Very bad experience from this dealership. First, the customer service was bad from the second I walked into the door. Secondly, the vehicles are marked up well over MSRP! They advertise the MSRP online but then when you come in for a test drive the vehicles are marked up 12-15K over MSRP. Completely ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and go to Lexus of Birmingham. They were willing to help me the moment I pulled into the parking lot and they didn’t have a markup on their vehicles. Genesis of Hoover is only in the business of ripping off their customers.

My experience with this dealership comes with mixed feelings of trust. I traveled to this dealership to look at a specific vehicle whereas they had a few in stock. When I called to confirm that these were available, the gentleman who answer the phone let me know that they were still there. In addition, I confirmed the price and was told to stop by and was told (by Mr. Casey) that they would provide me a “great deal.”Little did I know this would be a great deal of bulls**t. I pull up and the first thing I noticed was there were many salesmen waiting out front. As this may sound like a good thing, it was rather unwelcoming. However, the salesman that I worked with was nice and respectful when he greeted me. The first thing I noticed was that he wanted to get some information before showing me the vehicle I came to see. This was much different from the first Genesis dealership that I visited.After he gathered some information, he showed me the vehicles he had. What the salesmen didn’t know was that I knew what each vehicle had from the features to the added manufacture’s accessories. I was very well aware of the prices before walking in the door. What I didn’t know was that the dealership included a huge markup of approximately $4000 worth of additions (give or take $50). However, I still took the vehicle for a test drive and to see if I liked how it drove.When we sat down to talk numbers, I let the salesman know that I did not like the mark up and that the advertised price should be honored. He let me know that most dealerships do not advertise their mark ups and I thanked him for his honesty. I then inquired about the “great deal” that he could offer me and I found out that this was the manager of the dealership. The salesman went back to the manager and he comes to me with an offer for the full sticker price. I told him this deal isn’t looking too great. The salesman mentioned that the manager (Mr. Casey) would say anything to get me in the door, but it’s up to the sales team to close the sale. I thought that was an interesting concept, given I can leave the same way I can in. I let the salesman that I wouldn’t pay anything over the advertised price and he offered me a deal that was $2000 more than the advertised price. I thanked the salesman for his time and walked out the door leaving the vehicle there. As I am writing this review, it appears the vehicle has not been sold and I am not surprised.For those who seek to patron the Tameron family of dealerships, beware of the mark ups on their advertised prices and don’t not let them under-mind your intelligence by stating that other dealerships initiate the same practices. I did find what I was looking for and it was not with this dealership. 2 stars for the honesty of the salesman.
