While we were visiting Melbourne Beach and looking for an ice cream place, we found The Fat Donkey. The have a huge variety of flavors and the staff is very kind. It was a good ice cream.

Friendly service. Ice cream is tasty. The prize winner is the pretzel cone. A must do!

The good: ice cream is tasty and there’s a great selection with attractive branding. The bad: ice cream melts all over your hand within seconds! It must be the recipe. I have a Bruster’s Ice Cream near my home and they have homemade ice cream and it doesn’t melt in the Florida summer heat this fast. The Ugly: Seating is poor, just some unfinished wooden benches, one with spilled ice cream that I almost sat on. It looked disheveled and disorganized inside of the ice cream shop where the employees were working. There’s only one small trash can which was full, and you have to lift the lid to throw things away, yuck! I’ve never been to an ice cream shop this dirty; most of them are spic and span, not this one.

Their variety of flavors are so delicious and not found elsewhere. The scoops are huge! Friendly! Well be back for sure!!!

The shakes are good but this is the second time driving 20 minutes plus to enjoy and they had no milk or a full advertised menu. How do you run out of milk and your business is milkshakes ?

Best beachside ice cream in Melbourne! Their menu has everything you could want. Have only tried a couple flavors so far but always try something new when we go back and it never disappoints. Only downside is not a lot of parking and its a little hard to get in and out of because theyre on the corner of the main roads. We just go during non-peak times to avoid the crowds.

Not quite the same vibe as the Cocoa Beach locale, but still very good...This Fat Donkey is located at the north west corner one of the busiest intersections of all Brevard County, quite a polar opposite place than the sister location in Cocoa Beach. And though the outdoor facade is as welcoming as the other one, the rest of it just doesnt have the same vibe. Maybe its the neighboring businesses whose store fronts arent much to look at, or maybe its the traffic zooming by just feet away, but this just aint the same if youve ever been to their northern instance.Anyway, as far as the ice cream is concerned, this stuff is top-notch. The soft-serve is creamy, their Zonkey which includes soft-serv and sorbet is brilliance. Theres nothing like it that I am aware of at any ice cream shop. The hard-packed stuff is superb. I had a scoop of the Butterscotch Bomb and a cherry ice cream with chocolate and cherries - both of them were awesome. Others in our party had chocolate favorites filled with marshmallow, chocolate and peanut butter ribbons - everybody walked away happy.Will I come back again, sure, Ill stop there anytime in the area and with a hankering for some really, very good ice cream...

Stopped here after dinner for some dessert, unfortunately forgot to snap some photos. They had both soft-serve and regular ice cream sold by the scoop, pint and quart. My kids had the cookie dough and the oreo sandwich. My son said the cookie dough was very good but it melted fast and wasnt as good as our local custard shop. The oreo sandwich on the other hand held together well and seemed to not melt as much and also was served in a plastic bag which contained the drippings. My dip cone was perfect, I had no complaints about it.

Such a delightful and unexpected local gem. We found this place walking from our Airbnb to the beach and stuffed our faces with creamy and rich delights. I ordered the (iirc) Jack Smasher, which was basically a waffle cone with a full slice of key lime pie wedged in between some strawberries and vanilla soft serve. It was great but a challenge to eat through the pie crust without breaking the cone. I broke the cone. Like three times. Doh.

Love the Cocoa Beach location and now Iove the Indian Harbour location as well! Next up Sarasota. Honestly the best ice cream anywhere and Fat Donkey needs to be all over Florida! Ate a 2 scoop cone and took 4 quarts back to Orlando as usual!

Wow! Might be the best Ive cream Ive ever had! I got the Calypso crunch and the cherry, wife got mint chip and stellar coffee. Two thumbs wayyyy up! Rivals Leopolds, the iconic Savannah ice cream shoppe. Well be back when were back in the area.

Tried two locations, both delicious. My butterscotch was by far superior to chocolate cookie cheesecake, husband preferred calypso crunch over butterscotch (although it was a close call), one kid liked baja chocolate over chocolate cookie cheesecake, other kid said baja chocolate was a tie with coffee. All in all, delicious. Would definitely go back again.

Enjoyed the ice cream, seemed very fresh. We only had scoops in a cup so will have to try something fancier next time.

Creative ice cream flavors that are actually well executed, with the option to have them in some particularly decadent combos.Scoop of ice cream over a warm oreo brownie was delicious, as was ice cream/strawberry/key lime pie combo in a cone - although that one could benefit from being served in a cup so you arent in a rush to eat it before it self destructs.

Bought 6 quarts of ice creams in the last week for my neighbors and I tip the girls each time in the computer with my credit card so they know how iv tip them today went in there to get a sticker to put on my car to advertise for them and I only had $1.06 and a 20 I asked the girl if I could slide for a penny and she said no I need a $1.07 well I wont be putting that sticker on my car and I wont be going there for a while. Hopefully shell get fired and I can go back there again and not see her face. Kids today they just dont appreciate customers at all its sad.

Wow, where to begin? Overpriced, and probably the WORST ice cream place I ever been to! $6 for basically a vanilla shake with a few coconut flakes thrown in! It was supposed to have pineapple and coconut; 0 pineapple! WASTE of money! First time I tried; LAST time I ever go! Go up the road to the place with a cow in front; WAY BETTER than this place!

Service was great and staff had good knowledge of their product. They had dairy free offering as well. Will be back if in the area again.

Soft serve wasnt great BUT the mint chip and the gummy bear popsicles were a hit with the kids.

Located right across the street from the beach. Lots of ice cream flavors to choose from. The zonkeys- a combination of soft-serve and sherbert- are a really nice treat. Would highly recommend this place.

Great ice cream, many flavors, they have no signs or arrows for social distancing though, so many bunch up...many wore masks but some do not so be aware. Nice employees though and beach across the street for a quick stroll.

Big fan of the fat donkey!! beautiful new space for them. its a walk up window with lots of outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying after a beach day with my family (especially my messy young cousins). will definitely come back! theres so many unique dessert options i want to try next time (zonkey and churro sandwich for SURE!)
