Excellent service on my limited slip differential, and hopefully a good referral for my motor.
Great place 👌 quality work 👏 done on time as promised 👍 nice group of guys. 😁
John and the crew always deliver on time and with industry standard or exceeded quality!
Gary was terrific in helping me to find my mechanical problem. He was smart and courteous.
Very good service..commend it
I have a 73 Bronco and tore my rear differential up. I asked a couple other highly regarded shops that didn’t do differential work- they all didn’t hesitate to refer me to John at J&S Gear. I called, spoke with John and asked for a ballpark quote understanding he hadn’t even seen it yet. One, he had it fixed in days not weeks and two, was below his estimate. Talk to John for a minute and it will be obvious his knowledge and expertise is extensive. Clean shop, pros and honest. Wouldn’t hesitate to refer people to J&S-thanks John!
Great place looks like they know what they are doing very professional
John is like a computer for the old classics. He knows alot and truly one of the last working muscle car guys around. Best dude in town for axles and he knows everyone. Always supplies my builds at Zind Customs and always delivers. Jonny Z
Took my 2000 Ford F-250 for a rear pinion seal and service and everything looks great. I no longer have a minor clunk off take off, I suspect because John insisted we use quality mineral oil as opposed to synthetic, which Ford actually recommends because the EPA mandates it. He explained that synthetic oil is not what you want in your diff, and I trusted his experience. He mentioned he’s torn apart ‘50s chevys diffs and the gear looked new because of the superior oil. John and his crew are obviously experts in their craft and I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my truck back. Reasonable pricing and fast service, next day turnaround. They also refinished my diff cover and it looks brand spankin new. Can’t say enough about J & S! Well done
Great service
Had them install true track in 8 3/4 pumpkin. getting ready to install and thank god I noticed one ring bolt completely loose !Would have wrecked every thing! Also true track the sold me is made in Taiwan?I was thinking Detroit true track
I called in and the guy on the phone laughed at my inquiry and was very condescending to me. Great first impression.
Took my 94 explorer 4x4 here to have a few seals replaced on my front differential. They replaced the seals no problem.. but for a hefty cost. Months later after inspecting some new brakes I installed, I noticed that in order to remove my front differential the driver side radius arm had to be removed.(which isn’t that hard to do) instead they took a torch and dangerously /jaggedly cut out my radius arm to remove the bolt. A year later. I’m now dealing with the same seals leaking and now, a chopped up radius arm too. Very disappointed
These guys were very helpful over the phone and did a excellent job on my F-150. Im very happy with the modern upgraded parts they recommended so its stronger than it was from the original factory! Drives better than ever.
Three cheers for J&S Gear Co: Top-notch work, quality parts, fast service. I had an Eaton TruTrac rear differential installed in a Transit T-250 Van, and the process was flawless. Eaton doesnt actually list an application for the full-size Transit vans, but they knew exactly which one to use anyway. Thanks to their expert shimming & adjustment, the new TruTrac is actually quieter than the OEM Ford differential. John and his crew did the installation in one day and their estimate was within $5 bucks of the actual price. They even painted the rear cover when they were done so it literally looks new again. Where do you find such pride of workmanship these days? If you need gear & diff work done, look no further - - These guys are the masters.
The guy really knows his stuff
This is the best place I have ever worked with on any project. John knows his stuff and hell answer questions. Just dont ask things like what ratio you have when you have no idea what axle youre looking at or what pinion and ring gears are in it. I knew nothing while getting into rebuilding an 8.5 GM Corporate 10-bolt and its a good thing J&S gear is around or Id still be in the dark. Now I know why he was laughing when the above question was asked. Gears are definitely a specialty... Bottom line, stand up guys and quality work can be found at J&S Gear, dont go anywhere else.
Installed gears for my e46 m3 and its been great ever since. No issues or concerns and great pricing. Would come back here again.
On my first visit to J&S, it was obvious by just looking around that this shop was in the know when it came to differentials. Not only that, but I came to J&S on the recommendation of one of the biggest players in the industry. I was greeted by John right away, even though he was in the middle of another project. His experience showed as he jumped in immediately to help solve my problem and turn what I thought would be an all day project into something much shorter than expected. I think a lesser shop would have taken advantage of my situation but I left with a bill that was more than fair and additional knowledge that I believe is priceless. I had a great experience at this shop and would recommend it to any customer or friend in the area. Thanks J&S!
John is an expert at what he does and it was a pleasure dealing with him. He rebuilt my differential at a great price...less than his competitors and I have the peace of mind knowing it was done by a pro with a great reputation in the industry. Also, I had my truck back the same day. Thank you J&S Gear Co!!
I have been doing business with John at J&S Gears for many years and have never been disappointed in the quality and service i have received. They have helped me with information to avoid making mistakes that would have cost a lot of money. If your looking for real professionals to do quality work on your vehicle. look no further there is no one in the area that gives all these at one shop. All the guys at the sho are very friendly too.Spanky
Great service
Do not take your car or truck to these guys. They did work on my differential. when I went to pick my Land Cruiser there was a clunking noise coming from the differentia. He told me that it was normal. Told him that it was not. He would not take the vehicle back. I ended up taking it somewhere else. They discovered that the locker was not installed correctly. I had to put a stop payment on my credit card because he would not correct his mistakes.
I cant start to say how arrogant and unprofessional this guy is. I had a major noise and vibration after he did my axle rebuild. When I said calmly and in a professional manner there was a problem he proceeds to test drive my car in a manner that also was very unprofessional by winding out the engine and slamming gears to try and cover up the rear end noise and says there is nothing wrong so I take the car. I returned again and said in a professional manner there is a major problem and then in front of other people he starts insulting me and yelling at me. I have never encountered anything close to that by any shop.EVER After that display of unprofessional behavior I decided this guy will never touch my car again so I had someone else check it out and they found the problem. When I told him what was found there was no apology or manning up and saying is there anything I can do... just more insults and yelling at me and denial of any incompetence or offer to help me in anyway to make up for his screw up.If you choose to have anything done by this guy and something goes wrong with the work GOOD LUCK in getting treated in a professional & respectful manner. I was shocked at his behavior. If one of my employees even did 50% of how he acted I would fire him or her on the spot.
Gary did a great job. Too bad they just do gearing!
85/hr for 4-5hrs of labor and quoted my $585?? even If I remove my axle and take it to them to re-gear???Are these people High? You are better of going with Powertrain or anyother re-gear shop. I got a quote for $245 labor only at another reputable shop.
Nice fellows great work ethic.
I have a 68 chevelle and wanted 373 gears installed, hence having a car that 50 years old I asked John to rebuild my diff, I also had them install my rear wilwood brakes, 2 days later recieved a call from john stating that my car was finished I was surprised on the turn around time. Pick up my car I noticed the rear diff looks like new again, in talking to one of the mechanics thats worked on my car he said my diff was on the verge of failure. He showed my the old parts and bearings that had collapsed during the removal process the axles were pitted and wornout. My car is like new again new gears and brakes work flawlessly. I highly recommend this place john and his staff are honest and pricing is reasonable.
Straight to the point all American parts and good old fashion customer service
John and his team do a great job.
John and his crew are the best.
Good shop, good prices with grouchy mechanics.
These wankers are the best in the business.
