I recently purchased a 2020 VNL740 from Vanguard in Houston. From finance to delivery it was a very smooth transaction and I was treated very well. The entire staff was very friendly and respectful. My salesman Chris, was knowledgeable of the product and if he didnt know off the top of his head he inquired and got the answer quickly. I would have given them 5 stars if both fuel tanks had a little fuel in them. I didnt like the fact the one tank was completely empty and the valves were closed. So after I fueled I had to open the valves. In my opinion, after spending $160k that isnt something that I should have to do. One other small issue was both service brake hoses on the rear axle were loose and leaking. Not a huge deal but definitely something that should not have been overlooked when prepping the truck for delivery. Again, Im very happy with my purchase and with Vanguard Truck Center in Houston and would without question recommend them to anyone looking to buy a Volvo.

Raul was very understanding of our specific situation regarding Covid and graciously spoke to the manager who then approved this one time exception. The service has always been excellent but this really spoke on their kindness, and understanding of the customers needs. Very poor and self-satisfied sales staff. they say one thing is actually completely different. said that there are 4 tracks that interest me. I flew in from Chicago. showed only one truck and did not even give a test drive to do. the rest of the tracks did not even show. I am shocked by this attitude towards clients
Service people will lie to your face. Gave me totally different numbers for a basic PM and that nearly doubled. Also they did repairs which the warranty covered after that they tried to charge me a ROAD TEST fee for those repairs. Who charges people to test their own work? Most ridiculous thing I heard in service. Take your business else where if you have the option.
On 07/24/19 I took truck in because I had hard starting issues and air in fuel. The reason I finally figured out about the air in fuel because the TEC dealership showed me how to look in fuel tank to verify this problem. Anyway I spent $6188.37 for cups and injectors. Well I took it back on 07/02/20 for the same issue. They changed 3,4, and the #5 injector and all the cups they say. Anyway I ran a load to Kansas City and had to bring truck back. I explained to them that under a heavy load sometimes that I get a hard start but not all the time. I left truck over the weekend and received a phone call from dealer with the mechanic and service person( a female). Anyway the mechanic said that the truck was starting fine . So I asked him did he check the tank for air bubbles he said no and that he was going to go check . Well a video was sent to me with no bubbles. I knew that this was not my truck. Anyway I drove from Huntsville,tx to go show them that in fact that bubbles was in the tank . The foreman came out and looked and bubbles was in the tank. Long story short they did not charge me or give me a receipt that my truck was in the shop. It smelled real fishy. No receipt and basically hiding this issue. Anyway my truck is getting worse . No power hard start getting worse. On my way back home and I guess I will try a smaller shop to Figure this problem out and install the cups and injectors properly. I could not believe the foreman did not offer any help. I have spent a lot of money with this dealership but a lot of old personal have left. Anyway this is my story and I will not be going back into this shop anymore. Sad very Sad .
Great trucks and professional sale approach but beware of use truck purchase here. Have your mechanic check your truck before purchase especially your camshaft. Bought a 2013 Volvo with cummin motor truck there recently 2 week ago had bad fuel mileage so i brought in to my personal mechanic to do a tune up found out camshaft pitted bad. And i did bought the truck as is so i already knew probably wont get much out of the dealer for help but sale man did mention any engine problem bring back So i call back to dealer to see any help but knowing in my heart probably wont get much out of them but still toke a shot at it but i was right. Nothing. Only reason for one star is cause of how they do there inspection of used truck before they sell. Especially for big well known company. There words was truck is operable and diagnostic came back good, clean truck good to sale We dont open the truck up unless we see or get a bad result back from diagnostic Again sale person that i dealt with was really professional so double check your truck before purchase. I move on pay for repair call it a day.Update: This was before anything was done to the truck. Option 1 bring in if we find problem we give u discount on repair. ( ya did a bad job on inspection already why would i trust on repair, also everyone knows dealer charge arm and leg on labor), 2nd option buy warranty but none was offer during purchase even when ask if there were any. 3rd option we buy back program (every one knows it already once u buy a vehicle and drive off the lot you wont get full amount back what u paid for it) LIKE I SAID UP TOP . BOUGHT AS IS SO ALREADY KNEW IT WAS A LONG SHOT OF GETTING ANYTHING OUT OF IT . Main concern was really how ya inspect the truck before ya put it up for sale. Also funny how i check on review none was reply back but mine was. No more update from me from now on so ya have a good day.
I am so impressed with the service and expertise of the mechanics, and my service advisor at Vanguard Truck Centers, Houston Volvo. I can tell you the staff and management go the EXTRA MILE! I took my truck there for service and in a couple of days, Milo my Service advisor and the expert mechanics had it running better than it had in a long time. I truly would and do recommend them to anyone that needs service on their truck done fast and right. I cannot thank this team enough.

Good service!! Most of the mechanics knowledgeable. Management needs improvement in terms of organisation and communication with (from what I saw) the employees and customers. Their body shop does a good work too.

WORHIEST Volvo dealer in USA. Im driving Volvo for 5 years,own for 3. I saw almost all of them.the parts dept will keep you wait for 40 min in a line, it will take an hour to get out from there, even if you come to buy a simple belt. for some reason it took too long for them to search any part in their system. and they ALWAYS act like they dont care!!!
I called, got the run around for 10 minutes. Finally got in touch with someone with an ounce of care just to be forgotten about...for 4 hours. I just called someone else for the help needed and was told only 1 hour of a wait. I guess I shouldve read the reviews first, wouldve gotten help long before now. My suggestion? Pay attention tothese reviews, this many drivers cant be wrong.
My truck been here for 8 days still no time frame no call back are anything..Stay away driver. They tell you its going to be fixed in a couple of days then lie to u.Do they know we losing money by having our truck sitting while they gaining there money stay away drivers..
They want to charge 2 hrs of labor for windshield replacement. Everywhere else it 30min to 1 hr tops. Outrageous! After fighting and asking for discount they finally dropped it down 40$, but still nearest Safelite could of done this 76$ cheaper. And few hours later I found a local glass guy who could of changed my windshield 300$ cheaper. 140$ instead of 440$ bill. Never again! 😡

Stay away from this shop! The hood cable replacement is taking more than one week and is still not ready yet. A problem as simple as this can’t be resolved in a timely manner. I do not recommend visiting this shop.
Was shopping for schocks absorbers. this dealership was the most expensive for same parts. other dealers front shocks 65 each this one 80 easch. other dealers rear shocks 112 each this one quoted 146 each. Go figure
DO NOT TAKE YOUR TRUCK TO THIS DEALERSHIP. I read the reviews prior to going to this dealer and gave them the benefit of the doubt. The negative reviews about this place are true. I took my truck there for an oil change and when I got it back it was running hot. I brung it back to them to rectify the issue only to be charged $423.00 and my truck is still running hot.After I got it back the second time my trailer air supply was getting no air. Turns out the emergency trailer air valve button got pushed in. After they removed the piece pushing it in the air was normal. After I declined theyre services since there was no issue the tech unplugged the trailer air supply release button behind the dash and told me the line ruptured.I told him to fix my truck and stop playing games with me and he fixed it the right way. Good thing I tested it out before I left. These guys will create a problem with your truck just to get business. STAY AWAY FROM VANGUARD VOLVO OF HOUSTON. Ive never seen anything like this place. DO NOT GO THERE.
Stay away from this dealership, I bought a 2013 volvo with 359000 miles. I bought the truck here in September and I started having issues with the coolant system when i started working. After a long time asking and trying to fix that the mechanic told me that the issue was the Head. I contacted the sale man and asked if they offer any specials or discounts if I fix the truck in their service. He said that will check with his service manager but he never responded back to me.So i have to spend more than 15000$ to fix the engine. They also had deleted DPF codes from the dashboard just to sell.It has to change the DPF filter too.

I would not recommend anyone coming to this location lazy people will always over charge you and even if you need simple oil change you have to wait at least one day for these people so they could change the oil. Worst Volvo dealership in the texas area.
Labor rates are thru the roof. Originally quoted $3800 for repairs. Then after all said and done $6800. When driver picked up truck all of our chains and binders padlocked into headache rack were stolen. Service manager said they were not responsible for the truck while at their shop and only have cameras facing their trucks and not the customers. Will make the trip to Beaumont for all future repairs of our trucks.
Bought a brand new truck from them. Engine warning light and ECU warning came on on the way home. AC stopped working next day after purchase. Took the truck back to them but because ECU error code was no longer on they refused to fix even though there were 29 instances of the error when they plugged up the computer. Everything they can do to take your money they will. Will never buy another new truck from them again. 2 years later ECU code reduced engine output. I had to spend $1200 to have the problem fixed. Contacted Volvo corporate office advised had issue since day 1 purchase of new truck she told me they cant fix whats not broken. But before the warranty was up Id taken it in to be fixed and there were 2900 instances of the error code. She had no response. So $1200 to fix something that was broken on a new truck. The AC system continued to give me issues I spent $2000 on that by year 2. I love the Volvo platform. The 730 and 780 series trucks. I have 1 of each I drive the 730 because I pull flatbeds. But the workmanship, warranty and people seem to suck. Both trucks have Cummins engines. In retrospect when I have an engine issue dealing with Cummins is always great.
I wish I could give these guys a zero star. These guys even don’t deserve Google’s one star. Totally dishonest people and operating very unprofessional.Took my truck there for the engine light code, they kept it like a hostage for a week and came up with unnecessary solutions that costed me a ton of money.Total bunch of liars gathered here that confront you with attitude and rude manner every time you go there.Customer service is a nightmare, after 10 continues calls finally you get a hold someone that hangs up on you.This facility needs a major overhaul and revamp in terms of techs and management.Please don’t take your truck here for repair at any cost otherwise you will be miserable!
After receiving estimate tried calling for over an hour. Left messages and emails. No reply at all. Finally just went to retrieve the truck. Just brought the truck in for a purple seal. Which is the filler tube seal into the block. A 10.31 part they wanted to charge 1500. Estimate was for 4400.00. The back up light wanted 110.00 the blank switch covers are 1.62 a piece needed 3 wanted 284. To put them in. A few other small things was upcharged. So in the end the bill was 345. For Diagnostics. Did nothing to fix the truck. Take your truck somewhere else. This place has terrible customer service.

I have use both their shops one in Katy one in Houston they are both terrible They will go over your truck right now everything they can find and then refused to fix your truck and less they fix everything including a flat tire this has to be the worst shop I have ever been and I will never use either one of them ever again When I took my truck to the Houston shop they had a bill for $5800 to fix my truck I went to Laredo and had my truck brakes for 3200 when I went to Katy and had my truck in their shop they had a bill for $2700 I went to Volvo in Dallas and had my truck fixed for $1018 the place in Houston is terrible grossly overcharged I see your response and you act like I have all day sitting around your shop why you climb all over my truck I ask you to fix certain things and you refuse you insist on fixing everything or fixing nothing this is happened to me numerous times at your shop and this is only reason I even wrote a review People need to know that when they come to your shop they are going to spend all day doing nothing and get handed a large bill

Only deal with parts department, but they are not very attentive to customers. They expect you to have the part numbers when you finally get to counter, and seem put out if they have to look it up.
