Good donuts, weird policy abt masks tho
You walk in and immediately you feel like you are in a 20 somethings former dorm room.Inviting, fun & a place you could chill with a laptop while eating a/or several donuts & a cup of java.Friendly staff. At $20-25 a dozen, you arent going to eat to many. We ordered 4 & the bill was $11.44I told the gal helping us. Lets just do the the assorted dozen for $20. A much better value.Donuts are 40% larger than the franchise donut places.Donuts were amazing!I Definitely will go there again when in Indy.Try it, youll like it.
The chicken sandwiches were absolutely delicious. The donuts weren’t anything special. The service was good as it could be with just two people working during early lunch hours. The only reason I give it a 4 is because with just the two people they seemed to be struggling with keeping tables clean and emptying trash. The place just wasn’t as tidy as it could be.
AMAZING donuts. I’ve tried a lot of the vegan donuts here and they are absolutely delicious. Pistachio and chocolate are the top contenders. I don’t live in Indy, but sometimes will take a special trip downtown just to get these donuts.
Good donuts.. very pricey but it was a good treat. Limited space to eat but store and staff is charming. Dont be deterred by the location and outside of building.
This old re-purposed building turned donut shop, is casual and chill for your weekend morning to come and have a donut. I would put these donuts in the gourmet due to select donut prices, if you pick your own assortment of donuts it is $25 and i think that is for a dozen. My husband visited this location a few months back, we had trouble finding it, the building is sort of hidden and at the end of short street. The outside may fool you, but the inside has a hipster to modern feel. There was no a good selection of donuts when got there, it was going on about 11. I tried a Strawberry Granola donut, which i normally wouldnt get. The flavor wasnt terrible, however i dont think i would order it again. I dont eat glaze donuts but my husband ordered a few so i tried one of his. Ohmygosh, it was one of the best glaze donuts i have tasted in awhile if i do say so myself. The glaze donuts had been freshly made too, they were hot and just the right amount of glaze. This donut shop also helps the community by giving domestic violence survivors employment opportunities, i can appreciate a good cause. Do support this local Indy donut shop if ever youre on this side of town.
Adorable donut place. Super chill atmosphere great for studying. They serve cake and yeast donuts and have a variety of flavors. Good place for groups to sit and they have a cool fireplace in the corner. Donuts are larger than expected and pretty good. Got the maple bacon yeast donut and it was huge! Definitely worth the $3.
General American is the best! They always have exciting new types of donuts, plus your standard fare. Truly a donut for everyone in the family. They are delicious and the coffee is even better. You should stop in and support this small local establishment!!
Last time I went there it was very good the donuts were good nice atmosphere like this place
The atmosphere is great, the donuts are good to fantastic, and the staff are friendly. Vegan donuts are available, but they go fast so maybe call ahead and reserve one. Cons: no bike parking and the drinking cups are disposable. Also, it would be nice to know something about the ingredients for the non-vegan donuts.
Didnt know about this place until I ran 8 miles one morning with a buddy. Passed it and told myself I would check it out after the run. Did not disappoint. Donuts were great (oreo especially) and the late was excellent. I started running more just as an excuse to come here more!
Location and look of the place is deceiving. Donuts are pricy.. inside is very industrial looking which takes somtime to adjust. No fancy coffee there.. worth a try
They have a sign on their front door that says Mask Optional, Youre Choice.Your is always followed by a noun or gerund. Youre is the contraction of you are and is often followed by the present participle (verb form ending in -ing).Please do not support businesses that dont know how to use the proper your ... or businesses that choose to avoid the mask mandate ;).
Great donuts, had a Cream bruleigh donut and an oreo donut. They were awsome. Also had a vanilla cappuccino. Very good. Nice staff as well. Cool what they have done with the store.
Yeast donuts…raw on the inside but other then that great flavor, I think… just wished the donuts where fully cooked!
Been there a couple of times. Decent donuts, but am not quite sure I trust that they are following health mandates outlined by the county unless they are called out on it. Post from the Facebook page I think says it all. Not sure that Ill be back
I had some good vegan glaze donuts from here... Wowww
About doughnuts: the doughnut itself is nothing to write home about. But the glaze is amazing. I had caramel and lemon. Both have deep flavor and not too sweet.About shop: I loved their beautiful modern fireplace, plants, how theyve tufted the insulation making a quirky look.
I used to like their donuts but after trying actual good donuts, I realized theirs are a little over priced and pretty greasy. They also dont require masks despite local health mandates so I cant imagine they take sanitation very seriously in general. Health inspections found rodent droppings by the coffee cups.
This is by far my favorite donut place, I visit every time Im in town. Better than anything Ive found in Chicago
Yet another run of the mill, trendy donut shop putting out extremely overpriced, unoriginal, and poorly executed donuts. Save your money and go to a place that knows how to make a donut like Longs or Titus (and dont blink, or you just might miss this place going out of business like every other identical donut shop like it).
TRUE AMERICANS. GREAT PEOPLE. GREAT SERVICE. GREAT PLACE TO GET DONUTS
Vegan donut was delicious! Staff was super friendly and courteous. Service was quick. We will be back!
Whether you wear a mask or not it’s honestly not that serious. People have the free will to do as they please. Is this not America? Land of the free? This whole covid thing has really molded people to act and think differently, and forget who they were before covid.
These are really heavy greasy donuts. If you want a bad donut with candy on top, this might be your favorite place. If you want a donut go somewhere else. Seriously, the gas station has better donuts. You get the feeling like one of these owners is going to be on the news because they found nacy pelosis hat rack in his house.
It doesn’t matter if someone is wearing a mask or not, get over it! It’s not that big of a deal! If you want to wear one, then go for it! Next thing, the staff were amazing and so were the donuts! Especially, the cronuts(bennies) and the Nutella ones. I will return again in the near future.
Love the facility and decore, really good doughnuts.
Fun little place. Some cool donuts.
While the donuts seemed okay, the service was pretty sub-par. Since learning about their multiple and repeated health code violations, and certain stances they have made public, I certainly will not be returning.
This place is gross. There are major health violations, including mouse droppings everywhere near the mixing. The owner would rather argue with people over social media than actually run the business. Go to Longs or Pana instead. This place is not worth getting sick over
Best donut shop in town! It’s atrocious that so many are bashing this business for making masks optional. There are really terrible people out there.
Their food has really gone downhill. Youre better off hitting up Longs, Doughnuts & Dragons, or Landlocked.
Loved my raspberry filled donut with a cold brew. Gorgeous environment.
Ive visited GADC many times and each time, Ive been very happy with the selection. The quality of the coffee and donuts is excellent. They offer vegan and a good selection of traditional flavors. The kitchen is open and viewable to the public from the counter. The atmosphere is relaxed with a mixture of table & chairs and couches. I prefer to support small businesses where the owner is usually on site because they are committed to providing guests with the best experience. I look forward to trying their new lunch menu soon.
All of the choices are wonderful. We got several other varieties: coconut, chocolate with sprinkles, raspberry filled,They were all good! They were so good that we decided to stop on our way back home to
The yeast donuts are pretty good. The cake donuts not so much. We tried the blueberry and cinnamon cake. Both were dry and taste like oil.
Very friendly and helpful staff. A interesting selection of original donut flavors and old favorites. Fun atmosphere.
Blatantly bragging about violating Marion County Health Department orders by not requiring masks. Get your covid donuts here, hot n ready!
The most unique and gourmet donut experience I’ve had. It’s not your typical donut shop (in a good way). Their dough is very high quality and melts in your mouth. They also have the most diverse selection of flavors around. They’re not cheap, but once you taste them you won’t complain.
Cute place, yummy vegan donuts
Not that great. There are better options nearby.
This place is amazing. Ive been here many times and always end up very happy. Ive tried many of their donjs
Is what differentiated these doughnuts for me. They have varieties that are already ready, but I chose three cake types that they cooked and sprinkled while I waited. OMG! With a cup of their hot coffee.....to die for!
I don’t appreciate the stance this business owner has taken towards patrons with different viewpoints than his own. Despite the growing concern/ need to have businesses stand unified with less recognized and privileged communities, it’s important that businesses are at least kind towards their patrons. These guests are giving you money! I think this business forgot about what matters most. Do not come here or support a place that speaks out so terribly towards others. I will never come back and tell me friends to not either.
The coffee and donuts are always good here!
This bakery offers a unique experience, decent coffee and delicious doughnuts. I ordered the coffee and cream doughnut.. the frosting tasted just like coffee and the cream was perfect level of sweetness. A fireplace in the corner and some other interesting pieces, my girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay here.
Heard good things about these donuts, but after trying them, I can see it was just hype or perhaps a reaction to the appearance of the shop. Dry donuts, not strong flavors. Better choices in town by far.
I have passed by this quaint little place many times, never thought about stopping in, I can tell you, Im so happy I did, some of the BIGGEST and tastiest pastries Ive ever eaten. If you work downtown you probably pass by it as well..stop in and get some donuts for your Monday Morning Meetings and I bet everyone will ask you to be the one to bring from now on. They are fantastic, Im a customer now😋
Such a delightful oasis of quality, delicious coffee and hand crafted donut goodness! Glad I dont live nearby or Id go everyday!
Please do not consider supporting this business. Not only are the dismissive towards equality and ethnicity. They choose to criticize those in the disability community by actively using and calling former customers retarded. Appalling and disgrace. Choose to support other local shops with better morals and compassion.
I really liked the General American Donut Company! Contrary to the picture of Col. Sanders on the wall, this is not a chicken place. The do Donuts here and they do them well with options for vegan if thats your fancy and the coffee is strong. The atmosphere is really nice, its a really cool vibe. Parking is limited so as soon as you can park on the street. The staff was super friendly.
Best donuts Ive ever had. Love supporting local businesses.. Great staff, amazing donuts. Try the Bennie
Everything is insanely overpriced. Go elsewhere.
Mouse droppings throughout. Ignoring the mask mandate for the county.
I love this shop!! Most other donut shops just have drip coffee, but this place does great espresso drinks with flavor options. The donuts are great and have some really fun flavors. My only complaint would be, if you come on the weekends, it is loaded with kids and toys are all over the floor. I would recommend getting it to go on the weekends (like me) if youre not a huge fan of that atmosphere. But overall, a cozy coffee and donut shop! :)
Donuts are just okay. The cake, itself, is kind of dried out and flavorless. The frosting isn’t amazing. I like what they’re going for here with this style of donut, but they just miss the mark.
The worst donuts Ive ever had in my life. The cruller tastes like Lake Michigan beach sand. The flavor was almost awful enough to make me want to lick a boot to get the wretched taste out of my mouth... almost.
Best donuts in town.
Small businesses in indy are normally awesome, but this one doesn’t care about it’s employees, customers, or local community. sub-par donuts and even worse attitudes from the owners. go to Long’s instead!!
Violates public health guidelines, and Marion County Health Department rules. Mouse infestation as of this January. Eat at Longs instead. Support people who support their community.
Just read their health department reviews, and realized they dont care about their customers health, or believe in science. No thanks!
Does not enforce mask mandate. Owner also wears mask below his nose often.
Delicious vegan donuts and great customer service!
Super cool, hippie-style, chic interior with even sweeter staff. Vibe is chill, friendly, and relaxing. Always super clean. The donuts, sandwiches, and coffee are sooo good!! I highly suggest The Indiana sandwich, their cold brew with caramel shot, and the Reeses, Berry, & Sprinkle donut! But you truly cant go wrong with anything!! Stop by GADCO... you wont be disappointed!!
Every time I go in, they are absolutely amazing! I can only order vegan due to allergies and they’re the best vegan donuts I’ve had out of 4 states!!
They have delicious vegan donuts and thier The Vegan Sandwich a great choice.
One of the best chicken sandwiches Ive ever had! The Indiana is damn good with the biscuit-chicken-blackberry jam combo. The classic is an improvement on the Chick-fil-A sandwich I didnt know I needed 😄!
Great atmosphere, felt welcome from the moment we walked in through the door. Had a very pleasant experience and their doughnuts and coffee are amazing. Definitely our new favorite doughnut place.
Masks optional? Donuts are optional too...hard pass.
Soooo good!
Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Awesome for children, had a table with puzzles and toys, they even turned on cartoons for my son (4 y.o.) to watch. Highly recommend, we definitely will be back!!
Honestly, I’m not a fan. The donuts are overpriced and mediocre at best. The owner feels it’s appropriate to call his customers slurs. If you’re wanting local donuts, go to Long’s. This place isn’t worth your time or money.
Longs is far better.
Owner is always disrespectful to us when we come in, even though we are regulars. I feel like I’m making her day harder by buying her donuts. Recent Instagram posts have also made me realize that this business is not good for the community.
Super delicious and fast service. Ordered a half dozen on Uber eats. My only complaint. Two of the donuts was not what I ordered. With that being said they are still delicious and my boss and I was very pleased with them regardless of the two we didn’t order. One of our operators had the coconut one and said it was incredible. The creme brûlée’ was to die for! All in all it was a good experience and a must try if you haven’t already!
Good doughnuts, tried a variety and enjoyed them all, definitely will go back
I love the apple fritters! If youre one of the lucky few to snag one because they only serve this one on the weekends. GADCO has some of the best coffee to go right along with their creative doughnut selection.
They have great vegan options but sell out quickly. Make sure you call ahead to see if they still have some...sometimes they will set one or 2 donuts aside if you ask nicely 😉. Vegan donuts are rotating flavors. New lunch menu starts at 11am.The vegan lunch options are chili, fries, seitan tenders, the vegan which is a fried seitan sandwich with pickles. The seitan is usually sold out by Wednesday.
Great donuts-- unfortunately it looks like the donut recipe calls for intolerant and divisive comments on race and disabilities! Ill be looking for a new donut shop that doesnt pride itself on tone-deaf commentary in todays political climate.
The donuts are decent, but pricey. I recently learned the owners are bigots. That’s a deal breaker. Don’t support people who hurt your community.
Fire longs better tho
Love the friendly service and theme
