Wonderful Used Bookstore. I cant say the same about RFC who was once a friend I should have never worked for. Jennifer Patterson was right when I first started working at the Bookmine she told me that the first two years would be OK. But then the real RFC would come out. Oh boy was she right. I worked at the bookmine for 15 years. So glad its my past but I do love posting photos and giving my opinion for Im still Standing.
What a place! This bookstore is a true Jem. The books are stacked from the floor to the ceiling and all the shelves are arranged to make a maze, at least thats how I felt and it was book heaven. They are also unbelievably organized with that many books! I couldnt believe it! They even have shelves with books per vegetable which I thought was hilarious and adorable.
What can I say about the Mine of Books, the Chamblin Bookmine that hasnt already been said? If youre looking to knock out 10-, 20-, 30,000 steps in one day, this is the place to go. Unfortunately, youll be sidestepping, one half-step at a time as you step up on your toes and squat down to the floor to read every single one of the titles on the book spines. Friend, helpful folks work here. ENJOY!
Bought a dungeons and dragons book from them 2 days ago for ½ the cover price the book turned it wasnt quite what I was looking for called today and asked if I could come trade it in on a different dungeons and dragons book they have that they are selling for the same price as what I paid for the book I bought ½ the cover price so pretty much just a even swap they lose nothing was told no we cant do that but.... if you want to come up here we will buy the book from you for 10-15 dollars depending on the condition then you can put that credit down on the other book you want what a scam they want us to spend our hard earned money with locally owned businesses And I would love to do that but this is such a scamI find better prices and better customer service on eBay
I love this bookstore. I live an hour away but I continue to make the journey about once a month or so because its so great. The staff are friendly. The selection is great. The store is very large and the smell of books is so relaxing that you could just fall asleep. The sections of the store are clearly labeled, so you can find everything you need. The prices really cant be beat. You can also turn in books you dont want anymore for store credit, which you can use to buy more books there. You can rest assured knowing that your old books are in good hands, and that theyre going to people who also love reading. Overall, this is just a great place to go and I believe every book lover should visit if theyre in the area.
Love this place. I thought their Downtown location was good, but this location is a world unto itself. I could get lost for weeks in this space. The organization is worth noting, very well done for what must have taken years to get right. If you enjoy the hunt for a good book, this spot is the best.
Great selection of science! Only criticism is that there should be a better consolidation of all physical sciences and other social sciences in an area where less main traffic flows. Maybe create a easy map for customers to find certain categories within store to better navigate without having to ask because we all know nobody likes asking for help.
I have never been to such a cool store. Seriously, you cant imagine the sheer amount of books in this place until you walk in. Its a GIGANTIC building, and every bit of space has been allocated to bookshelves and thousands of books. I lost my husband for a good bit of time when we went the first time, thats how big it is! They have great deals on used books, and a lot of different discounts and fair pricing on newer books as well. Their trade in policy is also a really cool idea; I plan on bringing a huge box of books on my next visit to get some trade in points on a new round of books! 10/10, if youre a book lover, you definitely have to experience it at least once. Its my new favorite place!
A magical place. Just rows and rows of books, its a wonderful place to have a walk. Weve started a fancy book collection in honor of the great Ron Burgundy with purchases from Chamblin. We had to add more bookshelves to the house to accommodate all the extra books.
This is a favorite!! Every genre you can imagine is covered, and hours can be lost finding both sought and unsought gems. Prices are fair and books from well loved to never opened are available. Every time I leave I promise to not be so long in returning...
A fantastic used book store. Walk in and its like youve entered a magical world where the rooms and volumes of books just never end. I swear that many rooms cannot fit into the building. All the books are well organized by category. They pay well for your books to.
Super cool bookstore. Reserve plenty of time to browse!
Amazing (not) little store, great local business. Well organized and you can get lost for days in here looking for anything you want. The staff is very welcoming and helpful!
Chamblins is such a fun place to go with isle after isle of books! They almost always have whatever random book Im looking for. The staff is always nice and helpful as well.
This place is huge! So many books, it was really overwhelming. Book nerds could get lost in here for days, fun place to go for a first date for a couple of readers, and excellent for those who want to support a small local business.
Great place to get a book. You can bring in your books to get a book credit and use it to get your next fix. People here are nice and you loose track of time scanning through the books.
This is the most AMAZING used bookstore I’ve ever been to! 3 football fields of books are here. They even have a glass case with hard-to-find first editions and signed copies. Such a Jax gem!
This place is wonderland for book lovers.Aside from this being an amazing book emporium, theres just tons of hidden little gems all around. Like little Easter eggs...you just have to keep an eye out. When you go... Remember to look up by at the high shelves (found a dusty treasure there on my last visit) and to look down at the lower shelves.Always great service: enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff.
A Jacksonville landmark. Been coming here since I was a kid. Convenient trade-in program to help with new books purchases. You can easily spend hours in here combing the shelves for interesting topics, or get with the friendly staff to find what you are looking for.
Huge selection of books which is comparable to McKay’s Bookstore in Knoxville. But Chamblin’s prices are much, much higher than McKay’s. Store is well organized. They give you about $2 a book in trade. However, I found a book I have not seen anywhere, so I left a happy camper after my first visit there.
More books than youre imagining just looking at it. Like, imagine a number and triple it. More than that. Im about 60% certain theres a door to another world hidden in the book maze. Fantastic!
Lots of great books. Dont have everything, but such a large collection that you will be able to find something enjoyable. Some books are beat up, but if you look hard enough then there will some in good condition. Great prices and friendly staff. Just dont get lost in the maze of their selves!
They always have what Im looking for! Super friendly and lovely staff.
Its a perfect store for finding rare books for sure. There is without doubt books here for everyone in your home. And I rather go here than the library now.
This is the book store in the entire world… I grew up in Jacksonville and make sure to go here every time I come home to visit.
Great variety and an amazing place to get and be lost! Expect to spend 1/2 a day here
Chamblin Book mine earns a 5star review for their work in saving and reusing books.Their staff is always helpful and friendly and the selection speaks for it self. There is too much to see in one trip.Books are a resource that are often overlooked.Chamblin Bookmine is in the recycling business and should be appreciated for keeping all these books out of a landfill which is where unwanted books go to die.We have a great resource here. Dont be upset that they have tons of books all over the place! They have saved more books than they can handle. If you like to read or want to learn a new language or about history or about cooking or pretty much anything you can think of having a need for they will most likely have it.Whats amazing is how well they know where and what books they have in stock. Id say they have many hundreds of thousands of books in stock.Come and buy some books and help them to recycle the ones you want. They also buy books and give in house credit for books you may want.
If you are into physical copies of books, this is the place for you! The books are organized by topic. There are so many books that it feels like the Paris catacombs of books! It doesnt matter what you are looking for, they will have at least one book on your topic! Dont come if you get claustrophobic easily though as the aisles are very close together in some spots! Its a great experience though!
This is a humongous bookstore. We like to bring in old books and trade them in for something new-to-us! Fast and friendly service.
This place is a goldmine. I’ve been shopping the Roosevelt store for over 30 years & it’s still the best & largest & an English major’s BEST friend!
Pretty much any book youve been looking for.
Greatest bookstore in the Jax/St. Augustine area. New and used. Trade ins accepted. The place is huge!
The woman in the childrens section was so nice and helpful! Anyone needing to know ANYTHING regarding education for children or anything relating to stories for children .... she can help!
Im addicted to this store and visit everytime Im in town. I travel a lot and like to always visit the local used book store, this is the most massive one Ive found. It is amazing to me that there would be a book they dont have. They are also an excellent source if a teacher needs multiple copies of classics, they have large sets of those.
Chamblin Bookmine is a great place. It is small looking on the outside, but the inside is gigantic, and can find anything you are looking for.
An intricate maze filled to the roof with literature of any kind. Really a wonderful store with great prices.
An amazing little place that in my opinion has been an enormous contribution and blessing not only to myself when Im in this area but to the entire community of knowledge seeking individuals looking to expand their consciousness through literature. As a global Google guide I easily rate this little treasure a 10/10..
I always enjoy coming here. I love getting lost in the maze of books, and I usually find something new and interesting to read.
The place is huge! So big, they have a map you can use. Much better organized than most used book stores. Prices are pretty similar. Staff is very helpful. Next time, Ill have a list with me so I know what Im looking for.
I have been going here since I was a kid and I absolutely love this place. There are millions of books here on every subject imaginable! The inside is literally a maze of books and you could easily spend hours exploring and finding amazing things. They offer antique book and DVDs as well. You can even trade in your old books and DVDs for store credit. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys reading or who is looking for a special book or place to explore!
If you love books you are MISSING out if you have never been here. Plan for hours, you’ll get lost. So much to see!
All way a great place to go for used or new books great discounts.
Great selection, decent prices. Staff could be friendlier and more helpful. Overall good experience.
Best book store ive every been to, its a journey and well worth the trip!!
Ive never seen so many books! Great selection! Great staff! Great prices! ❤️❤️❤️
First time here, definitely not the last! Endless amounts of books, plus an awesome collection of vinyls and TV show dvds, among other stuff. Cant wait to go back
You need books? This place has lots of them. Staff is very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I have been a steady customer for decades! Three enthusiastic thumbs up!!!
I trade in all my video game strategy guides here for cash. Im never disappointed.
I love this place. Nice to see how many people are still readers.
Excellent dvd selection, nice staff.
A Great book store !! Overwhelming at first. Long rows with multiple rooms. Its like an Escape game at times. Endless slap full shelves of so many categories, a maze of reasonably priced books. Very helpful staff. I have liked this place for decades. Just ignore the politics at the front of the store.
This place was amazing. Friendly staff and so many books on anything you could think of. If you are a book lover this will be your happy place.
If you have never been here, take time to visit, well organized. Staff is great and they will have what you re looking for, or what you didnt know you needed🦎
Always love Chamblins. They have a huge selection of books and a great atmosphere. I could spend a whole afternoon in there, easy. One time I was buying books using money left over from a gift card I had, and when the total was a few cents over the amount left on the card the cashier rounded it down for me. Just a warning for people with claustrophobia, though—some of the spaces between shelves can become very narrow!
Incredible selection of books! Prices are so-so. Some good, some too high. If you can get past their radical politics, it is a nice place to while away many a quiet afternoon (and spend way more than you planned - so be careful!) It just keeps going and going, dont get lost. There are probably lost children living in there who will emerge someday...
How could I not give this place five stars? Theyve got just about everything and its all relatively organized. The only hard part is finding EXACTLY what youre looking for amongst the droves of books which line every square inch of the store. Absolutely worth visiting.
Absolutely love this place! Room after room of books. Theyre priced very fairly and Ive loved every book Ive gotten. The staff is always sweet and welcoming too.
A great hidden gem. Helpful knowledgeable staff, even saved me some money. Will be back, for sure.
Every time I visit Jax, I will stop by here or their downtown location. I always return home to Virginia with several books. Such an amazing bookstore, the narrow aisles just mean more room for books!
This is definitely one of those little hole In the wall hidden gems of a book store. DVDs are available too.Absolute wall to wall floor to ceiling selection. Its just not possible to not find a book you want here. They also but new and used books for cash or store credit.
Always love going here. The books are great and the people are always super helpful
If you are a book lover this place is heaven. Tons of books and shockingly well organized for the quantity. Cant imagine the work that goes into this store. Very good prices. In fact, I like this place so much I think I will add it to the list of places I plan to haunt.
If you cannot find a book at the library- then this is the place!! They have discounted books - walls and walls of them to choose from!!!
As an unabashed Bibliophile with what I thought to be a tremendous horde of print, this place is like heaven! More books than one person could hope to consume in a lifetime! A delightful maze of anything you could think of. Always a pleasure to visit! (And secretly my lotto fantasy dream location)
Best bookstore ever. I could wonder those isles forever and never get bored!
Amazing little treasure for book lovers
Great place for books. Did not like that a employee was talk about my dog and it hurt my wife feeling. Dobermans are great. Just because they are big doesnt mean they are going to hurt you.
Super awesome to find cheap yet good quality manga. Ive purchased half my Naruto collection here and I love checking back frequently as theres always new books restocked each time.
Over 2 million books across 55,000 square feet! Mostly organized, from children to teen, mystery to biography, sciences and arts to education, and including Very Old Book Section. Not a typical book store! Started in 1970s it just kept growing. The staff is amazingly helpful. Warning: if you love books, DO NOT plan on only an hour to browse! The aisles are narrow and rambler a bit. This made it charming to me! An unusual incident happened. My service dog began sniffing and pulling at one group of shelves. Hee doesnt do that. His name is Shakespeare. The photograph is him, sniffing THE SHAKESPEARE COLLECTIONS! (Also, be aware of restroom needs. Theres a shopping center and service station nearby.FYI)
Love this place. It’s a bookworms heaven. Helpful staff and they have any book you could ever think of.
Love exploring the shelves for all my favorites and anything else I think I need. Can get lost (on purpose) for hours here.
We love Chamblins!
Always an adventure looking for books. Amazing selection. Give yourself plenty of time to wander around. Helpful staff too. Bring in your used books and get cash or credit. Credit stays on the books until you use it all. No rush. We moved out of the area but come back each time were in the area.
Awesome place! My new favorite place!
Always something new to find here. Great place to spend an hour or two.
Incredible selection. This is one of my happy places.
Ive been going to chamblins since I can remember. My grandma has gone there since their original location. Its a magical place even for people who dont love to read. The only thing is sometimes the employees are a little rude but overall its amazing.
Amazing selection of books. Thousands and thousands!!! Check it out even if you are not a book lover.. it is a sight to see!
So many books. I love it. Its a maze you want to get lost it.
Best bookstore ever. Literally end to end and floor to ceiling covered in literature. Fair prices and an amazing kind staff. This is my permanent book store.
Amazing bookstore. I travel from out of state, just to come here. Never disappoints.
This place is a bookworms dream. If you want a Labyrinth of books and a maze of fun this is a place to go
For anyone looking for a literature and this is an amazing store with an incredible selection of every genre Ive ever seen at a fair price
My favorite bookstore. Ever.
