Food was good. The waitress was amazing. Wish I caught her name. She went above and beyond. My brother was having a bad day and she made it better.
If you ever had that grandma that cooked sunday dinner an it was always good. Youll definitely enjoy this place. Deserves more then a 5 star rating

UPDATE...Spoke with the manager who called me the very same day of that first review.He told me that he had been there about three or four months at the time, which is exactly when we started to notice a lack of service and quality. He said he would send out some coupons or something to our home but he also failed to do that.My wife was back in there last week or so. It appeared that the case was the same or worse with cheese/other that is falling down from the top on it. Were still leaving this review a 1 only because I cant remove it...Just left MCL on East Street extremely disappointed...Went to have chicken... no chicken today though it was still on the menu.At 1:00 pm you wouldnt think you would be out of a staple, and if you were youd notify your help and patrons...Noticed lately that their catfish also has deteriorated in quality to strips...you can barely find a sliver of catfish in all of the breading anymore.Took a picture of the pie cabinet with cheese, butter packs and unidentifed others on the pumpkin pie...Very sad to see after 26 years of enjoyment in this town for us, hate to see it come to an end like this...Employe was apologetic l, not her fault at all.Manager seemed unapologetic and bothered by the entire event of having to provide our refund.Up until the last few months this would have been 5-star rating...I leave as a 1-star rating in hopes of some notice and change by the UPPER management...

I had the daily item of the day! Today it was chicken and noodles! It was very good! My 2 sides were mashed potatoes and green beans... I also got a free piece of bread! I chose the roll! It was all very good!!! Everyone else had the roast beef, and it was very good as well!!! It was very juicy!!! The waitress done awesome and bringing our tables refills without us having to ask!!! I will be returning!!! Thx!!!
I used to come here years ago as a kid and the style never changed, the hospitality never changed. All the good things I remembered about this place was still great. Food was awesome chicken was cooked to perfection. All the staff was super friendly and the manager was super nice as well. Heather was a superb server. Had to tip her well for how much she kept up on checking on my family which included my 3 young kids. Most definitely will give this location another try for the next time we decide to go out to eat.

Holy lord, this place is expensive! A kids meal with a few extra sides was $25! For whats basically cheap, bland American cuisine that you could make yourself for $5.Unless you really feel like wasting money I would avoid this place.
I ordered potatoes green beans, and fried chicken. The chicken was soggy, but it had flavor. The green beans taste like they were poured straight out of a can. The potatoes were not edible. Im not sure who cooked today, but it was terrible. The staff was friendly, but I will not be coming back to this location.

People are humbe yet the food was not very good in my opinion except for the penutbuter cookie and very expensive 😅 overall reminded me of school food.
Roast beef had a lot of fat on it and inconsistent serving sizes, my mother got the exact thing and was given twice as much. They need to work on that, and service was slow on refills of drinks. Its ok, food is a little pricey and mediocre. Its clean and my mother likes it because of nostalgia, so well keep coming.

They had all you can eat catfish. Some of the best catfish Ive ever had. You can always depend on MCL giving you a delicious wholesome meal. Ill be back.
I was simply not impressed the food was cold the choices for sad too many young teenage people that just seem to not be up on things. I was not happy with my food at all. However I do love MCL dont get it twisted just not that one.

If comfort food is what you are looking for they have a good variety. Chicken and noodles, seasoned green beans and a dinner roll was my meal. Walked away full and satisfied. A little pricey because every item is a la carte so look at the specials on the board when you walk in.
I never enjoy the atmosphere here. The food is okay. The staff are not friendly at all. The three times I went there lately, no one ever asked if I wanted a re fund on my drink. Actually let me be blunt and say, I think they may be prejudiced. I think it may be time for me to not go there again.

Disappointing... Its a good thing that I have very fond memories of eating here with my grandparents years and years ago. Unfortunately I dont have anything good to say about them anymore. It was so quite in there you could hear the employees banging dishes in the back. Felt like we walked into a secret cult ... Unwelcomed and it was obvious. The prices are outrageous, the staff was rude and unprofessional and the food was just as bad. I always thought that everything gets better with time.. and I was wrong.
Great homemade food, fresh baked pies, cakes and dinner rolls. Awesome fried chicken and beef manhattans.

Very clean. The food was good and nice size portions. I was disappointed with my fried chicken. It was ok, but was almost cold and like it had been setting in the serving pan for awhile. I will return and try again.

Good ol home cooked food from MCL. Its great for the family to have multiple cafeteria type of options for the whole family. Some of the menu items can be a bit bland.
Perhaps if you lowered prices more people would eat here! At least offer 3 year low interest financing, or something!

Today we had my Mothers funeral. For years my parents would come here after church on Sunday with all their Grandchildren. So to make another memory we came her after the funeral. There was about 45-50 of our family dining there. My ister and 2 nieces purchased stuff turkey chicken breast 3 of which were raw uncooked chicken. We will never dine there again.
We ordered food to go it was pretty good we had turkey manhattans with mash potatoes and there always delish, with mac and cheese and green beans it was like a mini Thanksgiving if your looking for home cooked type hot fresh food this is one of the only places its really good...

The fried chicken was soggy and the mac and cheese was dry. The cheese cake was ok, but the crust tasted like paper.

Home style cooking, in what I can only describe as school cafeteria serving. One picks a tray, and slides it down and around the hot meals counters to choose a dish, sides, and/or dessert.The food is conservatively seasoned, in my opinion. While I cant say its the most FLAVORFUL food, its well cooked. Dessert parties are delicious, and baked on site. In fact, I believe most items ARE cooked from scratch; they taste that way. I would like to add that this restrained seasoning really agrees with sensitive stomachs.The staff who waits on you after youve taken seat is very pleasant, and yet not clingy. Eat here frequently enough, and you notice that the are long term employees, which speaks highly about this restaurant. You are treated well, it feels, because the staff is also taken care of.

Overall the service is great and the food is pretty good. It’s a welcome break from sub-par restaurant food. The ice tea is THE BEST and portions are good. The prices have jumped considerably since COVID. It looks like they are going to try and recoup the losses from being shut down. Drinks are now $2.45 and one ladle of chicken and noodles is $5.39. The sides are all over $2 now and pie is up to $3.25. The CEO doesn’t want to miss out on his $10 million bonus so the rest of us have to fund it. I am working class and get lunch here a couple times a month for a treat. I can’t afford $17 for lunch so this is my last visit. Too bad, the pie was TERRIFIC 👌.

This was our first time here and we will definitely be coming back. The staff was friendly and helpful from the first greeting, until we left. Good service always impresses me more than the food but in this case both were wonderful. The food was delicious and such a big selection! I will warn that it was easy to spend more $$ than we planned because everything looks so good. Also, mac and cheese for me is either excellent or disgusting. There is no in between. I did not care for their mac and cheese but my dining companion loved it. I definitely recommend eating here. Try the broccoli casserole!
Door dashed and the fried chicken was good! I had the green beans as well which needed to be seasoned and the mac and cheese was good. The sweet tea however was not sweet. It taste like unsweet tea... I def would eat there again though! Overall pretty good home cooked food!

The people serving were very nice and helpful in seeing that I got what I wanted. Joyce the manager was good in seeing that everyone were doing there part and pitching in to do her part. All the women I saw working up front were doing a good job. Ill be going back there every time I can. Keep up the good work!!

I cant lie I was a bit displeased with yesterdays visit. So I came in to order a kid meal. I was informed by one of the employees if I purchased an entree the kid meal would be free. So I agreed and age automatically put both meals into to go containers. Then the same lady that made the suggestion states Illthat she forgot it has to be dine in...I go okay Ill done in. I then move in to pay the cashier andthe cashier states the total will be $11. I then explain what the other young lady told me about it being free. The manager approaches and says this deal is for dine in and your meals are in Togo containers. I state oh yes but Im eating here. The young lady put them in Togo containers I didnt necessarily ask did the Togo containers. She then goes the child needs to be physically present with you. I respect all of these policies but all employees should be on one Accord. All of that should have been taken into consideration before making the offer to me. I was super embarrassed and just told the cashier to take off the entree. I believe in paying my way but if I were the manager I would have made the exception considering my staffmade a mistake. Not to mention the manager was very Kurt didnt greet me and was very unapologetic. More than likely will be using the extra gas to travel to the speedway location ☹️

Long time customer of the MCL Cafeteria chain in Indiana. Good food, economically priced, great customer service and accomodating! Reminds me times with my parents and my in-laws.
The food is always good. Its home cooked and the desserts are second to none. It is perfect for baby boomers! Brings me back to my childhood. Great selection and the price is fair for the amount and type of food you get.

The food and service hasnt changed. Still a good place to dine in and enjoy the comfort food you enjoyed as a kid.
There was nobody to serve the salad at first. The food wasnt terrible, but not great either. I have a dairy allergy, so I couldnt eat any of the several sides, except one. However, they did offer to make me something else. Besides the poor service with the salad, it is what I expected. If you dont have a special diet or allergies, and you like okay, but not great American food, it is fine.

Great food. Stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, dinner roll strawberry shortcake and green beans. It was delicious!! Servings are HUGE!Also, the sweet little lady kept us supplied with drinks! Great place!

Absolutely wonderful! The food was displayed so well! It was had to choose what to eat cause it ALL looked good!! We settled on grilled prime rib with mushrooms for me and fried chicken for him. The Butternut squash was delicious! Got desserts to eat there and take home!!! Pecan pie, homemade Chocolate Cheesecake with an Oreo cookie crust, banana bread and zucchini bread for snack or breakfast the next day. All super yummy!!The guys and ladies working there made sure to check on us and we had everything we needed.What a wonderful relaxing supper in a nice quiet setting!!! Going back the next chance we get!!!

I love eating here when we come to Indy...I hate that we no longer have MCL in my town...But thats ok cause we just drive to Indy to eat here.I love how we get to go down the line and pick out the food we want to eat...I always get the fried chicken legs,mashed potatoes and gravy,stuffing,green beans and chocolate pudding with a large sweet tea to go.Everything is always Amazing...The stuffing is to die for!!!!!!And the Sweet Tea is the Best around.They are hardly ever busy so you get through the line fairly quick.You like home cooked food you will love this place💜💜💜💜💜

Classic cafeteria food. The food is good and the service is always good. There only downside is that its pretty pricey which is probably why there are so few cafeteria style places left.

I love their salmon patty with cheese sauce on Tuesdays but, this time it just wasnt as good as it normally is. And the prices are terrible anymore. For 2 salmon patty green beans n mashed taters and 2 teas for my mom n I even with a coupon was over 25.00..and it was also during senior hours too.
Absolutely love their salads. Food is just a bit subpar and prices are kind of high. But if I could I would eat there daily.
You can eat comfort food or you can eat healthfully here. The hot menu changes daily, and they have some smaller-portioned value meals. They always offer baked fish and poultry entrees. We love that there are so many vegetable choices (both cooked and raw) and fresh fruit. But if you like fried food, gravy, cheese sauce, pies, etc., theres plenty of that, too.
Food is great home style cooked. Heard how expensive they where. But found that to be untrue,especially for the quality. 10 to 12 bucks a person for a real meal.
Always a pleasure, friendly staff and great food.
