I frequent a couple of different hobby shops and was pretty shocked to see the markup on these packs. Usually retailers (not online resellers) look for a 20% mark-up on whatever they pay their supplier. The markup on these card were astronomical.... I mean, I am all about supporting the mom and pop shop’s but the markup on these cards are insane literally either in-line or ABOVE what you would pay buying them online from a RESELLER.... Meaning you are much better off buying straight from Amazon or ebay as you will pay the same price or less, a much larger selection, and they are shipped directly to you within a day or two.If you are like me and live in the LKN area there is a much closer mom and pop cards shop and the owners are wonderful- trustworthy folks. This specific owner certainly failed the marshmallow test. I would also add if you do happen to stop into the shop make sure to check out their “Frequent Buyer” program I mean they really know how to take care of their loyal customers.

Decent stock and it was cool to see the popularity of sports cards here alongside MtG and Board Games. Only 3 stars as there was little to no customer service and as we werent spoken to outside of a brief but welcoming hello I wasnt prompted to buy anything. I had some questions about an upcoming TCG and didnt get the chance to ask those either. Still, decent atmosphere and might be back.

Two stars because a very nice shop, very spacious. However, as others have complained, dark haired girl there has absolute terrible attitude. Seemed to be more worried with her phone. I try to be understanding. However, its Tuesday. They open at 3. Too far to drive for terrible attitude.

Was in there Saturday to look around and the employee with the long dark hair acted as though it was a burden to help. Rolling eyes and mumbling under their breath. Kept acting like they hated their job. Hopefully the manager or owner sees this and remedies it. But as I can see reading the reviews its unlikely. Poor management style. Will take my business elsewhere.

I really hate to do this, because I would hate to hurt a local business, but I am at my wits end. Most of the employees here are nice, but there is a woman who works here who acts like you are pulling her teeth if she has to actually do anything for you. Every single time I go into this store and she is working she has an absolutely horrible attitude. I have never been rude, disrespectful, or impatient with anyone at this store. I have had conversations with other employees, and the owner, and they have always been positive. I have spent hundreds of dollars here, and would have gladly spent hundreds more, but I will not be going back again.If the owner reads this, know that I really love everything about this store, except for the often atrocious customer service. I have tried to give this place a chance multiple times over the past months, and have held off from leaving a negative review in order to give them the benefit of the doubt. But, after several visits and as time has passed, I feel differently about it now.First, as a shop, a terrible place to go if you’re a Pokemon TCG fan. Abysmal selection, they hardly ever (if ever) have even the new release league battle decks or other promotionals for the game, and their single card stock is weak. Of course, if you like other card games, I am sure they might possibly have you covered, hence why I refrain from a full on one star review. Also a disappointing lack of choice when it comes to things like card pages, as you can either buy 100 at once or individual ones at an insane mark up when you do the math.The main reason I drop it below an average three star review, and honestly my biggest gripe with the place: its absolute flouting of public health during a literal pandemic. For months now, when I go into this store, not only are the customers unmasked, the employees are unmasked. Never mind that this is a literal mandate from the state’s governor. All you have to do is go to basically any other place of business in this area, and you’ll see that at the bare minimum, the employees have masks on. I have not seen a single employee with a mask in months after several visits. They do not enforce it for the customers, either, despite them literally congregating around tables that absolutely do not allow for social distancing. This is a gross lack of care and respect for the health of the gaming community and the community at large, and hugely disappointing to see in a space like this. As much as it makes me want to drop it down to one star, I’ll keep it from that because I’m sure there are redeeming qualities that I am not privy to based on my personal tastes and wants from a card shop.Bottom line: don’t go here if you primarily play Pokemon, or if you value your health (really, even amidst climbing numbers nationally and in the county).

Just came in 30 min before they close and whoever was working there, I couldnt tell u theyre name they had no name tag. All i will say is that I was practically hurried and rushed out, only have bad experience when she works.. Other than that great store...

The owner was nice the first time i went there. The rest of the times the other employees especially the lady there was absolutely rude the last several times ive been there. Plus prices are entirely too high!!! I will be buying online or travleing out of the way before i give them a penny again. Trust me save your money and buy online!

This was my first time visiting The Dugout. Honestly, I thought this would just be another sports card/comic book store. I pleasantly surprised! Weve been to many gaming stores in the Charlotte area and this store is well worth a visit. Good amount of gaming tables, fun board games, and a Warhammer area. Will definitely visit again.

This is the best hobby and gaming store in the area. The owners have always made it a priority to make there store a welcome place for all to come play gamesand hang out. The store always has a ton of games and game supplies in stock. I cant say enough good things about this place. You should definitely check it out for yourself if youve never been.

Had an abysmal first visit and have been several times since then hoping for more positive experiences. That has not been the case, though. Staff are consistently engaged in casual conversation with some customers and ignore others who need help or just want to make purchases. On one occasion a staff member questioned and criticized my purchase throughout the entire process of picking it out. You would think they would have been happy I was buying anything. While they have a fair selection of boardgames, which is my particular area of interest, the prices are far from competitive, even during sales. There are much better local businesses in the area to support if tabletop gaming is what youre after.

Husband loves this store! I have to drag him out every time we are in hickory. He could spend all day looking at the selection of dungeons and dragons miniatures. Also where he gets his tiny tubes of model paint.

This is an amazing store!!! my 11 year old son learned how to play Pokemon card game yesterday by a young fellow named Sebastian!! All the staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable of all products they sell! I would recommend this store to all parents and children looking for a fun way to pass time!! I went in here and I was amazed to see that the place was filled with wild dogs. The wild dogs were very clean, and knowledgeable about comics and games, although they thought that a Howling Mine was playable in competitive magic which any serious player knows is nonsense. I love dogs and games so this was the place for me. Note that you must wear a shirt and footwear.

Since I discovered this store I have gained an extended family. Selection and knowledge is uncomparable to other stores. Spoon

I absolutely love the owners of this comic shop. They are very personable, very passionate about what the sell, and they always create a homey environment. I have been a patron since they first opened in Hickory, and I will continue to be a client and refer new clients until everyone has had the opportunity to be served by this wonderful family! :)

Spacious with friendly and knowledgeable staff

Every time I call to ask for magic singles the guy working always makes up excuses on why he can’t look for me, Honestly the guy knows nothing about magic and the owner should find someone better who is more knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to magic cards. I am a serious competitive magic player and every time I call looking for cards it isn’t just some bulk rare magic singles it’s expensive high dollar cards.I called today looking for grim flayers x2, kalitas traitor of ghet x2, garruk apex predator mythic edition x1, Nissa, Voice of zendikar x2 and 2x blooming marsh.... so yea almost 200 dollars worth of cards that I was going to come and buy but because the worker is lazy and unknowledgeable they lost a huge sale.

Worst place to go in Hickory.The owner is rude, unreasonable and disrespectful.If you are a comic collector and want to buy multiple copies of the same copies you will be yelled at, there is no sign that states you are not allowed to do so anywhere so be aware.Terrible business.

Seems nice and really good prices on most items, but no customer service to speak of. I was totally ignored and dismissed by anyone there, I was disappointed being new to the area.

I used to deliver food to the guys who work here. I always loved to check out the stuff they had because my husband was into marvel and star wars and my kids love pokamon. The guys were super friendly and they always gave me a tip. Believe it or not that says something about how much they care for other people. They actually cared what it was like to be me. I definately recommend this shop.
