My first time trying a Russian bakery and the food was very good we had pancakes muffins a croissant and a croissant French toast. The pancake is almost an inch thick. The croissants are very flaky the bacon was perfectly crisp. Great atmosphere seats about 20 inside and when we were there was run by The owner who did the cooking and serving is a very nice guyСпасибо, что познакомили меня с русской едой
This place was exactly what I expected. I got a ham and cheese croissant with two espressos. This is a breakfast or lite lunch i would expect to get in Europe, but it’s right here in my backyard. The smells, ambiance, and food selection are definitely telling of this. The owner is really chill and very hospitable. Talked about a lot of things while he was simultaneously making food and coffee. Having that type of service is something you don’t really get here in the US too often. Definitely glad I tried this place out.
I’ve been here multiple times and it was always a great experience. Every time I went it was a one-man show - I’m talking orders, cooking, waiting - but he was super friendly, patient, helpful, creative and innovative. I tell him I’m starving and want a snack before my lunch comes out and he quickly whipped up something off menu that was delicious. Two different times! You don’t get that level of dedication and attention at most places. Everything I’ve ever had has always been delicious and I look forward to my next visit.
This is a great little bakery hidden away in Five Points. They have delicious croissant sandwiches and an assortment of baked goods and drinks (picture is the guava pastry). They also have a small outside seating area that allows you to enjoy your meal when the weather is great (and get some good people watching in). The food here beats Panera any day. Plus you get to support a local business!
I ONLY GOT THE GRITS. I DID NOT LIKE THE BASE IT WAS COOKED IN. IT KINDA MADE IT TASTE LIKE A GRITS DRESSING. IT WAS 5.00
Great little place for breakfast! My friend and I ordered the Croissant quarters to share, potato pancakes with eggs and kielbasa and a croissant with eggs, avacado and cucumber. The Croissants quarters were amazing. So fresh and crispy with that sweet dusting on top, the syrup was even warm(my fav) The croissant sandwich was a special order and he made it perfectly. Everything was hot and tasty! He brought all the condiments we needed and refilled her sweet tea when he delivered the food. I will absolutely stop in when Im in the area again.
Croissants were amazing. The French toast croissant with Nutella on the side, hot and fresh was awesome. The breakfast croissants were buttery, crispy, crunchy bacon… overall great flavors. Alex was attentive. Looking forward to go back.Recommended
If youre not an extremely sensitive person and you understand that there are different personality types and different cultural norms, then you wont have a problem dining at this place. Ive never had any issues with the owner. The quality of the food has always been excellent and I like the variety. I have enjoyed everything that I have ordered so far and always come back.
I dropped by out of curiosity and I wasnt disappointed. Despite the business being busy, the owner was friendly while he waited on me. Ill definitely come here again. And if you happen to stop here too, you should absolutely try the almond saffron latte.
Great experience. We and another couple went for lunch. All enjoyed their sandwiches (3 had different paninis). Owner took our orders, served us and made us feel comfortable. French fries were perfectly fried and sandwiches very flavorable. We will return.
I actually enjoyed my food!! However a simple critique. Which was something that the owner left off of my food (something as simple as alfalfa sprouts). The owner tells me he will no longer except orders form me. I just find it very sad and unprofessional.
Sub par food, worse people. try sweet theory instead.edit// very good! and i moved here from…….(wait for it!)…….jacksonville!! ✌🏻
I think most of the 1 star reviews are over-sensitive people. We are visiting Jacksonville from North Georgia. The owner was very busy as he was the only one working but he still made time to ask us about our day and take any questions. Food was delicious. Will definitely be back again. Awesome place and owner over all.
UPDATED REVIEW:Hey - thanks for the introduction Alex. :) really appreciate you taking the time to be a stalker and looking up my information (yes its public I know) but since you know my title, you must know that I speak with customers on a day to day basis and have a deep understanding of how to treat people.I just left one review without context because the other bad reviews spoke for themselves, but since the owner, Alex, wants me to write about my terribly rude experience sure. Lets get into it.My friend and I walked past this place and after browsing the menu outside, we decided it would be a great place to get lunch (pft, at least we thought)We walked in and my friend ordered first - he asked for recommendations from Alex and was already met with a rude and short attitude. My friend was already spending a good deal of money (meal + latte) with several upcharges he requested. We didnt know there was an automated tip that was applied and to be honest, it didnt make sense to tip before service. Either way, my friend was compliant with changing the tip amount because sure - if thats what you require, its fine. We would have done it (also Alex - you must have forgotten to include in your response that I didnt get to order yet, we were paying separately = aka more money into your restaurant)Instead of letting him change the tip amount, we were kicked out of the restaurant and told to leave. It was so confusing, absolutely terrible customer service. Im letting all of peers, colleagues, and followings to NEVER step foot in this establishment - its a good 2k - 3k people in the city of Jacksonville. What an embarrassing addition to Riverside. In the meantime Alex, you should probably look into the meaning of oppression. Perhaps you should properly pay your workers a livable wage so they dont have to heavily rely on tips.
This place is super yummy. Organic greens, fresh baked croissants and sweet treats to go. The owner is funny and nice.
So somebody doesnt like your food, thats okay correct, we dont all have to like the same things, it doesnt mean that its a personal Vendetta or an attack on yourself, or your Cafe oh, maybe they just didnt like what they had? Isnt that okay? Did you not know that before coming into this business? To say on your own personal website that youre going to find somebodys name and basically humiliate a person for a negative review is not only incredibly immature, but it is just cruel. As it is constructive criticism. Individuals should have the right to not like something. Thats okay, you have plenty of other people you have no right to try to put some random person on blast on a professional page. When I saw that comment I was absolutely disgusted. Best of luck LOL
Looking for cafes near the museum on riverside, found Ribault Bakery and had breakfast. Excellent food, nice selection of drinks, tasty pastries. Highly recommended. Our favorite was the Shakshuka.
Just found out they had vegan croissants while biking by. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Staff was very inviting and kind. Space was super cute. 10/10. Will be going all the time.
The owner is very confident is his ability to ambush customers not familiar with his business practice. It took longer to write his rebuttal on Facebook book for bad service than our time in the store, less than a minute. Oh that 1star, is one to many.
My daughter and I walked into the empty restaurant and were told that masks are not allowed inside so we left. As we were walking out he said, “that was easy”.
Great little place! Had lunch here today and tried a variety of things. My wife tried a breakfast bowl #1 (grits, eggs cooked to order, toast, and choice of meat), a cappuccino, and a vanilla iced latte. I had a Primator (a rich Czech Double Bock) and a ham and cheese panini. All was tasty and the atmosphere was pleasant. My only regret is that we were too full to consider baked desserts, which looked delicious.
Stumbled across this quaint eatery while my wife was having her hair done. Glad I stopped in. Had a great vanilla latte and quick breakie.
Amazing food and service!!!! Its also nice to find a place with great coffee too!!
Great local bakery. I had the avocado Sriracha breakfast sandwich with eggs and bacon. I loved every bite! Got a quality pastry and cappuccino for a good price as well.
Watch out for this Russian firecracker. Pastries are bland, babushka would be disappointed, but at least they are better than this owners attitude. Consider ordering takeout if you dont want the wrath of Stalin brought upon you demanding a larger tip than deserved. Dosvedanya.
Owner Alex is the absolute best, the food is great and I really appreciate his detail to things that make my visits there enjoyable. A gem of a place.
Amazing and delicious bakery! The gentleman who assisted us, was friendly and helpful, I believe he was Russian or Ukrainian. The pastries we tried were sooo good! And the coffee was great as well. Definitely will come again!
Not the friendliest service - pastries are fresh but their “spiced chia tea latte” is literally watered down milk that they may have let a tea bag sit in. I asked for light ice, which I clearly didn’t get and definitely didn’t help with the fact that it was watery already. Disappointed in the experience and will probably not go back.
The grits are incredible, I think they use chicken broth in them. Portion sizes are very generous so if youre hungry this place is where its at.
Ive been wanting to dine here for a while and Im glad I finally did!The food was extremely good, and unique for the area - honesty Im tired of riverside only having tacos, pizza, and Americanized asian foods...Theres a lot to choose from on the menu, and a whole host it coffee styles to choose from.I will definitely be back!
Assuming the owner is the one who came to our table … he is rude and wanted to charge us $5 to share a sandwich. We left and he got nothing!
Stopped here for breakfast before heading to the airport. We all had the breakfast croissant sandwiches and they were so good and HUGE!! Cheesy grits were also very tasty, and we tried their tres leches cake also! We were on vacation for a week prior and to be honest, this was some of the best food and coffee we had the entire time!!! Would give these guys 10 stars if I could!
The owner is rude and the service is slow. Update owner decided to call me out over $2.00 put in the jar but always tip at end of a meal. He made sure the meal came out late he asked about bloody Mary told him was not good but we told him not to worry since we still paid for it. He felt we had no right to finish our meal in house said he would bring to-go boxes. He tried to say we would complain about sandwiches but we said his sandwiches are very good thus the reason we came back. His attitude is all wrong. Other customers had to witness his crass outburst. Hope everybody else has a better experience.
Bland food. Rude people
Thankful for delicious tea with almond milk and a decadent double chocolate muffin for breakfast 😊 I was having a pretty stressful morning until this point! Really appreciate the yummy ginger cookie #lagniappe He keeps them in a jar at the checkout... you should try one! I’m heading back for lunch, plan to buy some to take home!😋
I will be glad when the construction is done on the road so these business can get their much deserved recognition. Ribault feels like a hidden gem, and is a must!
Extremely unprofessional staff and a very long wait for a small order. Needless to say I will never spend my hard earned money there again. There are too many quality restaurants in this area to be treated rude by Mr. Alex and waste money here. Ill support the Metro Diner instead.Nice false reply BTW. Just shows the level of maturity.
Hole in the wall independent local restaurant with delicious pastries including yummy warm croissant sandwiches! Good to have a nice pickup option during the pandemic.
Outstanding scene for quality Breakfast. I wish there were more places like this around town. Ambience is similar to Fresnos scene.
This place is horrible! Definitely fake advertising! I’m not a picky person but for my first experience this was a complete disappointment for my taste buds
Breakfast and the feeling here is excellent. Looking forward to going back again. This place has a good design. Wish it was closer to my house, I would come every week.
Great food service is very very slow
Espresso was delicious. Very welcoming and hospitable, will definitely return to try other menu items.
The matcha latte didnt really taste like matchaThe pear almond paste tart was overcooked and hard. Almond taste was way too intense.Maybe it was an off day
Alex took care of me, and man he was awesome. Croissant sandwiches were PERFECT
Breakfast, mmm, super yummy. Visited on Sat I believe. Looking forward to returning with my relatives. The place has a nice feel to it. Food is similar to a cafe in Portland I liked.
Why do people come here? Why are they still open? Unwelcoming. No thx!
This delightful little spot is a hidden gem in 5 Points, serving breakfast and lunch from open to close. My hubby and I have eaten here a few times and are never disappointed. The quality is outstanding and the flavors exploding. The ambience is also very comfortable, being both quaint and modern.
Wonderful. The food is delicious, and the coffee is immaculate. Highly recommended
If we could give this bakery 100 stars we would. The food and pastries are delicious and always fresh!
A little bit on the pricey side however the portions were pretty big. I got a lot of potatoes and they were absolutely delicious. The young woman working behind the counter was super helpful and attentive to our table. I didnt even know this place existed so this was my first time there. Id like to return.
This place is awesome! They have the best breakfast potatoes I have ever eaten. Very friendly people, the owner came out and talked to us for a long time. We also had the grilled cheese with onions and bacon, so good!! Go here, you wont regret it!
Such a lovely petite place with authentic cousin with a French touch, made with love from Odessa, the owner welcoming everyone, you will feel yourself like in home, plus, plus
I’ve only had their macaroons and red velvet... and they’re out of this world! It was the best I’ve had in a while! A bit pricy but totally worth it!
The bacon I ordered was cold so when I brought the concern up to the owner, he told me that the weather was so hot I should just place it outside- ironic of him to have called a previous customer in an earlier review a clown because that statement in itself is clownery. In case you thought you were purchasing your food from a competent mature adult, make your decision to shop here accordingly.
Coffee was subpar, croissant was good but not warmed up. Sad because this place used to be really good. We sat outside waiting for our coffee. The gentleman working the register brought it out. I asked about cream and sugar, he said rudely that most customers get it themselves. And walked away. There was hardly a choice for cream and sugar. We left our coffee and croissant because we felt uncomfortable.
They charged me $15 for two bland scrambled eggs, plain hardly cooked rosemary potatoes (that were $2 extra), and frozen sausage patties. They also charge $2 extra if you say your friend isnt ordering and might eat some off your plate, per the owners policy. We first spent $7.50 on pastries that were hard. I think you guys need to do better. Improve the quality of food and the policies.
Why would go here? Honestly I’m asking you. I have not found a reason to ever return. So many great options in the area....this is not one.
Food is Overpriced.Owner/Cook has horrible Customer Service attitude & regard/appreciation of his Customers. He is very rude & not very welcoming. Blatantly asks for tips even though it is not a full service restaurant but a bakery/coffee house. He blatantly Complains about Customers that are Freelance/Self-Employed sitting for more than 1hr in his place when the place is empty and youve alreadyspent money on coffee, baked good, and sometimes lunch & you are frequent Customer. He misses the point of a Coffee house and having loyal and frequent Customers.
Awesome place! Owner was great and gave us some good spots to visit on our trip
Great spot for coffee, breakfast or lunch. Cozy and they have delicious pastries and cocktails!
Got ligma from this place
Horrible customer service.I asked if they used real maple syrup, the reply was that it was regular store bought syrup. And if I wantHealthy food, then I came to the wrong place.
My shakshuka was absolutely delicious! I work around the corner and will definitely be back for lunch again
Best place ever! Good portions and AMAZING flavor. Very friendly staff. I wish I could give more stars. Everything tastes so beyond good!!
Oh my word! I love coming here. Today I tried the almond saffron iced latte. They added 2 shots of espresso for me. Its sooooo good. The flavor is spicy and sweet and unique. We love their pastries and evening desserts! Its a must visit place.
Me and my four friends came her to have lunch . We go to school near here. One of my friend brought her own food ok . And the rest we ordered. We have been waitin for 15 mins . Then gives everyone back all there money and tells us that we didn’t even tip to leave ! I will never come back and don’t recommend! The owner is very rude
Horrible experienceOwner/ Manager was very rude!!!!I ordered a sausage and cheese croissant and it wasn’t toasted or even warmed upI literally was verbally attacked by manager and was told if “I don’t want it then throw it away but no refunds!!!”This restaurant is not customer friendly and I would not support this business.Nice response from owner, makes no sense at all!
Very good brunch fare with a Russian twist. Ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich and it was very good. Everyone was happy with their orders.
I’ve tried a few different things here. Their breakfast pancake is really good (Make sure you add something fruity inside it). They have a really good selection of pastries as well. I’d suggest that you get one of their Napoleons. That said, their lunch items are a little bit on the greasy side. Still tasty but not my favorites.
Edit: put in another order a couple days later to give the place a second try. This time the owner let me come to the restaurant to tell me they wouldnt serve me because of the below review. They cancelled my online pickup order because they were too busy without telling me. I drove 30 minutes for no reason and there were 6 people in the restaurant. Thanks, guys.
I’ve never dined in, only ordered through Uber Eats. Considering portion sizes the prices are fair. I think I’ve only ordered one thing I didn’t care for before, but to be fair scrambled eggs might taste better fresh off the grill (I will try again when we are allowed to leave our houses and dine in again!!). I actually find myself craving the iced mocha with almond milk. I order it every time I place an order. The guava cream cheese croissant was by far my favorite baked treat I’ve tried. The Nutella croissant comes in a close second. Thank you for remaining open to serve our community during these times.
Food was good coffee was good hubby said his blueberry muffin was delicious havent tried my cherry tart yet.. prices are a little high. Got a Lamb gyro panini a coffee and two pastries hubby was with me... No side was offered with sandwich. Nothing ....Not even a pickle..
Very nice and friendly service. The coffee is very nice and the baked items are fantastic! If you need a quick pick-me-up or just need to sit down for a bit, come down to Ribault!
Cool place, I recommend the pistachio latte and shrimp and grits. Croissant’s are also some of the only good ones I’ve found in town.
Would never recommend to anyone. The owner is completely rude. There was an issue with my food and the owner came out from the back being verbally aggressive with me asking me what my problem is and mention the reason he dont want to correct my order is because its costing him money!!! The cashier was afraid to tell him something was wrong with the order because he would get mad. I actually feel sorry that she has to work in such a hostile environment just to make a living. Not to mention his finger nails were filthy and hes the preparing the food. YUCK!!! Im happy that other customers witness how nasty and inconsiderate he is to paying customers. Spend your money at another local business who values and appreciates you!!!!!
Definitely my favorite breakfast spot. You can get traditional breakfast here but its just different (and in a good way!). They have a lovely variety of lattes, teas, coffees and pastries with vegan options for all. Ive come here maybe 5-6 times for breakfast and lunch and its been great every time. The cashier/waitress girl seemed a little icy at first but overall, she provides attentive service and makes great lattes and such. I think she may just be a little shy. They were closed for remodeling recently wasn’t listed on Google or any meal delivery apps (like uber eats or grub hub) but I think they’re all finished now. Might not hurt to call ahead though. Overall, I would recommend this place to my friends and family for sure!
Today I had the unfortunate experience of being a paying customer at this establishment. My friend and I walked inside a little after 10am, there were no other patrons inside. I didn’t think anything of it due to the pandemic restaurants are quite empty inside, even on this very popular side of town. We ordered our food at the cashier... they make you pay ahead for dine in. Still didn’t think anything of it. The online system automatically asks for a tip, which is strange because again we are dining in. Who tips before receiving service?.... I hadn’t received my food nor had time to rate the service.I go ahead and GIVE a standard tip because I’m not sure how good this place will be and planned on adding to tip AFTER I’ve been served. I believe highly in tipping based on experience, I myself have worked at a restaurant when I was younger. I understand the hard work that’s involved in serving people food.I walk to the restroom where there’s a sign on the door that states “you can’t pee for free, restrooms are for paying customers only”.... I should have known after reading that sign what to expect. My friend and I seat ourselves at the table and await our food. Some big bald headed man appears from the back and places a slip of paper on our table and says “this paper pertains to 1 of you sitting here” then he walks away. The slip of paper reads “THIS RESTAURANT COLLECTS TIPS FOR DINING PREMISES. TIP APPROPRIATELY OR TAKE IT TO GO. THIS IS NON-“ it ends there but I’m presuming the next word is “negotiable”.I can’t believe this man placed this on our table, no one is owed a tip... a tip is earned. The girl at the front lacked personality, and did not cater to us at all. And the fact that she looked at the receipt and went to the cook the owner to tell that one of us did not tip her is EXTREMELY AMUSING in itself. At first I felt bad for her but the fact that she went to “tell” this man that she didn’t receive a tip from both of us when she had not done a single thing to EARN her tip is laughable.I then go to yelp to read the reviews left for this restaurant which are laughable, like down right knee slapping type of funny! Not to mention the service was slow, even though we were the only 2 people in the restaurant and our orders were simple. My friend goes to the front and asks for her order to be made to-go. The bald headed man reappears and asks if she will be tipping the “cashier/server” who at this point served us faucet water and mimosas. My friend politely tells him no and continues waiting for her food.We drank the mediocre mimosas and faucet water before he handed us that slip of paper. I would not have dared consumed anything after receiving that pre printed slip of paper. The “server” finally brings my plate.... after waiting 30min for grits, eggs, and bacon... my friend receives her omelette 11 min later.I leave my untouched plate at the table and leave. I was afraid he may have done something to my food after displaying aggressive behavior over the “cashier/server” not receiving tips from both of us. If it were possible to give this place 0 stars I would.
Great place very good food
Absolutely the best croissants in town if not anywhere. They are huge and perfectly flaky, and look like a work of art! The ham & cheese and chocolate croissants were both amazing. French pastry quality. Cant wait to have lunch there!
Food is AMAZING. This place will not disappoint. The ham croissants and the best. And of course the bakery sweets for dessert!
The best breakfast croissaunt Ive had in a long time👌
Potatoes pancakes with sour cream, bacon and eggs. I literally crave it all the time. I go here once a week at least! Homemade, fresh, on point treats!!! TheBaklava, the eclairs, the cranberry orange muffin, the tarts!!! And a iced latte that makes your day feel like a musical. Anytime Im in five points, this is where I find my sweeties.
I liked the global vibe and owner is engaging. Croissants were good, though slightly burnt the day I was there. Was hoping for more variety like the patisseries in Paris or in my hometown, but the coffee was good and chocolate croissant authentic.
I was between 2-3 stars and decided to go with 3.My family of 5 came in on Sunday morning, and we ordered two breakfast bowls ($9.99 each), one muffin ($3), one coffee ($4). My kids don’t eat a ton of breakfast, so my wife and I just ordered bowls for ourselves, and we were going to let the kids eat off of ours. The lady taking our order asked if we’d like share plates, and we said we would. She the gives us the total of $39. I felt like it was a little high, so after I had paid and tipped ($46) I began to add up everything we ordered, and could only get to about $29. So I asked for an itemized receipt. Now let me preface - I think any business should be able to charge anything they want for any (legal) service. However, I also believe they should publish rates any time they charge something that is not culturally a standard. They charged $3 extra per share plate, and .25 per every water cup. It added about a 25% increase to what our bill was before the add-ons. What made it worse is the waitress asked me “would you like share plates?” I said sure, and she never mentioned any additional cost. I felt like I had been sneakily sold these.I started reading the reviews, wondering if other people had similar experiences, and find the that owner verbally attacks everyone who has anything negative to say. Which is unbelievable that any business owner would act this way.Why did i give them three stars? Because the food was delicious. Will I be back? Probably not.Update to owner: only 4 people ate, and my bill was $44. That’s $11 per person if we’re “doing the math”.As far as your comment regarding my place of employment (I guess you researched to find out) - if you come to my place of business, and had a problem. I assure you we would handle it with dignity, and give you the respect you deserve as a customer.I wish you well, I thought the 3 star review was incredibly generous, but I like to err on the businesses side.Update 2: If you read this unprofessional response to a reasonable 3 star review, and choose to still do business here - I suppose thats on you.
They were the bomb, just recently. Not as great as they used to be. We miss the little girl with short hair. She was so sweet.
The food is great! The spicy tuna bruschetta was top notch. Cant wait to go back again.
Fantastic breakfast. Everything was fresh and delicious!
The food was delicious. I had a turkey avocado sandwich with fries and a white mocha, my husband had a ham, cheese and egg croissant. The food was of good size and was well cooked, the portions were appropriate. The white mocha was good.
