Ah Good Dough. Thinking of your Vegan Fridays makes my heart sing β€οΈ Good Dough certainly fills the void of delicious vegan doughnuts. I definitely recommend calling ahead because they WILL sell out, especially since they close earlier than before. My personal favorite is the savory avocado vegan doughst (I think I spelled it right?) with avocado and an amazing local hot sauce on half of a vegan doughnut π Remember: Fridays. Call ahead. Enjoy!
My niece wanted donut, but I didnt want to go to chain donut place. I decided to check out Good Dough. Im not a huge donut fan (I guess I gorged out on honey buns as a kid lol), but I was still excited to try these donuts. We decide to get three donuts to take a taste of some different options. We got the matcha, strawberry cheesecake, and the brown butter donuts. The texture of the donuts were dense which was nice. I felt that the strawberry cheesecake and brown butter was a little to sweet for me. The matcha was an interesting pair for a donut. I think I probably should have just gotten the original because I really enjoyed the donuts alone but the glaze and topping for me were a little too sweet, but again Im not a big donut person. I would love to try this place again. Also, they make a nice chai tea latte.
This is a very cool gourmet doughnut spot located on Hendricks Avenue in San Marco. The flavors are unique and nontraditional. I had the butterscotch and bacon flavor and my 97-year-old father had the Strawberry. Parking is in the rear off of LaSalle. I got the impression there is no inside seating during COVID-19. We took it to-go and sat in the car in the parking lot. Very friendly staff! Be prepared for the prices, but it is worth it.
The donuts are good and usually the staff is great. Weve made the trip to Good Dough quite often and are usually pleased. Today however, not so much. My wife preordered donuts yesterday to ensure she would not make the 1 hr round trip drive without receiving the donut from this months menu (before the menu changes). When she arrived (after a 30 minute trip) she found her order was not filled and only a handful of donuts to pick from. The male behind the counter was not apologetic and explained that they got busy this morning and did not fill her order. He suggested she could come back tomorrow; he also offered a coffee. Those are both unacceptable. #1 the menu changes tomorrow and the donut is not offered, #2 she came for a donut, not a coffee. At the minimum, pretend to be apologetic. I guess these folks are not hurting for business now and care less about filling orders that customers took time to consider and place ahead of time.
Although I arrived late in the morning and options were few I loved my donuts. I had the glazed and brown butter? There is Puhlenty of glaze on those donuts. Yummy!Staff was courteous and friendly. Cute decor. Like walking back in time a little. PARKING ** Behind the store or over by the church just around the corner. Lots of other fun places to visit and eateries.
Perfect donuts. Great customer service! Expect to pay more money than your average DD or KK simply because of their extra quality!
Size- as big as bagels!Flavors- so many and so good!Dough/bread of donuts wasnt our favorite. Kind of bland and a bit over cooked on the outside.Overall great fun but they are expensive donuts to not LOVE them.
Best donuts in town for sure. Brown butter is a staple so definitely try it. They switch flavors every month so it never gets old. Friendly calm atmosphere. Great place to go solo and have a coffee or go with a group. If youre into something savory definitely try the fried chicken doughwich I cant recommend it enough!
Amazing spot for doughnuts.... Have to go early or youll be left empty handed.
Great selection and fresh clean place. π
I regularly visit Good Dough. They have unique and tasty treats to enjoy on a weekend morning. I love trying new flavors but also always make sure to order my staples as well. The brown butter and the butterscotch bacon are my favorites. Would recommend.
Some very nice person was showing appreciation and brought in doughnuts from your shop. They were EXCELLENT
Wanted to support a local business. Unfortunately, donuts are just not that good. They are dry and not all that flavorful. Really didnt taste fresh. Unfortunately, there are too many good donut shops around to justify this (major chains as well as local places in Jax). Wish it was good. :(
Awesome place! Reasonably priced. Very friendly staff. A guy with glasses helped me today and was very knowledgeable. I got their donut of the month which was a prized bun filled with Nutella and I also got the butterscotch with bacon! Both were gone before I left my parking spot! Lol delicious! Note: They have parking behind the shop.
I like their donuts. It is more like soft pretzels or bread texture with donuts flavor.People have different taste. Honestly, it wasnβt my husbandβs favorite. But I think here is the best donuts shop in Jacksonville. If you like traditional American donuts, you can go to dunkin. If you wanna try something new, this is the place to go. And their shop inside is very cute. I want to try eat-in next time and try some coffee.
I was the first person in the door at 9 a.m. there was probably 20 people after me waiting to get in the door. I had found this place by googling gourmet donuts because I wanted something different today. I drove 20 minutes from my house and it was so worth it. I got a dozen donuts but I dont think I want to share with anybody. I also tried the ham egg and cheese stuffed in a donut it was so good. Dont ask yourself if you should try it just do it just do it.
Ive been wanting to try Good Dough since they opened and this past weekend I finally had a chance. I have visited their location in Hendricks Avenue twice previously, but both times they were pretty much sold out of donuts. I happened to be at the Town Center fairly early on a Sunday morning an remembered that Good Dough now has a location there. On this trip I just tried the chocolate doughnut with sprinkles. It is a good sized doughnut with a nice chew to it, definitely fresh. If you like doughnuts, its worth a try. On my next visit, I plan on trying the french toast cake doughnut :)
Ok so normally I dont review and rate donut shops. Today I must make an exception for Good Dough Donuts on HENDRICKS AVE. The shop is a cozy little place and if you dont pay attention you will pass it. With that said the unique flavor of the donuts and combinations of donut toppings this alone is worth the trip, or visit Town Center location.I was first peaked when I found out that two of my favorite flavors could be found on one donut, butterscotch and bacon, I had to check this out. Awesome combinations of flavor btw imho. They also have a Doughwich, sandwich in a donut, the chicken and the bacon egg and cheese are absolutely delicious. I have not tried the avocado one well in honesty avocado is not my favorite to start with. The staff were very friendly and I have nothing but high praise for the service. Definitely will be going back.
Absolutely AWESOME doughnuts and coffee!
I worked at Good Dough for a year and I had a blast. The ingredients are truly the best, and every element is carefully planned out. The coffee is from local roasters Vagabond and even the coffee syrups are handmade. Chef Christine is totally innovative. Make sure to get one of her special layered doughnuts on the weekends!
Wanted to support a local donut shoppe in Jacksonville since weβre visiting from Texas but sadly showed up to locked doors. Please change your hours of operations if you do not plan to stay open until your closing time. My wife and I showed up at 1:10 and ran through the rain just to be disappointed.
Such cool combinations of ingredients, everything is so fresh and well worth it, absolutely scrumptious!
Finally! a great donut shop in town! Im addictive to this place now. I barely eat donut & when I do I go for hot & fresh Krispy Cream (original glaze) thats it! This place makes me wanna eat all flavor in their menu & makes me wanna go everyday! π Price is up there but its really worth it! Its a damn good dough indeed!
Honestly the best Artisan doughnuts in Jacksonville. Eye pleasing and delicious doughnuts of every imaginable flavor. They also have doughnut sandwiches (doughwiches). If you dont give this shop a try, you will miss something awesome! There is no street parking in the front....Parking is in the rear of the shops.
I stopped by on Friday because was told thatβs when they cook their vegan options. It was around 8:30pm and unfortunately were sold out of vegan doughnuts. The long blond haired lady was very sweet and nice. She expressed her regret for the lack of vegan doughnuts, and recommended the vegan cookies. I bought four. They tasted very yummmmyyyy! I also bought lavender flavored coffee which had quite a distinct taste. I enjoyed it a lot. The doughnut shop has minimalist yet trendy furnishings, color scheme, and lighting. Check them out!
Nice change to grab their donuts a couple times a year. Tried the coffee glaze and butterscotch with bacon top. Anything with bacon is good. Just hard to pay $6.15 for two donuts...
Good Dough is aptly named - really fresh, very Good Doughnuts that brought back memories of the days when my sister and I convinced our parents to drag out the fryer and create a batch of homemade doughnuts. I had an amazing salted caramel cappuccino. We have a highly discerning coffee lover in the family who gave the coffee his high ratings as well. They even have a little practice oven for all their #WinDoughBabies with future baking aspirations. Every employee was warm and kind and eager to serve. What a pleasant addition to San Marco!
Enjoyed the vegan donut!! On Fridays onlyUPDATE....Ive been back three times and no vegan donuts even on Friday...π I went today and they only had one and there menu states they have four flavors on Friday only. So Im changing my four stars to one.!!
Fantastic flavors. And prices really surprised me!! Got four donuts for around ten bucks, while family loved them. I recommend getting there early, last time I got there at 2 and they had nothing left
Place was clean, cold brew coffee was delish. Got there around 10:30 am and there werent many doughnut to choose from 6 options. The dough is dense and almost like a sourdough or pretzel thickness. They are delicious and I will be back for sure. Although parking is very limited, you have to go to the back and there is a lot back there and a door to enter through the back of the store.
I tried their Fried Chicken Doughwich - buttermilk marinated chicken, beer battered with Intuition Ale Works Kolsch style beer. It sits comfortably on an artisan glazed donut handmade from scratch. Fresh pickles, a dash of hot sauce, and house made honey butter completes this masterpiece.Come here every chance you get to eat their donuts!!
I cant say enough about this place their donuts are amazing the staff is friendly you have to try their avocado toast OMG it is so scrumptious
Donuts, cant go wrong....
The cookie butter doughnuts are insanely good. Who does that? Just writing this review made me want one.
Their donuts are ok. But not something I would go back for. But the employees are extremely nice
Fresh homemade doughnuts, I had the chicken and doughnuts
Homer Simpson voice- Mmmmmm, donuts!
A colleague of mine recommended Good Dough to me since Im new to St. Augustine/Jax and Im sure glad that I listened to her! I had an appointment about 20 minutes away, so I conveniently manipulated my itinerary for the day so that I could stop in and see if these hand crafted donuts were as amazing as they were described. Oh yeah! With my Shakerato in one hand and milk chocolate donut in the other, I took a bite of the donut and it incited a moment of bliss bordering on hypnosis for my palette! Its a beautiful shop, well lit and plenty of room to sit or watch the donuts being made in the kitchen. Youll be well pleased if you stop in!
Food was amazing, very clean establishment with super friendly people
I had to get in and out because I was in a rush, but I know that after eating that donut in hurry, I will make my way back to Good Dough soon enough to enjoy the whole experience.Matcha donut was made to perfection. The glaze even melts in your mouth.
Personally, the donuts here are overly heavy/cakey/thick and the icing on them is too sweet/rich. The dowich sandwiches are actually great and better than the donuts.
What I like about the doughnuts here is the texture and that they arent dry. They are rich and most are flavorful. I think the raised are preferable to the old fashioned, but that is my opinion. Favorites have been the Molly Ringwald, Vietnamese coffee, and the Bob Ross. Those last two were some special weekly flavors I hope they bring back. The brown butter and the cardamom sugar are good basic flavors, and the triple chocolate is decadent. I think the lemon poppy seed needed more lemon, and was a little dry and crumbly. I want to try a doughwich still. Also, love the coffee here!
De-effin-licious. Nough said.
I have had many of their donuts and all were very delicious they have a lot of very interesting flavors that arenβt all the originals but it is nice to have a flavor of something you most likely wouldnβt get anywhere else I would definitely recommend.
The ultimate real, handmade dough.
Not bad. Not great. Maybe just a tab below βgoodβ. There was an hour left before closing and they close early, naturally, being a donut shop. I was interested in one of the donut sammiches as I figured I would go ahead and clog my arteries in a very poor suicide attempt. They saved my life by saying their sandwich making was closed which I thought strange since they have limited hours and with an hour left to go, youβd assume fully operational. The donut, although good was unlike a donut in the classic sense and more like a dense cupcake. Maybe thatβs what they are going for in being different? It was alright but expensive. Iβll give them another shot but this first experience wasnβt the greatest.
Support local! These donuts will not disappoint π₯°
We wanted to try somewhere new! Something different other than Dunkinβ, Krispy, ya know. So we headed to Good Dough. Parking is in the back and thereβs not much available. Cute little shop though! Didnβt have a huge selection of flavors. We decided to get milk chocolate with sprinkles, brown butter and the cardamom donuts, one of each. Took them home. Went to try them and we were pretty shocked... they werenβt very good at all. The doughnuts themselves were SO dense and thick, not what we expected at all. The flavors were either over powering or underwhelming. Always nice to try but donβt think Iβd recommend.
Cake donuts were drowning in grease. Bread donuts were over cooked. I viewed cross contamination in the prep area and the serving area. Its loud inside the donut shop because of the hard floors. Wont accept paper cash. Wont accept change. Avoid this place.
Amazing creative food! An unexpectedly savory delicious combination. If you are in the area dont miss this place!
I truly feel this place is more about the aesthetics than the donuts. Theyβre visually stunning but the donut itself leaves a lot to be desired. I always base my opinion on a donut shop starting with a glazed donut, the donut is very dense and the glaze is extremely unfamiliar. I also tried the lavender, half baked, frosted animal cookie, and maple bacon, unfortunately they all fell short except for the blueberry cake donut.
