I just purchased my first scooter from Stephen and I cant say enough awesome things about my experience!I gave Stephen the payment to hold the scooter last week and he explained the next steps in detail. I didt take it home that day because I had plans and didnt have time to deal with logistics.Today was the day for me to pick it up and it was ready to go when I arrived. Stephen literally walked me through everything about the scooter and then took me out to the street next to his business to let me practice before taking it out on the high traffic roads. He took his time with me even though he had a customer walk in after me and never broke his attention with me except to tell the other customer he would be with him soon. I was a little nervous about the ride home while on the way to pick up my new ride but seriously, his explanations and tips made it so easy and I was riding like it was second nature on my way home.I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Scootersmith and wouldnt hesitate to purchase from him again.
The owner was incredibly accommodating and helpful! We went to buy an electric scooter for my dad’s birthday and the ones he had ordered to stock hadn’t arrived yet, so he offered to let us use the one he had bought for himself until they arrived. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a Vespa-esqe scooter or a new electric scooter.
Great knowledgeable folks who are willing and happy to help. We had a few issues but worked through them and I am a very happy customer. They wont try to sell you on everything, only what you need. I recommend this place, and Stephen is a good guy. 👍
I would definitely recommend Scootersmith, I bought my first scooter from them about a year ago and being that I was scooter illiterate they were very helpful answering all types of questions that I had and guiding me throughout the buying process. Since then I keep going back for the scooter maintenance and to check out accessories, new scooters, etc. I would buy from them again.
Great service; great work - runs like new.
He is awesome! So helpful and very understanding to a new beginning riders questions
We bought two scooters here and love this place. Super helpful staff that gave us quick lesson on how to operate the scooter and the differences between the scooters we were looking at. Once we purchased the scooters they were quickly delivered and again another great training session on best practices to ride. Would definitely come back for all my future scooter needs!
Keep doing amazing work. yall are noticed.
I have a Kymco scooter and I found this wonderful establishment on line, read the reviews and regardless of a few unfortunate reviews decided to take a chance with with scooter smith. All I have to say is, that Steve and his co-employee were extremely nice, pleasant & helpful to me. My scooter had been sitting for several years in my garage and they got it running and I would at this point refer others to give them your business. Lastly, it was not expensive-which surprised me. Thanks Steve and fellow worker. My apologies, because I can’t recall the other gentleman name right now. Thanks u guys are good in my book. Keep up the great customer service & work!
Extremely rude. Will never grace his shop.
Looking to buy a scooter for my wife, and I went to Scootersmith and had the pleasure meeting Stephen Smith, he is very knowledgeable about the Scooters he sells and I think I have made a decision on the model I want to get for my wife. I recomend anyone looking to buy a Scooter, come and visit Scootersmith before you buy anywhere else.
We got my moms Scooter here. The guys here are great! They were so kind and helpful and communicative through the whole process. And they take care of everything.... tax, title, license, the scooter itself, luggage box and they installed it...they even provide the insurance! Its a one stop shop. They made me feel very confident about getting her scooter here...they took care of her and I feel like they will take care of her if she has any issues and I feel like shes in good hands with them...her scooter is in good hands with them and I would definitely recommend anyone that wants to buy a scooter to buy it here I dont work for them - I dont know them personally...other than this exchange...but gosh I am really happy.
I purchased a scooter on an impulse buy about a year and a half ago from scooter smith. Not even two days after i purchased the new scooter i was left stranded on the side of the road by it. They said a gas line had came undone and caused the issue. Upon purchase I was advised that i must run the scooter at least once a week or it could have starting issues. I was very diligent about doing this and then a few months into ownership it would not start. Of course i had to pay them to pick it up and look at in in which case they said it was an issue of the scooter sitting idle for too long. I insisted this was not the case, but they checked the battery and scooter and it was from the gas sitting idle too long and the gas went bad. Fast forward a few more weeks and this happens again-again i get the same story this must be my fault and bad gas even though i knew i had run it at minimum once a week. I end up giving the scooter away to a friend who lives in the country and tell them it is unreliable and to be careful with it. He brings it to a shop near his house who takes one look at it and says there is a serious battery issue here. The battery was replaced and its ridden like a champ for months since then (even not being started for over a month at a time) Long story short i shelled out money for them to repair something that should have been under warranty that was never actually even repaired. They were nice and confident in what they were saying, but the facts are that a new battery has fixed the situation and it never had anything to do with gas or not being started (this was a brand new scooter). Weary to buy or repair here.
*****Slimey owner*****Price to fix our scooter came in well above the original estimate even tho there were no surprises with what needed to be fixed. I also caught them charging for something that wasnt even broken. The owner was very apologetic as Im sure he felt embarrassed getting caught.READ THE REVIEWS ABOUT MECHANICAL SERVICES. Most are negative. There are two types of mechanics. Honest ones and dishonest ones. Wouldnt trust this one at all. Do yourself a favor and find someone legitimate!Personally I would not recommend buying a scooter from this guy either. Especially not a used one. Hes very nice in person and will try to tell you everything you want to hear!
Friendly and helpful owner with a good stock of scooters. Repairs also done.
Great service over there. I wish they were open 7 days a week but I understand. Got my oil change, some other things looked at and a horn install. Steven is awesome!
Owner is shady and keeps no records of his work, will refuse to keep his word once he gets in to deep, denial is his best skill
I bought my first Genuine Scooter from Scootersmith back in 2007. A Buddy 125, I now have over 15,000 miles on it and it still runs great. Any time I have ever had questions or needed help, the friendly staff at the shop were great in helping me. I now have 3 scooters from here (Buddy125, Buddy 170i and Stella 150 2T), all super reliable. I Couldnt imagine buying anywhere else. Ive been a customer for 8 years and counting, and highly recommend this place to anyone looking to find reliable, 100mpg transportation.
The folks at Scootersmith have been running a great scooter retail and repair shop in the Heights for quite some time. If you are thinking about buying a scooter, or possibly trading your current one in on a different one, stop by. They are enthusiastic about the Houston scooter community and love to help get new people riding a scooter in Houston.
Quoted me a price and was accurate when I got the final bill. Reliable and affordable.
Awesome place! Friendly staff ... Great service! Highly recommend all scooter lovers to visit. Got my Kymco serviced here and it starts and runs like new again. I will be back!
Best service to get scooters and fair shop prices
Stephen helped me with a few issues I had on my scooter. He was prompt and knowledgeable. I appreciate him and the staff there. Just check the hours! Will return if I have anything else that needs work.
Large assortment of scooters/mopeds and friendly staff.
We bought a scooter from Steve about two months ago. It was an amazing experience. He had the knowledge to help us pick the right scooter for us and taught us a lot about home maintenance for those just in case moments. We love our scooter and will do business with Scootersmith for years to come. Just in case youre wondering we bought a Genuine Scooter ~Blur 220i.
This place sells nothing but scooters. So they really know their product. Bought a Kymco. Had an incredible experience with Chase. His knowledge and passion shows. He wasnt pushy. He showed a lot of patience and happily answered my endless questions. The service was top notch. He personally delivered my scooter within a few hours and seemed genuinely happy that I ended up with one that was perfect for me. The scooter has been nothing but fun. I have a feeling that this is just my first of many happy experiences with Chase at Scootersmith.
I asked Steve to fix a loose headlight on my Stella scooter. I assumed he would order the correct part and replace the broken item. He didnt. He put a huge screw through the exterior of the frame into the light fixture to hold it securely in place. I also had him replace a battery. After a short while the bike stopped starting. I asked him to replace the starter since it wasnt starting on a new battery. Over a week later, he called stating that I didnt need a new starter, but that my battery did not have water. When I explained to him that he was the one who installed the battery he became belligerent and said he would NEVER put in a battery without water. He then demanded that I pick up my bike immediately and pressed me for a time that I was going to pick up my bike. His hours are very hard to work with, noon to 6, so I told him I would get in there as soon as I could and quickly ended the conversation because he was being so rude and aggressive. He then called back and left a message which said he was going to start charging me a storage fee. Really? It took you longer to diagnose my waterless battery than it has been sitting there waiting to be picked up. Wow. With his flash temper and questionable work quality, I am not surprised to read on Google reviews that others have a court case with this guy.I went to pick up my scooter on a rainy day in Houston. I would not have normally ridden on a rainy day, but he was so mean that I wanted to be done with him for good. Subconsciously, he must feel some culpability in this, because he did not charge me to replace the battery - however he yelled at me outside of his storing stating that I just stole from him. Seriously, Steve? I am a middle-aged housewife who likes to ride a scooter to play tennis - do you think I am devising this plan to steal a scooter battery? He claims that I somehow emptied the battery of water. I take my bike in to have the battery changed - I dont touch the mechanics of any part of the bike. Why on earth would I remove that battery to deplete it of water. Then to shout at me that I just stole from you? Crazy!
Steve did a good job by me, charging us about $200 for repairs to a Chinese Jackal bike that was having trouble starting. He also repaired the kick start while he was at it. He advised us to maintain it as best we can and to come by when it finally wears out to get a longer lasting Taiwanese model. I was pretty happy with that suggestion.Since Scootersmith got the bike running, I have been doing oil changes and routine maintenance elsewhere, so I cant speak much for that. But I think we will be coming back to get our replacement.
H of Houston cant get 2 tires delivered in 5 days.... Immediately out the door with 2 tires from Scootersmith. Thank you and I will be seeing you again and again and again. DM
Stopped by to pick a few things up for my scooter today and got helped by Steve. He took the time to answer all my questions and even installed my gear no charge. I was quite impressed.
Bought a Buddy over a year ago and love it. Steve and Chase have always been super friendly helpful. Love these guys.
Nice guys. Good information. Got a nice Genuine scooter and love riding around town. Better customer service than the small vespa dealer in town.
Very informative, the gentleman I spoke with was derect and to the point. Showing me that quality is the future of scooter travel.
Ths place is great. There was a no pressure approach when I walked in and both Stephen and Chard are very knowledgeable when it comes to scooters. After a few days of paperwork, I ended up leaving with a scooter and a great experience.
I was skeptical at first and really thought they wouldnt keep their promise that they could get my scooter running again in under 3 hours. Sure enough they did and it was cheaper than I expected and half the price of the quote from Gearheads Cycle Shop. Great customer service. Thanks!
Spent 300 dollars the last two times to repair the scooter. The first time was to put a carburetor and ignition in. It stopped after the first drive home. Took it in again and paid another 3 hundred and it stopped running again. Turns out this company glued a broken bolt together twiceGlued!! They charged me for replacing, not gluing. Anyway, they don’t keep records if you pay cash. The three times we were there, they could not provide records of previous repairs. What goes around...the IRS will cone around eventually and catch these guys.
The lack of service at this establishment was appalling. They were rude, arrogant and condescending.I have since read other reviews about this place on social networks including local social networks. Seems they are more concerned with the greed for money then they are their customers or service. They may have been great at one time. Now they seem to headed for closer. You cant keep this up and expect to stay in business for long. This is a big city look elsewhere. I will never go back and tell everyone I know to stay away. I work to hard for my money to do business with an establishment like this.
Good scooter store in the heights. Great service. They sell new and used. They also do repairs
Talked to Steven today, he is versed on the ins and outs of scooters as he has been working on and selling them for quite some time. Look forward to buying a scooter soon. One of the only scooter places around the Houston area. Found him only after driving to the non-existant vespa dealer. He is working on becoming a vespa/piaggio dealer which is very cool. For now, he has turned me on to a Kymco Like 150 and I cant wait be a two wheel rider
So glad to finally find a scooter repair shop that will work on my Aprilia, and is affordable and honest. Gave me guidance on what I should repair soon and what can keep for now. Theyre in this for the Long haul, and they were actually open early! Ill be back, even though its a long haul from my home.
I purchased a buddy 170i here not too long ago and I have to say it was a very enjoyable experience. The staff helped me pick a scooter for my needs versus just trying to sell me the most expensive one. Walked out the same day with my bike and have been coming back for my routine maintenance needs. This shop is by far the most helpful scooter place in town. Thanks Chase and Steve!
Nice staff. Great service.
This guy was supposed to come and tow my bike to fix it and he stole it because it wasnt chained more than likely to resell it. He is super shady.
Lots of cool scooters. Not a fancy show room or anything, but you can get anything serviced there.
Needed a good bit of work on my Kymco scooter and they had it picked up from my place, replaced the tires, oil, belt and rollers within 24 hrs for a very fair price. Thanks to Marcus for the great service. I look forward to shopping for a new, larger Kymco with you soon.
Great place to look into if youre planning to buy a scooter
The guy was very helpfulI got the SYM Fiddle 200i
What a joke. The owner is rude and has a real snotty attitude. He cant be bother to provide good customer service because he is too busy gossip about other customers. He is too vague about repairs and acts as if there is no where else for you to go. (Like you are at his mercy.) That is just not true there are other places in this city and they will get my money instead of him.
Friendly and knowledgeable even when I bought a scooter elsewhere (craigslist)
Great place to buy or service your scooter.
Awesome! Friendly staff and quick turnaround. Thanks guys!
As a new scooter owner (completely ignorant to scooters prior), they have been above and beyond amazing with service, assistance, and not making me feel dumb when I asked simple questions.I recently bought a cheap $500 used Kymco Sento 50 as my primary transportation and was so sad to find it not turner over one day as I was using it every day. I suspected it was the carbonator and at first was going to attempt to do it myself…but…nah…Scooter Smith was able to pick up my babe within a few hours for $40.00 (This price may vary depending on your location. Refer to their website). After just over a week they let me know it would be just under $200 total—being broke this was an awesome deal. I picked it up and asked the younger guy (I think his name was Benjamin?) a few questions as I’m still so new and he was really nice, knowledgably, and made me feel content to keep coming back. He mentioned I should keep my receipt for the 7day warranty.A few days later I found my scooter not turning over and called to ask if they had any idea what it could be. He did let me know that my type of cheap Chinese bike is known for having a lot of issues and this is something I should be prepared for. After hanging up and sitting on my bike is sadness (haha), he called me back and mentioned the Kill-Switch. If it was accidentally turned off and IT WAS! It’s right above my ignition, both red, and I must have pressed it without thinking. IT WORKED.They are awesome, without a doubt.
Thankfully a great shop since its about the only scooter shop in Houston.
Bottom line think twice about going there. They could care less about the average person..reviews good or bad are to help businesses grow and aspire. But how dare you give this place a bad review or they will call you to come get your scooter and not fix it after having it for 5 days. That just shows what kind of business they run. An egotystical one!!I hope the owner doesnt respond to this withThank you for taking time out to...bla bla
Just pur chased my first scooter from these guys. I didnt know where to go in Houston to purchase, initially visiting Vespa but decided on a Buddy, and Google suggested scootersmithChase was my salesman but everyone that works there, even the customers are so nice and willing to help. The staff is extremely knowledgeable as they are scooter owners themselves and what I love best is you can hear and see they do not want you to rush and buy, they want you to be completely satisfied with your scooter, so they take your 12 phone calls a day, they give you information to research and they go above and beyond to help you make a decision.Chase delivered same day despite a hour+ drive for a respectful fee! These guys rock!!!I appreciate the level of service and I ultimately purchased from them because of their great service - I know that if I ever had any issues with my scooter, they would asist me as if it was their own .Team Scooter smith :)
Had the tire in stock i wanted for my scooter.
Very helpful. Had a moped appraised for a bonded title
Nice staff and professional.
I have been dealing with Steve, the owner operator, for nearly three years. I have two Chinese made scooters that have basically been great bikes. Almost every time I have taken my repairs here, the bike has come back with cracked and broken parts unrelated to my repair. One time it looked as if it was dropped and the assembly by the throttle had to be tapped up. He did not want to take responsibility and just repeatedly remarked the Chinese scooters were cheap and I should get one of his Tai wan made ones ( for $2,000.00 more) another time the back signal light was broken off from the plastic fender ( I found out on the way back when I heard it hitting my wheel. The last straw was when I got back my bike and its making a knocking noise that will probably cost me much money (but no more to him) His prices have continued to get higher as his attitude has gotten lousier. Bad business at this place- suggest you find another repair man.
I purchased a NEW 2015 Lance Cali Classic from Urban Motorsports in Austin Texas back in July of 2015.Had 250 miles on it and it wouldnt start. Called ScooterSmith on the phone to see about having them look at it for Warranty work and they proceeded to diagnose it over the phone that my problem wasnt a warranty issue. The owner was very condescending and spoke to me as if he didnt care if I used their services or not.I purchased it in Austin at the time because ScooterSmith was not a carrier for Lance yet.I called Urban Motorsports and they drove to Houston to pick up the scooter. Took it back to Austin and found that there was a factory defect with the carburetor. It WAS COVERED under the factory warranty.I would NEVER recommend that anyone do business with ScooterSmith. I have contacted Lance as well to tell them of my experience with these people in hopes that they would question their decision to allow someone so sorry and unfriendly to represent their line of scooter.
My stepson bought a scooter 2 years ago and put 326 miles on it before going into the Army. The scooter had a slightly gummed carborator and it needed to be cleaned,. When I brought it home (from my stepsons) 4 weeks ago, I immidiatly put in a new battery from Pep boys and changed the fuel and oil. It ran, but had a stuck fuel metering valve or a gummed-up fuel bowel. (All pretty standard stuff). An easy fix by all accounts. Ive worked on 2-cycle engines for years, but I have been swamped at work. When you take a scooter to Scooter Smith, you are told anything under $300 in repairs, we will repair without notification. Hmm,, that concerned me but, surely a gummed up 2-cycle carb couldnt be over $100. A kit cost about $6.00. It takes about an hour (if I do it). Less if your familiar with this product.I was soo busy and didnt have access to a carb kit, so what the he__, Ill let them put a carb kit in it I thought. I dropped it off and was told itd be a week or ten days.Three weeks passed and I went in. Seems they didnt have my scoot. It was in their othershop.WHAT? Yeah man, Im down to just 1 guy and sorry but.......So today....3 weeks (exactly) after I brought it to these morons. I get a voice mail.Scooters ready, itll be $280. .. YEAH, IT NEEDED A NEW BATTERY!!! And and oil pump!,,Plus the carb.....Folks Ive worked on 2-cycle engines all my life + I just put in the new battery..Anyway after calling them out on their lies, they said they would donate the new battery. PLUS, they said, well, we got the old oil pump to work! So we dint need to change it. Really??I was so pissed, having to pay $240 for a $6 carb kit and a pack of lies.If I were the litigious type, I litigate this, but, again whos got the time and money. These guys are, IMHO theives. AND ILL STAND BY MY STORY, and have and independent mechanic testify that they are lying. BTW, When I got it home my new battery has been swapped out for an old battery that is at least 1 1/2 years oldDont think about using these people.
The best scooter dealer in Houston.
I called ahead to ask about a wiring problem on a 150cc scooter and they told me they could usually fix any scooter in 1-3 hours. I showed up with all the panels off and the wiring exposed and the guy (old one) refused to even look at it. He said it was too much of a mess and they dont work on Chinese scooters. I tried to explain that the scooter runs but its just grounding out somewhere and he refused to give me the time of day. I even offered to pay him for his time to help me diagnose but he refused to even talk about it. He acted like he was doing me a favor by giving me the number of a shop across town. I get the feeling that if you have a bigger issue than a plugged jet on a carb you should go find a shop thats not afraid to get their hands dirty. I have owned 8-9 different scooters and mopeds in the past year and I can assure you I wont be back to Scootersmith.
Buy a scooter here. Greatly helpful.
Took my engine to this shop for a top end rebuild as it was the authorized service center for my brand. Engine was returned with severe damages to the CVT cover and cooling shroud and the wrong valve cover. When asked to repair the damaged pieces and check over the engine to make sure everything else was okay, the owner demanded more money and behaved very rudely. He said the damage didnt matter and that he was done talking.I am currently in court proceedings with this shop.
Awesome service.
They were good..
Great knowledge and helpful.
When it comes to SCOOTERS...SUNDAY SCOOTER SQUIRT GUN RIDE 8 row Flint Yale & 11th street 2:00pm
Do you have anything for 500.00?
Great service
I have been to Scootersmith many times since moving to houston in 2010, it has been nothing but good experiences, ask for Chase.
Hes the best!!!!
He is the man when it comes to scooters.
