Really dig this place. They have a good mix of used and new records for vinyl fans, but they’re also a live music venue and coffee shop with plenty of space to sit. Their menu isn’t big but I don’t drink much beyond black coffee lol. The folks who works there are nice and it feels really homely, which is everything I always hope for in a coffee shop. Also I picked up this Charles Bradley album (RIP) last time I was there!
I have went to this location a couple times and both times I have been here it was fantastic! The atmosphere is great if you love hearing different genres of music as they always have something different spinning while you browse vinyls or stop for some of the coffee. The coffee here is delicious! I have had a couple different coffee drinks and both were brewed very well!Keep up the great work!
I love the remodel!!!! The vibe here is so comforting. My dirty chai was served right up in an actual coffee cup! Staff is phenomenal! Highly recommend
Very cool vinyl shop. Relaxing atmosphere. Mostly new with some used. Nice place to hang out and talk music.
The newly renovated space is fantastic and filled with vinyl from wall to wall! Great selection of Indiana beer, and an Indiana music section.Special shout out to ownership/management for accommodating a request, in celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary! We love you SCV.
I want to like Square Cat: love the coffee and vinyl idea. But used selection of Square Cat is lacking. Lots of old stuff that’s not very interesting- just a lot of $3 bargain stuff. Not much rare collectible used stock. New stock isn’t bad though. Good for the most part but nothing really to write home about. Hopefully it continues to grow!
I was pleased with the experience of selling my LP collection.
Great selection of records. Delicious beverages (Kombucha for me). My friend Grant bought me a Sleeping Bag record and I love it. Highly recommend!
Fantastic location. The staff are great, the record selection is awesome, the coffee is delicious (drip coffee and latte), would definitely recommend!
The new layout/design is amazing! A cozy vintage feel with delicious local/regional beers make for a fun time.
Best coffee and vibe in Fountain Square! Awesome record selection, and can basically get you anything they dont have already.
Nice little shop with kind people. Records are a bit expensive but nothing too crazy. Would definitely rather spend my money here than Walmart or Barnes and nobles. They have a cafe type thing in there.
Decent collection of records, cute extras like buttons and tote bags, and great coffee.
Coffee, lattes (w/ oat milk option), big vinyl collection, arcade games, live music; all the essentials!
Super awesome find in Fountain Square! There is a little bit of everything: vinyls, beer, coffee, pastries, live music and DOGS! Well the store itself doesnt have dogs but the location is pet friendly! Great atmosphere to chill and listen to some live music. The bartender/ barista was so friendly and gave great service. The coffee is made in house and tasted great. The beer selection was local and lengthy. Absolutely coming here again!
Love that vinyl smell...and a good roast of coffee!
This is a groovy little gem! I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable atmosphere, great tunes, and great coffee! The barista was very cool, he was very helpful with ensuring there was no dairy in my mocha, and was quick to accomodate any request. Great selection of vinyl, and quite a few beer choices as well! A great spot to come and get some work done, just hang out, or find your next rockin vinyl! Will definitely be back next time Im in Indy!
No foodRecords are very expensive
What was intended as a stop for the critically acclaimed (critic being my aunt) Gluten Free Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie, ended up an unforgettable experience. My toddler girls were immediately drawn to the stage with comfortable, vintage furniture and a community turntable. They picked their chairs, sat down and chilled. We ended up getting the Pecan Pie Latte which is a perfect blend of coffee with just enough sweet. It was prepared by the stores owner who is friendly, personable and no doubt the reason this store is successful. The cookie - BAH! - its gigantic and is easily one of the best cookies Ive had. Did I mention its gluten free? Okay - Im jumping around here. Go. Listen. Buy. Taste. I would tell you to enjoy but that goes without saying. Square Cat Vinyl is a gem in this city. I look forward to many visits.
Amazing coffee. Great records. Give these people your money. Why are you going down the street to that other place run by their landlord? Hes a horrible human being.
Sweet and welcoming staff. I can always count on finding at least one vinyl from my favorite bands here, top notch selection!
What an awesome little dive. Loved the coffee and spent a good 30 mins just browsing through the records for sale. What I really loved was the no pressure atmosphere and staff. We browsed and sipped our coffee at our own pace without anyone trying to pressure us into buying something or constantly starring at you. Just a relaxing place with a cool vibe.
Love this place and its staff. Always friendly, always happy to help. Great selection of records and curbside pickup was easy and fast. Support local record shops!

Easily one of the best record stores in Indianapolis. Beyond that, its an INCREDIBLE place to watch local and touring acts perform, and a great bar to chill at to have a few beers or a fantastic cup of coffee. The staff is PHENOMENAL. Could not recommend this place more. Stop in whenever you have the chance and check it out for yourself.
Went late morning on a Sunday and the vibe was mellow and relaxing. Coffee and bar at the back of the store. Mostly new records but there are some old records to rummage through in the front and towards the back. The old records are reasonably priced. Nice shop!
Really cool music store. My daughter and I enjoy browsing the album selection. Love music. Friendly staff. The background music they play always seems universally appropriate which is noticed by me.
Though I am not a vinyl enthusiast, I frequent Square Cat for the coffee and beer. They are a great local venue for a quick drink with friends or coworkers. The staff is friendly, helpful, and always willing to have a conversation about anything.
Square Cat is not just a record store, it’s a community spot to meet your neighbors for a drink or catch an unexpected show. I am thankful for their dedication to bringing a variety of entertainment to the neighborhood! Stand up, drag shows, album releases, all types of live music and the people themselves — so much to love about Square Cat!
This shop is adorable! I especially liked the local artists section, where you can pretty much find anything you ever wanted from your favorite Indy bands!
Great deals!
This is my favorite venue. Intimate and oh so danceable. The bar has delicious offerings too, huge bonus.
I just love this place for the originality of it, the location, and the bands. They have an extensive music selection for such a small place. They have some of the best local talent play here if youre into live music. My only complaint is that its too small for some of the great music shows they put on. But Im also torn because the smallness of it is what makes it such an intimate setting, which has its own charm. And I am also slightly biased for liking it so much because it was the meeting place I chose for my first date with the love of my life when they very first opened :)
This place is super cool. I love the all ages café bar and live music performances. I tried the hot chocolate when I was there and it was fantastic. It can get very crowded during the live music performances, so keep that in mind if you are claustrophobic. The record selection is not huge (there is only so much space) but they seemed to have a good variety, with both new and used and also a section of local releases. The staff has been friendly and helpful whenever I have been there.
What a great place. Good people sitting at the counter.Guy working was so welcoming and friendly.Wish we lived closer so I could go every day.
Super cute spot. Best Americano Ive ever had. I love their coffee, and browsing the records. They have a great selection of new and used albums, and weve found some nice hidden gems in their bins!
This place is so cool. A bar, a coffee shop, and a record store? Amazing. Good selection, too! They have fun theme nights as well.
This place is the bomb, the staff are always amazing no one pressures you to do anything or order anything they just let you look around which is relaxing. Amazing selection of records for how small the store appears initially, not small at all, just organized perfectly!!! Best record selection in town.
Great store! Nice selection, well curated, and friendly staff. I stopped in with a friend and her 8 year old girls. The guy working taught the girls a little about records while I browsed. They loved it!
Its a shame that an all ages jazz jam belittles a 16 year old blues rock player who wanted to try playing some jazz. The bass and sax players were unable to improvise and made rude comments to him about his playing on stage. I dont recommend any new jazz player go, we definitely wont go again...
Awesome venue with an ever changing variety of musical goodies on the weekends.... but honestly I decided to write a review because they have the softest, quadruple ply toilet paper and I felt like that was major attention to detail and my bum feels like royalty.
Nice addition to the square. Friendly staff buys and sells vinyl, and theyll also make you a mean cup of cold brew. Beer and wine available as well! Fair prices on new and gently used vinyl. Support local!
One of my favorite places in Indy. I was accepted into the music scene here by attending the monthly open mic. Staff is wonderful, coffee is wonderful, atmosphere is wonderful, vinyl is wonderful, events are wonderful....did I mention I love this place?
I was really impressed with this place. The record selection is perfectly sized to walk around with a coffee or drink in hand. The vibe is really cool, and it’s a great place to stop into if you’re in the area.
The shows that are thrown here are always great. The collection of vinyls is always very diverse and well selected. The coffee is phenomenal and so are the people. One of my favorite places in Indy.
Met a friend for coffee, and while there were two staff members behind the counter, neither would leave their conversation to come to the register area to take my order. The guy working looked at me several times while talking to the woman working, and she watched me walk over to the table to wait for my friend. Neither of us ended up ordering, and just sat at the table to have our chat. The place looks cool, but I just dont have it in me to return to places that dont have time for customers.
Great customer service and selection!
Great coffee. Nice small small stage for interesting live music. I like records, but down own a player... so not much to say about records
Great record shop in Fountain Square. Cool, hip vibe and a great selection of tunes. You can purchase a beer and sip while you shop. They often have live, local music; be sure to stop in on first Fridays as there is bound to be something going on. I recently purchased a new album and realized it was warped when I got it home and out of the packaging. I was able to easily exchange for a new one and received excellent customer service. Glad to have this in the neighborhood.
All in all one of my favorite vinyl shops in Indianapolis. Friendly, helpful staff and a great selection of vinyl, including some very cheap records. Only downside is that most of the selection is still in wrapping and personally I cant afford $20+ for a single record. Otherwise, also a cool place to grab a beer or coffee and take in some live music!
Amazing store and cafe. Definitely worth the visit if you love Vinyl, music, and/or coffee.
Decent selection in a very well kept store. Easy to browse and was not very crowded. Live gigs are a thing along with a bar. I can not attest to the menu selection as I didnt not take a look.
Fun place to browse the decently-sized record collection with either tea/coffee or a beer. Fun way to while away some time.
Square Cat has an amazing selection of records, great coffee, fantastic local beer, and some of the friendliest people in the neighborhood.
Has to be one of the worst Vinyl shops I have been to. If you are not a usual their they will not help, I didnt get greeted at all not a hello or hey I was looking for select vinyls and not its broken down by genre that I could see. If I could have simply been asked if I needed help would have went FAR. Again if your not a norm everyday customer I would not go here. Possibly vinyl shop is the back burner and the bar is the main goal VERY DISAPPOINTED. I travel all over and always look for vinyl shops this is again the worst I been to. To owner simply say Hi or some sort of greeting instead of hanging out in back with your friends no one was at the front at all. 10/2/2019 @ 12AM 45min and no help left empty handed
Great coffee, fun vinyl shop. Good atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff.
Love this coffee shop. I have been going there for years and they never disappoint.
Great location and beautiful set up. The honey almond latte was ok. Still havent gotten back with me on whether or not they are purchasing vinyls yet...
I was looking for a record. JDilla donuts album to be exact and they had it. One copy And they held it for me. I lived miles away so it really meant a lot to me. Plus its hard to find. Thanks again guys.
A very nice record store with new and old vinyl. A nice coffee/beer lounge in the back, too.
Great record store. Has awesome selection and prices are reasonable.
Best record store in indy. Get ya a coffee, a beer, a record(s), or if youre lucky enough, see a show there. Great people, and a great place.
Beer? Coffee? Records? Nice little store that has all this and does a great job at supporting local musicians too. They seem to be heading more in the direction of new vinyl as opposed to used but thats ok.
What a cozy location! Great atmosphere with a great selection of records.
What a great place to be! Great music, wonderful staff, good selection of drinks... What else can you ask for?
Way too hot in there. Need some fans or somethin... Cool vinyls though, good prices too.
One of the best record stores around! Great selection, beer, and an awesome staff.
Good coffee, good beer, good music. The small concerts are KID FRIENDLY ! Yay ! I love to go back in time and browse through the old vinyl albums. We need more of such places.
Coffee and beer bar in the back of a great vinyl shop. Loved it!
I love coming here for a delicious coffee and some contemplation. They also have excellent live music, and the staff is super friendly. I highly recommend this place both as a chill hangout by yourself and a good date spot.
Beyond five stars. Has helped bring Fountain Square presenting the noteriaty it deserves.
I absolutely love the all ages music events. I drive nearly an hour across town to bring my kids here. There are so few places that combine kids and good live music. Square Cat is a local treasure.
Nice spot for vinyl finds. Hear good things about the live music too
Had a great time! Watched young amazing talent tonight and everyone was so nice and respectful.
The service here was great! They have a huge selection. I am extremely happy with their shop and I will return for many more albums.
I love the fact that Square Cat Vinyl shares my same passion for music, and people that love music.I restore antique record cabinets and record player cabinets. By converting them into Bars and Wine Cabinets is such a great way to expose the beauty of the wood. And upcycling these pieces to be very useful & look Great. After talking with Patrick at squarecatvinyl he immediately said the wine cabinets and bars would be a great fit for the people that come into the store and the people in the Fountain Square area.
Awesome staff and environment, great drink menu and a really fun place to see local music.
Great record store in Fountain Square. Nice selection and friendly staff. I will definitely return to buy more.
Great little coffee and more shop. Cool place to relax and enjoy music while still being able to hold a conversation.
Awesome absolutely awesome! If I drank coffee I would give them six stars would love to take my acoustic Duo sit on the couch and play some tunes.
Great spot to chill for a cup of coffee or a beer any time. For late night music this is the spot if you want to relax and enjoys some local tunes.
Great selection, with a listening area, as well as a coffee and booze bar toward the back. Nice slow paced place to hang and browse awhile.
Cool place with a neat vibe. Priced reasonably. The acoustics are a bit loud sometimes. I wish they served snacks or food of some sort.
Good live music, friendly faces, tasty cider drinks that are gluten free. Meowvellous time, cheers!
Cool shop with a nicely curated selection. Great beer and awesome coffee bar. Also has really cool live bands.
Went in for a quick browse. Cant wait to go back and spend more time/money. There is a great selection.
Really great venue very comfortable and incredibly supportive of the local music scene. Absolutely love the set up
Great place to hang out and find some great music and great coffee. Atmosphere is super chill and when theres a performance its a nice cozy setting.
This place is amazing! the coffee is great and it has a great selection of records. Plus the atmosphere is awesome! Definitely check this place out
Decent selection, but could be better. Its very comfortable inside on most days and pretty crowded when theres a live performance.
