This is a great place to shop for Mediterrenean groceries, Middle Eastern & other International ingredients. They have a Take- Out food counter inside.. with a variety of Sweet desserts ! They do make fresh bread and you can see them on the go.They also have a good amount collection of International wines. Their branch in downtown Houston carry more wine list though. This one I went to is along Westheimer.
One of my favorite places for years, to buy all the best, from different countries, food and drinks in general and special gifts too! And for my taste, the best of Mediterranean food! And the best part, you can get lost in the huge corridors full of delicious products, with an over the top quality!!Definitely my place, to spend super pleasant hours, with super kind and friendly service
Absolutely fantastic place! So many stuff from Europe and Middle East. True culinary experience.
An amazing store. The atmosphere is awesome. The selection of foods from the East, the Mediterranean is the best that I have found in TX. The service is great. People are friendly and seem quite happy to work there. It is very diverse in culture, shoppers and employees. The prices are great. I paid half the price that I usually pay for kosher or halal meat. They also have items for the kitchen, a bakery, deli, and much more. Go, you will not be disappointed.
Amazing store, huge choice of fresh baked bread, chocolate from all over the world, vegan and vegetarian food, gluten-free items. The pita bread is amazing, we also like to try different chocolate all the time, the watermelon juice and grapefruit juice is a must try!! Big big store, has basically everything. Highly recommend, 10 stars
Always a great place to get specialty Mediterranean and Middle Eastern foods. Great options and lots of in-house made foods and pitas. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
BE CAREFUL!! check your bill after you paid, it happen to me and my dad, by “ mistake” they charge extra money, my bill was $113 and they charge me $180..my dad’s bill was 86$ they charge him $157 when it happen twice already, I said SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS PEOPLE!
I heard many positive reviews about the store. However, I am really disappointed!! We got the fresh lamb sausage, it is disgusting!! It doesnt even taste or look like meat!! After 30 mins on stove, it didnt even change color. When we tasted it, it felt like ground grains and spices and it doesnt even contain any meat!! We discarded the whole thing as we felt its unsafe to eat it. Really disappointed and will never ever buy any meats from there. NOT RECOMMENDED
Good supermarket. Excellent Quality of feta chesse, pita Bread, olives and spices. Very fresh food. They have a great variety of tea, disserts and international foods.
The guy in the register extremely rude. I thought he will punch me. But market is good. Still I will go there.
Foods is definitely one of my absolute favorite places .. I have even taken dates there .. and they thought it was a special date because of how special of the place is.The quality of the hot food makes it a wonderful meal for lunch or dinner. The fresh fruits and vegetables are of the best quality anywhere. If you are looking for any type of special food or ingredients from anywhere in the world. Theres even a second floor with more amazing items .. including cigars, and wines from all round the world. One of the best perks of Phoenicia, is free parking in the parking deck. Thats a great reason to visit anywhere downtown Houston.

My boyfriend and I stopped to see what they had in the deli and found some lamb wraps that were phenomenal. They were at a great price too.
Overall the store is clean and neatly organized. Inventory is stocked to capacity with only a few items out of stock. There is a HUGE assortment of international products available here, items from all over the Middle East and Asia. The checkout lines are a bottleneck, expect to stand in line over 15 minutes in order to pay for your items. No express lane either, so it doesnt matter if youre there for 2 items or a cart full of 100 items.
Always have everything. And very helpful people to find it. :)
I went in to get a quick bite to grab and go and they did not disappoint me. I went to the deli and bought a rotisserie chicken and a small side of seasoned potatoes for $10. It was amazing.
Best place ever! Everything I need that I cant get anywhere else. Wonderful deli, beautiful bakery. The staff is friendly and helpful. Even the fellow shoppers are more polite than at other grocers. The staff has no problem helping people who speak different languages. You could spend your whole trip there without saying a word and do just fine. Best for last... perfect pitas made fresh!
When will the owner of Phoenicia realizes that his customers are his only asset??? He is such a rude man, completely unfriendly, and has the worst customer service you can ever imagine. I went with my wife to buy preserved artichokes in glass jars. They usually have them on the far side by the isle of the fridges and freezers. This time when we went we couldn’t find them. Apparently they changed the location for some odd reason. We walked all the isles and still couldn’t locate them. Suddenly my wife spotted the owner by the meat section and asked him where the jarred artichokes were. He looked at her in an angry way and yelled “GO LOOK FOR THEM” you’ll find them. My wife was stunned at that response and felt so insulted that the owner himself would give a customer such a horrible answer about a product we want to buy. My wife walked away very politely and didn’t bother to respond to him and told me let’s leave. The owner is rude and we will never shop there again. I shared my story with many of my family and friends who occasionally shop at Phoenicia and all shared similar stories about how rude the owner and his wife are to their customers. I don’t know how this family remains in business while their customers routinely dump them to shop at their competitors. This is what we do now. I shop at Jerusalem Halal Meat, Medina, and Mecca all located on Hillcroft between Richmond and Westheimer. They all carry the same products but most importantly know how to treat their customers and appreciate their business. The owners of Phoenicia need to learn the basic element of any business which customer service. When you meet the owners, you won’t even receive the word hello or bye from them. We stopped shopping at all the Phoenicia locations in Houston due to their below zero customer service and the insulting behavior towards their customers. It is truly their loss nit ours. Some day when they become desperate for customers they will realize how much they lost by being rude and unwelcoming!!
This store has coffee from all over the world and sweets from all over the world and cheeses 🧀 it has everything. Great atmosphere you never want to leave.
UPDATE-Thank you for honest reply. I am changing my rating. We love their pita bread, hummus and the falafels. They are really delicious and very fresh. The only observation is at the food counter where they keep packed raw beef packets. Please move them to other places. Some of the staff are really friendly and some are reserve. When you say hi they don’t respond.
I fell in love with this place! It reminded me of Beans and Barley in Milwaukee but with way more variety! The food looks amazing, we tried their Baklava and it was so delicious! Staff is friendly, lots send lots of specialty foods to find there! I was in heaven looking at everything... We were there with our children this time but next time I want to go just with hubby on a date. Trendy, chic, clean, its big and yet it has this homey, cozy feel to it. Love it, love it!
I stopped here looking for the cafe where I hadwas meeting friends . I thought the cafe was inside. I wandered around looking for there was a wide range of spices and foods not commonly found . The stote was clean everyone had a mask . The standout was an African American man named Jerry who went above and beyond . He saw me wandering through the store. He offered assistance, up to including walking me to the cafe. I inspected prouduce and fruit of which the variety and price not usually found. Jerry is the reason I will go cross town to return.
After 8 years of being a loyal customer to Phoenicia (Downtown & Westheimer locations) today I officially am separating from and ending my service to this company. Phoenicia was a great place with live action/events and all types of food. It has changed quite tremendously from how it was 8 years ago and through the years leading to today. Not saying that it has become a bad place but the quality and experience is not the same. As much as I hate to say it, I feel that Phoenicia has witnessed its peak already. I do hope for a positive future for this company and through the remainder of its continuation but after today I have decided to pull the plug and end my 8 years of being a loyal and great customer to Phoenicia. I will miss the staff/cooks/servicemen here and I do wish the best for all.
Saturday, April 17 around 8:30pm, my family and I went to see what interesting food they may have. We walked in with no greeting. It took a few minutes to get any service. We said we needed a minute to look at menu/food. The employee went to drive through window. When she came back, I told her what I wanted. I could tell clear as a sunny day, we were bothering her. The other employees didn’t care to service us either nor looking our way. Maybe because my family and I have that deep melanin. “Black” folk. Maybe because it was close to closing. Whatever the case may be, my family and I did not feel welcomed.
Rude staff member, Silwan not all, after lifting mask on the 10th, I went in without one and was told that I cant be served without a mask.. I said I understand and asked they leave the stuff at the cashier so I can get one from the car, came back 20 seconds after and was informed I have go back and get the items again
Great grocery to get your healthy food-freak on. Olive oil from various countries, cucumber or black bean salad, nan/pita bread. Plenty to see and choose from.
Most of the food is expired don’t buy anything from this store they mixed the new meat with the old one be careful there price is too high for trash stuff If there is less than one star i will give them
If you stopped there try their restaurant around the corner, their Beef Shawerma is awesome. Prices are ok place is ok but tables can be more cleaner. Thanks for the people serving the food.
Great things, good people and restsurent also.
I think you guys should give it a try if or when ur in da area
Wow. This is huge. Specially the bakery and deli sections are wonderful. I would like to see a store of this kind in Dallas.
Best place to find products from your home country that you cant find anywhere else. Love this place.
Got some sugar free pistachio baklava that was amazing.
I enjoy coming here for the pita bread and desserts. They also have a nice selection of ready made items. We usually come here first whenever we are planning a picnic
This place is great! My wife and I enjoy cooking all kinds of cuisine. When were looking for something out of the ordinary theres a good chance we might find it here.
I was looking for Zabiha Halal brisket and this place did not disappoint. It has a wide variety of Zabiha Halal meat and the price is very competitive. I enjoyed watching the fresh bread sliding off the conveyors. Fresh produce is also available in abundance. Lots of Mediterranean food products and I think there is also a wholesale section as well. Well worth the one hour drive.
Checked their website to confirm a product was in stock, it shows in stock. Drove across town to purchase it... it wasnt in stock. I had a basket full of groceries to buy before being informed the main product I drove across town for wasnt in stock. Left the basket and walked out. Will not return.
Really good store for different varieties of products, youll be definitely able to find any type of grocery, drinks and so on in here for good prices. Its well organized, has signs between isles telling what is what. It also has small cafe at this store but i was always busy to try food there)) what i like most that they sell buckwheat at this store. Good selection of tea. Also they have hookah isle where you can buy a hookah. Overall good store for shopping
Super clean, great variety of foods, friendly worker also ready to assist you, food is delicious, bakery delicious. I live across town will be making drives to this location often really worth it.
Best place for middle eastern desserts! love the wide selection of food.
Expect to wait in a very crowded line at the register for a very long time. They have a sign at the entrance about wearing a mask, but, dont enforce it.Inside, the lines to check out are the incredibly long and if you get stuck with someone 2 feet away for 20+ minutes, dont be surprised. I wasted an hour here and walked out empty handed.
The store seems poorly managed because there are a lot of things out of place and not seemingly in the correct section. Also the employees are not really that helpful with finding things and have to get assistance from the same 3 people that know where things are. However, there is a huge variety of foods and stuffs from this store. i can get a lot of ethnic foods i cannot get anywhere else except back home in Romania.
Every delicious thing under the sun can be found here.
I ❤️ Phoenicia speciality Store. I can find everything I need to cook delicious food. Most items are whole foods and very healthy for you from around the world.I love the different spices and unique snacks and more, Yummy
Amazing store with a wonderful selection of middle eastern foods. A number of years ago when my Egyptian father-in-law was visiting from Ohio I took him here. He was like a kid in a candy store. He told me it was the best Middle Eastern grocery hed ever been to. I heartily agreed. Great place.
Wonderful market, Mediterranean deli, bakery, etc. The cheeses, meats, tabouli, dolmas, pastries, breads and fruits here are without equal in Houston. It is a treat to shop in the market. Make sure to go to one of the 3 counters for a treat; scratch made pastry, a fresh wrap with delicious meats grilled to order, or my favorite, cheeses and homemade dolmas of 3 varieties, etc, etc. There is so much to see and shop for here that I simply dont have time to write about it all.
I appreciate if they limit the time of restocking the shelves with those carts to certain hours. Those carts are running through the store as if its a highway and beeping and its sooo annoying. They are all over store regardless of the time of the day.The last thing you want to worry about while shopping in this store is being run over by one of those giant carts!
This is my favorite location since I moved to Houston.Their team is professional and passionate.Their selection is wide and their Lebanese products are always on top.Credits to the management and the entire team!
This is an excellent location to purchase Mediterranean groceries, Middle Eastern, and other international ingredients. Within, there is a Take-Out food counter with a range of sweet desserts!
Great selection for mediterranean local brands. I am Turkish and I can find everything I am looking for. I love that they have a wide choice and selection. It is clean and well maintained. The only thing to advise is to make sure you do look at the expiration dates as they can be close by the date. I understand that it takes time etc. but maybe the store can have a clearance section or sticker on them like other grocery stores do...
Fabulous pastries, I bought a bunch. Im a White Texas Outlaw & this is a. very fun place to visit. Lots of exotic foods. Great lamb. Over the years Ive shopped here many times and have never been disappointed. Only complaint? The employees are not friendly. If youre shopping for the first time here, drop $100 bucks, your tummy and taste buds are worth. Ps if you want provisions for when the SHTF & and macro inflation hits shop here first. When you get old like me the only big joy in life is tasty food & Phoenicia does shopping right.
Great selection of international foods. Small crowded store reminiscent of Mediterranean markets. I buy French cookies and European chocolate there.
Very cool store good bakery selection
They have a great selection but customer service is problematic. A basic Hello and Thank You is standard; courtesy when its time for a customer to pay can go a long way in making them feel like coming back.
You will find halal beef, fresh olive, etc. great grocery store.
Travel and food are close by, this market is an experience to have in Houston! Take a tour and taste the adventures.
The best place to find all kinds of international food! They made their pita breads daily from scratch, so delicious! Hummus and baklava too! Yum!
Horrible and rude costumer service. The deli worker was extremely dismissive and did not want to cut the meat we asked for. They gave ridiculous excuses and we ended up having to leave without any of the deli meat we needed.
I always love getting their bakery and pastry and for sure all the Mediterranean treasures plus Turkish delight you cant beat that.
Fantastic Middle Eastern Market with a nice bakery, will definitely be my go to when needing stuff.
This place is like an international foods version of Willy Wonkas. The sights, sounds, and smells of foods from all across the globe are a treat, especially for your tastebuds. Whether youre getting some of that soda you fell in love with down in South America, picking up some ingredients for your favorite Persian dish, or just grabbing some fresh in-house made cabbage rolls for dinner, you are in for an experience. 6 out of 5 stars!
This isnt your run of the mill chain coffee house. Phoenicia coffee house offers quality crafted coffee beverages and the middle Eastern menu offerings are amazing. Lots of gourmet baklava and pastry treats This is my third visit here and I am sold!!! The set up is professional and service is quick amd efficient. I am so happy I discovered this gem.😊 I had the caramel macchiato decaf with soy milk and my husband tried the Turkish coffee with cardamom. We always try something different on every visit!!!
My favorite place to find authentic and unique treats. Bakery always has beautiful deserts. The aroma of fresh breads and seasonings hits you the moment you enter the building.
It was great love this grocery store, took my mom there for her today for first time and she loved it. Being Italian, and Greek she grabbed alot of Italian and Mediterranean foods she hasnt seen in years
You should not miss this store. It has all food stuff from around world. You can find one of the most amazing selection of teas in Houston. While you are at the store try some food from the in-store grill. The deli area is filled with amazing selection of meat products. Napoleons are available in the bakery area and are one of the best in the whole Houston. Plan for a bout 2 hours of visit if this is your first time trip to this food market.
Great store...go there if you want real food!
I just love this place. Great selection of items I cant get anywhere else. The delie is amazing. Easy to get in and around.
Clean and easy to find. Everything is fresh and they have great breads.
Love this place. Very wide selections of Mediterranean grocery, freshly made pita seems daily. Lots of Halal options. It meet all my Lebanese meals ingredients. My only con is that they are a little more pricey on some things.
They forced me to buy a mask for a dollar even though I had a face cover. This is not the way a customer should be treated. They were also rude when I was asking what was the difference between face cover and the mask. To me they are not grocery store but a mask monopoly business. (They said: buy the mask or get out of the store.) I believe there are other customers that have experienced the same.
This place does not provide mask policy. Some cashiers and workers wear masks, but many do not.
Phoenicia market has great selection of products and amazing fresh bread and pita.
This place does not follow mask policy. Some cashiers and workers wear masks, but many dont.
Great selection of international products. Cant wait to go back
First time back since the pandemic began and the selection is still great. I found everything I wanted and more.
A little more crowded than Id prefer, but a pleasant shopping trip nonetheless. I love the variety and unique food items. Havent been in a few years, but glad to see it remain in business and always a worthwhile place to experience. 😊
Nice and best place for finding any specialty foods in Houston
Best shawarma Ive had in Houston
Love the variety of produce. Products from around the world.
Great cappuccino with a reasonable price. Cinnamon on top was a nice touch.
Phonecia. One of the b at local Houston treasures. I have been going here for years at least once week. If you love fine and near East/middle Eastern foreign foods this is you one stop shop. They also carry halal meat. Pls they have an extensive cold deli with salads and meat. They also have a bakery with a variety of foods to eat.
