The golden standard of comic books shops. This is one of the last remaining old school comic book shops in Long Island. They have books everywhere ranging from Golden age to current. They will often give you a deal on books without even asking. If there’s a key book you are interested they will also work with you on price. The shop is small so expect to say excuse me a lot as you try to pass through the shops. However your trip to this store will 100% worth it if you are an old school comic collector.

Perhaps one of the last great comic shops. My home away from home to be 10 years old again. I havent come across a book either they didnt have or couldnt get. Tor comics is the best place for comics on long island hands down, no question. Golden age, Silver age, Bronze age and modern age.

The gentleman behind the counter, which I believe to be the owner is not only sweet, respectful and knowledgeable, he is HONEST. He has more than comics too. I highly recommend stopping by to browse, buy and/or sell. He has items that would make really interesting gifts as well. You wont be disappointed.

I always love coming here. Very friendly ownership/staff, very homey atmosphere, and a very nice collection, especially for any Star Wars or DC/Marvel fans. I find more great deals here than most other bigger comic stores. Would definitely recommend this place again and again!

Looking for a great comic book shop? This is the spot. Everything from old to new to graded comics, everyone can find something they like here. Darren and his staff are very knowledgeable and help you find what you need.

Pretty good store, with a great selection of back issues, graded comics and a lot of older books which is cool to find! Small selection of weekly new comics, but has the main books with a decent amount of copies per issue and a decent amount of variants. Very low selection of trade paperbacks, hardcovers, etc... Absolutely no toys, collectables, statues and things like that. This place is straight comics and nothing else! Definitely one of the top selections on Long Island if you are specifically looking for back issues!

Tor Comics is an amazing comic book store that has amazing staff that are super friendly and help you find what you are looking for. The staff will help you find any comics you need because they will probably have it due to their ginormous selection of comic books but Ill get to that in a second. The staff will go out of their way to help you find what your looking for even after youre gone! One time I walked in and was looking for the new regular show comic but they had sold out of it already so I went home and when I got back to my house the phone rang and it was Tor Comics calling to let me know that they found a copy and that they would put it in my folder. On two occasions the friendly staff helped me specially order something and they were super nice about. Then after the amazing staff there is the fact of how large their comic book selection is. Most of the time I go in looking for one thing but then all of a sudden I see something that Im interested in and end up walking out with ten comic books when I only planned on buying one! But thats never a problem because all back issues there are 50% off! This is such a good deal because whenever Im in there I end up buying a lot of comic books. They get all new comic books on Wednesday and all the new comic books are easy to see and access. I just wish that new comic books came out everyday so I had an excuse to be in there more!

My last review about it being an eyesore was awhile ago. In reality Im just not into comics but the owner wasnt rude even though I wouldve deserved it quite frankly and explained to me why I was wrong. And thats business. Sorry again. Great owner by the way.

The best comic book store on long island been at the same location for years when other stores have long since gone. So much to look at plan to stay a few hours if your a real lover of comics this store never disappoints.

The best way for me to describe Tor Comics, is my Cheers. The entire staff is very friendly and they know their customers on a first name basis, and is always welcoming. They take the time to get to know you, what you like about comics etc. Service like this goes a long way in the small world of comic stores, where there are few inbetween but a growing digital distribution of comics growing. Their prices are fantastic, half off back issue bins, 10% off new issues if you have a pull list with them. I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys comics, and any chance I do get I always recommend them.

Been to 80% of the comic book stores on the island. Grew up walking distance from this place. During summer vacation took a lot of walks to this here to make a huge Star Wars and Sgt. ROCK collection. This place has a tremendous selection to choose from. Theres so much that the only thing i really wish was the store to be bigger so they could organize it since its a bit tight in there. Other then that, it really is the best comic book store on Long Island. The prices are awesome and youll see why if you go there.

I have never been a comic fan. But my daughter and I went during “free comic book day” and we both walked out with stuff we had no intention on seeing/buying until we were inside and happy.. Bill and Teds comics for her, classic Mad Magazine’s for me. This place is absolutely packed with everything you can come up with.

This quaint little store is stocked full of goodies. Its has one of the best back issues selection. The pre picked complete sets is a nice touch for a collector or 8f you are new to comics. Darren is a very knowledgeable and helpful business man who can cater to the needs of any customer. The comicbookshop is the shop to visit if you are a comic book fan.

Best Comic Book on the island. Not only will they work out very reasonable deals for you, but they will try earnestly to get back issues for you that they dont have in stock. Its a tiny shop with lots of Silver/Bronze/Copper/ and Modern age stuff. Its the definition of a mom-and-pop shop. Not a huge staff, so if youre OCD, its tight and can be messy if theyre converting stock into bins. Everything in the bins can usually be had for a good deal off ticket price. Staff are helpful. If you want new issues, either call ahead or join their fan club, because they do not overstock new issues. This is a store for an avid reader and collector, and really the last of a dying breed.

This is the only comic shop I goto on Long Island. I stop in at least once a week.The staff is great and always willing to help find what you are looking for. If they dont have it they will go out of there way to find it for you (even to the point of calling up their competitors). They actually have back issues older then the 90s.The staff really know about comics and conversations about titles, story lines and reasons for failing titles are always informative and based on facts.Not only do they sell comics but they are always willing to look at collections to purchase and sometimes they do (lets see the other stores do that) inventory is always changing.This is a store where all are welcome. If you dont feel welcome then thats on you, not due to any of the staff.

Guy at the counter (whom I would assume would be the owner) went on a vicious rant about diversity in comics. Having two women of different races kissing on a cover was a huge problem for him. Their slogan is Comics for Everyone! oh the irony. Also, the place is cluttered, filthy, and wreaks of cigarettes. Terrible for comics. He was even about to light one up on my way out. Worst comic place Ive ever been to.

EASILY my favorite comic store. You will be hard pressed to find a selection as vast as this in NY. Also has a VERY vintage feel to the degree that I guarantee you won’t find anywhere else. However, I did see an unfair negative review here though that I would like to address since Darrin, the owner, has always been such a really nice guy to me. To the reviewer claiming that Darrin is a bigot, I have heard him go on a few similar rants on this kind of subject. I found your recollection and assessment of what you allege that he said to all be amazingly misleading. His frustrations don’t come from people’s races or sexual orientations, he simply, like the vast majority of comic fans, doesn’t like the shallow stories that Marvel puts out these days that hide behind politics. Once you get past the in-your-face propaganda of those books (you yourself might not be able to) you’ll see that there just isn’t anything there. No story. Nothing to say, or contribute at all to a medium of art. Darrin is a great guy, despite his nicotine addiction (that much about him is true, however I never smelled it inside the place).

This place is stuffed to the brim with comics. If youre looking for something new, no prob. If youre looking for something old and dont want to ask for help, good luck (I like to be left alone mostly). No organization-when I asked about the mish mosh I was told customers like it. Felt a bit like I was being interrogated to make sure I was REALLY a reader of the series I picked up a few latest issues on.

Cramped, but has 10s of thousands of comics. Also has some cards like MTG. Has new and old comics. Friendly owner.

This little shop in Holtsville definitely has an old school feel (i agree with the last reviewer), It is extremely messy and unorganized, but if you find what you are looking for they will most certainly give you a deal ! All back-issues are always 50% which is amazing, if once again, you can find what u are looking for !
