First of all, everything Ive tried has been tasty especially if you need a gluten free option. Recently, I needed a cake in a pinch and Nicole and her staff went above and beyond to make it happen. It was a going-away cake with an adult theme which helped lighten the mood. Delicious and hilarious!
Two of my family members are gluten free. We were pleased to be able to get them some Christmas pastries they could enjoy. 2 of the 3 cases were gluten free. Their gluten free chocolate chip muffins & cinnamon tiles tasted good. Their non-gluten free cannoli was good but the filling could have been creamier.
I cant speak highly enough for this place! Nicole and the whole team are absolutely amazing!!!! Nicole and her team catered all the deserts for our wedding this October and did an AMAZING job!!! Everything was too good and herself and her staff were possibly the nicest people we have ever met!! This will definitely become a new go to for us whenever we are in Hilton Head!!! Thank you again sooo much!!!!!
The muffins were really good. The cinnamon rolls were good but a slight bummer. My wife cant eat regular flour and thought for sure these were going to be just like the real thing. Nope. They are heavy. But if you go in thinking they are going to be like all gluten free stuff you wont be unhappy with your selection. I would say they are the best gf cinnamon rolls shes ever had. They tasted perfect. We would definitely go back
Best carrot cake Ive ever had! Cream cheese frosting was perfect, not overpowering and overly sweet. Cake was flavorful and moist!
Absolutely made my vacation. I was able to stock up on some goodies to take back home. Everything I have tried has been amazing and my family (doesn’t have to eat GF) agreed. I wish we had a place like this in the upstate.
So I haven’t had a cinnamon roll in about 5 years, since I determined how sick gluten makes me. It’s difficult to find good gluten free sweets (that contain wheat flour subs), but when the G-free Spot was recommended to us by our vacation hostess, I had to check it out. My husband placed an order for me the night before, and when I went to pick it up the next morning, 15 minutes early, it was ready. The gentleman handed it to me, explaining that the cinnamon roll had just come out of the oven. 😱I made it to my car. That’s it. No further. I ate about half of the cinnamon roll…ooey gooey, cinnamony, sweet…salivating as I recall that moment. It was everything I wanted and needed. From the ordering process to my interaction with the shop…perfection. I also purchased a lemon bar (oh em gee) and a cinnamon streusel coffee cake…both were near perfection. I shared the coffee cake with the hubs…it was a smidge heavy on the cinnamon for me, and he LOVED it. The experience hit me right in the G-free spot. *chef’s kiss*
While on vacation, I stopped in for a coffee while my family was playing golf. I instantly connected with the friendly staff. The coffee was great. While sipping my coffee in front of the shop in the quaint shopping center though I noticed something even better than the coffee! An older woman went into the shop, came out, and then sat near me outside. A few minutes later, the woman from the shop came outside with a sandwich for the woman. She proceeded to help the woman open her chips and her silverware. The woman had some difficulty communicating, but that did not stop the owner of the shop. She proceeded to ask questions and communicate effectively with the older woman. She treated all customers with dignity and grace. What a gem of a find in a human being!
Cute little coffee shop/bakery with an amazing assortment of gluten-free baked goods. I had a cinnamon roll muffin and friend had coffee cake. Both were absolutely delicious and, hard-to-believe, gluten-free.Owner/counter guy was friendly and helpful. Went out of his way to heat my yummy muffin.Great selection of gluten free pastries and desserts: Mouth watering cheesecakes, cupcakes, muffins, coffee cakes, macarons can all be made to order.Highly recommend this little spot for a quick pick me up when on the Hilton Head area. You wont be disappointed. The owners aim to please and showcase their talent.
An amazing family owned gluten free dessert haven. The owners including their son were so kind and helpful. The shop is so clean and inviting. They have three full cases of gluten free options. Everything from cheesecake, to scones (which is what I had) brownies, every flavored cookie, cupcake and muffin you can think of. It took me a long time to decide on a few things because there were so many choices. The peach scone was so moist and flavorful. I will be eating my white chocolate chip cookie shortly! They also have a new cappuccino, latte machine with many milk alternatives. I had a latte with cashew milk and it was yum. I actually came back the next day to get another one.Even if you aren’t gluten free you will love it. My husband who is not gluten free said they scone was so good. There are places to sit outside. We will be back every time we visit HH!
Great place, very nice staff and the coffee is outstanding. Im not a gluten free person but that free sample was delicious.
Oh my god, disgusting. We ordered a carrot cake and also a cheesecake for my birthday, and both were the most abysmal things Ive ever eaten in my life. I have been gluten-free for the last ten years, and let me tell you, you are better off eating what is in the garbage than eating here. Both my mom and little brother hated the cakes too. Do not waste your time or money.
I had a delicious vegan chocolate cupcake. I was so happy they had a vegan option, on top of being gluten free!
I enjoyed our time at the G-free spot! Variety of pastries! The place was super cozy and cute!Im giving 2 stars for the lack of attention of detail! I paid $13.5for a BLT with avocado and gluten-free multigrain witch I paid $4 for all the extras, including a gluten-free bread(it should be included in the price of the sandwich since they are promoting specifically as a G-free spot, and it wasnt) and I got a white bread and no avocado instead! For my side I got gluten-free cookies and since they didnt have them, I thought I could get another cookie(the ones they have outside) and I was charged $3 for that as well. So I paid $16 for a BLT with no avocado, white bread and a cookie
This place is amazing! This family owned gluten free bakery has dozens of gourmet, delicious gluten free goodies, we couldnt choose just one. We visited multiple times while on vacation in HH. Every single item we tried from the breakfast bagels, to the cupcakes, to the one of a kind cinnamon rolls, were SO delicious. SUCH a treat! Hard to believe its gluten free. The service was also top notch. Everyone is so accommodating and kind. We will definitely be back when in HH and for online orders! Its that good. Definitely recommend.
The food was amazing, and the staff was very friendly. We will definitely go back, the pumpkin bread was amazing!
My daughter requested key lime cupcakes with a toasted coconut for her 12th birthday. The G free spot made it happen. These cupcakes were amazing !!! They were the perfect combination of sweet and The G free spot made a 12 year girl very happy on her birthday. THANK YOU
They have many delicious treats, sweets and breads. Only thing is, portions are smallish and prices high. Good for a special occasion.
This was such a happy find for a gluten free eater! The shop is adorable, very clean and smells so good. I’ll admit, I haven’t seen so many gluten free options in one setting so I was a bit overwhelmed.I ordered a red velvet cupcake and at the last minute a brownie topped with cheesecake topped with Oreos. The cupcake was just OKAY (hence the 4 stars) but omg I’m still thinking about the brownie days later. I will be getting more before I leave. We also ordered the cheesecake with brownie bottom to celebrate a family members birthday. For cakes they ask for two days notice. They are very lovely people and I am looking forward to going back.
Love this place! The only place to get safe gluten free pastries!
I have bought 2 birthday cakes from this new spot, one for my wife, other for my son. Both were excellent, even my 18 year old,dad I am too old for cake son, loved it.These were not gluten free but the option is available.....Nice to have a bakery on the north end oh Hhi.
Great selection and very friendly staff. I recommend the key lime pie and bread pudding.
Everything was amazing...10/10 customer service, 10/10 sandwiches, and 10/10 cinnamon rolls--and everyone was gluten free and allergy friendly. I wish I had one in Ohio.
Delicious gluten-free goodies! The cupcakes are excellent and the crumb cake is wonderful. Also very much enjoyed the frittata. The shop is spotless and well worth a visit. Highly recommended!
Great place and amazing options 10/5. Highly recommend
Hands down one of the best gluten free bakeries I have ever been to! They have two full cases of gluten free goodies to chose from and everything is so delicious. It’s not your standard cookie and a cupcake gf options. They have lemon bars, coffee cake, cheesecake brownies, cake pops and much more. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the store is very clean. If you are gluten free this is your new favorite spot!
We first came across this place when they were previously located in Coligny Plaza. This was our first time visiting at the new, larger location. It did not disappoint! The cases were full of all types of gluten free goodness. My kids opted to each get a slice of the cheesecake. They both loved it. My daughter isnt on a strict gluten free diet but she couldnt tell the difference. The service was great. They were very patient as my kiddo scanned the cases to make their final decisions.Pro-tip: They also have a separate kitchen (not dedicated gf) that serves sandwiches and salads with a gf option.
Great selection of gluten free desserts and breakfast options!
This should be called the No Longer G free Spot! I was so disappointed to hear that only 1 small bakery case contained GF items and the other two larger cases contained regular items. What in the world?! From the website it is a dedicated GF bakery and now cafe. There was no menu for lunch, which is what we went for based on an Instagram post. All we saw in the case was quiche and salad, and we were hoping for sandwiches. We left and returned an hour later for dessert. My daughter and I both chose a GF cupcake (she had vanilla and I had red velvet). As we were selecting our items, another customer asked for a menu. The cashier told her to go around the corner of the counter and grab one. Seriously? No signage or indication of other lunch items? At that point I inquired if any of it could be made GF, the cashier stated all of it. Oh well. Wish we would have known. We took home the cupcakes and ate them later. I was sick within no time and was not well for days after. Her stomach hurt a little but she has less sensitivity. For the price, it was average in terms of taste. But after getting sick and not having a true gluten free experience as we anticipated, we will not be returning.
Im not sure what was happening on the day I visited. Only one of the three cases was gluten free and their card reader wouldnt take my mastercard. I think they have a different location. Just want to warn other gluten free folks that its not exclusively gluten free, so make sure to ask.
Stopped by and picked up frittatas and gf coffee cake. Everything was absolutely delicious! It was our first time there. Well definitely be back.
Super cute little place! The people are very nice and they have good knowledge on the treats!!! Love that everything is gluten free-my boyfriend happens to have celiac so this was a really good place for us to stop and get a little treat before we hit the road home. Super yummy. Will def come back next time in Hilton head😁
Pretty good for gluten free. I dont usually like gluten free baked goods but the cupcakes were better than most. I wish it wasnt cold though. If they were room temperature I believe it probably would have tasted better, especially the icing. If you go see the timeshare and get the free island money you can buy these with it. I would say thats definitely the best way to try it. Good variety and very nice employees 👍
We visited this place everyday we were on vacation in June of 2020. We tried almost EVERYTHING!! Our family of 3 who are GF and our extended family (8) who have no need to eat GF loved it!Our Favorites were the coffee cake, the sausage casserole thing lol sorry I forgot the name. My husband LOVED the scones. He ate them before I could taste test!! We cant wait to come back and try the cinna-buns and the other sweet treats!!! The coffee was great too! Prices were very reasonable! Thank you for offering a GF safe place.
This place is ALWAYS a really great place to get some yummy desserts that are gluten free yet dont lack in the tasty department. Liked them so much I bought the t-shirt 😁
Delicious sandwiches and gluten free bakery treats.
Totally a hidden gem!! Not easy to find, but its worth it. Baked goodies are divine. Great place for gluten-free cupcakes and desserts. Cannot say enough nice things about the staff. You absolutely must try the key lime tart! Food quality and taste is exceptional. Need a gluten-free dessert? This IS the place to go!
The G-Free Spot created the most amazing wedding cake that fit my gluten free, dairy free allergy requirements. Not only was it beautiful, but it tasted delicious and the customer service was superb! I can’t recommend the G-Free team enough. I never imagined I could have delicious cake with icing on my wedding day - they made my dreams come true!
Great spot for delicious treats!!! Love the brownies, carrot cake, and coffee cake the most.My wife and I come to HHI every year and normally we get ice cream every day of our trip till last year when we found this gem. The staff is super nice. I think we have been there almost every day of this week long trip. :)
What a disappointment that when they opened their new location only 1/4-1/3 of items are actually available to those needing a gluten free diet. Very deceiving website and name.
Great pastry options. Yummy iced coffee. I love that I can enjoy delicious gluten free treats on HHI.
Wow. I am just delighted that we discovered this place the last time we were in Hilton Head this summer. They had the best coffee cake and cookies and everything. Just walking into the bakery was like heaven and made me want to melt on the spot! I also love the pun in the bakerys name! Just another little elements of fun there.
Amazing gluten free desserts!
Delicious pastry and quiche, super friendly staff! Price is on the high end.
There is an assortment of baked goods that are nicely displayed. There is seating available if you want to order and eat there. This was my first time in the bakery, but so far what I have tried has been good. Although they are in an out of the way spot, there were people coming and going while I made my purchase.
THE RED VELVET CUPCAKES ARE TO DIE FOR!!! I miss red velvet sooo much since I had to start cutting gluten from my diet. I will be dreaming about it. My husband had the cinnamon crumb cake, and he was quite happy with it.
Last Friday my wife call the G-free spot in hopes of getting a birthday cake for our grandchildrens 3rd birthday party. We ask them for the impossible and they exceeded our expectations by a huge margin. We ask for a blue cake with a Dragons love tacos theme. We were blown away by taste of the cake, but even more so by the extra miles they went to make it happen. Oh yes they did all of this in less than 24 hours. THANK you Shawn and the team at G-Free Spot.
I found a vegan and gluten free cupcake!! I was shocked because nothing was marked as vegan, but my father asked a worker and they said they had one product. It was a chocolate cupcake and it was lovely :)
Fantastic gluten free food. Everything we had there was great. The sandwich was made to order and the tiramisu was to die for. Its a little off the beaten path so you have to go into the shops at Coligny. But well worth the trip. Super friendly staff as well.
Helpful and good selection. Not nearly as gay as I thought they were gonna be. They were normal it was weird.
We ordered a smash cake for my daughters first birthday and were very disappointed. I had called them and requested the cake over the phone since we live an hour away. I said that I wasnt sure what they were called since I was using Google but that I was pretty sure they were called buttercream roses and that they were the popular cakes all over online right now. I stated that I wanted the buttercream roses all over, and that I wanted it to be light pink. The person on the phone said she understood what I meant. I wish I had thought to send a picture over Facebook but unfortunately I did not. I just wish if that hadnt been possible or understood by the baker that I was called back later to be more prepared. When we picked it up and she showed me the cake it was nothing like I was expecting. I asked if it was possible to fix and she told me the baker had already left. I did not want to leave with the cake but we need egg free due to allergies, so I felt stuck. Fortunately, we were able to have the icing fixed exactly the way we wanted it to be by a neighbor. We ended up tasting the cake as well once pictures were done and the flavor was really off. It tasted like grainy bread dough. Im not sure if something went wrong in the baking process or if this is just what their vegan cakes taste like. Either way the whole thing was very disappointing, and upsetting. With such great reviews we were expecting a much different experience.
Great place for gluten free desserts. The owner made a 1 year birthday cake for my daughters special day & it was delicious! I will definitely be going there often!!
Truly gluten and allergy free is difficult to find. Here, there are so many delicious and beautiful (can you say wedding cake?!) items. Your only problem will be which items to take home with you! There are tables if you would like to dine in instead. There is a drink cooler which houses a variety of thirst quenching drinks. Thumbs up from this Celiac!
For the price the food was below par. Gritty cheesecake and lemon bar crust seemed underdone. Have had many gluten free desserts in our travels and this one wasnt memorable. Sorry to say its a pass in the future for us.
I have been looking for a place like this for AGES. I am so happy this place exists. I have celiac and the G Free Spot is amazing. highly recommend! All their cupcakes and cakes are spongey and moist and not dry like most GF things. They have awesome breakfast too.
Their lemon bars and brownies are to die for! They have figured out the magic behind delicious gluten free baked goods and desserts! So happy they ship to my state!
Amazing Gluten free items in a super cute shop! The staff is amazing and the owner is the nicest woman ever!
I visited today for the first time and bought a lemon square and a cream cheese danish. Oh my gosh !!! Both were absolutely delicious !!! Were in the area two more days and well definitely come back at least once more. I wish that I didnt live 3,000 miles away.
A shining light of our latest trip to Hilton Head Island. The pastries were amazing. We had the Snickerdoodle cookie, Brookie (brownie/chocolate chip cookie), red velvet and carrot cupcakes. They didnt even make it to the car. We are planning to stop on our next trip to town. Great job.
If i could give 6 stars I would. Yummy. Accommodating & excellent customer service. Smells delicious too.
The staff is wonderful and the owner is almost as sweet as the goods they bake!
Excellent for those with Celiac disease or gluten intolerance. They have all kinds of choices from lemon bars (sell out early), pies, cake slices, muffins, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and even sandwiches and drinks.
We stopped by and I had the brownie. DELICIOUS!!!! OMG...worth every penny. Would definitely go again!!
Despite the innuendo of its name, this a great place to bring the family for gluten free pastries. The cupcakes, muffins, strusel, and Snicker doodle were all really good. Friendly owner and staff too.
Great! This is a great place for our daughter who has a soy allergy. Wonderful to see her enjoy these wonderful baked goods.
DEEEEEELICIOUS!
It was a beautiful sight to walk into a bakery & know I could have whatever I wanted! I chose the crumb cake, it was delicious 😋😋😋 so good:) I will be back, thank you so much!
Girlfriend is allergic to wheat and was able to enjoy a lemon square that actually tasted like a lemon square for the first time in a few years. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone with allergies or intolerances.
Excellent desserts and friendly owner. Love this little shop.
Good food fair prices
Thank you so much for the delicious cake you made for us !
The gluten free vegan cupcakes were very good. They were also surprisingly expensive.
Great!
Delicious Gluten free goodies with a fun tag line too!
It’s so good to find a gluten free bakery and sandwich spot that is close to the beach and is delicious! We went two days in a row!
Amazing cupcakes and excellent service!
My wife and I bought pastries from here and they tasted a bit old. My wife went in to see if they could maybe give us some fresh ones or something like that, and they were very rude and mean to her.
Great place to get desserts if your looking for gluten-free products
Amazing scratch bakery with wonderful gluten free offerings.
Very good chicken salad sandwich.
Great gluten free food
Love this place ! The cupcakes are amazing, great service !
Wonderful 😘😍
Amazing
