If youre looking for top quality spices for the best price in town, if you like really fresh meat, then stop looking and go there. The place looks a little like a Calcutta flea market, but its definitely worth going there
I went one Wednesday to buy meat because they have very fresh every Wednesday. I told the butcher it’s for my baby he replied to me that the meat was fresh . When I get home it wasn’t fresh at all and it had a smell when you eating 😡😡😡 I trashed everything. You guys should tell the truth when someone ask you a question
The place is not as clean as restaurant should be but it’s so busy . I guess that could be the reason for dirtiness. The food is good.
My favorite place to shop due to the good prices compared to other Arabic grocery stores, and due to the outstanding customer services. Owner and all staff are super nice, friendly and helpful. I used to buy half of my grocery from a different store and the other half from Jerusalem due to availability issues, but now I switched all my shopping to Jerusalem just because of their superb customer service. I found alternatives to everything I used to buy from other stores.
Jerusalem is the original middle Eastern grocery store in Houston. While a little overwhelming with a maze of shelves that can feel claustrophobic, it is still a great store. You should also double-check the expiration dates on items. The highlights include the on-site butcher, halal meat and probably the best shawarma restaurant in Houston that is hidden away in the back of the store. Please like this review and follow me on Google for more HONEST and UNBIASED reviews.
Price on hookah supplies are awesome. Great customer service. Weird stench in the store but overall clean. Their produce seemed very fresh!
Love this grocery store. The food in the deli in the back is awesome!!!
This is for the RESTAURANT inside the grocery store. One of the best meals I’ve had! I’ve been coming here for years and the food is always delicious. Ayman and team are friendly and gruff in their own way. They treat you like family, good or bad! The lamb chops, the spicy chicken, special shawarma, falafel, and even the house yogurt are made to delight the tastebuds. This is a classic hole-in-the-Wall restaurant and it’s no secret. Most middle eastern and south Asian folks know this place very well! There’s ample parking but secure your belongings before you leave your vehicle.
Nice place. Prices were fair. I bought some fresh produce. Nice quality tea cups, loose tea, feta, hookah. They have it all.
Good place for Halal meat, Eid Qurbani meat, and international grocery. The restaurant is no longer open though. and The place could be more cleaner and organized.
I have a lot of respect for this business but no1 is wearing a mask other than the butchers, we are purchasing from you guys the least y’all can do is respect itY’all are breathing on our products when we buy them, on each other? I couldn’t take more photos but someone is going to call the cops real soon...
A confusing yet amazing place to find all sorts of hard to find items.
Why do you have halal on the name but not everything here is halal.ingredients specifically have gelatin in it. Just a question. Yes not all gelatin is pork. But still sir
Good products but rude cashiers harrasingly staring at ladies. I recommend the staff of this market to stop staring at peoples women for the fear of Allah and for the good of your own business.
Always a pleasure to stop by Jerusalem Halal Meats.
I recommend this supermarket and restaurant. Is the traditional Mediterranean food.
Most of the cashiers act like it’s their first time working with their check out system. They add each item multiple times onto the receipt and change the name of the item to grocery so that no one can really understand which item is which. I’ve been to this store at least two times already and each time the cashier adds 4/6 items extra onto my receipt! That is theft! Never going back to this store! This is the most horrible way to get extra money from random customers! Be aware of this and double check your receipts all the time!!!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great selection. The meat is very fresh and there is a window to watch the butchers working.
Veri nice lot of people who were there to help
Good for everything but produce...Ive been disappointed in the fresh herb section. They have fresh meats and everything else
This restaurant was one of the best store and restaurant, but now its one of the worse store and restaurant.. Overview The restaurant is in very poor condition, hygiene, and the food itsnot fresh also workers without cleaning and no concern for hygiene or the simplest factors of health care. I hpoe its come back as was as before.
The owner’s are very nasty ( specially maher ) rude and scamming customers
I have travelled all over and I get goodies from other countries and find that Jerusalem already has them Everytime. I love this grocery store! I have been shopping here for 2 decades now...
As always excellent. ..
Vegetables, fruits everything is old and prices are high. They did a renovation and guess wanted us to pay for their renovation of store. Not worth it .
Great staff. They are always kind and helpful and offer some of the best prices in town. Their customers have very diverse backgrounds and they accommodate everyone in a very respectful and welcoming way.
Different choice of meat, grocery and vegetables
Great variety! Store is messy. Employees walking around and joking instead of working. That can always be fixed. We will see the change hopefully when we return
Awesome place. Must try the hidden gem inside of this store. Awesome kababs and beef shawarma. Loved it. We always come here and never get disappointed
Overall worst place I’ve been to no price tags, dirty store, and in the back there was a homeless guy pooping in the herb produce section.
You can find any traditional foods
Damaged my car front grill with entrances of the parking lot and the prices are high
It’s like shopping at a place but I regret having to spend money here every time because they seem to just dislike me. I can’t seem to understand why. Just this strange vibe, i can’t help but wonder what exactly it is. I’m a Black, Women who identifies a Muslim. They lay my money down in the counter when giving it back to me, they speak ruff with me, it’s like they are doing me a favor when i shop there. It’s happened the few times I’ve traveled to Houston and this was the closes halal store to me.
There is a good variety of products, but the store is a little untidy. The in-store restaurant is, I regret to say, disgusting.EDIT (+1 star): They are improving..
Great 👍halal meats
Great price, good food, and lots of groceries.
**Warning: beware of dirty food and food poisoning**UPDATE: THE SHOP PEOPLE REPORTED THE PICTURES TO HIDE THEIR DIRTY FOOD!!!!!!!Today I ordered food at the place and while I was eating I found small bug / rouches in my food. I eat sometimes at this place but to find this type of hygiene issues is not acceptable!!!!This place must be checked by health department I do not know what they have been feeding customers and I do not want anyone else to experience what I happened to me or eat dirty unclean food and get food poisoning!!!this is an edit to my previous post on this place. I went to Jerusalem Hala multiple times and go there to eat lunch at their restaurant / food area. The main chef is a nice person and he takes good care of his customers but a clean and health issue is not something to stay quiet about. Very sad and unfortunate.
The place is filthy and dirty. Dust everywhere. To top it off, the cashier must think they are immune to covid because none were wearing masks. I had to spray myself with antiseptic alcohol when I got home.
Very nice people. You will find everything thing you need from an Arabic store.
They have good variety of middle eastern products...specially orange blossoms water use for my mexican pan de muerto
Watch out for snacks expiry date.
Good prices, and good customer service.
The best place I love this store 😍 I been going there since 2000 I like always fresh meat, restaurant food really yummy 😋Im Spanish but I love Jerusalem store
Found this store on a whim. Spices were plentiful. They have a Halal butcher shop on premises and i found Goat!!!! Will definitely be back.
Awesome place to find meats and international spices and foods for affordable prices. There is a shawarma deli that has amazing food.
Best place for Mediterranean groceries, international spicy, halal food, Turkish products. Very reasonable prices, and friendly staff
Poor customer services. You feel that these people are giving you everything free. I went there in 2019 the cashiers would never stop talking with each others while you are in the line. It takes long time to check out
The best
Lots of Middle Eastern grocies and so interesting. Good prices for authentic food.
Price was reasonable, but the store wasnt enough clean or organized!
Good food reasonable price 👌
This is a Mediterranean, Arabian and International food and Grocery Store.
Best deal on Halal meat Ive found, with no compromise on quality.
Wow !!! I’m pretty sure this store will be the most well-deserved candidate for the most dirtiest store on entire Houston area. If you respect yourself and your health please stay away from this place. Of course on the place like this you are not expected to get any nice costumer service and for me it was one the worst I’ve ever experienced. I wish I could give them zero. I will never recommend this store to anyone !!!
I shop there all the time for Halal meats and some imported goods. Great place.
Don’t trust them many thing expire and they sale it
I signed for Qurbani and I went to their store at noon in the day of Eid. They gave me Qurbani that looks like it has been slaughtered a day before or at Fajr time. Qurbani should be slaughtered just after Eid’s prayer to follow the Sunah not before that time.
Place smil badNo customer serviceOver priced all the timeCashier price things according to their own
The store is dirty...but the produce looks okay. I do recommend making sure to look at the dates on the products before purchasing. The place reminds me of stores in the middle east. Especially the cook in the back...dude doesnt wear gloves when serving you.
Best arabic spices and groceries.
Meet was fresh and reasonable prices
Exotic selection of coffee and teas. I love their herb and spice aisle. Downside: followed around in the store, the place could be better organized, the butcher shop smells gross (should be inspected by health department), and the produce section often has near-rotten vegetables - gross! I almost forgot to add, check the expiration dates on the packaged food items when you shop here. Since they dont do inventory regularly, old, expired goods often end up on the shelves ready for purchase.
This is definitely a one-stop-shop. They have everything. At a reasonable price. Why the 3-star rating? They lose one stars for poor cleanliness and another star for poor organization. That said their customer service is excellent!
Good place for Middle Eastern food and other Asian and Indo Pak and Turkish food
Great place and great customer service, every and anything you want they have ..
Excellent service and fresh products.... reasonable prices and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended
Love it here. Nice people everywhere you go in the store, no one bothers you. A LOT OF STUFF for good prices. If they can do something about the smell in the store, that would be great.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Apparently they think asking for help at the store is a crime and I should be put in prison. So here it goes:Asked one of the men to cut the meat but he refused so I asked him if someone else could help me. He literally ignored me 4 times while Im standing there where they cut the meat. After being ignored, I went to find someone else who said to go back to the meat area. I told him he refused to help me and he replied, go to the owner then, I dont know. I went to the owner and he was nice enough to help me and I mentioned to him that one of their meat guys refused to help me. The owner started to laugh and said, Oh, he is mentally unstable. If you give him 2 things to do, he cant handle it. He has some issues, he thinks he is the president. After that, I went to pay for the meat and the tag from some of the meat that I got cut was not there. The cashier lady asked me where the tag is and I replied he must have removed it by mistake. She handed the meat back to me and said go get the tag. I wanted to yell at her but instead I went looking for the guy and the precious tags. Couldnt find him and by then I was angry enough so I went back and told her I couldnt find him. She was not very happy and finally was able to get the price tag by asking another guy for help. The entire time she acted like I inconvenienced her and made her do SUCH a tough job.Never going back here. Apparently customer service is not a thing they believe in
Nice place 4 shopping.
Great varieties with great price. Loved the shop and planning to visit more regularly. Amazing stuff. Very friendly and helpful.
I used to go buy bread from Jerusalem because they got their bread from local bakers who have generations of experience. Now the only bread they sell is their own baked bread which is awful. Jerusalem was a great store 20 years ago. Now its dirty, products are expired, rude customer service. NEVER GOING BACK!
I absolutely love this place. The honey selection is incredible and the meat is very fresh. I shop here for meat any day before any franchise grocery store. The staff are fantastic. Thank you.
I love it here. You can find almost anything. To whit - on my last visit, I bought aromatic Earl Grey tea, 6 small tea glasses in a set, 3 mamoul moulds, and my favourite toothpaste (Colgate Herbal) which is very hard to find. Its a little crammed in there so finding things is a bit of an adventure, but this place is ALWAYS worth a visit :)
Good stuff.but very unorganized
What can I say that others havent? This establishment is so dirty and stinky that the actual have incense sticks stuck randomly on products. Be careful you dont step back into one and burn a hole in your clothes! They are so rude. They have the attitude that they are doing you a favor to allow you to shop there. I dont get it. They have completion just a block away in both directions. The negative reviews are not exaggerations! Any high evaluation are probably from friends or family.
Wow!! Someone needs to teach them what customer service means. Plus half of their stuff is expired. I’d rather pay more somewhere else.
Good place
I was sold old cheese that came out to be spoiled and they wouldnt refund the money. Just like everything else I bought there its always expired and the store is a mess.
This is the first time i am reading reviews about Jerusalem halal meats as I need to write a review with my bad experience. They overcharged me almost 3 times in last 2 months time frame. I may have been overcharged before but never pay attention to the bill. They sometime dont give itemized bill, thats where they got you. Yesterday my bill was $81 but my actual bill suppose to be $68. I left the store and driving back to home. At one light, happened to see the bill and found that they mentioned item which i never purchased. I went back, they apologized and gave me my $13 back. The store guy telling me, mistakes happens brother :-). what kind of store is this. Why people even go here. I never go to this store again. Hope this is helpful to some one.
This place is to junky an they have to much stuff an A lot of food is expired... Im not sure about thisplace.
On entering you will think you were transported to a bustling grocery in Cairo or Istanbul. Wander the aisles and enjoy the exotic products and labels, especially the huge selection of spices and teas. It is a wonder how all these items are gathered together here. A treasure is the hidden restaurant/deli/souvlaki stand in back. Dont be shy. The staff all speak english. Point and ask. The reward is AMAZING home cooking like your grandmas. Then, a few stores down, sit and relax at the bakery for Arabic coffee and a small Mediterranean sweet cake. You will be back. Guaranteed!!
Many items from different cultures are available for purchase African and Middle Eastern but the prices are bit expensive.
Great very professional
Great place to shop for halal foods. Plus there are for so many Mediterranean groceries as well other varieties of foods.
Food is good no menu
They have the best grocery prices and i always get fresh chicken and goat. Dont be fooled by the overly crowded shelves. this store is always busy and packed with people.plus they have a restaurant in the back. they also have restroom separate for men and women.
I think they have everything people required for their home.
The meat quality is very poor. The store has a lot of products, but they seem very old. The fresh bread was not cooked or burnt. It was actually uncooked dough in some places. Oberall, unclean and rundown place.
Very decent fresh cuts of meat
Big time ripoff Overpriced most of the thing cheating HARAM
Great place to shop.
Nice food. Kitchen needs some updates. Store has alot of variety of middle eastern products such as lipna, fresh pita bread bakery, all type of rice, all type of nuts. Food is ok but it supposed to be warm to a certain degree, otherwise, the bacteria start growing. Cashier is very nice and kind. With complete respect she took my money and handed me my change.
Good grocery store but they will cheat you with prices if you are not alert.A 16.99 rice bag was being sold at 21.99 and when I asked why they are not charging the marked price, they didnt bother to cross check and adamantly told me that it is 21.99. Finally when I tried to return then they accepted that it is 16.99.
Dont know about the store but the restaurant was good.
Theses guys have been around for a very very long time, at least they can do is invest in making the place look better and improve inventory control. The dude at the register seemed very rude when trying to strike up a conversation (place was not busy at all).
