Girl on the phone said 30 min, it’s close to six on a Friday.So no problem, swing by in 30 pick up my sub, ask how long for a thing of mozzarella sticks they say 3 min, having worked in the restaurant business that’s about how long it takes to drop em in the fryer.Go sit outside within a min of me sitting down I get my mozzarella sticks.Meatball sub isn’t toasted, bread it wicked chewy, wasn’t even hot (the bread) meatballs were good sauce was good.But the bread ruined the sandwichThe mozzarella sticks were hardly cooked, were barely hot, cheese wasn’t really even melted chewy. Wouldn’t suggest

I celebrated my nomination today in this fine place. I am glad to say that it was a cool evening and the restaurant was unquestionably the reason for this outstanding evening. The crew contributed in a pleasant manner, the food was yummy and my buddies were so joyful. We shall definitely come back again for more celebrations. Thank you very much.

Ordered 8 medium pizza’s tonight for my grandmothers 81st birthday. For $80 ended up picking up the smallest medium pizza I have ever seen. When I say small I mean the box was the size of a small. I did ask how they considered this being a medium? To only be shown a extra tiny box with legit finger size pizza’s. I get we are in hard times right now, but for $80 worth of pizza I was unable to feed the small get together of 10 people. Really disappointed because I really liked the pizza itself. Dominios it is next time 🤷‍♀️

Grabbed lunch here during a professional development day with a bunch of fellow teacher friends. We called our order in ahead of time, I and figured wed just grab it and go, but they had a table all ready & waiting for us and they whisked our meals out to us moments after we arrived, because they knew we were short on time. I felt like a celebrity. Great service! They went above and beyond to help us out! Food was delicious too!

I love this place. My husband-to-be lives in the area and now this is our “go-to” for date night. Everything is great here. The food comes out really fast and the staff are always friendly. My favorite dish is the stuffed shells with a salad on the side (it comes with the meal). It’s delicious!The only reason why I’m giving this restaurant 4 stars and not 5 is because- although the drink menu looks amazing, the alcoholic drinks don’t go down smoothly and the beer and wine selection is mediocre. But everything else about this mom and pops restaurant is hands down- amazing. I also love that it’s kid-friendly, which is a big plus because they have not only 2 dining rooms, but also a bar area too to watch the big game! Thanks for having us! I tell everybody about this place!

Went out for dinner tonight with a friend and our waitress did not give us the time of day. She would repeatedly look us up and down and give very judgmental looks. She barely spoke to us and ignored us. Very disappointing since the food was good. Not sure if I would go back again.

We were in town for a family reunion and decided to meet at the Checkerboard for lunch before gathering later that afternoon. My husband and I arrived early and ordered bloody Marys at the bar. They were tasteless and the celery garnish was anemic. Once seated our server got a little flustered trying to remember all 11 orders. I ordered clam chowder. The absolute worst I have ever had. It tasted like onion soup with cream. I returned that order and asked for the soup of the day, chicken rice. Im not sure there actually was any rice in it and all of the veggies were mush. It was like the soup pot had been on the heat for a couple of days. Three of the kids, the youngest in our group, ordered pizza which took an extra 20 minutes to come out after the rest of our food. My husband had a chicken parm sandwich. He said that there was barely any cheese on it and the marinara sauce had zero flavor. The kitchen was unable to handle a large party all at once and the cook needs to come up with new recipes. I honestly do not know how this place survives.

Had a Family Christmas party at our home this past Saturday, December 15th. Ordered a full pan of Lasagna. Horrible.... pressed meat! Really? Thank goodness I had some REAL food. I was so embarrassed. We would like our money back!!!!

I literally popped in to the restaurant like the Pilsbury Dough Boy bowls and place my order for Italian Calzones.The chef named Tony prepared them from scratch, and it was a minimal wait time of 15 minutes. In that time frame I was getting glimpses of various delicious dishes and entrees being crafted.When it was my turn to pick up my order I could already smell the aroma of deliciousness... I couldnt wait to get home and dig in.All of my expectations were met...The Italian Calzone does not disappoint. It was delightfully delicious.👄

The Thai salad is excellent. Just the right amount of spicy and the peanut dressing is delicious.

I used to go often for lunch when my office was in the area. They had the best portabella mushroom burger (veggie no meat) I ever had before or since. I dont see it on the menu now. Bummer

First time trying this place, ordered scallops and fish, chicken alfredo and a few other things totalling 135.00. Very over priced, extremely small portions and I got sick from the scallops. When I contacted the owner, Chris, I was called a liar and hung up on twice!!

I have been to this place a few times for lunch. The food isnt great but even worse they steal your money. The last time I was in I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap for lunch (I sat in the restaurant) the price on the menu said $10.50 and it came with a side, which I told my waitress I wanted to substitute for Sweet potato fries. When I received my lunch, I had been given reg fries and sweet potato ones. The waitress said to me Im not sure why they served you both, but thats okay, you can keep them I thought okay the cook made a mistake. When I received the bill, I was charged $11.50 for the wrap and an extra $2.95 for the sweet potato fries, and when I asked the waitress she said the wrap doesnt come with a side and you ordered sweet potato fries so I charged you for that. and I responded with so a wrap alone cost $11.50? (why does the menu say something different) and she said Yes. I felt like they were just nickel and diming me. I ended up spending $20 for a wrap, 2 side of fries (which I didnt ask for) and a drink. That is too expensive for lunch. The worst part was when I got to work I told me co-workers of my experience and they said they had also been fooled by being charged for the extra fries (but only wanting one order) That is something I will not except. I am not asking for free food, but also dont try and trick me into feeling I need to pay for extra food I essentially didnt ask for/want. I will NEVER go back. The waitress didnt even try to make it right. It was like she was part of it. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS PLACE AND ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!!

This was the first restaurant my family went to after we moved into the area in 2000, and we never stopped coming. Nice variety, soups and salads to pizza and pasta, convenient location and friendly staff are pluses.

My fellow teachers an I often ate at Checkerboards. However, last week I got scombroid poisoning from a piece of fish. When I informed the restaurant, the owner was very defensive and rude over the phone. I went in to speak to the other owner, and she refused to see me. I cant believe the poor customer service! I will never go back and neither will my colleagues.

Ive only had the flatbread pizza but its great. Nice little place to eat or get take out.

Not corteis what so ever, they didnt even check up on us to see if everything was good, they didnt evem offered water, no bread no nothing, we ordered a regular pizza but it was a flatbread pizza, they said it was a regular pizza but it was a flatbread, the people sitting next to our table had a flatbread and it was exactly the same as our. Never to come here again.
