Such a fun and interesting general store. The oldest in ALA when visitors are in town this is a must pop in. Right on the historic square and filled with local and regional artisan crafts, gifts and more. From soaps to marbles you will be amazed at everything they have. The staff are half clerks - half docents so fun and filled with facts, tidbits and info on Huntsville and the store. This is just as much a tourist attraction as it is business. You’ll be delighted at their selection and leave knowing a little bit of history of Huntsville too.
Stop by the visitors center in Huntsville and grab a scavenger hunt list of items to find here! You get to take home a prize. You will find unique gifts here, hand blown glass marbles, artwork, baking supplies, tools, and very cool antiques to check out. You might be so lucky to find a Huntsville Lucky Duck right outside too, just look up. 😉
Great place to bring the kids to see the holiday trains.
This store is so great! It has such an eclectic mix of products crafts and art. I could pursue the shelves for hours exploring the merchandise, vintage fixtures, and Memorabilia. My boyfriend bought me some wonderful cake pans, some cast iron pans, and some super cool Huntsville themed coasters. The staff is really nice, and were enjoyable to chat with as we were checking out. I will definitely be back to browse and spend!
Best place in Madison County to find locally & regionally sourced gifts (including the lovely Zkano socks I bought that are woven of organic Texas cotton by a mill in Ft. Payne), foods, & handcrafts. Owned by a local nonprofit historical organization, its staffed by knowledgeable, friendly people.Covid precautions include acrylic shield at the register, all employees masked, & hand sanitizer for use by the register.
Havent been to this historic landmark for a long time, mostly due to the pandemic. This neat gift store had all the unusual items they always do. Was happy to get a bottle of Mexican vanilla for all my baking.
A lovely location that is a must on any Huntsville tourist’s list! I love to stop in every now and then to see what wonderful new things I can find!
Cant goto Huntsville without visiting Alabamas oldest general hardware store. Check ✅ it out. Be well. Vacation Sensei
A neat store. Half of it is clearly still embracing the original store. Kind of neat to see the elevator and old bins full of nails. But their merchandise is a mixture of 50% novelty gifts and 50% local arts and crafts. That being said the local art was cool and some was priced very reasonably. My wife and I even found the perfect key bowl which well always remember our visit by when we return home to Virginia. Definitely worth a quick or not so quick stop, although I wish they offered at least some hardware of some kind for sale.
This little store is a really special place. Not much of a hardware store per se, but more of a gift shop. Their inventory is great, they have a lot of old historical items, and many knickknacks representative of Huntsville and Madison. This store is a must-see for any tourist visiting here. I stopped into this store a few times, and all 5 employees who I met were kind and knowledgeable. When i told them a few items were gifts, they offered to wrap them for me and tied a cute bow with a nice ribbon. I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you Cheryl!
Great place to visit and see some of the heritage of downtown. Great selection of gift items for all ages. Great service if you call or visit, curbside pickup available.
Great little place! Love the history and original wood floors and shelves
I love taking out of town guests to Harrisons. Gives them a little glimpse of Huntsville and I like the old fashion candy and toys.
I went to this store 3 or 4 years ago. One of the most interesting places I have ever witnessed with my own eyes. I enjoyed the preserved wood from the older days and door knobs. I loved the owners of the store or store clerks, cant quite remember there names. I do believe the candy was my favorite being older style candle and the way it had a little of all necessities. They made me feel welcoming and important. Knowledge was the key to the place and I loved it. Beautiful place to just see even if its a hardware store. Its a piece of our history. 5 stars......all the wayJen
I hadnt been there in years. Its a total delight. Yes, its a gift shop, but theres also a lot Old Huntsville memorabilia thats great to simply look at. Treat yourself.
This is a great place to find gifts from local people and places.
Absolutely love this place; a little bit of everything and things I had never seen before. Every time we come into town, we always make a point to stop here. Friendly service!
Nice hometown feel
Very fun and the staff are knowledgeable....loved looking at all the original merchandise, cash register and local artist/author wares.
Not much hardware. It is a cool blast from the past with all kinds of unique and interesting items.
Harrison Brothers is a place to step back in time. There are many items to browse thru no matter what peaks your interest. Unfortunately, it is basically an expensive gift shop housed in a 150 year old building. They are very proud of their products and it shows by the price they put on them. If it is your first time in Huntsville, then go visit.
Wonderful handcrafted quality items. Fun shopping!
Great place, staff friendly and very helpful. Cant wait to visit again.
A great staff with people always concerned with the customers welfare and concerns. The store is governed by a board which is always reviewing ways to make it better. Profits are not top priority at this store and the staff members are indeed happy to be working there with the ability to help and deal with the public. The store gets high praise in thorough thought on what to stock that visitors would desire that is special to represent a special town that they all are tremendously proud of. They want a customer to leave with an item that they can say, this is something special and, I will always remember Harrison Brothers of Huntsville, Alabama.
I went to meet with the Huntsville ghost tour there. Did not go in the store. It was closed
Really interesting place. So much cool stuff in the front side but a little pricey for me
Fun old-timely hardware store. The lower shelves are filled wth interesting and innovative gift items while the higher shelves are filled with hardware store stock from back in the day.
Such a cool place. My dad used to manage a hardware store; so it was fun to see all the old boxes and things like I might would see at his store. Theres a lot of history there. They had a lot of handmade items- I really loved those!! One of my favorite things about it was all the old papers, invoices, price lists, etc. hanging around the store.
What a great slice of History! You can actually turn back the hands of time with a walk through this hardware store. They have a selection of gifts and unusual items for purchase. Whether you choose to purchase anything or not it is an interesting place to spend some time and try to remember what some of the items were actually used for. A lot of the original store has been maintained with its original stock and original pricing. The people there were friendly and helpful as well.
Interesting selection of items. Food, gadgets, books, toys and local artisan work. Great gift choices.
A lot of old neat hardware items to look at. Also, a lot of gift shop items like soaps and quite a variety of other items. We bought some neat marbles and a book (10 yr. old) about collecting marbles. All in all a fun place to visit. Staff was very friendly.
We love this store so much. Its an old hardware store that got turn into a novelty shop. It still has all the old things from the hardware store and its just charming. The women who work there are so kind and just love the store.
It is a beautiful, historical, real shopping treat. They carry 1818 Farms products, among others, and they are reasonably priced!
Okay this place is just neat! Its a beautiful marriage of nostalgia, gadgetry, southern living, toy store, art work, and trinkets.
Always something new and different to see. Great ambience! Love this place!
I came here with a bunch of my family on a family history tour. My daughter and I enjoyed looking around at all the neat things and purchased a bag of marbles and several other things. Knowing that ancestors shopped in that same store generations ago was really cool!
My go-to gift shop! They literally have something for everyone here. They sell a lot of local artists work. So a bunch of unique pieces. What do you expect from the oldest hardware store in the state?!
Great store filled with novelty and unique items! Very cool to see the old historic building and the antique items inside. Lots of unique items from artists and artisans.
History and cool stuff you cant find elsewhere. Be sure to get some local specialty items (FRED BREAD!)
A great historical place to visit. The people are friendly and the prices for interesting things are reasonable. I highly recommend visiting this facinating old store.
I great local gift shop! Fun place to shop.
A great place to visit, from an historical prospective and a variety of merchandise for sale. Much of the old hardware store is preserved and some of it still operational. Highly recommend.
Such a sweet little stop. We had a very nice volunteer tell us all about the place. Very enjoyable.
Great old time hardware store, still uses original cash register from late 1800s
Love going to this store. Brings back memories from my childhood. Always find something new and interesting.
I love this place. They keep the history alive and my kids love the marbles! Get your beard oil from here too!
Beautiful and peaceful. Great playground. Several places to picnic.

Perfect place to buy locally made goodies! I do all of my gift shopping here! You will find something for everyone!
The cutest store with some of the best products!
Not really a hardware store. More of a knickknack store.Cool atmosphere, but Ive never bought anything there. I recommend going at least once, if nothing else just because of the age of the place.
Love this place. They have great unique gifts for all ages and run by volunteers!
A True Huntsville gem. Worth spending the time just looking around also. Very friendly staff that are nice enough to give you the history of the place if you ask.
Really interesting. Like walking back into time. Be sure to chat with the staff at feont desk and look carefully at all the detail from the floor up.
Excellent view of Huntsvilles past. Great gifts and friendly volunteers! Located right across the street from the Madison County Courthouse.
Great items. Artsy. Down homeRelevant. FunInteresting.
Very cool to visit. Step back a hundred years instantly!
Very cute unique little shop, with an awesome history and a feast for the eyes.
Really neat place full of history. Glad they saved this gem.
Some cool stuff for sale and overall a really cool shop in historic downtown. Definitely worth a visit and supporting local business.
Its neat enough. Chick spot. No hardware just chick stuff.
Really sweet gift shop/hardware store museum. Fun for the whole family to explore!
Great little store, as others will probably point out, one of the oldest in Huntsville. Great, friendly staff, but be aware that everything is pretty expensive.
Lovely store. A beautiful gift shop that is as full of history as most museums.
Not sure if you previous visitors are going to the same place. This is the oldest hardware store in Alabama. But the store sells nothing hardwarish. The stuff the do have is covered or to high for you to see. Dont get the place. You sure can get sucked into buying something for your kids or grandkids from China.
Cool place to shop. Lots of different products. Many items that are made locally and regionally. Cool old cash register. I was in looking for gifts for my mom and went to the other side of rhe store and the woman working actually ran after me when she saw I wasnt in the room I started in. Then she just very obviously followed me around until I walked back to the register with my purchases. And then even though she followed me around the whole time I had to wait a few minutes for someone else to realize I was ready to cash out. It was odd.
Neat place to go and just look. They do have stuff to buy like nails and bolts and such.
Great place on South Side Square...many unique items.
When friends are in town we always make sure to take then by. Its almost like part museum, part store. And the staff is always friendly and loves dogs
Love this store. Lots of unique items.
A lot of stuff to look at. The lady at the counter was very helpful
Eclectic assortment of goods in a nostalgic atmosphere. A lot of artisan goods -- locally & nationally.
A lot of history, a lot of local, a lot of fun! #supportlocal #shoplocal #inourownbackyard #harrisonbrothershardware #256magazine
